[Bug 415761] [NEW] Accidental double click on update-notifier starts two instances
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-notifier Hello I have experienced this many times: when the notification of updates appears on the taskbar/tray, I sometimes double-click it to open up the update manager (as in my experience, double clicking is the most frequent way of restoring windows minimized to the tray). It then starts two instances of update manager, which work in parallel, and one of them gives an error sooner or later, that files are locked etc. (obviously by the other instance). This is not really a bug, maybe a cosmetic thing, but I think, the notifier should have something to prevent double clicking. Ubuntu version affected: all, from 7.04 upwards DE: XFCE 4.4 4.6, Gnome *all* ** Affects: update-notifier (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Accidental double click on update-notifier starts two instances https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415761 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 415759] [NEW] External monitor requires switching VT to activate
Public bug reported: On my laptop with Intel integrated graphics (X4500), if I connect an external monitor via the VGA port, and use System-Pref-Displays to set it to only use the external monitor (and disable the laptop monitor altogether), when I reboot (happens on every boot), GDM will show on both screens (this is expected), but once I login, both screens become black. I need to switch to another VT (both screens would show the VT) and back to see my GNOME desktop. After that, my laptop screen would display the VT I switched to, and the external display would show my GNOME desktop. I am not sure what part of the system (Xorg, Intel driver, GNOME) is at fault, but I will try to blame GNOME first :). Expected behaviour - the external screen shows the GNOME desktop on login, and the laptop screen should be turned off. This is on Karmic alpha 4. I didn't notice this behaviour in 9.04 (or maybe even earlier 9.10 alphas, that I'm not sure). [Bug 127315] Re: F-Spot puts photos in Photos folder not Pictures folder
Okay attached is the debdiff that solves this bug. What the patch does if when F-Spot finds that the 'f-spot/import/storage_path' gconf string has not been set yet (basically the first time the user uses the application) it will check: Does the directory 'XDG_PICTURES_DIR/Photos' exist? (this all translates, so in Spanish this would be Imágenes/Fotos) If it does not, then F-Spot will create the directory, if it does, then it continues. Finally F-Spot will set the default storage path for the users Photos to be: 'XDG_PICTURES_DIR/Photos' I have tested this patch thoroughly and it builds + works perfectly on Karmic. The patch also fixes a few debian packaging things. [Bug 385232] Re: [i965] UXA Freeze
So you know, I have no intention to open another bug. I've written here a big bunch of information, attached a number of dumps and so on. To replicate that information in another bug is time-consuming and pointless to me, I don't have time for this circus. And where is this one freeze rule per person written? It's not nice to say aftwerwards that you have rule when you have not made to rule known and accessible to those governed by it. So you use the information I've attached here or not - I don't care. [Bug 415785] [NEW] madfuload is not called from udev
Public bug reported: madfuload is a firmware uploading tool necessary for certain external sound cards used by e.g. musicians. It does not work properly: while it can be manually invoked, the udev script does nothing. Madfuload expects command lines such as: madfuload -v -l -3 -f /usr/share/usb/maudio/ma004103.bin -D /dev/bus/usb/002/002 (and if does this manually, the firmware gets uploaded). [Bug 318942] Re: no sound from speakers on HP Mini 1000 (hda-intel, IDT 92HD75B2X5)

Fix: Patch attached includes correct Intel HDA audio verb table and mixer settings to enable speakers for the HP Mini 1000 (Audio chipset: IDT 92HD75B2X5, Vendor Id 0x111d7608, Subsystem Id: 0x103c361a, Revision Id: 0x100102). [Bug 410305] Re: screen flickering on dell laptop
It seems to have been a problem with the in-kernel part of the driver and KMS, fixed in the latest kernel update (2.6.31-6): * I spotted some flicker in usplash and text console as well * booting without KMS removed it * it is gone, even with KMS enabled in 2.6.31-6 (and back if booting again on 2.6.31-5, it was not fixed by one of the other updates) For the record, here is a short answer to your question: The symptoms are similar to that of bug #399829: many redraw trigger screen flickering, for exemple moving windows of the gdm animations, even text scrolling in a terminal the only difference is that changing the resolution did not work arround it for me, otherwise, the flickering looked like the one in the video linked in bug #399829. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- screen flickering on dell laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410305 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I pasted contents from restart to restart of my /var/log/messages on pastebin.com sounds to me to be same as this bug located here [Bug 353766] [NEW] kernel panic when using firefox on Acer Aspire One, my messages are at the link below, thx http://pastebin.com/f4327674 ** Attachment added: aao_kernel_panic_caps_lock http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30498201/aao_kernel_panic_caps_lock -- Ubuntu freezes with blinking lock keys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312262 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

note about above statement i post prior. This happens when I was downloading vmware esxi and vmware server at the same time, maybe overload bandwidth for wireless or firefox? This is a default install of jaunty with perfectbuntu script from category5.tv website and thats it. Ibex had the same problem like this for me. Re: [Bug 252119] Re: alc 888 in medion 96640 gives only faint sound
Yes I want to open a new bug, because the internal mike is not working in my MEDION AKOYA laptop. 2009/8/19 Leann Ogasawara leann.ogasaw...@canonical.com Hi dompie, Care to open a new bug regarding the internal microphone issue? The reason I ask is it's helpful to the development teams if bug target one specific issue against a specific set of hardware. Otherwise it can often get confusing reading through bugs where the majority of the comments no longer apply. Also enabling the microphone will likely require a different patch. For now I'm marking this particular bug Fix Released. [Bug 363868] Re: BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way that Linux understands, Foxconn A7GM-S 2.0
re #16 : I have created a FAT partition on the harddrive and use a Freedos Bootdisk. re #17 : Thanks, this was the reply from the FOXCONN people too, They currently nderstand it is a BIOS problem and seem to be willing to fix it. I just checked and there is a new version of the bios (07) (date 8/18/09). It fixes a Vista problem when Cool n' Quiet is disabled. I hope they have rumaged enough to fix the problem for Linux. [Bug 379157] Re: [i945G] Samsung TV not detected on VGA output (no screens)
I first tried to use a live CD but didn't know how to reboot after the changes so I tried to use a boot USB stick but was not successful. Since it might be a while until I am able to have a working USB stick I'll use a live CD ,but here I have doubts. I understand how I can install the patch in a live CD but I don't know how to test that the patch works. Before formatting I could just reboot the computer after every xorg.conf change and test everything but in a live CD I cannot reboot ... how do I test that the new X configuration works after installing? And how do I go back to a working conf. to submit the files?
