[Bug 380907] Re: Text gets erroneously copied to the clipboard in GTK based applications
Wow, I reported this 14 months ago and had forgotten about it. In short this bug has no meaning to me anymore. After experiencing some other issues in (IIRC) Q3 2009 I abandoned Ubuntu and switched to Debian testing. I find that much more reliable than Ubuntu stable. I can say though that I can't reproduce this in Debian testing. I assume that this means that [whatever made it right for me] in Debian should make its way downstream to Ubuntu at some point - if not already. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I don't have any Ubuntu machines left to try and reproduce this on. -- Text gets erroneously copied to the clipboard in GTK based applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows
Got the same problem in debian testing (squeeze) for a while. I tried removing the wacom and synaptics input drivers and hope this will be effective. I'll report back about that. Following workarounds were more or less effective for me: rightclicking on desktop after Super+D, restarting window manager (tried openbox, fluxbox and metacity) with --replace, and replugging the mouse. But in a few minutes the problem always reoccurred. I'm still not sure what triggers it. So afaics it has nothing to do with Ubuntu. Re: [Bug 611188] Re: Server disk was reverted as it were 1 month ago. How?
What does dmraid -n show? Obviously the disks went out of sync some time ago and the reboot resulted in the other disk being used now. The question is why, and is the new data still on the other disk, or have they been resynced using the old disk? You should try mounting each disk directly read only rather than going through the raid device and see if one of them has the correct data. -- Server disk was reverted as it were 1 month ago. [Bug 602273] Re: PXE booting the desktop image fails to configure network
Wrote a (quick) patch that seems to correct the issue. That said, it's making use of a function that is sourced from /init inside the initrd, and apparently not in casper itself, which seems far from optimal. Perhaps it would be a good idea to re-copy this function in casper- functions or casper-helpers instead. Note also: apparently the IPAPPEND 2 option is now required for pxelinux to include BOOTIF in cmdline since casper doesn't just configure the interface specified in initramfs.conf. -- PXE booting the desktop image fails to configure network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602273 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks to whoever provided the useful reminder about the tab setting in response to the previous spleen venting. I don' t know if this is really the same bug I'm seeing--and I don't care anymore. [Bug 578138] Re: Thinkpad T400 (model 2765-TDG) fails to resume after second suspend
Hello again, I'm yet to test Intel without tp-smapi in kernel 2.6.32-24. Nevertheless, the freeze after the second resume exists in my laptop with 2.6.32-24, ATi w/ tp-smapi, ATi without tp-smapi, and intel w/tp- smapi. One thing I've noticed, however, is that on the first suspend-resume cycle, the T400 will beep when you trigger the resume routines. However, on the second cycle, the beep will come right before it suspends. As far as I know, it never comes back to life. Funnily enough, in Windows Vista Business 32bit (no suspend-resume issues), the beep comes right at suspension. I don't recall the machine beeping on resume. I hope this info helps anyone. If you suspect the blame actually lies in my laptop, I'd also like to hear this. [Bug 285892] Re: ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x807f SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen
I think I have this bad block for a year now... the thing is that I would never write much data on this disk. The problem started when the headers actually started to cross over this spot, since I almost filled the disk a couple of times. I never cared to make a full surface scan using the factory tool from SAMSUNG. Neither cared to do this with fsck. I've always relied on fsck partial checks, and I think when the thing starts going really bad you get warned. Otherwise, you don't. So, download the factory surface scan app from your HDD website company, and do a full scan. It may take an hour depending how large it is (40 minutes for this 160GB). One thing for sure is that I will never be buying SAMSUNG hard drives again. I remember someone said to me that they were a so-so hard disk brand, and my previous disk was a Seagate Spinpoint in 2004 which I believe it is still kicking ass for someone I sold to. Western Digital made the RMA record for me, counting 3 RMA'ed drives in 2 years. So I stopped buying from them too. I am gonna buy a Seagate 500GB. However, I am gonna low-level format this problematic drive and see if this bad block can be marked away. At least I can still use it on a spare machine. -- ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x807f SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285892 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 228806] Re: [MASTER] various unrelated crashes for firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9
I don't mind discussing thing, but it seems pretty pointless. Actually, on the two machines that I normally run under Ubuntu, I also am forced to use older versions of Ubuntu because the newer versions are NOT reliable enough. I am running the newest version experimentally on three machines--but I can't rely on it. This is NOT progress. For what little it is worth, I think the fundamental problem with Ubuntu is that the economic model they are using is broken. It worked to a certain point, but at this point the regression testing is clearly inadequate. As a constructive suggestion, here is a link to a funding model that might provide a better balance between new features and keeping things working: http://eco-epistemology.blogspot.com/2009/11/economics-of-small-donors- reverse.html -- [MASTER] various unrelated crashes for firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228806 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 611886] [NEW] maximized windows don't get redrawn
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg Practically every time I plug in an external monitor and set up dual- head (1280x1024 external LCD connected over analog VGA to the right of my primary laptop screen, 1280x800), maximized windows stop being redrawn. I've seen this happen with xchat-gnome and chromium windows, and even gnome-panel once or twice. The window content is drawn correctly, but shows an outdated picture that doesn't represent the current state. For example, scrolling, going back in history or opening a new tab in chromium appears to have no effect; applets added to a newly created panel aren't shown. There's a workaround: unmaximize the window and maximize it again. The window gets redrawn correctly and doesn't get frozen again. For gnome- panel the workaround is to open its properties and check/uncheck Show hide buttons. Re: [Bug 228806] Re: [MASTER] various unrelated crashes for firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9
If I rememebr the upgrade issues started about 7.04 up to 7.10 then I have never been able to use the new OS Upgrade unless I download it and start fresh losing my apps. Now I save it to a second hard drive so not to lose them. So if ubuntu design teams actually reads this we all who love the OS , would like a fix to this. I write somewhere on the forum bug fix whatever but never find or get a fix for the issue. Thank you Shannon for sharing this with all of us . I twould be funny if you and I are the only ones participating in this Launchpad report.. Ubuntu has a winning item and I don't know the pains they have in providing this to us, but I would love more ease of upgrade to the system. --- On Fri, 7/30/10, shanen (Shannon Jacobs) 228...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote: From: shanen (Shannon Jacobs) 228...@bugs.launchpad.net Subject: [Bug 228806] Re: [MASTER] various unrelated crashes for firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9 To: charlesdean2...@yahoo.com Date: Friday, July 30, 2010, 5:22 PM I don't mind discussing thing, but it seems pretty pointless.
