[Bug 851932] [NEW] File synchronization fails with DBusException NoReply
Public bug reported: Possibly related to #672884. I've discovered this issue, when Nautilus suddenly *became completely unresponsive*, preventing me from browsing the filesystem with it. Even a complete system restart didn't help. After a bit of poking around for the possible reasons, Ubuntu Control Panel gave me that error: DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. in bold red in the window under both file sync and shared directory list tabs. As I had some pending file changes, it was obviously also trying to update the files, which was also constantly failing. The logs are given below. Uninstalling ubuntuone-client-gnome helped me get back Nautilus to work, so that package is obviously related. I can reproduce this quite easily: 1) Press Alt + F2, type gedit, press Enter 2) if gedit opens, close it 3) jump to 1) It really works only every other time. hi, sorry for the late answer. it took some time to reproduce this bug. it does not always happen and still did not figure out when it does and when it does not do like i described. i managed to reproduce it in libreoffice writer, with numbered entries. sorry for the bit lengthy video 1:34 or something. i had to fiddle around a bit. the thing happens at the end. at around 1:20 and there you see the numbering and lines with it not rendered properly, one number just go missing till i hit enter again. let me know if this is good enough. best, Gabor On Sun, 2011-09-11 at 15:00 +, Christopher M. [Bug 703332] Re: Cannot install any sofware using the ubuntu software center
Thanks for the report, Alexander, and sorry for the slow response. This is awkward. According to http://www.kaspersky.com/anti- virus_linux_workstation, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Workstation is not available for free download. It's available only as part of various suites, the cheapest of which is £253.00. That's a bit beyond our bug triage budget. :-) So, if you still experience the problem, could you try this? 1. Install Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1 in a VM or separate partition. 2. Install all Ubuntu updates. 3. In a Terminal window, enter software-center. 4. Once USC launches, double-click on the Kaspersky package and try to install it. 5. When it fails, copy and paste the error output from the Terminal window into this bug report. It looks like the block device is appearing. Maybe the filesystem just isn't getting mounted? Try identifying the block device for your media player (one way is to look at the output of dmesg just after plugging it in, you can see at the end of the CurrentDmesg.txt attachment that it is device sde for instance). Then try running the following commands in a terminal as a test: mkdir mount-test sudo mount /dev/block_device mount-test Do you get any errors in the terminal or in dmesg? [Bug 774203] Re: Brasero makes coasters when using the Burn Directly To Disk option
This bug has been reported months ago and nothing happened since. I'd like to stress that Brasero is rubbish unless it JUST WORKS. I have just made a few shiny coasters on a few PCs with Ubuntu (3 of them actually) as I couldn't believe this could be a software fault... No one releases burning software that is not capable of doing its main goal -- burning discs! Why adding this functionality when it fails on every PC? BTW, not sure if the disc writing facility integrated with Nautilus is also backed up by Brasero but that also failed for me... All the coasters are not recognized by the DVD reader on any PC (also checked with Windows)... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774203 Title: Brasero makes coasters when using the Burn Directly To Disk option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/brasero/+bug/774203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 851933] [NEW] After some recent updates, can't install Google Earth
Public bug reported: I was able to download and install Google Earth from 'http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/earth/download/ge/agree.html', on Ubuntu Oneiric (64 bit). After a subsequent upgrade broke Ubuntu, I re-installed Ubuntu Oneiric, via the daily update package and downloaded and installed Google Earth (together with lsb-core). I restarted and selected Google Earth, the splash screen opened and then Google Earth crashed. I think the problem may be associated with a recent Ubuntu Oneiric update, since the same package version was successfully installed on an earlier version of Ubuntu Oneiric. [Bug 850892] Re: orchestra-import-isos does not update
Hi Adam. I've looked at your patches. They look good. However, there's something that we shouldn't be doing. I've seen that to update the ISO's you would be removing a profile. correct? If you do so, then the system that points to a profile (or subprofile for which a parent profile gets removed) then the system will be *automatically* removed from the system list. So, this means that we *should not* remove a profile, but rather update its contents and run a cobbler sync operation to create the hardlinks and stuff (We'll have to test that doing so really updates the initrd and kernel). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850892 Title: orchestra-import-isos does not update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cobbler/+bug/850892/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
