[Bug 963363] Re: 12.04 getting ip from wrong dhcp server
** Description changed: Ubuntu 12.04 server. daily builds 3.2.0.20.22 I assume this could be related to dhclient, but am unsure. My network is connected to a share server that is part of a separate network. my 12.04 machine (im using to test and hope my input is helpful here) keeps getting its DHCP info from the other networks DHCP server, and NOT it's assigned IP info from my local DHCP (router). - this obviously renders everything, even ssh useless to me every time it - happens and I have to login locally and usually dhclient -r and - dhclient fixes it. + this obviously renders everything useless to me every time it happens + and I have to login locally and usually dhclient -r and dhclient + fixes it. This has never happened with any machine or device on my network. not windows (2k,xp,7) or linux variants (debian, ubuntu 10.04, 11.x, etc) + + This particular box has a soft (driver driven) lan- i.e. it wont + function or get IP info without the OS driving it. (however as I + mentioned this never happened to this machine or any on my network until + testing out 12.04 ubuntu on this box) I do not want to manually assign a static ip within the linux box, my network is more dynamic than that, and I need my router(s) to always be the commander - So I don't get why 12.04, about 50% of the time is getting its network - info from the other network's dhcp. When this has never been an issue - and still isn't, with over 20 ips being dhcp assigned on my network. - - Another issue with 12.04 (this may be separate or related) this happens about half of the time my server actually picks the correct (on my network) dhcp. - network mounts that I mount in /etc/fstab, only mount about 50% of the time. - - they either ALL get mounted at boot properly, or NONE of them get mounted, usually with some errors on the local login monitor. - (mountall: disconnected from plymouth) likes to show at the ubuntu login: prompt + So 12.04, about 50% of the time is getting its network info from the + other network's dhcp. [Bug 911747] Re: [Feature] Add AuthorizedKeysCommand to OpenSSH
Red Hat may have different experiences, but I have been burned too many times by adding patches to Debian/Ubuntu OpenSSH which add configuration options, and then finding that upstream later adds them with different names and now I have to retain compatibility forever. [Bug 963696] Re: ubuntu template should enable security pocket
Hi Clint, we've talked about that before, but the decision was (IIRC) that we should simply provide -F as an obvious way to flush the container, which is documented in the server guide. Then we were going to consider more drastic changes to the templates after LTS (though the most pressing reasons for that may be addressed by ubuntu-cloud template) We could set a value in /etc/default/lxc for a maximum age to keep a container - I'm not at all averse to that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963696 Title: ubuntu template should enable security pocket To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/963696/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 963696] Re: ubuntu template should enable security pocket
Note I'm not sure what to do with this bug now :) If we decide we want -security enabled for oneiric, we could keep this bug Fix Released and SRU the fix in the template. [Bug 886792] Re: xfce4 panel in vertical orientation doesn't arrange text in logical way
A new Xfce panel (4.10) will have three panel orientations (modes): - horizontal - vertical (same as the existing one) - deskbar (vertical panel with plugins laid out horizontally). The deskbar mode is what you are looking for in this case. It will also have a configurable number of rows, which means that button-like plugins will not occupy the whole width of the panel. They will be arranged in an array instead. Unfortunately, Xfce 4.10 will not be ready in time for Ubuntu 12.04. If you wouild like to try this feature out now, the most recent version is in git repos. There are some development versions available (4.9 series) but they are already a bit outdated. Note that this feature is still under development and not all plugins are yet aware of this functionality (some plugins from Xfce goodies will still display a huge button or orientate themselves vertically). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886792 Title: xfce4 panel in vertical orientation doesn't arrange text in logical way To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/886792/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 712103] Re: unlocking dialog doesn't show
I experience this in precise, but only when running a unity session, and also not really reliably on two (sandy-bridge) systems. One system is a desktop PC running a radeon 6670 graphics card. There, I experienced this each time when resuming after suspending the machine reliably. Switching from unity to gnome3 seems to help. The other system is a laptop that was recently upgraded to precise. I have added a session item that locks the screen when logging in (because the system is configured to auto-login). [Bug 964196] Re: FFe: Sync l2tp-ipsec-vpn 1.0.6-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
This release fixes a few crucial bugs. Especially without the following bugfixes - Running Pluto is not detected (LP: #941746) - xl2tpd overrides ipparam settings (LP: #95152) users can't successfully establish vpn connections in precise, which renders the current 1.0.3-1 version useless. I applied all tests available against the version in PPA (https://launchpad.net/~werner-jaeger/+archive/ppa-werner-vpn/+sourcepub/2303445/+listing-archive-extra). No problem have been found so far. Also several PPA users confirmed that they could install and run it. The successful migration to debian testing and PPA uploads should proof that the package builds and installs (see https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=l2tp-ipsec-vpn), I also verified that the package installs under several conditions (new installation, upgrading from previous version). It dose not break other packages, because no package depends on this package . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964196 Title: FFe: Sync l2tp-ipsec-vpn 1.0.6-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/l2tp-ipsec-vpn/+bug/964196/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 962666] Re: [FFe] disable sound unmuting when I touch volume control
** Description changed: Hello, is there a way how to prevent auto unmuting when I change volume down? I know this is the by tvtime design and it cannot be changed but I want feedback. I have a Toshiba notebook and I enable muting on the internal speakers. The problem is, that the notebook has a sound level knob on the left side, which can easily (and mostly by accident) turn up or down and it automatically unmutes the speakers. A recurring example which drives me nuts is something starts SCREAMING through my speakers and there is no means to adjust the volume except through windows main controls so I have to have it blare while I turn it down. + TEST CASE: + 1) Set volume to any level + 2) Press m to mute volume + 3) Try to degrase volume + 4) Result: tvtime unmute volume + Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962666 Title: [FFe] disable sound unmuting when I touch volume control To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tvtime/+bug/962666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
