[Bug 1684034] Re: Some Dell and Lenovo systems do not work after BIOS Capsule Update
Hello Zorro, or anyone else affected, Accepted fwupdate-signed into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupdate- signed/1.11.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Bug 1672819] Re: exec'ing a setuid binary from a threaded program sometimes fails to setuid
I've verified the fix in the way I suspected I'd have to, with one extra wrinkle. 1) In a trusty VM, I verified that the C test case from the gist failed. (It did). 2) I launched a xenial lxd container on the VM and built the Go test case with version 1.6.2-0ubuntu5~16.04.2 of golang-1.6-go. 3) It did not fail in the lxd container for reasons I couldn't understand but it did fail when copied out of the container on to the trusty VM (failed 563 times out of 100k) 4) I then installed golang-1.6-go version 1.6.2-0ubuntu5~16.04.3 in the container and rebuilt the Go test case with the new compiler. 5) This did not fail when run directly on the trusty VM (0 failures out of 100k runs) So I'm confident the fix has helped. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-xenial ** Tags added: verification-done-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672819 Title: exec'ing a setuid binary from a threaded program sometimes fails to setuid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1672819/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1704226] Re: Fresh install from flash disk fails (can't read packages)
Somewhat sheepishly, I have to admit that I didn't read the error message carefully at first. I think I see the issue now. The flash disk was not clean when I started. I assumed unetbootin would wipe the disk or ignore other files. One of the other directories is named Sources. The Ubuntu Studio installer assumes this includes package repository info, but it doesn't. So it fails to parse. It is my error (I think, will try shortly), but the behavior is not exactly graceful. - unetbootin could warn that extraneous files could break the installer. - or the installer could be more rigorous about ignoring directories that didn't come from the installation package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1704226 Title: Fresh install from flash disk fails (can't read packages) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1704226/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1701744] Re: [Hyper-V] Add infiniband support for Azure HPC
Please build the driver as a kernel module package. The package name should have something that match the hosting cluster ND version. Currently we have 142 and 144. [Bug 1704232] [NEW] Halt doesn't power system down
Public bug reported: I have a Skylake Core i7 system running up-to-date 16.04.1 (4.4 kernel). Whenever I issue a halt (either shutdown -h now, or halt) the shutdown process gets as far as showing the "Target shutdown reached" on the console, but instead of actually powering the system down, it just sits there idling. I have to manually power the system off by holding the power button down. What should happen, is that 'shutdown -h now' should actually shut the OS down and power the computer off without any further intervention. [Bug 1704229] [NEW] Potential of creating a pypy-pip package using this source
Public bug reported: There are currently packages for "python-pip" and "python3-pip" in the repositories, but can you please consider adding a "pypy-pip" package as well to be in line with the "pypy-setuptools" package? I ask because it would be nice to have pypy added to the python plugin for Snapcraft and as of right now, the only missing package is "pypy-pip" as there are already "pypy-dev", "pypy-pkg-resources", and "pypy-setuptools" packages. Since Snapcraft only supports Ubuntu 16.04 and above, we may only need to build "pypy-pip" for Xenial and above. Please let me know if this is possible as I would love to see a greater adoption of PyPy.
