[Bug 1929507] [NEW] Files in /proc/net/vlan are being set to 0600 permissions

2021-05-24 Thread Daniel Amaya
Public bug reported:

A fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04. Installed MAAS regiond controller.
Here's Netplan config:

```
network:
  ethernets:
enp4s0f0: {}
  vlans:
vlan3:
  id: 3
  link: enp4s0f0
  addresses: [10.3.9.24/16]
  gateway4: 10.3.0.1
  mtu: 9000
  nameservers:
  addresses: [10.3.0.1, 10.3.0.2]
  version: 2
```

Here's permissions for files created in `/proc/net/vlan`

```
root@d9-33u-a:~# ls -lh /proc/net/vlan/
total 0
-rw--- 1 root root 0 May 25 04:33 config
-rw--- 1 root root 0 May 25 04:33 vlan3
```

This is causing issues with MAAS v3.0 beta:

```
Also note that 3K/4K-wide at 60Hz requires an HDMI 2.0 port and cable,
or for you to limit your refresh rate to 30Hz (not recommended for
It looks like this issue keeps happening with HDMI for i915 users. Maybe
Intel is being conservative (or just accurate) with bandwidth
limitations... Anyone affected, please follow the instructions in
Comment #29 shows this problem is originating in the i915 kernel driver.
So there's no need to include 'xorg-server' here, Xorg is only following
the (incomplete) list of modes exposed by the kernel.
[Bug 1923232] Re: SRU of LXC 4.0.6 to focal (upstream bugfix release)
2021-05-24 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Serge, or anyone else affected,
Accepted lxc into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/1:4.0.6-0ubuntu1~20.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package.  See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.  Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.
If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
Yeah, let's not get focal or Yaru involved here. If anyone has a problem
with focal or Yaru they should open a new bug with a screenshot of
whatever is bothering them.
[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? (ASUS Laptop)
2021-05-24 Thread Frederic
I'm just facing this same issue since today after upgrading 20.04 kernel
from 5.8.x to 5.12.6-051206-generic.
Second screen is detected by Nvidia, but black. When I change down the
resolution from 1920x1080 to 1280x1024 the 2nd screen reappear. Then if
I put back 1920x1080, the screen keeps alive but the refresh rate
appears to 59hz in display settings, so screen is blinking. If I
manually put the refresh rate to 60hz, the screen works fine until the
next reboot. Then I have to start over.
GPU is Nvidia GTX1060 and driver is Nouveau. Proprietary drivers didn't
detects the 2nd screen at all.
In that case, yes, the key in mok used for signing the kernel is supposed to
be measured in addition to the key used for signing grub.  But it sounds
like you're not getting to that point yet, if your kernel fails to load.
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
dpkg complains that mysql failed to stop when it was trying to restart
the service to the new version, however the mysql error log indicates
the service did indeed shutdown, just that it took a while to do so
(~1.5 min).  If that is the case, then this may be another dupe of the
"exceeded timeout to shutdown" class of bugs.
2021-05-23T08:05:52.200064Z 0 [System] [MY-010910] [Server] /usr/sbin/mysqld:
Shutdown complete (mysqld 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.04.1)  (Ubuntu).
It looks like the shutdown for restarting to the new mysql took slightly
over a minute.  My guess is that this exceeded the allowed timeout and
thus was erroneously assumed to be a service failure.   The log shows
another restart the same day which took only 1.5 seconds, so this seems
like something intermittent.  This behavior looks very similar to bug
#1929314, and could well be a duplicate to that.
However, your logs show a more interesting issue.  In several places
through the logs there is a message:
   locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or
directory
This is probably not anything serious, and most likely unrelated to the
upgrade failure.  So it is likely of low importance.  However, sometimes
locale issues can hint at deeper problems so this may be worth further
investigation at some point.
For these reasons let's focus this bug report not on the installation
timeout, but rather on this locale warning.
[OVN] Fix: Disabling snat after it was enabled
This patch removes a conditional check in the update_router() method
which was verifying if snat was enabled in order to update the nat
rules. This check does not make sense in the update method as if snat
was disabled we should still call update_nat_rules() which will then
remove the NAT entry from the OVN NB DB.
[Bug 1929314] Re: Unattended-upgrade failed to restart mysql service (due to timeout?)
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
2021-05-23T00:04:43.500232Z 0 [System] [MY-013172] [Server] Received SHUTDOWN
Shutdown complete (mysqld 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.04.1)  (Ubuntu).
It looks like the upgrade process tried to stop the old service and
start the new one, but complains that the old one didn't stop properly.
Yet from the logs it appears it did stop, but took a few minutes to do
it.  Perhaps this was longer than the allowed timeout?
It's unclear why it took this long in this case; the log shows two
shutdowns the previous day that took just a few seconds.  Is it possible
the system was under unusually high load?  Or any other ideas why the
database shutdown needed 4 minutes to complete?
2021-05-24 Thread VINAY RAJESH
Hi Steve,
What about the scenario where the signers are different for kernel and
grub? For example, if the kernel is signed using a self signed cert and
loaded using MOK.
I am trying to do that right now but the kernel fails to load when
signed with a MOK key.
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Jacob,
You appear to be installing old versions of  PHP from Ondřej Surý's PPA,
and also installing both mysql and mariadb on the same system.  For
Ubuntu 20.04, we support only PHP 7.4 with mysql 8.0.  As you are
seeing, mixing mysql and mariadb can cause a lot of conflicts since the
two packages provide different versions of the same files.
You may have resolved this issue already, but if not you will probably
want to purge all php* and all mysql and mariadb packages, remove the
config files and data directories, and start over.  If you need mariadb,
then do not install any mysql bits; OTOH if you need mysql then avoid
installing any mariadb packages.
[Bug 1926265] Re: slapd enter in infinite loop on sched_yield syscall
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
If I understand the work so far, this issue is only present in Bionic,
since later releases already have the release (and the subsequent fix)?
Sounds like the next action here would be to SRU the changes packaged in
https://launchpad.net/~sergiodj/+archive/ubuntu/openldap-
bug1926265/+packages.  A possible catch though is that the SRU process
dislikes introducing known regressions, and it sounds like this revert
patch would do so.  So it may be worth discussing this with an SRU
administrator first.  If introducing the regression is a no-go, then
that means a bionic-specific fix would need developed based on
https://github.com/openldap/openldap/commit/735e1ab14bb055344b4e767a216aa410aa7d1503.
2021-05-24 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
This looks mostly ok but the merge doesn't seem to account for the
apport hooks being in debian now -- the changelog still lists it as a
difference, the package-hooks dir is in the .dirs files twice, and I
think they might be installed twice.
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Hiren and Martinus,
The Trisquel and Linux Mint distributions are not Ubuntu, so your bug
reports would be better directed to those distros rather than here.  I
don't know why they would not provide /etc/os-release since that is
standard, and on cursory look it appears they do have the file:
https://itsfoss.com/check-linux-mint-version/ (see alternative #5)
https://trisquel.info/en/issues/11712
That said, honestly I'm not sure whether ubuntu-advantage-tools is even
relevant to those distros.  Again though, this is more a question for
your distribution's maintainers than for us.
[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14
2021-05-24 Thread Luca
if anyone have a problem with oserror, as advice by Håkon Vågsether
(haakov) check 1 sec wait solution, another way that worked for me, i
have edit .service before start the install and changed the line 7  from
Type=simple to Type=idle, in fact man define:
Behavior of idle is very similar to simple; however, actual execution of
the service program is delayed until all active jobs are dispatched.
This may be used to avoid interleaving of output of shell services with
the status output on the console. Note that this type is useful only to
improve console output, it is not useful as a general unit ordering
tool, and the effect of this service type is subject to a 5s timeout,
after which the service program is invoked anyway.
[Bug 1929471] [NEW] Shim apparently fails to run fwupd64 (hirsute regression?)
2021-05-24 Thread Eugene Crosser
Public bug reported:
I am running hirsute on Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 7. Fwupdmgr used to work
on groovy. Now, fwupdmgr detects new firmware, successfully places the
.cap file in /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/fw/, successfully sets efi "next boot"
to 2 which is "Linux-Firmware-Updater", but on reboot, there are no
signs that fwupdx64 was attempted to be executed, and system drops
directly into grub.
Same when I use BIOS boot menu. There are entries for "ubuntu" and for
"Linux firmware updater", but selecting any of them boots grub.
After boot, EFI "BootCurrent" points to the updater entry, though it
apparently did not run!
These sympptoms match precisely a previous bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim/+bug/1864223
Could it be that the fix introduced then was lost, maybe due to signing
schedule?
There is a github ticket https://github.com/fwupd/firmware-lenovo-
thinkpad/issues/123 that could be explained by this problem too.
[Bug 1798089] Re: ClamAV do not processes CL_TYPE_RAR cdb custom signature format
2021-05-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
Thanks for investigating this Andrew, and it looks like you're right
that RAR support is not installed by default with clamav, presumably due
to the licensing situation.  The clamav binary package does have a
Suggests on libclamunrar though, and the packages appear to co-install
ok.
It also does look to be the case that the version numbers are
mismatched.  libclamunrar appears to be an extraction of a subdir from
the clamav git repo, so presumably when Debian updated clamav to 103.0,
libclamunrar should have been updated as well.  There is a bug report in
Debian's libclamunrar package that suggests this might be just due to
insufficient manpower.  Likely, a volunteer to help with this package in
Debian would be well received.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
