[Bug 1953239] [NEW] Files with multiple consecutive spaces cause errors
Public bug reported: I was trying to use checkinstall to create a package for projectM music visualizer which I compiled. I already made a tar.xz and was doing "sudo checkinstall tar -C / -xJf /d/projectm-linux-x86_64-20211102.tar.xz" and that was failing with a bunch of errors after "Installation successful": Installation successful == Copying files to the temporary directory...tar: ./usr/local/share/projectM/presets/presets_eyetune/New Creation Sensation - AdamFx,Flexi,Amandio c n Martin - Star to Another World ft Hexocollie n Shadow Harlequin n Geiss B.milk: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors tar: ./usr/local/share/projectM/presets/presets_milkdrop/Rovastar - Kalideostars (Round Round Mix).milk: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors tar: ./usr/local/share/projectM/presets/presets_mischa_collection/A New Definition for Milk - AdamFX - Laser Show in a Crystalstorm ft Orb n Martin Inside the Forge of Isengard.milk: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors tar: ./usr/local/share/projectM/presets/presets_mischa_collection/Stahlregen & AdamFX closer to god through bacon.milk: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors There is a lot more of this. These files indeed do not exist in the .tar.xz or on disk once it is extracted. I tracked down a bunch of the files, and all the corresponding files which do exist have two consecutive spaces in the file name. Apparently checkinstall turns two consecutive spaces into a single space, and then fails to find the file. As a simple test, I created a .tar.gz with "/usr/local/Hello World" (with two spaces between Hello and World) and "/usr/local/Hello World" (with a single space). Creating a package via "sudo checkinstall tar -C / -xzf /d/break_checkinstall_spaces.tar.gz", only the file with a single space gets included, though I don't see the "Cannot stat: No such file or directory" error. Using --fstrans=0 or --fstrans=no doesn't help. [Bug 95925] Re: debsecan should be either adjusted (for ubuntu) or removed
The unofficial database proposed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debsecan/+bug/95925/comments/12 appears to work. It's at least a major improvement on the current situation. I'd suggest that Ubuntu officially adopt the server-side tool and that appropriate updates are made to the defaults distributed with the package so that writing manual overrides to SUITE and SOURCE are not needed in /etc/default/debsecan to get usable results. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95925 Title: debsecan should be either adjusted (for ubuntu) or removed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debsecan/+bug/95925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1953234] Re: Unable to detect cache hierarchy for CPU 0
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1953234/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1946794] Re: unity-tweak-tool: GLib-GIO-ERROR
Sebastien, Got the changes done and tested but could not get the patch header via quilt to work so we are sans patch header. Clearly the other patch writers have another way to get a header into the patch so if we can find out how they are doing it I will be glad to add it and redo the debdiff. [Bug 1953235] [NEW] systemctl suspend stopped working: laptop immeadeately wakes up again
Public bug reported: I always suspend my laptop using `systemctl suspend`. It worked for a year as expected until today. Buggy Behavior: after `systemctl suspend` the seemingly usual suspend happens, however the laptop wakes up immediately. Things get more weird from here, as I need to input my password twice to get back into GNOME. Troubleshooting I did: 1. apt update && apt dist-upgrade 2. Disabled nvidia-suspend.service, nvidia-persistenced.service, nvidia-resume.service 3. Booted with an earlier kernel version where it used to work: `5.11.0-40`, `5.11.0-38` 3. Detached all devices, and the power cable 4. Rebooted into a separate user that has no tweaks, gnome-extensions etc 5. The issue persists -- I attached relevant parts of `journalctl`: from the time when I used `systemctl suspend` till a minute or so after I logged back into GNOME. [Bug 1945221] Re: CPU frequency stuck at minimum value..again Ubuntu 20.04.3
Try changing to the powersave governor. If something else set another pstate request and the intel_pstate driver doesn't know about it, then with the performance governor it might never send a new pstate request. All of this is very similar to a few months ago, on askubuntu and the path of investigation is the same. [Bug 1945221] Re: CPU frequency stuck at minimum value..again Ubuntu 20.04.3
If the intel_pstate scaling driver is "active" then "powersave" is the default governor. If the driver "passive" or the is the acpi-cpufreq driver during boot, then the default governor will be "ondemand". Note that "active-powersave" is crudely the equivalent of "passive-ondemand". You can eliminate these default settings by stopping and disabling the "ondemand" service. Without the service, the governor will be as defined by the kernel configuration file or the grub command line. Recently, Ubuntu has changed to "schedutil" as the default in the kernel configuration. $ grep CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT /boot/config-5.11.0-40-generic # CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_PERFORMANCE is not set # CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_POWERSAVE is not set # CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_USERSPACE is not set CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_SCHEDUTIL=y For these "few minutes" you mention, please run a load, for example "$ yes > /dev/null", while at the same time running the following turbostat command in another terminal: sudo turbostat --Summary --quiet --show Busy%,Bzy_MHz,IRQ,PkgWatt,PkgTmp,RAMWatt,GFXWatt,CorWatt --interval 10 And check all operating parameters after the slow down looking for any limiting change. [Bug 1952158] Re: squid does not accept WCCP of Cisco router since 3.5.27-1ubuntu1.12
Hi, The patch was backported from Squid 4 as no patch for Squid 3 was available. The code in wccp2.cpp is almost identical. The resulting code in wccp2.cpp is almost identical to the code in 4.13 in impish, so I suspect you'll hit the same regression with current versions of Squid. The only two commits that are different are the two following commits, which I don't believe could be causing the regression you are seeing: https://github.com/squid-cache/squid/commit/7f7b4fd3f9af404d5bc528f7a73320f3ed1cc7d4 https://github.com/squid-cache/squid/commit/43b6575c9823248357a1eca8a55db76fd6c848ca It would help to be able to test your environment with current versions of Squid to determine if this is caused by the upstream fix or not. [Bug 1950666] Re: system crash when removing ipmi_msghandler module
** Description changed: [IMPACT] Commit 3b9a907223d7 (ipmi: fix sleep-in-atomic in free_user at cleanup SRCU user->release_barrier) pushes the removal of an ipmi_user into the system's workqueue. Whenever an ipmi_user struct is about to be removed it is scheduled as a work on the system's workqueue to guarantee the free operation won't be executed in atomic context. When the work is executed the free_user_work() function is invoked which frees the ipmi_user. When ipmi_msghandler module is removed in cleanup_ipmi() function, there is no check if there are any pending works to be executed. [Bug 1953222] Re: apache2 won't start
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 (this bug report can be converted into a question) In order to process this bug report, we need more details. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1953222 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. [Bug 1953147] Re: This is an update issue: Msg reads; Dependency issues when updating linux-modules-nvidia-470-5.13.0-21-generic
This issue is solved now. I don't know if the Ubuntu packers fixed it or if it was me. In case it is the latter, I added the "proposed" repository and manually went through all nvidia files in aptitude and then was able to update. It installed a 650 and a 655 version of one of the files and that solved the dependency issue. Those files can be removed after the upgrade. [Bug 1908429] Re: gnome-shell fills syslog: Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection. This is most likely caused by destroying a Clutter actor or GTK widget with ::destroy signal conn
For info. The bug also means that the systemd journal is growing at an extremely fast rate. Double whammy. All these files by default reside in the root file system. Which is usually created quite small. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908429 Title: gnome-shell fills syslog: Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection. This is most likely caused by destroying a Clutter actor or GTK widget with ::destroy signal connected, or using the destroy(), dispose(), or remove() vfuncs. Because it would crash the application, it has been blocked. The offending callback was SourceFunc().
