[Bug 1956461] Re: Creative HD720p webcam doesn't work
I believe this bug was caused by this commit in the kernel: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/sound/usb/quirks- table.h?id=48827e1d6af58f219e89c7ec08dccbca28c7694e A patch to fix the issue was committed to the kernel 11 days ago: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/sound/usb/quirks- table.h?id=4ee02e20893d2f9e951c7888f2284fa608ddaa35 It appears that the problem is that after the buggy original patch, the snd-usb-audio module takes over the entire webcam and prevents the uvcvideo driver from accessing it. No idea how long it will take Ubuntu to bring this patch into their kernels. In the meantime, I'm assuming you could work around it by doing something like this (with the webcam plugged in) to force the uvcvideo driver to load first: sudo modprobe -r snd-usb-audio sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo sudo modprobe uvcvideo sudo modprobe snd-usb-audio -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956461 Title: Creative HD720p webcam doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1956461/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1958242] Re: mesa update freeze/crash screen before login
I was reticent to install some random ppa. But since compiling it myself would be some adventure. I removed my personal stuff and other data, changed passwords and then installed the kisak ppa. And it seems to work without issue. Just as well as in 20.04.5. The current version in the ppa is 21.3.6. I have no idea what was broken in 21.2.6. Was there really a need for messing with r300 drivers? dmesg shows neither errors or weird warnings about mesa. Everything seems ok. [Bug 1959970] Re: Microphone-mute LED regression with 5.13.0-28 kernel update
Hi Max, Understood. For bug1955691, it mentions "HP" and "mic-mute" only without product name that is because the product is pre-market when preparing the patch. We should not announce the support earlier than HP. This issue seems to me is not a regression. This function could be separated to few parts: 1. hotkey 2. mute/unmute 3. LED Could you please confirm below in both -27 and -28 kernel? 1. sudo evtest # when pressing mic mute key 2. when press hotkey the OSD should pop-up. 3. >After logging in to GNOME, opening the Sound settings and toggling the microphone mute state does cause the LED to follow future changes. Remaining changes: - Install/remove alternatives for the ubuntu palette. - Don't install python-newt example files. - Add correct build-dependencies on python3-all-dbg and libpython3-all-dbg, needed due to debian/patches/snack.patch. - Revert Debian's dropping of /etc/newt/palette.original, used as an alternative in Ubuntu. - Remove libnewt0.52.preinst altogether, which contains destructive operations with none of the appropriate version guards. - Drop call to update-alternatives --auto in our postinst, which would clobber the user's settings. -- Alexandre Ghiti Wed, 19 Jan 2022 14:31:39 +0100 ** Changed in: newt (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958502 Title: Please merge newt 0.52.21-5 (main) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/newt/+bug/1958502/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1845214] Re: Keyboard NumLock indicator turns off on connecting another keyboard
I've noticed the same thing… both on Ubuntu, and lately on Gentoo as well, so I'm thinking maybe something in udev / kernel has changed? I use FVWM2 as my desktop on both OSes. My desktop runs Ubuntu 20.04 (AMD64). On my laptop (Panasonic CF-53, which runs Gentoo) it's particularly insidious, plugging in the YubiKey (mine's a 5C which I use with a USB- A-C adaptor) causes NumLock to be turned on, and if your PIN code uses letters over the right-side of the keyboard, guess what? You're unwittingly typing numbers now! Cue confusion when the YubiKey rejects the PIN you just entered. I've locked myself out of the YubiKey once because of that -- had to go in with the PUK and unlock it. My desktop doesn't seem to secretly turn NumLock on; the state is retained, just the LED turns off. If we can figure out what mechanism is doing it in Ubuntu, I'll chase up what's doing it Gentoo-side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845214 Title: Keyboard NumLock indicator turns off on connecting another keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe/+bug/1845214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1960679] Re: Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot
After further investigation... it doesn't seem to be exactly what i thought it was. It seems to be that when dragging around the lowest icon in the selection everything else keeps getting a bigger gap between the dragged icon and itself and that's why I thought the top icon remained in place when dragging the bottom icon to a lower position... it just happened to gain a gap that put it in it's previous position -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960679 Title: Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng/+bug/1960679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954544] Re: No OpenSSL 3.0 support
I'm an evil person so I poked and prodded upstream to make sure they address this. OpenSSL 3.0 compat is in a branch here - https://github.com/chris2511/xca/compare/xca-240-ossl3 - which succeeded passing the build tests in my 'junk drawer' PPA which is used for build tests on all archs with proposed enabled (https://launchpad.net/~teward/+archive/ubuntu/junk-drawer/+packages). There was no FTBFS and I have committed a patch containing the upstream branch changes to the Debian Salsa, and will be uploading that to Mentors shortly for them to include there in Unstable (it's seemingly reverse-compatible with teh older OpenSSL as well in unstable); once this is there I'll sync it down to Ubuntu and we'll see if it succeeds in Jammy like it does in the PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954544 Title: No OpenSSL 3.0 support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xca/+bug/1954544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1960679] [NEW] Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot
Public bug reported: You can easily test this by setting up 2 or more icons on the desktop in any way then moving them in such a way that one of the icons will be moved to the spot where another icon currently is, but that other icon is also being moved by the same action to another empty spot. Behaviour: icons that are moved to the spot described above will stay in place Note: it has to do with the order the icons are moved so if you try moving icon 1 where icon 2 currently is and they are both moved correctly, try to move them so that icon 2 is moved where icon 1 is and it will have issues Ubuntu 21.10 Extension 20-0ubuntu3 ** Affects: gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960679 Title: Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng/+bug/1960679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1958592] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in mieqEnqueue() from queueEventList() from QueueKeyboardEvents() from xf86PostKeyEventM() from xf86PostKeyboardEvent()
It happened again, this time on the Lubuntu desktop, and this time I'm pretty sure there was a crash file with "xorg" in the name, but running ubuntu-bug might just have renamed it without sending anything... Anyway, it seems it wasn't the only thing that crashed, so might as well give you the link to the error report that does appear to have got sent: https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/2138bbc8-8b76-11ec-87d9-fa163e6cac46 That probably doesn't help a lot. But yeah, mentioning that something else seems to have crashed at the same time seems like the type of thing that probably doesn't matter but maybe it does. I've also heard from another person who got the crash today, not sure if that was on Ubuntu or something else (I do hope distributions have some coordination rather than fixing the bugs independently of each other, but I've started to wonder if they do). If it is getting annoying that I tell you every time I notice anything new, it's okay to tell me to stop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958592 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in mieqEnqueue() from queueEventList() from QueueKeyboardEvents() from xf86PostKeyEventM() from xf86PostKeyboardEvent() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1958592/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1960669] Re: the display doesn't appear after suspend, i915
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1960669/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1959971] Re: increase /boot partition size
I tested an installation of the daily image of Ubuntu 20.04 from 2022-02-11 (using lvm and encryption) and my boot partition has a size of 1.44G. This falls within the range we expected so I'm setting this to verification-done. ** Description changed: [Impact] All new installs of 20.04. [Test case] - 1) Install Ubuntu 20.04 on a system + 1) Install Ubuntu 20.04 with encryption (this'll create a separate /boot partition) on a system 2) Validate that the size of the /boot partition is greater than or equal to 768MB; should be somewhere between 768MB and 1536GB. - [Regression potential] - This may adversely affect installs on tiny disks, by taking up more space for the /boot partition than was previously taken, at the cost of / or /home. As such, failures to install due to insufficient space on a partition, or failure to partition a disk that was previously working should be investigated as possible regressions. + [Regression potential]This may adversely affect installs on tiny disks, by taking up more space for the /boot partition than was previously taken, at the cost of / or /home. As such, failures to install due to insufficient space on a partition, or failure to partition a disk that was previously working should be investigated as possible regressions. This is a corner case in general since there is no requirement to allocate a separate partition for /boot in the default configuration, and if you are using a non-default configuration where /boot must be a separate partition, you probably also don't have a disk so small that an additional 256MB of disk usage is a problem. --- The kernel in Jammy is a bit larger than the one in Focal and our previous /boot partition size calculation (LP: #1716999) likely didn't take into account adding modules like nvidia to the initramfs. Subsequently, we need to revisit the size calculations for Focal. I'm utilizing cryptsetup and nvidia modules and have a 164M initrd when using lz4 (the default in Focal) compression. Using the same formula we previously did we end up with this: 2* (3*11 + 4*164 + 11) = 1400 So modifying the maximum size to 1536 seems reasonable, the current minimum is 512 which is actually a bit too small for an initrd with less modules e.g.: 2* (3*11 + 4*62 + 11) = 584 So the minimum should also be increased to 768. The default compression level for Jammy is currently being discussed and until that is decided we shouldn't make changes to partman-auto for Jammy. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-focal ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959971 Title: increase /boot partition size To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-auto/+bug/1959971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
