[Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint in flash when it uses video acceleration
Jan: No, I have not experienced any obvious stability issues when I activated EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode. My CPU is a quad-core Intel Q6700 @ 2.66GHz, with hyper-threading diabled. I am only using Firefox that comes bundled with my 32bit Ubuntu- installation and upgraded as usual (currently Ubuntu 11.10 with Firefox 12.0 and Linux-kernel 3.0.0-20-generic-pae) You have more information about my hardware/setup in my initial/duplicate bugreport, Bug #972314. If I can help you by running any tests or if you want any any specific dump/logfiles, just tell me what/how to do it. ** Attachment added: My CPU-information, which does not make flash-player unstable with EnableHWVideoDecode. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin/+bug/967091/+attachment/3166765/+files/cpuinfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/967091 Title: Wrong tint in flash when it uses video acceleration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libvdpau/+bug/967091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 972314] [NEW] Flash-player is showing inverted (or corrupted) videos.
Public bug reported: After an upgrade flash-player started to show corrupted videos, as shown in the attached screenshot. Pictures and texts are not corrupten in flash-material. Hardware acceleration is on according to debug information. It might be the source of the problem, but I have not been able to deactivate it yet. [Bug 718448] [NEW] Update flashplayer to 10.2rc2 in Ubuntu 11.04 alfa/beta
Public bug reported: Hello, I would like Ubuntu to be bleeding edge during alfa-stages and stabilize during beta/rc-stages. Adobe flash player 10.2 are already in rc-stage (rc2 at the moment) and hopefully (my wishes) to be released as stable 10.2 before Ubuntu 11.04 will be released. [Bug 427851] [NEW] iPod (HFS+) is mounted read-only
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hfsplus I am using Ubunu 8.04 LTS (desktop edition) fully updated as of today and an iPod mini in Mac-mode (using HFS+ instead of FAT32). When I mount my iPod it complains in dmesg that it can not be mounted in rw-mode when the filesystem is using a journal acording to dmesg output (attached file dmesg.log). How do I mount the iPod in rw-mode so I can use it? I have read[1], and as far as I understood, the linux-kernel can be compiled with write- support for HFS+. Does Ubuntu (LTS) support writing on HFS+ volumes (is this a bug in my installation or do Ubuntu in general lack write support for HFS+)? Can I install a package to enable write-support on journaed HFS+ volumes? If so, which one? Another issue is that Rhythmbox (0.11.5) does not complain about writing-issues if I try to transfer music to the iPod. It just silently ignore the transfer, which is not user-friendly. I think it would be better if Rhythmbox notified the user that the iPod is mounted in read- only mode. By the way, the message in dmesg when the iPod (HFS+) is mounted is misspelled. I think jounal should be journal. [Bug 277903] Re: Missing Operating System [message at boot]
I am also affected by this bug. I booted Ubuntu 9.04-i386 image from CD. To be sure the usbdrive is empty i run the following command first: $ sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc After dd was finished cleaning the usbdrive I run the tool USB disk creator and formatted the usbdrive from within the tool. I could then boot the usbdrive on one of my computers but on the other one I get Could not find kernel image: linux. After that I followed the blog and deleted the partition with fdisk and created a new fat32-partition with GParted instead (including boot and lba options) and then copied the CD onto the usbdrive with USB disk creator, without formatting the drive inside the tool. And that worked for me! I can now boot the usbdrive from both my computers. The failing motherboard is Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G, BIOS version F11 (04/23/2007). The output from the diagnostic MBR (the link from TJ on 2009-03-30) when I hold CTRL-key own during boot is: L D80 C07C HFF S3F P1 O003F MAA55 E00. [Bug 344761] [NEW] XFS corrupts data when filesystem full (on sw-raid5)
Public bug reported: My file server is using Ubuntu 8.04.2 and has a software raid5 volume (mdadm) that is formatted with XFS. The volume is ~1TB (4x320GB). The root-partition is mounted from a USB-flashdrive (1GB large). The volume got full by mistake and a program tried repeatedly to write to the full volume (not as root), and succeeded. This resulted in the server began to behave strangely. The server load was up for about 7.00 despite the fact that top showed that both cores was idling. After a reboot, the XFS volume could not be mounted, error message: XFS: log mount / recovery failed: error 5 XFS: log mount failed mount: /dev/md0: can not read super block After I run # xfs_repair -L /dev/md0 the files that were written when the disk was full ended up in lost+found, and when I tried to run # xfs_check /dev/md0 the whole system freezed after about 20min. I could make a hard reset and mount the file system, but not use xfs_check without freezing the system again. If you need more details, tell me what commands to run. I have four main questions/problems: 1) Why a non-root program could write to the full volume. 2) Why xfs_check freeze my whole system. 3) Could the problems be caused by a corrupted USB-flashdrive (corrupted binaries)? 4) How do I check the USB-drive for corruption (so I can exclude it from this bug)? ** Affects: xfsprogs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- XFS corrupts data when filesystem full (on sw-raid5) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344761 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

My installation is fully updated as of today. $ aptitude show lirc gives the following version output: 0.8.3-0ubuntu2 $ dmesg | grep imon gives the following: lirc_imon: Driver for Soundgraph iMON MultiMedia IR/VFD w/imon pad2keys patch, v0.3p2k If I select Soundgraph iMON MultiMedian IR/VFD in Mythbuntu controlcenter, no keybindings work with MythTV and irw can connect but does not respond to anything. If I instead select Soundgraph iMON PAD IR/VFD in Mythbuntu controlcenter, the keybindings work with MythTV and irw can connect and respond to almost every keys (exept pad and powerbutton). When I put options lirc_imon pad2keys_active=1 in /etc/modprobe.d/options I can not see any changes and my Pad is still not working. If I run mode2 as root and pushing the Pad-keys I get the following response, but irw can still not recognize the Pad-keys: # mode2 -d /dev/lirc0 code: 0x690281b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x688291b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x690281b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x688291b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x688291b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x690281b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x690281b7 code: 0x688a81b7 code: 0x6a8281b7 code: 0x690281b7 Can someone tell me what I am missing? -- lirc needs pad2keys patch included https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 25632] Re: SPDIF won't play PCM after playing AC3
Now I have found part of a solution. When I run the following commands for about 20 seconds each, I get back the PCM signal and during the speakertest, I can hear the test sound. When I stop the test sound the PCM signal is still left (as it should) but I can not play any other sterio sounds (like ogg-files for example) thru the PCM signal. If I switch to analog output, I hear the sterio sound, so the mediaplayer is obviously working. If I play AC3 or DTS, it works and when I stop the AC3/DTS signal the PCM signal swaps back, just as it should (except that it is dead silent). $ speaker-test -c2 --device cards.pcm.iec958 --rate 44100 $ speaker-test -c2 --device cards.pcm.iec958 --rate 48000 I hope this helps someone! [Bug 292621] [NEW] synaptics fail to update if home directory is located on nfs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic Hello, I have a client station running Ubuntu 8.10-desktop-i386 where /home is mounted through NFS (without no_root_squash option) and when I try to run sudo apt-get update or sudo aptitude update when my working directory is my home folder (under /home) or when I try to update repository with synaptics the update process is halted with the following error: (swedish output): E: Kunde inte byta till /home/dummyuser/ - chdir (13 Åtkomst nekas) E: Kunde inte rensa ut listkataloger I guess the error occurs because the local rootuser (sudo user) is mapped to nobody on the NFS-server and therefore does not have permission to access the home directories. [Bug 234185] Re: Alternate CD cdrom-detect.postinst does not consider USB flash drive/key.
Hi, I'm struggling with booting Ubuntu 8.10 Beta (Alternate) from USBdisk which I created via UNetbootin 282. I have read throu this tread and have a proposl that might sove your problem with multiple detected cdroms. I vote for scanning all media (cd-drives aswell as usb-devices) and if more than one installationmedia is found, ask the user what media to use! I don't like it when things get to automated and hidden from the user. In use-cases where more than one installation-media is found, the user have probably good knowledge about the medias found and is capable of choosing the correct one. Another use-case, which I am part of, is the ability to have two or three iso-files on a large USB-stick, say for example ubuntu_8.10_alternate.iso, debian_lenny.iso and ubuntu_eee_8.10.iso and during bootup or in cdrom-detect I would like to chose the proper iso-file for installation depending where i am installing at the moment. For this to work cdrom-detect needs to search for *.iso in all medias (usb-disks mostly) and loop-mount what it find as a virtual cd. Is there anyone that can help me with this bug, please? Here is some more information I've discoverd. First the keyboard acts normal (while the DVB-adapter is in normal state) and when the adapter starts to flood error-messages the keyboard takes aproximately 5seconds for each keypress and at some random time the keyboard flood inputs when a key is pressed (if I press k I get k of random length). After the install I end up with a corrupt disk (Grub Error 5 after reboot from LiveCD). This is a very serious problem for me and I need help to solve it. [Bug 221737] Re: upsd doesn't start on system startup
I agree to Mathias, this is a strange behavior. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 server (amd64) and nut version 2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.1 and experience this same behavior. [Bug 229879] [NEW] My DVB-card is flooding the consol with recv bulk message failed
Public bug reported: Hello, I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Server (amd64) and I have a Devico FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital. It is a PCI-card but the second tuner is plugged in thru USB2. The first tuner (PCI-based) is working properly. I can tune signals, watch livetv with it and I have not found any error messages when using it alone. The PIC-tuner is located at /dev/dvb/adapter0 The second tuner is only found in cold state during boot and is not activated. To solve that I had to download the bluebird-firmware from http://www.linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/dvb-usb-bluebird-01.fw and save it in /lib/firmware. When I do a cold boot with the firmware available the second tuner (USB- tuner) is found but I sometimes receive this message during boot: dvb- usb: bulk message failed: -71 (2/0). The tuner is found and activated anyway and I see the second tuner as /dev/dvb/adapter1 with the same nodes/files as the PCI-tuner (demux0, dvr0, frontend0, net0). I have not tried to use it yet. When the computer has been online, idling, for some short random time (typically 10-15 minutes) I start to get floods of the following error message in the consol (typically one per second): dvb-usb: bulk message failed: -110 (1/0). If I do a warm reboot I sometime reboot fine (without error messages shown at boottime) and sometimes with some similar error messages. I have seen -71, -22 and -110. [Bug 139832] Re: [gutsy] rt61 wireless stops working after several minutes
I can also confirm that this driver is buggy. I have D-Link DWL-G510 rev C2 (RT61) that I tried to use on a fresh Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10-i386 install (updated up to date by 2007-12-18). The hardware is detected and scan the area just fine. It finds my wifi-network, but I can't connect to it (WPA/WPA2-protected). I read something about disabling SMP and PREEMPT, and rebuild the kernel to make the CVS-driver work correctly, but that workaround will generate a lot of work to keep the kernel up to date in the near future, I guess. I ended up solving the problem by installing ndiswrapper and use the xp-drivers bundled with the hardware (version 5.00). I did as follows: $ echo 'blacklist rt61pci' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist $ sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 ndiswrapper-common ndisgtk And then I started the graphical ndisgtk from System Administration Windows Wireless drivers. The hardware was found automatically and I added the drivers directly from the bundled install-cd ( /cdrom/Drivers/Drivers/Win2kXP/NetRt61G.INF ). At last I rebooted and after that it has worked 99% of the time together with network-manager (the wifi-card looses signal strength down to ~20% some short periods of time, but nothing that has affected the connectivity). I will keep it this way until there is a working, stable, native driver available in the main repository. I hope this can help some of you that want to get your DWL-G510-card working. -- [gutsy] rt61 wireless stops working after several minutes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139832 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 119224] xfs_admin gives fatal error when trying to label mounted device
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfsprogs I'm runnig Ubuntu Feisty (amd64) and have formatted my sw-raid5 device with XFS, but I forgot to label it. When I later run... # xfs_admin -L my_new_label /dev/md0 ... I got the following errormessage: xfs_admin: /dev/md0 contains a mounted filesystem fatal error -- couldn't initialize XFS library. Okey, I know that I can't label the filesystem when it is mounted (at least now, after the error message), but my point is that the fatal error shouldn't appear, even if the filesystem is mounted. xfs_admin shouldn't try to label if it find the drive mounted (if that is why the message appear), and therefor shouldn't give errormessages. Here is a bash-script I wrote as a temporary workaround for the broken scsi_id. It works for me together with the modified udev-rule I posted earlier. [Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks
I forgot some info... The script needs to be run as root, because smartctl only work as the rootuser. The script has one, and only one argument. The argument is the path tho the drive that is bypassed to smartctl. Like this: # ./smartctl_id.sh /dev/sda And to use the modidified udev-rules together with smartctl_id you need to edit the import-lines from scsi_id to smartctl_id. The old lines: KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==, IMPORT{program}=scsi_id -g -x -s %p -d $tempnode KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==, IMPORT{program}=scsi_id -g -x -a -s %p -d $tempnode Should be exchanged with this line: KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==, IMPORT{program}=smartctl_id.sh /dev/%k -- ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I just found that my usb devices (sde sdf) became double named with my code change. I tailed it down to usb_id that also have a messed up output. The difference between scsi_id and usb_id is that usb_id does not cut the output at a fixed length, so it's not a large trouble, it just produce very long symlinks with the ID_MODEL twice. ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info = Unconfirmed -- ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks
I see no hardware-ID anywhere in the output. The only thing it confirms is that I'm using encryption on the disks (sda - sdd). And yes, I do use encryption and I do it without a partitiontable. The four disks are part of an encrypted raid5-array (/dev/md0) which is not attached/mounted at the moment. I did not think the missing partitiontable or the encryption messed up udev's ability to locate/find the hardware-id of the disks. Am I wrong about that? Btw, why isn't encrypted disks shown in /dev/disk/by-uuid? It looks like they have a proper UUID. # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/hda {Empty output} # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sda ID_FS_USAGE=crypto ID_FS_TYPE=crypto_LUKS ID_FS_VERSION= ID_FS_UUID=85f64d57-0de1-4a82-98b6-5ae6d686f9ef ID_FS_LABEL= ID_FS_LABEL_SAFE= # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sdb ID_FS_USAGE=crypto ID_FS_TYPE=crypto_LUKS ID_FS_VERSION= ID_FS_UUID=b52bc279-4d18-4d30-8acf-2fdb883ad963 ID_FS_LABEL= ID_FS_LABEL_SAFE= # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sdc ID_FS_USAGE=crypto ID_FS_TYPE=crypto_LUKS ID_FS_VERSION= ID_FS_UUID=6e84c4b3-4a04-4afd-90ff-38ef5f15c300 ID_FS_LABEL= ID_FS_LABEL_SAFE= # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sdd ID_FS_USAGE=crypto ID_FS_TYPE=crypto_LUKS ID_FS_VERSION= ID_FS_UUID=c7665c2a-6930-42d3-841a-06b551fe2ab5 ID_FS_LABEL= ID_FS_LABEL_SAFE= # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sde {Empty output} # /lib/udev/vol_id /dev/sdf {Empty output} -- ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
