[Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint in flash when it uses video acceleration

2012-05-28 Thread Anders Häggström
Jan: No, I have not experienced any obvious stability issues when I
activated EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode.

My CPU is a quad-core Intel Q6700 @ 2.66GHz, with hyper-threading
diabled.

I am only using Firefox that comes bundled with my 32bit Ubuntu-
installation and upgraded as usual (currently Ubuntu 11.10 with Firefox
12.0 and Linux-kernel 3.0.0-20-generic-pae)

You have more information about my hardware/setup in my
initial/duplicate bugreport, Bug #972314.

If I can help you by running any tests or if you want any any specific
dump/logfiles, just tell me what/how to do it.

** Attachment added: My CPU-information, which does not make flash-player
unstable with EnableHWVideoDecode.

My card is also affected and adding EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode = 1 to
/etc/adobe/mms.cfg (and restart Firefox) helps for my setup without any
obvious bugs/artefacts added.

[Bug 972314] [NEW] Flash-player is showing inverted (or corrupted) videos.

2012-04-03 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

After an upgrade flash-player started to show corrupted videos, as shown
in the attached screenshot. Pictures and texts are not corrupten in
flash-material.

Hardware acceleration is on according to debug information. It might be
the source of the problem, but I have not been able to deactivate it
yet.

The video in the screenshot is found here, but the problem affects all videos
shown thought flash-player.

[Bug 718448] [NEW] Update flashplayer to 10.2rc2 in Ubuntu 11.04 alfa/beta

2011-02-13 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I would like Ubuntu to be bleeding edge during alfa-stages and
stabilize during beta/rc-stages. Adobe flash player 10.2 are already in
rc-stage (rc2 at the moment) and hopefully (my wishes) to be released as
stable 10.2 before Ubuntu 11.04 will be released.

The software have some interesting new feautures, for example vdpau (and
hopefully vaapi) hardware decoding for video.

Is it possible for you to upgrade the package flashplugin-installer in
Ubuntu 11.04 from 10.1.102.65ubuntu2 to 10.2-rc2 (and later to 10.2
stable)?

Regards
Anders

[Bug 508011] [NEW] XSane nor 'scanimage -L' does not find plexgear 35mm FilmScanner

2010-01-15 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

I have Ubuntu 9.10 (amd64) fully updated as of today.

I connected my newly brought 35mm-filmscanner (plexgear SCND502E1231)
but XSane (0.996-2ubuntu1.1) does not find the scanner. Is there any
drivers availible or under construction,or is there a bug somewhere?

If I run $ scanimage -L I get the following output:

check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

[Bug 427851] [NEW] iPod (HFS+) is mounted read-only

2009-09-11 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hfsplus

I am using Ubunu 8.04 LTS (desktop edition) fully updated as of today
and an iPod mini in Mac-mode (using HFS+ instead of FAT32).

When I mount my iPod it complains in dmesg that it can not be mounted in
rw-mode when the filesystem is using a journal acording to dmesg output
(attached file dmesg.log).

How do I mount the iPod in rw-mode so I can use it? I have read[1], and
as far as I understood, the linux-kernel can be compiled with write-
support for HFS+. Does Ubuntu (LTS) support writing on HFS+ volumes (is
this a bug in my installation or do Ubuntu in general lack write support
for HFS+)? Can I install a package to enable write-support on journaed
HFS+ volumes? If so, which one?

Another issue is that Rhythmbox (0.11.5) does not complain about
writing-issues if I try to transfer music to the iPod. It just silently
ignore the transfer, which is not user-friendly. I think it would be
better if Rhythmbox notified the user that the iPod is mounted in read-
only mode.

By the way, the message in dmesg when the iPod (HFS+) is mounted is
misspelled. I think jounal should be journal.

[Bug 277903] Re: Missing Operating System [message at boot]

2009-04-26 Thread Anders Häggström
I am also affected by this bug. I booted Ubuntu 9.04-i386 image from CD. To be
sure the usbdrive is empty i run the following command first:
$ sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc

After dd was finished cleaning the usbdrive I run the tool USB disk
creator and formatted the usbdrive from within the tool.

I could then boot the usbdrive on one of my computers but on the other
one I get Could not find kernel image: linux.

After that I followed the blog and deleted the partition with fdisk and
created a new fat32-partition with GParted instead (including boot and
lba options) and then copied the CD onto the usbdrive with USB disk
creator, without formatting the drive inside the tool.

And that worked for me! I can now boot the usbdrive from both my
computers.

The failing motherboard is Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G, BIOS version F11
(04/23/2007).

The output from the diagnostic MBR (the link from TJ on 2009-03-30) when
I hold CTRL-key own during boot is: L D80 C07C HFF S3F P1 O003F
MAA55 E00. I have no clue of what that means but I hope it is valuble
for TJ. :)

[Bug 344761] [NEW] XFS corrupts data when filesystem full (on sw-raid5)

2009-03-18 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

My file server is using Ubuntu 8.04.2 and has a software raid5 volume (mdadm)
that is formatted with XFS. The volume is ~1TB (4x320GB).
The root-partition is mounted from a USB-flashdrive (1GB large).

The volume got full by mistake and a program tried repeatedly to write
to the full volume (not as root), and succeeded. This resulted in the
server began to behave strangely. The server load was up for about 7.00
despite the fact that top showed that both cores was idling.

After a reboot, the XFS volume could not be mounted, error message:
XFS: log mount / recovery failed: error 5
XFS: log mount failed
mount: /dev/md0: can not read super block

After I run # xfs_repair -L /dev/md0 the files that were written when
the disk was full ended up in lost+found, and when I tried to run #
xfs_check /dev/md0 the whole system freezed after about 20min. I could
make a hard reset and mount the file system, but not use xfs_check
without freezing the system again.

If you need more details, tell me what commands to run.

I have four main questions/problems:
1) Why a non-root program could write to the full volume.
2) Why xfs_check freeze my whole system.
3) Could the problems be caused by a corrupted USB-flashdrive (corrupted
binaries)?
4) How do I check the USB-drive for corruption (so I can exclude it from this
bug)?

[Bug 326594] [NEW] Cacti depend on Apache2 when I have LigHTTPd installed.

2009-02-07 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cacti

I am running Ubuntu 8.04.2, fully updated as of 2009-02-06.

I'm using LigHTTPd (1.4.19-0ubuntu3) with php5 (5.2.4-2ubuntu5.4) and
when I tried to install cacti (0.8.7b-2ubuntu1) aptitude wanted to
install apache2. I don't want to use apache2 because I have lighttpd
installed.

According to this howto (
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=643976 ) there should be a
dialog from where I can choose to ignore apache2, but I didn't get any
dialog when I tried to install cacti. A log from my install is attached.

This post might be related:
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-d...@lists.debian.org/msg202567.html
This bug might also be related to bug #29008.

I would be glad if someone could fix this dependency-issue, thanks!

[Bug 25632] Re: SPDIF won't play PCM after playing AC3

2008-12-27 Thread Anders Häggström
I can confirm this annoying issue on Interpid (Mythbuntu 8.10) and
would be very glad if anyone could help me solve this.

I can play AC3 (and DTS) surround just fine on my digital output using
MPlayer, but I can not play PCM on my digital output (which I could in
the beginning until something happend that I don't know). My analog
output can play PCM.

lspci tells this:

If you need more logs or output from me, just tell me what to do.

[Bug 153184] Re: lirc needs pad2keys patch included

2008-12-27 Thread Anders Häggström
Hi,

I am trying to get my iMon-Pad working with Mythbuntu 8.10, so far
without luck.. My installation is fully updated as of today.

$ aptitude show lirc gives the following version output: 0.8.3-0ubuntu2
$ dmesg | grep imon gives the following: lirc_imon: Driver for Soundgraph
iMON MultiMedia IR/VFD w/imon pad2keys patch, v0.3p2k

If I select Soundgraph iMON MultiMedian IR/VFD in Mythbuntu controlcenter, no
keybindings work with MythTV and irw can connect but does not respond to
anything.
If I instead select Soundgraph iMON PAD IR/VFD in Mythbuntu controlcenter,
the keybindings work with MythTV and irw can connect and respond to almost
every keys (exept pad and powerbutton).

When I put options lirc_imon pad2keys_active=1 in
/etc/modprobe.d/options I can not see any changes and my Pad is still
not working.

If I run mode2 as root and pushing the Pad-keys I get the following
response, but irw can still not recognize the Pad-keys:

[Bug 25632] Re: SPDIF won't play PCM after playing AC3

2008-12-27 Thread Anders Häggström
Now I have found part of a solution.

When I run the following commands for about 20 seconds each, I get back the PCM
signal and during the speakertest, I can hear the test sound. When I stop the
test sound the PCM signal is still left (as it should) but I can not play any
other sterio sounds (like ogg-files for example) thru the PCM signal. If I
switch to analog output, I hear the sterio sound, so the mediaplayer is
obviously working.
If I play AC3 or DTS, it works and when I stop the AC3/DTS signal the PCM
signal swaps back, just as it should (except that it is dead silent).

$ speaker-test -c2 --device cards.pcm.iec958 --rate 44100
$ speaker-test -c2 --device cards.pcm.iec958 --rate 48000

I hope this helps someone! I still need help solving my problem, why my
PCM signal is silent.

[Bug 292621] [NEW] synaptics fail to update if home directory is located on nfs

2008-11-02 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

Hello,

I have a client station running Ubuntu 8.10-desktop-i386 where /home is
mounted through NFS (without no_root_squash option) and when I try to
run sudo apt-get update or sudo aptitude update when my working
directory is my home folder (under /home) or when I try to update
repository with synaptics the update process is halted with the
following error:

(swedish output):
E: Kunde inte byta till /home/dummyuser/ - chdir (13 Åtkomst nekas)
E: Kunde inte rensa ut listkataloger

I guess the error occurs because the local rootuser (sudo user) is
mapped to nobody on the NFS-server and therefore does not have
permission to access the home directories.

A temporary workaround is to change working directory to /tmp and use
sudo aptitude update but I still get error about accessing a file
.dpkg.conf in my home directory when I try to install any packege with
cd /tmp  aptitude install anypackage.

I did not have any errors using synaptics/apt-get/aptitude before I
upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04.1 (Hardy) to Ubuntu 8.10 (Interpid).

[Bug 234185] Re: Alternate CD cdrom-detect.postinst does not consider USB flash drive/key.

2008-10-03 Thread Anders Häggström
Hi, I'm struggling with booting Ubuntu 8.10 Beta (Alternate) from
USBdisk which I created via UNetbootin 282.

I have read throu this tread and have a proposl that might sove your
problem with multiple detected cdroms. I vote for scanning all media
(cd-drives aswell as usb-devices) and if more than one installationmedia
is found, ask the user what media to use! I don't like it when things
get to automated and hidden from the user.

In use-cases where more than one installation-media is found, the user
have probably good knowledge about the medias found and is capable of
choosing the correct one.

Another use-case, which I am part of, is the ability to have two or three
iso-files on a large USB-stick, say for example ubuntu_8.10_alternate.iso,
debian_lenny.iso and ubuntu_eee_8.10.iso and during bootup or in
cdrom-detect I would like to chose the proper iso-file for installation
depending where i am installing at the moment.
For this to work cdrom-detect needs to search for *.iso in all medias
(usb-disks mostly) and loop-mount what it find as a virtual cd.

Thats my two cents

[Bug 156085] Re: Could not open /proc/bus/usb/devices

When KVM has been installed, the group kvm is created. I suspect the

One of these groups may be possible to use? KVM/QEMU should of course be
run as a separate user, who is a member of any of these groups in a
typical installation.

[Bug 229879] Re: My DVB-card is flooding the consol with recv bulk message failed

2008-06-04 Thread Anders Häggström
Is there anyone that can help me with this bug, please?

Here is some more information I've discoverd.
When I try to install Mythbuntu 8.04 (amd64) with the usb-adapter installed my
keyborard acts wierd. First the keyboard acts normal (while the DVB-adapter is
in normal state) and when the adapter starts to flood error-messages the
keyboard takes aproximately 5seconds for each keypress and at some random time
the keyboard flood inputs when a key is pressed (if I press k I get
k of random length). After the install I end up
with a corrupt disk (Grub Error 5 after reboot from LiveCD).

This is a very serious problem for me and I need help to solve it.

Another thing to know is that Mythbuntu comes bundled with the firmware
on the LiveCD and that causes this behaivor by default. Ubuntu does not
have the firmware loaded by default.

Manual start is still working but is, at least in my case, unwanted.

PS. Why was this bug marked as invalid? Is it a normal behavior for this

[Bug 221737] Re: upsd doesn't start on system startup

2008-05-17 Thread Anders Häggström
I agree to Mathias, this is a strange behavior. In my opinion a newly
installed service should autostart, or at least give a hint during
installation that a configuration is needed before it is able to start
up, and a short description how to accomplish that.

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 server (amd64) and nut version 2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.1 and

A fix for this bug/behavior could be one of the following:
1) Change the default behavior to autostart the service and change the
startup/init-script to signal No configuration file is found during boot, if
that is the case, and return Failed.
2) Leave a message in the end of the installation that nut needs to be
configured before it can be started, and include the START_UPSD=yes options
in the config-files so you do not have to edit /etc/defaults/nut
3) Change the default behavior to autostart and try to autoconfigure nut during

[Bug 231449] [NEW] torrentflux depend on apache when when lighttpd is installed

2008-05-17 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Torrentflux depend on unnecessary apache-modules.

I have lighttpd + php-cgi installed and this configuration is working
good, until I decided to try torrentflux. I searched throu internet and
found some good howtos for lighttpd+php5+torrentflux, but I think it is
much easier to install it as a package, but I was wrong about that.

I would like to see a change in the .deb's to be compatible with

compatible already.

Here is some information I found about torrentflux+lighttpd+php5:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=461605

Maby this is more a wishlist than a bug?

[Bug 231212] [NEW] UPS services does not autostart during boot.

2008-05-16 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nut

I recently made a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 Server and at the same time
installed nut for communicating with my UPS, a Belkin Universal UPS
(F6C120xxUNV). The installation made good progress and after some
troubleshooting with the serial port I made contact with my UPS.
After next reboot I lost contact again.

To regain contact I had to manually start the driver, and then manually start
the daemon.
$ sudo upsdrvctl start sudo upsd

I checked the UPS connection with this command, and a long list of intresting
details showed up:
$ upsc [EMAIL PROTECTED]

when I tried to shut down the UPS-services I tried the following command, but
it didn't react, I am still connected to my UPS afterwards.
$ sudo sh /etc/init.d/nut stop

If you need debugging info, logfiles or any other output, just tell me
what to do.

[Bug 229879] [NEW] My DVB-card is flooding the consol with recv bulk message failed

2008-05-13 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Hello, I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Server (amd64) and I have a Devico FusionHDTV
DVB-T Dual Digital. It is a PCI-card but the second tuner is plugged in thru
USB2.
The first tuner (PCI-based) is working properly. I can tune signals, watch
livetv with it and I have not found any error messages when using it alone. The
PIC-tuner is located at /dev/dvb/adapter0
The second tuner is only found in cold state during boot and is not activated.
To solve that I had to download the bluebird-firmware from
http://www.linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/dvb-usb-bluebird-01.fw and save it in
/lib/firmware.

When I do a cold boot with the firmware available the second tuner (USB-
tuner) is found but I sometimes receive this message during boot: dvb-
usb: bulk message failed: -71 (2/0). The tuner is found and activated
anyway and I see the second tuner as /dev/dvb/adapter1 with the same
nodes/files as the PCI-tuner (demux0, dvr0, frontend0, net0). I have not
tried to use it yet.

When the computer has been online, idling, for some short random time
(typically 10-15 minutes) I start to get floods of the following error
message in the consol (typically one per second): dvb-usb: bulk message
failed: -110 (1/0).

If I do a warm reboot I sometime reboot fine (without error messages
shown at boottime) and sometimes with some similar error messages. I
have seen -71, -22 and -110.

During a forum-search I found this tread, but it does not seams related to my
problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=373192

Bug #78949 seems to be related to this one, but its old and not for my
hardware.

[Bug 139832] Re: [gutsy] rt61 wireless stops working after several minutes

2007-12-18 Thread Anders Häggström
I can also confirm that this driver is buggy. I have D-Link DWL-G510 rev C2
(RT61) that I tried to use on a fresh Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10-i386 install (updated
up to date by 2007-12-18).
The hardware is detected and scan the area just fine. It finds my wifi-network,
but I can't connect to it (WPA/WPA2-protected). I read something about
disabling SMP and PREEMPT, and rebuild the kernel to make the CVS-driver work
correctly, but that workaround will generate a lot of work to keep the kernel
up to date in the near future, I guess.

I ended up solving the problem by installing ndiswrapper and use the xp-drivers
bundled with the hardware (version 5.00).
I did as follows:

$ echo 'blacklist rt61pci' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
$ sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 ndiswrapper-common ndisgtk

And then I started the graphical ndisgtk from System Administration
Windows Wireless drivers. The hardware was found automatically and I added the
drivers directly from the bundled install-cd (
/cdrom/Drivers/Drivers/Win2kXP/NetRt61G.INF ).
At last I rebooted and after that it has worked 99% of the time together with
network-manager (the wifi-card looses signal strength down to ~20% some short
periods of time, but nothing that has affected the connectivity).

I will keep it this way until there is a working, stable, native driver
available in the main repository.

I hope this can help some of you that want to get your DWL-G510-card
working.

[Bug 162197] Language pack not installed correctly from LiveCD

2007-11-12 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

I was booting Ubuntu 7.10 LiveCD and choosing Swedish by pressing F2 at
boot, but Ubuntu shows up in a mix of Swedish and English.
An example is the menu titles in English language but the menu items in Swedish
language and Firefox is entirely in english.

After running the installation and choosing Swedish at the installation
prompt, the installed version shows the same mix of Swedish and English.

My workaround was to install the following packages:
language-support-sv
language-pack-sv
language-pack-sv-base
language-pack-gnome-sv
language-pack-gnome-sv-base

I think these packages should be installed by default because I selected

[Bug 119224] xfs_admin gives fatal error when trying to label mounted device

2007-06-07 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfsprogs

I'm runnig Ubuntu Feisty (amd64) and have formatted my sw-raid5 device
with XFS, but I forgot to label it.

When I later run...
# xfs_admin -L my_new_label /dev/md0
... I got the following errormessage:
xfs_admin: /dev/md0 contains a mounted filesystem

fatal error -- couldn't initialize XFS library.

Okey, I know that I can't label the filesystem when it is mounted (at
least now, after the error message), but my point is that the fatal
error shouldn't appear, even if the filesystem is mounted. xfs_admin
shouldn't try to label if it find the drive mounted (if that is why the
message appear), and therefor shouldn't give errormessages. Just a
notify, like the first line in the error-message, and that only, in my
opinion.

[Bug 118833] Re: Kernel soft lockup detected on CPU#0 under heavy I/O on AMD64 Feisty, elevator.c

2007-06-07 Thread Anders Häggström
I got the same error message about every ten seconds when I was creating my
sw-raid5 array (mdadm --create) ontop of four luks-crypted disks, which give
heavy I/O in common.
And the errors showed up again when I was writing fast onto the array (dd
if=/dev/zero of=/dev/md0 @ ~50MB/s), but I didn't got any errors when I was
reading fast (dd if=/dev/md0 of=/dev/null @ ~60MB/s) or when I was writing
slow onto it (400GB data @ ~8MB/s from 100MBit/s NFS-mount).

2007-05-25 Thread Anders Häggström
I'm another one in the list of people affected by this bug.
smartmontools worked out just fine on my old installation (64-bit fully updated
Edgy), as long as I added -d ata to the command. In Feisty I get the exact
same error as the first post.

Today I have tried starting from the live-cd (64-bit, if that makes any
difference) and only installed smartmontools (v5.36) but I get the same
result as I do with my harddisk installation of Feisty (fully uppdated
with aptitude as of today).

[Bug 104114] Screen freezes at random times for about 10 - 20 sec before it continues

2007-04-07 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: beryl

As the summary; Screen freezes at random times for about 10 - 20 sec before it
continues. Sometimes it doesn't come back alive. The only way out of that is a

Mouse is always alive during the freeze, independent of if it is a temporary
freeze or a hard freeze.

The randomness occur mostly at start of an eye-candy-effect
(typically minimize, close and start of a window).

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-07 Thread Anders Häggström
The actual output from scsi_id is as follows:
# /lib/udev/scsi_id -g -x -s /block/sda
ID_VENDOR=ATA
ID_MODEL=ST3320620AS
ID_REVISION=3.AA
ID_SERIAL=1ATA_ST3320620AS_9RV
ID_TYPE=disk
ID_BUS=scsi

And in my opinion it should be:
# /lib/udev/scsi_id -g -x -s /block/sda
ID_VENDOR=ATA
ID_MODEL=ST3320620AS
ID_REVISION=3.AA
ID_SERIAL=9RV01S5H
ID_TYPE=disk
ID_BUS=scsi

When that is corrected the udev rule
(/etc/udev/rules.d/65-persistent-storage.rules) should be something similar to
this:
KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|dasd*[!0-9], ENV{ID_SERIAL}==?*,
SYMLINK+=disk/by-id/$env{ID_BUS}-$env{ID_MODEL}_$env{ID_SERIAL}
KERNEL==sd*[0-9]|dasd*[0-9], ENV{ID_SERIAL}==?*,
SYMLINK+=disk/by-id/$env{ID_BUS}-$env{ID_MODEL}_$env{ID_SERIAL}-part%n

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-07 Thread Anders Häggström
Here is a bash-script I wrote as a temporary workaround for the broken scsi_id.
It works for me together with the modified udev-rule I posted earlier.

The script is using smartctl as backend to get the information instead
of sysfs or scsi_id.

I also found the ID_REVISION fail to detect the correct value, at
least if you compare to smartctl.

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-07 Thread Anders Häggström
I forgot some info...

The script needs to be run as root, because smartctl only work as the
rootuser.

The script has one, and only one argument. The argument is the path tho the
drive that is bypassed to smartctl.
Like this:
# ./smartctl_id.sh /dev/sda

And to use the modidified udev-rules together with smartctl_id you need to
edit the import-lines from scsi_id to smartctl_id.
The old lines:
KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==, IMPORT{program}=scsi_id -g -x
-s %p -d $tempnode
KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==, IMPORT{program}=scsi_id -g -x
-a -s %p -d $tempnode
Should be exchanged with this line:
KERNEL==sd*[!0-9]|sr*|st*, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==,
IMPORT{program}=smartctl_id.sh /dev/%k

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-07 Thread Anders Häggström
I just found that my usb devices (sde sdf) became double named with my
code change. I tailed it down to usb_id that also have a messed up
output. The difference between scsi_id and usb_id is that usb_id does
not cut the output at a fixed length, so it's not a large trouble, it
just produce very long symlinks with the ID_MODEL twice.

[Bug 102332] ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-03 Thread Anders Häggström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

At the moment I'm running from Ubuntu Edgy LiveCD, but I have done an
installation and upgraded the whole system, but it didn't fix the bug.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G
Attached disks: hda, sda, sdb, sdc, sdd, sde, sdf
sda to sdd is the same type of disk, and its the disks that does not show
up correctly by udev. The other disks are attached just to show that udev is
working for them.

The bug seems to ocur because udev does not print the correct ID of the
sata-disks (sda - sdd). It only print the type and then the first three
letters of the ID, which is the same for my disks according to smartctl.
I have doubblechecked the correct type and ID fysically on the disks and
smartctl find the correct ones.

[Bug 102332] Re: ls -l /dev/disk/by-id does not show all disks

2007-04-03 Thread Anders Häggström
I see no hardware-ID anywhere in the output. The only thing it confirms is that
I'm using encryption on the disks (sda - sdd). And yes, I do use encryption
and I do it without a partitiontable.
The four disks are part of an encrypted raid5-array (/dev/md0) which is not
attached/mounted at the moment.
I did not think the missing partitiontable or the encryption messed up udev's
ability to locate/find the hardware-id of the disks. Am I wrong about that?

Btw, why isn't encrypted disks shown in /dev/disk/by-uuid? It looks like
they have a proper UUID.
