[Bug 1951826] Re: Installing site as Progressive Web App does not create launcher icon
Hi there, this issue has come up for me on all packaged versions of epiphany - except no record of app in application manager either. Gnome has closed the issue as it isn't them. Please see thread: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/issues/2357 Gnome believe this to be an Ubuntu issue. [Bug 1872541] Re: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL
I have the same issue, and for me it *does* work if I use `--ssl- mode=DISABLED` to connect. This is using the mysql-client installed through apt in Ubuntu 20.04 beta (mysql-client 8.0.19-0ubuntu4), and connecting to a MySQL Server version 5.7.21 running in docker on the same machine. I get the same problem when trying to connect using the mysqlclient- python library in a django application I'm working on. The mariadb-client version of the `mysql` binary can connect to the same database without using `--ssl-mode=DISABLED`. If I replace mysql-client and libmysqlclient-dev with mariadb-client and libmariadbclient-dev and then reinstall the python mysql library, that works as it is supposed to. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872541 Title: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1872541/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1814003] [NEW] kernel BUG at fs/ext4/inode.c:2679!
Public bug reported: I started seeing this bug in Ubuntu 18.04 running VMWare Workstation Pro 14. After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 and VMware Workstation 15 the bug still appears. I started to ask questions on the VMware Community, https://communities.vmware.com/thread/604705. Because I had some additional time to troubleshoot I am also noticing that this bug is being reported on other Linux Distributions notably: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1662314 Conditions to reproduce. [Bug 1686081] Re: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work
Hi, I just upgraded from 17.04 to 17.10. I m running my ubuntu in Xorg mode. After the upgrade (Dell Laptop with an Alps touchpad) there are no touchpad settings available at all (see attached screenshot). The touchpad would work though, but I could not disable it at all. Pressing the Function-key+F3 would show the on-screen symbol of the disabled touchpad, but it wouldn't disable the touchpad. At the moment I am using a bash script that is utilizing "xinput --disable $device" to enable/disable the touchpad. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of mouse/touchpad settings page" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/artful/+source/xorg/+bug/1686081/+attachment/5045199/+files/Screenshot_no_touchpad_settings.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1686081 Title: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1686081/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1707352] Re: the change from libsane to libsane1 broke many (all?) 3rd party plug-ins for sane
Epson Perfection V30 didn't work, and I've gotten it working now. Had these problems on 17.10, almost b0rked my system with some of the proposed solutions re downgrading. Here's what worked today (Dec 13, 2017) on a fresh install: *Before* installing iscan-data, iscan, and esci-interpreter-gt-f720 from the Epson package, I made a symlink from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane to /usr/lib/sane so things would get to the right place automatically. (This might be a further useful fix to add to the libsane package.) Then I installed the software from the Epson package. Then I followed the instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane#Setting_up_SANE";>the community site. I tried XSane, and it wouldn't detect my scanner. I added an 'epkowa' line to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf, and after that, I could run 'sane-find-scanner' as root successfully, and running 'scanimage -L' as root activated the scanner. I was able to run gscan2pdf (my preferred app) as root successfully, and used it to scan a document. Of course, I don't want to run this software as root every time. So then I created the 79-udev-epson.rules file per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane- backends/+bug/1707352/comments/86">comment 86, rebooted, and everything works now as a regular user. I do find it difficult to choose the right place to file a bug if not one of the apps is concerned. Thanks for your time and help. [Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store
Hi Alberto, I did delete my UbunuOne account and tried to install two random apps. The good news is - yep - they are installed! :-) The bad news is, they do not show up on the home sceen. :-( Please see the attached screenshots. In the store the apps are marked as installed, but, being sorted in alphabetical order, they are not shown on the home screen. For the reason why my account was disabled I now do have an explanation. On the account settings I had disabled the access to the account for "com.canonical.payui_payui". I did this to avoid accidently installing apps that do cost money. With the newly created account, after deleting the other one, it was enabled. Installing apps worked. With access of payui disabled you can not install apps any more. Sorry about that. No bug, just me... :-( ** Attachment added: "screenshots" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts/+bug/1649419/+attachment/4794408/+files/bugreport%201649419_2.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1649419 Title: unable to install apps from ubuntu store To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts/+bug/1649419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store
Hi Alberto, it took some playing around, because I have never before used the phablet-shell. But I did get something out of it in the end. ;-) I had to copy/paste the content of the terminal, because I could not find the oa.log file. Well, I did just unplug the phone to stop logging not knowing any better. Hopefully there is still something useful in there for you! I did not get past the point where I had to press "install" in the store. When I hit that button nothing happend on the phone but text appeared in the terminal (as attached). When pressing "install" again, it would only give me that error message wich you can see at the bottom three times. Do you think it might be worth trying to delete the UbuntuOne account? I do hope that does help at least a little bit. If you need anything else please let me know. Hi Alberto, thanks for taking time to look into this matter. 1) Done, see attached screenshots, I took them with my original language settings in german and changed to english and took them again Regardless of the app I am trying to install the box at the top is always empty. I did also try to press "deny" (could have been the buttons mixed up) without success. 2) Yes I do have an UbuntuOne account set up and registered within system settings I did that in order to get app updates after OTA 13. Recently I was taking some photos with my BQ E5. On the first couple of photos I did get the normal shutter sound. After I think maybe 3 or 4 photos there was no shutter sound any more. [Bug 1407921] Re: Indicator should give feedback when location-service is in use by apps
Hi Matthew, I am aware of that. But Location turned on/off and GPS turned on/off is not the same. At least that is what I was experiencing and what I tried to describe. Without me touching the location settings (turned off) GPS (visible under Battery) could be turned on (without me turning it on). Because that happened to me I am not sure if internally the same ist still going on but now with the GPS button gone I can not find out. I suppose it would do the job to make sure, that if location is turned off GPS definitly is turned of as well. By the way there is no option for location services only based network triagulation but without GPS, right? I wonder if that would be usefull to get you a rough position for Here Maps but you would not have to turn on GPS wich would for instance reduce battery life. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1407921 Title: Indicator should give feedback when location-service is in use by apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1407921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1407921] Re: Indicator should give feedback when location-service is in use by apps
With OTA 10.1 on my BQ E5 GPS did turn itself on every now and so on - without me turning locationservices on, that was still off. I could not find a pattern to it at the time. That was of course reducing battery lifetime. On OTA 10.1 the GPS on/off button was still available under the battery settings, that's how I found out about it. With OTA 11 this button has disappeared, so I do sometimes wonder if internally GPS is still turned on occasionally (and apps could be able to use location-services?) but now I do not have any way to find out. So, yes with the indicator showing GPS usage that would solve that problem as well.

[Bug 1281171] [NEW] Chromium browser locks up running Ubuntu14.04
Public bug reported: Chromium browser locks up with multiple tabs open when running Ubuntu 14.04.it does NOT cause a system crash as has been reported elsewhere, and apport does not start or file a bug report AFAIK. The only "fix" was to close the browser & re-open; this worked for a while, but then locked up again. This problem was NOT seen running Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS or Mint 16. This was happening frequently with Shockwave Flash v 11.2 r202 that is the default install. I opened a new thread on the Ubuntu forums to get some helphttp://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2205971. Another user reported a similar problem using the Chrome browser, but stated it would clear up after a couple of minutes. One of the forum mods suggested it might be related to the shockwave version that is reaching end of life support from Adobe, and told me about the new version for Chromium titled "Pepper Flash". After a web search I found an article about Pepper Flash being added to the 14.04 repositories. I then did the following: sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install This installed shockwave flash v 12.0.0.44 This seems to have fixed the problem as I am now able to open multiple tabs without any lock ups; after running for over 8+ hours it still is working correctly. my system info: tommy3@tommy3-Inspiron-531s:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release:14.04 with kernel 3.13.0-8 generic Chromium version used in this browser: 32.0.1700.107 If more info is needed, let me know. Re: [Bug 1085548] Re: 10de:03d0 [Dell Inspiron 531s] Cannot boot since kernel 3.2.0.34
Hello, I no longer have this problem since kernel 3.2.0-36 kernel releasecan't you just close the bug report ?? I am using kernel 3.2.0-58 currently with no problems. I have been using Ubuntu 14.04 with the latest kernel since it came out, so I don't see it as an issue any more. I also have no problems using Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS or Linux Mint 16 with the latest kernels. I have great reservations about flashing the BIOSif it left me with an unworkable mobo, I would be royally screwed !! In other words, if it ain't broke-don't fix it. [Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error " NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined"
The cloud archive does not yet have the fix. It's not terribly hard to patch the packages locally, though. Summary: apt-get install build-essential apt-get source horizon apt-get build-dep horizon cd horizon-* # apply the changes to debian/rules and debian/changelog at # http://launchpadlibrarian.net/148082203/horizon_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu2_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu3.diff.gz # (although probably you will want a different version number, so # the next ubuntu cloud archive version superceeds yours) dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc cd .. install the resulting .debs with "dpkg -i", or put them in a ppa, or some other repo, etc. I've confirmed that these changes fix at least the problem described here. I'm then having a different problem: when I log in, I get redirected back to the login page, with no error in the browser or apache's error.log that I can find. However, that is probably more likely something I did wrong upgrading from grizzly to havanah, or a separate issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210253 Title: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error " NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1210253/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1185261] [NEW] MaaS nodes being enlisted with multiple network cards fail to commission
Public bug reported: Allowing MaaS to do it's own DHCP/DNS but isolating it onto its own network segment and having nodes with two network interfaces (one interface connected to the network segment the Maas controllers are on and the second interface connected to another (different) network segment that has external internet access) results in failure to commission nodes properly. The nodes correctly start up, contact the server, boot and sit...eventually printing various apt-get error messages about being unable to connect to external sites before ultimately powering off and changing the state on the Nodes page from commissioning to ready. It seems that only one interface is being brought up (the one that contacted the MaaS controller) and the other one is ignored. [Bug 1018671] [NEW] mismatch between ocfs2-tools version and kernel
Public bug reported: In at least 11.10 (likely 12.04 as well, however...), the ocfs2-tools is behind what the 3.0 kernel is creating on disk. This can be seen trivially by attempting to examine the locks on an ocfs2 filesystem: ===# debugfs.ocfs2 -n -R "fs_locks" /dev/dm-1 Debug string proto 3 found, but 2 is the highest I understand. The 1.8 tree in the ocfs2-tools git repo includes support for proto 3. That set of tools should probably be distributed with 11.10 and up, so that the tools match what the kernel is providing. Not having the tools match up to the kernel makes things very difficult, like trying to debug locking issues. ** Affects: ocfs2-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018671 Title: mismatch between ocfs2-tools version and kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ocfs2-tools/+bug/1018671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 578848] Re: Not starting gw6c - no server key
Hi, I know this is a very old bug report, but it's still valid - the same error happened to me today. As said in the original report, running gw6c once will download the key, but the reason why it won't work for everyone is because keys are rejected if you're redirected to a hostname other than the one in your gw6c.conf file - the solution to this is to put the final server you are connecting to as the server in your gw6c.conf, so for mine, as I connect to sydney.freenet6.net, I had to set my server to that. Once this is done, the workaround in #2 is not necessary. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578848 Title: Not starting gw6c - no server key To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gw6c/+bug/578848/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 960867] Re: package python-uno 1:3.5.0-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
I ran apt-get dist-upgrade in a terminal, because update manager warned that a partial upgrade needed to be run. [Bug 950791] Re: : 'Transaction' object has no attribute 'pktrans'
I applied updates as detected this morning NZ time using update-manager, then refreshed the lists and applied a second set of updates. aptdaemon crashed during post-processing after instalation of the second set of updates. /var/cache/apt/archives has two sets of files for aptdaemon: tim@zaphod:~$ ls -l /var/cache/apt/archives/aptdaemon* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15146 Mar 9 22:03 /var/cache/apt/archives/aptdaemon_0.43+bzr778-0ubuntu1_all.deb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15130 Mar 15 02:04 /var/cache/apt/archives/aptdaemon_0.43+bzr784-0ubuntu1_all.deb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 162996 Mar 9 22:03 /var/cache/apt/archives/aptdaemon-data_0.43+bzr778-0ubuntu1_all.deb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 163060 Mar 15 02:04 /var/cache/apt/archives/aptdaemon-data_0.43+bzr784-0ubuntu1_all.deb tim@zaphod:~$ Note that timestamps are NZDT, 13 hours ahead of UTC. After applying the second set of updates, update manager reported that a restart was required, and the restart icon has apeared in the gnome panel. aptdaemon crashed at about the time when update-manager was generating the reboot alert at the end of installation of the second set of updates, but no crash occurred when I needed to reboot last (at least 2 days ago).
