[Bug 1430230] Re: Log flooding with warning message when using linux-lowlatency kernel

[Bug 1430230] Re: Log flooding with warning message when using linux-lowlatency kernel
Yes, it isn’t ideal and sort of defeats the ‘low latency’ object, but it’s better than having your SSD thwacked (one of these writes to the log per second also adds up in terms of CPU activity). As the patch is just a one-liner, which allows execution in both soft and hard interrupt contexts instead of hard only, and has been tested and pushed upstream (http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.dri.devel/122993) I’d hope the kernel devs will be able to merge this in in time for Vivid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1430230 Title: Log flooding with warning message when using linux-lowlatency kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1430230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I got rid of this problem by disabling un-needed options in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf. Not good news: Sarah Sharp's patch to the USB core (mentioned above) hasn't helped. [Bug 1072234] Re: 050d:0017 Bluetooth mouse randomly disconnects
The steps in the previous comment didn't work either. It seems that autosuspend still occurs for individual devices even when usbcore is told not to do it. I don't know enough about the internals of the Linux kernel to know if this is intended behaviour. I've tried manually adding every USB device to /etc/sysfs.conf, and I'll see if that improves matters, but suffice it to say that my hopes aren't high. The only (possibly) helpful thing I've noticed is that whenever I restart sysfsutils when the mouse has stopped responding, it comes back to life. I don't know what this could mean. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072234 Title: 050d:0017 Bluetooth mouse randomly disconnects To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1072234/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1072234] Re: 050d:0017 Bluetooth mouse randomly disconnects
I'm still investigating this bug. The situation at present is: * Bug still present in Saucy's stock 3.11.0-13 kernel. * Appears to be related to USB powersaving. * Installing sysfsutils and adding the line bus/usb/devices/*/power/autosuspend -1 to /etc/sysfs.conf *appears* to be a workaround. This is a really cheap and dirty hack as it disables autosuspend for every USB device, but you could be more surgical and work out the right directory for your problem Bluetooth device. * A kernel dev at Intel claims that a too-small timeout in the kernel's USB core might be related: http://marc.info/?l=linux-usbm=137714769606183w=2. Currently compiling a git clone'd kernel with her patch. And a correction: sysfsutils doesn't actually support globbing; I pieced together this suggestion from several solutions, no wonder it didn't work... The correct version of this workaround is to do something such as this: james@rainbowphoenix:~$ ls -1 /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1.1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1.2/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1.7.1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1.7.2/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1.7.3/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1.7/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/4-1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb3/power/autosuspend /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb4/power/autosuspend You can then add them to /etc/sysfs.conf. [Bug 1130857] [NEW] Some images have a blue tint
Public bug reported: Firefox 19.0 on Xubuntu 12.10 on a Late 2005 Apple Mac mini. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Firefox. 2. Navigate to an image-heavy website (Flickr, for instance). Note that some images have a blue tint. 3. If you already have enough of a browsing history, open a new tab and observe that the screenshots of your most visited pages also look too blue. Downgrading back to version 18.2 makes the problem go away, although using an outdated browser is not much of a workaround. I can test if required. [Bug 917557] Re: Ubuntu Server edition does not recognize serial console during installation
It may be worth mentioning that Debian's own debian-installer (at least when I last used it) does detect when installation is being conducted over serial and adds a line to inittab enabling serial logins. This should perhaps be adapted to add a ttyS0.conf for Upstart. During a serial Ubuntu install, the relevant configuration *is* added to the generated grub.cfg (i.e. the GRUB menu will appear on the serial line) but console=ttyS0,9600n8 (or whatever) is not appended to the kernel line so boot messages will likewise be sent over serial. And, crucially, since Upstart has not been instructed to start a getty, serial logins are not possible. A workaround until this is fixed is to install over serial, then upon reboot temporarily edit GRUB's kernel line with console=ttyS{port},{baud} and single for single user mode. Then add the relevant .conf for Upstart, change /etc/default/grub to append the correct console parameters to the kernel line by default, run update- grub, and reboot. You should then be able to see all your boot messages and log in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917557 Title: Ubuntu Server edition does not recognize serial console during installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/917557/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1072234] Re: Bluetooth mouse randomly disconnects
Reverting to Precise's bluez did not eliminate the problem. However, when I booted into my last Precise kernel (3.2.0-32-generic) my Bluetooth became as reliable as it was before. This is even with the latest bluez (4.101-0ubuntu6). [Bug 1072234] Re: Bluetooth mouse randomly disconnects
Some updates: When I lose the ability to move the mouse, the light on the Bluetooth adapter continues to flash if the mouse is moved, suggesting that Bluetooth commands are still being received. I am able to reconnect the mouse by disconnecting the Bluetooth adapter, reinserting it and reconnecting. However, I have found that I have to switch to a TTY and back to Unity to be able to move the mouse. Due to this (and the fact that the mouse was rock solid under Precise) I am certain that the problem lies with Ubuntu and not with my hardware. [Bug 919338] Re: vt100-w no longer displays in 132 columns on DEC VT420 terminal
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise ** Description changed: I have a DEC VT420 terminal connected to my Ubuntu system, set up for 'wide' (132 column) mode. Until recently, possibly although not definitely when I began testing Precise, running getty with the vt100-w profile ensured that when I logged in, applications such as top, nano or weechat would use all 132 columns. Now, though, everything is squashed into 80 columns even with all the same settings (on the VT420 and Ubuntu machine). When I log in on the terminal and type $ echo $TERM I get the expected 'vt100-w'. However: $ tput cols results in '80' and sure enough, only the first 80 columns of the screen are filled. I strongly doubt this is a problem with the terminal as all its settings were 'known good' and I have checked and double-checked them for correctness. Admittedly, I can work around this by issuing $ stty 132 - and then everything works as expected. However, I am curious as to why - none of the 'wide' terminfos are working any more and believe there may - be a bug here somewhere. + and then everything works as expected. [Bug 964479] [NEW] Bottom pinned icon on Launcher is pushed around by unpinned app icons
Public bug reported: On current Precise beta, the bottom app icon pinned to the Launcher is not 'sticky' as it should be. When I first log in and launch an app that isn't pinned to the Launcher, that app's icon will appear between the bottom pinned icon and second-from-bottom one, instead of between the bottom icon and the workspace switcher as it should. [Bug 950044] [NEW] System menu icon jagged
Public bug reported: On current Precise, the system menu icon is jagged and ugly. The other indicator icons seem unaffected. I am using an ATI Radeon X600 video card. This is on a fresh install of Precise beta. During the install, the icon looked as it should, but when launching the installed system (or a live system from the CD) it looks wrong. I don't know if this is a Unity, Compiz or X problem. [Bug 922522] Re: Volume is always set to full on reboot
I installed Onieric (as opposed to in-development Precise) on my mother's new laptop today, and realised what the problem really was; the volume control on the Unity login screen is not synchronised with the sound indicator on the desktop. On bootup, the login screen's volume control is always at full, which Pulseaudio is obviously responding to. The state is not updated until I adjust the indicator's volume control - hence the problem. I think. Changed bug to reflect this discovery. ** Package changed: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) = unity-greeter -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/922522 Title: Volume is always set to full on reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-greeter/+bug/922522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 922522] Re: Volume is always set to full on reboot
Unfortunately, I was wrong - the problem isn't fixed. The volume control is set at a different position by default now, but in spite of this the volume is still at full until I move the control (mouse wheel or dragging the slider after clicking on the indicator). It seems that the position of the volume control is being saved, but Pulseaudio is not respecting its position on startup. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/922522 Title: Volume is always set to full on reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/922522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 922522] [NEW] Volume is always set to full on reboot
Public bug reported: On current Precise, system volume level is not persistent across reboots. It is remembered if I log in and out, but is always being set to maximum after a reboot. This has not been a problem until fairly recently. I am not sure if this is a problem with Pulseaudio itself or the volume control. [Bug 919338] [NEW] vt100-w no longer displays in 132 columns on DEC VT420 terminal
Public bug reported: I have a DEC VT420 terminal connected to my Ubuntu system, set up for 'wide' (132 column) mode. Admittedly, I can work around this by issuing $ stty 132 and then everything works as expected. However, I am curious as to why none of the 'wide' terminfos are working any more and believe there may be a bug here somewhere. ** Affects: ncurses (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919338 Title: vt100-w no longer displays in 132 columns on DEC VT420 terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ncurses/+bug/919338/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
