[Bug 1872281] Re: collectd python plugin not working

Just to clarify:
I'm not the only one experiencing this on another architecture than the armhf,
right?

[Bug 1640514] Re: /snap/bin is not added to the PATH when using zsh

2020-01-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
It is strange. My XDG_DATA_DIRS has the value:

/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop

, and I have never had issues with that.
Only the part added to PATH has bothered me.
Actually I have no idea where is gets this value from.

[Bug 1640514] Re: /snap/bin is not added to the PATH when using zsh

2020-01-24 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
The problem was not fixed with the above, as I discovered that of course
it only fixes my terminal. Other applications (e.g. PyCharm) could not
see the executables from snaps.

Creating ~/.pam_environment with the following content did the trick:

PATH DEFAULT=${PATH}:/snap/bin

2020-01-23 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I jumped the gun a bit. What I ment was to write that sourcing
/etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh fixes commands being available again. I
have the following in my .zshrc:

if [ "$XDG_SESSION_TYPE" = "wayland" ] ; then

...other wayland fixes...

# Fix environment for Wayland + zsh + snapd
if [ -f "/etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh" ] ; then
source /etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh

[Bug 1813663] Re: External monitors does not work anymore 4.15.0-44

2019-02-01 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I just got the 4.15.0-45 kernel through normal updates.

Am I the only one who sees it as problematic that when updating to
4.15.0-45, it marks both 4.15.0-43 and 4.15.0-44 for auto removal?

Of course 44 should go, because it's problematic, but what if someone
ends up without a prior kernel to boot in case of trouble with 45?

[Bug 1813917] [NEW] Unable to use docking station on linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic

2019-01-30 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo T580 for work.
It has a Intel® Core™ i7-8550U CPU, and runs integrated graphics.

When booting linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic kernel, and the machine is docked in
the docking station, I can get as far as login. But after entering my password
something goes wrong, and screen output is lost completely.
Also, logging on it through SSH and shutting it down, you can wait for ages, I
have yet to see it actually turn off.

Booting linux-image-4.15.0-43-generic there are no issues.

I have a colleague who has a similar machine, but with nVidia graphics
card and Pop!_OS booting in legacy mode. He does not have this issue
with linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic.

Just experienced this after disabling the screen powerdown in power

what I think since my 7z compressions I started before turning off the

[Bug 1722353] Re: Screen blanking and/or screen lock crashes gnome-shell user session on wayland - Ubuntu 17.10 beta

2017-10-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I had the same issue in an Intel integrated graphics card (Core
i3-2120T). My whole session would just die.

My system is in Danish, so I am unsure if it is the power saving option
mentioned by @emanuel-pirsch I have disabled, but I went to the power
settings and disabled the second option that translated says something
like "Dim monitor on inactivity". This makes no sense enabling on my
computer since it is a desktop system with an external monitor.

The result is that it seems to have helped.

It makes me wonder if there is some sort of hardware detection that has
a bug?

[Bug 1720376] [NEW] Grub could not install in automated install

2017-09-29 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Public bug reported:

I have just tried to install Ubuntu 17.10 Daily image (downloaded
yesterday evening CET). At the end of install I get a fatal error that
Grub could not install to /dev/dm-0 (I think). Then I tried /dev/sda1
and /dev/sda with same result. The original device was not in the list
to choose.

[Bug 1607535] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.4+nmu1ubuntu2 fails to install core fonts and should be updated to version 3.6 from Debian

2017-01-06 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I just installed the .deb file from debian
(https://packages.debian.org/jessie/all/ttf-mscorefonts-
installer/download) and it worked without any issues. I used gdebi on
the terminal, but I don't see why it shouldn't work with the software
center installer.

Since the package from Debian works, why is it not just pushed to the
repositories as is?

[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2016-09-26 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
4.4.0-38 seems to have done most of it for me. Could it have been resolved in
another package?
I only have FIFO underrun on pipe B when I check my dmesg (running for 4 days).
However, my computer is a macbook pro that needs to go around Apple soon for
other hardware issues, so i'm not sure to trust it.

[Bug 1046074] [NEW] HDMI output is not available in sound configuration

2012-09-04 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Public bug reported:

Whether or not I have a HDMI cable in my computer (connected to my TV),
I always exactly three playback devices Digital Output (S/PDIF), Analog
and Headphones. I can activate HDMI sound through pavucontrol, and make
it works this way, however, it should really appear (or just be there
always) in sound configuration.

In my research on this, I have come across advice to reboot my machine with
the HDMI cable in, but that didn't make the output appear in the list.
Furthermore, this blog post says it's probably the video drivers:

Today when I opened my mail, I had a bunch of mails about my purchases.
All the purchases had furthermore appeared in the section of the

of the English title, as my system is Danish). This means that I can
install all the things, but I still find it annoying that it didn't just
work. I'd say importance of this one is low or medium, unless a lot of
users are affected.

[Bug 980766] Re: Remmina fullscreen jumps between workspaces

I have noticed that the behaviour may vary a bit depending upon the way the
monitors are setup relative to each other, screen sizes, the height of the moon
in the horizon, whether I swung a dead chicken over my head last night/this
morning, etc.
The short of the long is that I am not experiencing my above described
behaviour now, but it comes and goes depending on my setup.

[Bug 980766] Re: Remmina fullscreen jumps between workspaces

2012-05-03 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I had this issue on Oneiric as well, but could live with it, as I could just go
out of full screen, move the window, and go ful screen again to fix the problem.
Howeever in Precise, there might be a related problem, in that when I go out of
full screen now, and make it go into full screen again, it kinda goes into full
screen, but in a window. In a way, it seems like it's trying to go into
fullscreen accross both monitors, but fails, and is banished into a windows.
Generally this happens if the connection is not initiated with full screen.
Clicking the full screen button in the window produce this behaviour.

Do you guys have similiar behaviour?

[Bug 872310] Re: gEdit crashes when press Ctrl + Space

It's related to the snippet plugin. If I disable that plugin, it doesn't crash

Upgrading to the version 3.2.1 in proposed updates breaks the use of this
plugin completely (It won't load).

[Bug 810408] Re: Usability bug: Inconsistent wall sliding animation

2011-09-19 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
This sounds a bit like a standard answer to me. What exactly is it that
you want to reproduce?

To clarify:This is a usability bug, about the look and feel of changing
desktop in the default desktop of Natty. My point is that nothing but
the elements that are actually changing when switching desktop, should
be a part of the sliding animation that occurs when changing desktop.
Hence, only windows locked to a viewport should move, not toolbars,
shadows, desktop image, sticky windows, etc.

Does this clarify it better?

[Bug 810408] Re: Usability bug: Inconsistent wall sliding animation

2011-09-19 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Well, I basically suggest that the default setting of Non Sliding Windows in
the Desktop Wall plugin of Compiz is set to (type=Desktop | Notification |
Tooltip ) | state=sticky.
This disables sliding of everything I suggested, except legacy applet icons,
which are the only ones I havn't figured out yet.

Try the setting out, and see for your self.
Just open the CompizConfig Settings Manager, open the Desktop Wall plugin, go
to the Viewport Switching tab, and set Non Sliding Windows to (type=Desktop |
Notification | Tooltip ) | state=sticky. Now change desktop, and notice how it
looks compared to before.
