[Bug 1021183] Re: after some time when evolution runs in a wild loop of fetching messages and removing messages from cache
I upgraded to 12.10 and now I use the EWS service to connect. This problem did not occur anymore with the EWS connector. [Bug 1069757] [NEW] Libreoffice: problems with saving docs to directories of Windows networks (through samba-connection)
Public bug reported: At the office I use my Ubuntu computer as a work station and connect it to our Windows network by establishing Samba (smb) connections. In this way I can not only use the print facilities but also use directly the network directories for opening, saving of documents. Since ubuntu 12.04 directories of windows networks have been integrated in the procedure for opening, saving of documents in Libreoffice. Directories available through open samba-connections thus are integrated in the list of directories on which docs can be saved. This was a great new features, since before 12.04 one had to save files on a local directory first and then move or copy them to the windows directory in Nautilus. After having done the upgrade to ubuntu 12.10 QQ this facility does not work as it should. The network directories are still shown and it it still possible to open a document. But is it not possible to save it and giving it another name. Another thing which had become impossible is to open a document from another source than the network directory (e.g. local directory, attached doc to a mail) and save it in a directory of the network server. When doing this the system gives the information 'Error saving the document #name#. The file does not exist' (see screenshot 1, text in italian). If one then presses the OK-button there is a second error communication with the following text: Error is saving the document #name#: General Error Generel I/O error (see screenshot 2, text in italian) I have checked whether the same kind of error also occurs in other programs, at least in Evince (pdf-reader). This is not the case. A last issue I want to report is that when one opens a doc (e.g. odt) from a network directory, modifies it and then save it, this seems to work. There is no error messsage. When checking by re-opening the saved document, in a few experiments I did the modifications were not saved. In nautilus the date indication of the file also remained the same. In other experiments however the saving of the documents with the modifications seemed to work as it should. conclusion: the integration of network directories in LO has become unreliable, with a high risk of loss of information for the user. [Bug 1069008] [NEW] main menu on top bar doesn't appear
Public bug reported: When opening a file with LibreOffice, e.g. text file, in Ubuntu 12.10, quite often the main menu on the top bar doesn't appear at the right sight of the symbols for closing, minimizing and maximizing the active window. Thus it is impossible to manage the file, for instance to save it with another name, to insert, format etc... Sometimes the menu appears after a period of time, sometimes it seems to never appear. The only thing one can do is to close and re-open until the menu finally appears. This problem occurred only after having upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10, not before. The problem is shown in the screenshot I attach to this report. One has to look at the bar where pointer is situated. Normally a menu list has to appear with File, Modify etc... but there is nothing. Currently my system shows: [0.00] Found optimal setting for mtrr clean up I ran apport-collect 1062970, but it didn't really do anything besides starting a browser and telling me I was already logged in. Due to the massive list of open bugs in Apport, I also have stopped using Apport, since it didn't work in 80% of the cases or so for various reasons, none of them which are related to me the user. I.e., the success rate is too low for it to be useful. If you want your bugs reported with higher quality, concentrate on fixing apport first. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/apport for the already existing massive list of open bugs for Apport. For this particular problem there appears to be a correlation between the fglrx driver being loaded and this problem, but whether it's really fglrx's fault? [Bug 1046244]
(In reply to comment #27) Now that Qt 4.8.3 (the first upstream Qt version to include this patch) is in Arch Linux, the problem occurs there too. For me, it caused both plasma-desktop and kwin to segfault on startup, thus making KDE almost unusable. (As a temporary measure to prevent these from crashing, I reverted to Qt 4.8.2.) kdeinit4 and kwin crashes here to using 4.8.3 in opensuse since they got that in their kde49 repository. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1046244 Title: plasma-desktop crashes with SIGFAULT on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qt/+bug/1046244/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1045226] [NEW] Thunderbird URLs don't open in configured browser

Now, you are just twisting my words. I directed this at you and I know of people who work for Mozilla who would never write the idiotic response you have just given and who I even respect; you are just not one of them, because you have demonstrated your stupidity in just a few lines. Again, it's just you, the person responsible for Apport, and whoever hired you in the end. As such, this does not constitute your colleagues, which would suggest a lack of hierarchy and not being part of a different team. It might very well be true that they are as stupid as you, but it's not something I talked about. Also, you are the one who didn't take my report seriously and as such you didn't follow the code of conduct. I simply copied your behaviour. You should go into politics. Perhaps that might be some place where your incompetence is not noticed. Summary: there is a bug which has been observed by multiple people and you close it because you don't like the part where I ridicule you off the planet, because you give a response which only a bean counter could give? [Bug 1038972] [NEW] gnome-shell dead-locks when asking for ssh-passwd using sshfs.
Public bug reported: I can reliably get gnome-shell to dead-lock while using gmusicbrowser with all the music on an sshfs mounted filesystem. Steps to reproduce. Computer A is the desktop, B is the remote server that hosts the filesystem. 1. On A, mount the remote filesystem on B with sshfs with the option '-o reconnect'. This will trigger ssh-askpass later. 2. On A, start gmusicbrowser and set the library to the mounted sshfs filesystem. 3. Play a song and pause it. 4. Remove focus from gmusicbrowser, for instance but putting it on another workspace. 5. Reboot B. 6. Wait for B to come up. 7. On A, switch to the workspace with gmusicbrowser and the first click you do, click the settings gear to get the floating window. 8. Enjoy your dead-lock When gmusicbrowser gets focus it first opens a floating menu, but also it triggers a reconnect to the sshfs filesystem since it has a mp3 file open, and this starts ssh-askpass, which opens a dialog to get your password, but it cannot get complete focus because of the floating meny and now displays an alert cannot get complete focus, maybe someone is eavesdropping, which cannot be clicked because it can't get focused. Gnome-shell is completely deadlocked, mouse still moves, but nothing can get focus, hot corners does nothing, typing does nothing. Killing gmusicbrowser does nothing, killing gnome-shell restarts it into the same dead-locked state. The kernel complains that gmusicbrowser is hung for over 120s. Xkill can't grab the mouse is says. You can get out the dead-lock by using 'pkill ssh-askpass' for another vt, but that took me a long time to figure out. ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038972 Title: gnome-shell dead-locks when asking for ssh-passwd using sshfs. So a fix for sudo would be much appreceated. » So I tried using the not-always-well documented -w option (aka --su-mode; see 'man gksu') and it works, both on the last Debian (6.0.5) and Ubuntu (12.04)... AND sudo -u user command (gksu calls sudo by default, exactly same as gksudo) doesn't seem to match the philosophy of calling a program using sudo privileges of another user... By the way, with some programs (such as the small optional system-config-samba) that works only when calling directly the root user (gksu -w -u root system-config-samba)... ** Bug watch added: Non-GNU Savannah Bug Tracker #24318 http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?24318 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/949265 Title: GKSU says my password is wrong To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gksu/+bug/949265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1020043] [NEW] postgresql logfile location not specified in error message and/or error message not visible anywhere
Public bug reported: The following output can be observed under various configurations (for example: disk full, but there are other conditions ) /etc/init.d/postgresql start * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Please check the log output. ...fail! Now, take the case were the disk is full, this means that there isn't any log output, which means that the error message is extremely bad. To make things worse, IIRC, the Ubuntu scripts throw away stderr which means that even if postgresql returns a correct error message, that it is simply thrown away by default. ** Affects: postgresql-9.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020043 Title: postgresql logfile location not specified in error message and/or error message not visible anywhere To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-9.1/+bug/1020043/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 993213] Re: button stays grey on mouse click: paste in folder
I have found a way to reproduce it. Copy a random file or folder. When you go to a Local (i mean not a netwok mounted folder) and you get a normal paste in option. When you mount a folder with gvfs (I used a smb mount) and try tou use the paste in, it is grey but you can still use it. Can someonse else reproduce it like I did? The samba mount is password protected (if this matters) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993213 Title: button stays grey on mouse click: paste in folder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/993213/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 390989] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop
I think this problem is worse now. This morning I opened the lid to the laptop and I could see the entire desktop for over 1 minute but the system was not responsive but i could see the mouse and I could bring Unity sidebar to front. I do think I could change focus on witch windows should be in front (little unsure) Suddenly the locked screen window appeared and after I logged in again the system started to work as usual johan@ubuntu-devnull:/etc/network$ uname -a Linux ubuntu-devnull 3.2.0-24-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 25 08:43:22 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux johan@ubuntu-devnull:/etc/network$ cat /etc/issue.net Ubuntu 12.04 LTS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390989 Title: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/390989/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
