[Bug 1895896] [NEW] HP Officejet Pro 6830 can not be connected via USB
Public bug reported: After updating to Ubuntu 20.04. I was unable to print via my HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer via WLAN and via USB. I managed to get the printer running via WLAN by going to CUPS (In Browser: http://localhost:631), deleting the stalled printer jobs and deleting the printers via cups. Afterwards I added the printer connected via WLAN using the command-line tool hp-setup. This was successfull. However, when adding the same printer with hp-setup connected via USB, the connection failed with the error message "Unable to communicate with the device. Please check the device and try again.". The device is connected to my PC via WLAN and USB. There is no problem. I had expected that the usb printer driver for my hp Officejet Pro 6830 got installed and afterwards successfull printing is possible. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS Release:20.04 apt-cache policy hplip hplip: Installiert: 3.20.3+dfsg0-2 Installationskandidat: 3.20.3+dfsg0-2 Versionstabelle: *** 3.20.3+dfsg0-2 500 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status apt-cache policy cups cups: Installiert: 2.3.1-9ubuntu1.1 Installationskandidat: 2.3.1-9ubuntu1.1 Versionstabelle: *** 2.3.1-9ubuntu1.1 500 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.3.1-9ubuntu1 500 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: hplip 3.20.3+dfsg0-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-47.51-lowlatency 5.4.55 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-47-lowlatency x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.8 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CupsErrorLog: E [16/Sep/2020:22:07:23 +0200] [Job 18] File \'\' not found W [16/Sep/2020:23:04:33 +0200] CreateProfile failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:profile id \'Officejet_Pro_6830_TH5666228Z0611_-Gray..\' already exists W [16/Sep/2020:23:04:33 +0200] CreateProfile failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:profile id \'Officejet_Pro_6830_TH5666228Z0611_-DeviceN..\' already exists E [16/Sep/2020:23:06:31 +0200] [Job 19] Der Druckauftrag wurde nicht angenommen. [Bug 1810165] Re: Some black colors are shown in orange
But what is strange is that even the laptops start window or the screen shown when removing the boot hard disk from the laptop and starting the laptop without boot hard disk shows an orange background. Thus this might be a very strange hardware failure of the laptops graphics card. ** Attachment added: "Laptop screen photos made with camera without starting linux." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1810165/+attachment/5226141/+files/Pictures2.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810165 Title: Some black colors are shown in orange To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1810165/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1771216] [NEW] Disabling one of multiple wlan chipsets
Public bug reported: I have attached multiple WLANs to my computer. One is build-in (pci) and one is connected via usb. The Ubuntu Gnome GUI shows 2 WLANs and for both a different signal strength. When however I disable one of the WLANs via the "Turn Off" option, it is expected that only this WLAN is deactivated, however both WLANs get disabled at the same time. When enabling one of them afterwards, both get enabled again. There does not seem to be a way to disable one of them alone. lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [Bug 1313351] Re: Microsoft Corp. LifeCam HD-3000 inserted before startup free with Ubuntu 13. 10 freezes the login screen
I have a building PCI USB Extension card. When the usb camera is attached to this usb card, this issue seems to occur, it might not occur when I insert the usb card to the boards build-in usb sockets. It could be an USB timing issue. The login screen is violett and does not react on key-presses. Sometimes I got on a black screen a message that only low graphics is available. Sometimes I get the querry if I want to update to the next ubuntu version on a black screen (see attachment). ** Attachment added: Screenshots https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/guvcview/+bug/1313351/+attachment/4098513/+files/Screenshots.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313351 Title: Microsoft Corp. [Bug 1069194] [NEW] nouveau does not recognize my Samsung Syncmaster 226BW
Public bug reported: Nouveau does recognize only the screen resolutions 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 and this as laptop. [Bug 728303] [NEW] [CA0106 - CA0106] ALSA test tone not correctly played back
Public bug reported: Made a clean Ubuntu 10.10 install and changed to xfce desktop when I noticed no sound at all. [Bug 569149] Re: totem failure with filetype: mov, error: GstMPEGAudioParse: No valid frames found before end of stream
Seems to be a rather a problem of the firefox plug-in. [Bug 449073] Re: Microphone on HP Laptop 6735s does not work
the bug itself seems to be fixed, however it is not easy to activate: 1_On Pannel, left mouse click on the speaker 2- Select Sound preferences 3- Go to Tab Input 4- Deselect Mute 5- Amplify the volume e.g. to 50 % 6- Look at Input level: If mic is working, you should see here the movement 7- Select the input source Internal Audio Analog stereo From 7 the Input level should be moving. You might also test the audio recorder Sound recorder and playback the recorded Audio. If you still have problems, please file a separate bug. If 7. was the problem, I guess we have a usability bug. [Bug 556867] Re: the screen did not change temporarily to a text console (mainline kernel)
The error above only appears with mainline kernel. (See screenshoot Screenshot_mainline_x-server_error.png above, which shows the message Could notapply the stored configuration for monitors- Xserver does not support size requested.). This message is shown directly after desktop login. Additionally a screenshot of the application System-Preferences-Monitor is attached to this comment. Switching to console (ctrl-Alt-F1 and back Ctrl-Alt F7) works fine with mainline kernel and Ubuntu Standard kernel. Note: After switching to between console and desktop or vice versa, the second switch operation is not accepted unless the ctrl-alt keys are completely released. Looks like when switching between desktop and terminal the keyboard server of the xserver does not notice that the ctrl and alt key are already pressed. This might be the source of trouble, why switching back does not work for some people. ** Attachment added: Screenshot-Monitor Preferences_Mainline_error.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48565033/Screenshot-Monitor%20Preferences_Mainline_error.png -- the screen did not change temporarily to a text console (mainline kernel) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thus there seem some conceptual audio routing problems: Independently of the Ubuntu's Output Configuration in Sound Preferences setting: - When Bluetooth headset connected via Bluetooth, then Bluetooth Microphone is used. - When Bluetooth headset not connected via Bluetooth, then: - When no cable microphone is connected, then the laptops internal microphone is used. - When an external cable microphone is connected, then the external cable microphone is used. When Ubuntu's Output Configuration in Sound Preferences setting is: - Nokia HS-3W (my Bluetooth Headset), then the loudspeaker of the Bluetooth headset is used. - Internal Audio Analog Stereo then: - When no cable loudspeaker is connected, then laptops internal loudspeaker is used. - When an external cable loudspeaker is connected, then the external cable loudspeaker is used. To summarize: - (1) The usage of the microphone should not depend on whether a Bluetooth headset is connected via Bluetooth, but it should depend on Ubuntu's Input Configuration in Sound Preferences - (2) The usage of the loudspeaker should not depend on whether a Bluetooth headset is connected via Bluetooth, but it should depend on Ubuntu's Output Configuration in Sound Preferences For the typical Bluetooth it might be useful to have additional the following (optional) behavior: - (3a) In case of a Bluetooth headset connection event, the microphone is switched towards the Bluetooth headset. - (3b) In case of a Bluetooth headset connection event, the loudspeaker is swiched towards the Bluetooth headset. - (3c) In case of a Bluetooth headset disconnection event, the microphone is swichted back to the internal microphone or cable microphone if connected - (3d)In case of a Bluetooth headset disconnection event, the loudspeaker is switched towards the internal loudspeaker or cable loudspeaker if connected Please note that the concrete realization of (3a), (3b), (3c), (3d) is device specific. A Linux PC will likely have to behave differently from a Linux Smartphone. A Bluetooth Linux device which is capable of having 2 or more concurrent Bluetooth audio connections at the same time (from the same or different Bluetooth chipsets attached to the device) towards different devices will require an even more complicated, specific audio routing. A Bluetooth headset with Audio steaming for listening to high quality Stereo Music should not affect the microphone setting, while a Bluetooth Headset providing the Bluetooth Audio Streaming Profile and the Bluetooth Headset Profile or Bluetooth Headsfree Profile might require a different Audio routing. Without having a complete routing concept at hand, audio routing should be application layer controlled and event based (DBUS?). -- Does not pass sound tests with external headset with mic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Please note that I can listen on the headset an mp3-audio file played on the PC. Thus it seens to be rather a problem in the input or in the backloop. Note: Might be also a problem with the ubuntu test application, as after pressing the Test button, the progress indication appears for less than a second. Same behaviour as with Bluetooth headset. [Bug 449073] Re: Microphone on HP Laptop 6735s does not work
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch) Release: 9.10 Running Ubuntu selftest audio-tests (first test) Nighter the external microphone nor the external speaker are recognised. Interestingly, the sound effects work with internal speaker and when a headphone is plugged in, also with the headphone. When knocking on the laptop, or when a microphone is plugged in, when knocking on that microphone, the Input tab shows as expected a moving input level. Expected behaviour: - When knocking on the microphone a input level on the sound preferences appl - tab input shows the input level representing the knocking. - The micropohone sound would be played back on the speaker. Occured behaviour: - When knocking on the microphone a input level on the sound preferences appl - tab input shows the input level representing the knocking. - No sound was played back after the test button was pressed.
