[Bug 1960005] [NEW] Exceptions crash

2022-02-04 Thread Juraj
Public bug reported:

There is a serious bug in libunwind 1.2.1 on
Ubuntu 20.04 which causes a crash when
handling exceptions (C++ in my case).

I have observed libunwind incorrectly
restoring registers while executing DWARF
opcodes in .eh_frame. In my case, the restore
of the register r6 (rbp on x86-64) was
prematurely commited. In certain complex
scenarios with optimization enabled,
gcc emits DWARF instructions which express
the offsets for save addresses
of higher-numbered registers against rbp
(instead of against the canonical frame
address, as is usual).
If rbp is prematurely committed,
higher-numbered registers are
restored incorrectly, i.e. corrupted.

I have described the issue in great detail at
https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-help/2022-February/141189.html

The current version on Arch (1.6.x) seems
to have this bug fixed. I don’t known at
which point or which bug was it exactly,
but it would be a really good idea to
backport this fix.

In my case, my application had libunwind
linked in instead of using the builting gcc
unwinder due to a 3rd party dependency,
Google glog, used by the Google Ceres
solver. However, it is only an optional
dependency, and glog can be built without
libunwind (it is just the preferred unwinder
for printing stack dumps in glog).

I had to rebuild glog without libunwind
to stop my application from crashing
(the builtin gcc unwinder works fine).

Google has a strict policy against using
C++ exceptions so I’m not surprised that
they haven’t stumbled upon this.

[Bug 1813765] Re: Freeze on Lenovo laptop in dock station

2019-01-29 Thread Juraj Korcek
Experienced the same problem as the OP. Downgrading to 4.15.0-43 worked
for as well. The only difference is that my laptop is Dell E7450.

To be more specific, With dock and an external screen the system freezes
when I close the laptop lid. When booting with the laptop lid is closed,
the system does not even get to login screen. With laptop lid open
everything works. With laptop not in dock everything works.

[Bug 1700218] Re: Ambiance theme doesn't respect Gtk3's GtkTextView::monospace

2017-09-18 Thread Juraj
I disagree that a monospace context menu is expected - this is not the
case anywhere in the rest of the OS, it shouldn't matter that the text
editing font is monospaced. But sure, that can be moved to a separate
issue.

I mitigated this by clearing the property from children (such as the
pop-up menu):

/* Fix Gitg source view */
.monospace {
font-family: "Monospace";
}

.monospace * {
font-family: initial;
}

[Bug 1694303] Re: Font issues in Zesty

2017-09-05 Thread Juraj
Hi. Since you're already monospace issue reported in #1700218, I will
concentrate on the white commit description text.

It is broken using both Ambiance and Radiance, see screenshot. The title
of the commit text looks okay, but the description text is unreadable
(note that not all commits have a description).

[Bug 1694397] [NEW] CMake linking issue

2017-05-30 Thread Juraj
Public bug reported:

I am trying to build an application which uses PCL on
Ubuntu 17.04 and I am getting CMake linker errors. Here's a minimal
working example:

CMakeLists:

cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 3.3)
project(example)

add_executable(${PROJECT_NAME} main.cpp)

# PCL
find_package(PCL REQUIRED)
target_link_libraries(${PROJECT_NAME} PUBLIC ${PCL_LIBRARIES})

main.cpp is just int main() { return 0; }.

CMake reports this:

CMake Warning at CMakeLists.txt:4 (add_executable):
Cannot generate a safe runtime search path for target example because files
in some directories may conflict with libraries in implicit directories:

runtime library [libmpi.so] in /usr/lib may be hidden by files in:
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/openmpi/lib

Some of these libraries may not be found correctly.

Make fails with:

*** No rule to make target '/usr/lib/libmpi.so', needed by 'example'.

I've found a hack-ish remedy for the problem: remove "/usr/lib/libmpi.so" from
VTK_LIBRARIES in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/pcl/PCLConfig.cmake.

[Bug 1586539] Re: Major screen flickering in Chromium and Google Chrome

2017-03-31 Thread Juraj
I was reading Brandon's (maceach-b) bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1657875). Besides
the very entertaining flaming of Christopher (penalvch) by Brandon over
there, I've found out in that report that this has been fixed in the
newer Xorg stack, which can be installed on 16.04 by running the
following, as mentioned in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack:

 sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04
xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04

This also fixed the issue for me on Thinkpad W520.

[Bug 1636827] Re: wireless network list disappears

2016-11-05 Thread Juraj
Sorry I can't answer all the questions right now, as I'm in a bit of a
rush and can't try out all the old versions of Ubuntu right now. And the
bug doesn't manifest itself that often, so it's hard to pinpoint what
exactly triggers it. For now I can confirm that I have experienced the
bug on Thinkpad T520 too. As before, restarting the NetworkManager
service fixes the issue.

[Bug 1636827] Re: wireless network list disappears

2016-11-02 Thread Juraj
1) No, it definitely did not occur in 14.04. I believe it's a regression.
2) James Ferguson noted here
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1590985/comments/7) that
he gets the bug after resuming from suspend. I will update later with more
specifics, but I consistently get the bug when running Ubuntu for some time (an
hour, couple of hours?), perhaps doing a suspend. I get the same behaviour like
James that it's still connected, but network-manager doesn't display the active
connection nor other connections.
3) Also will update later.

[Bug 1594798] [NEW] Permission switch available after uninstalling the app

2016-06-21 Thread Juraj
Public bug reported:

Hi,
when i install a new app which requires some permissions, these permission are
listed under "System Settings -> Security & Privacy -> App permissions" For
example if I install "uNAV", then there will be a new switch in the section
"Location" to enable/disable access to my location for the app "uNAV". If I
uninstall the app, the switch still remains there. If I install the app again,
this "empty" switch will be again associated with the re-installed app. This
holds also for switches in other sections (for camera, etc.). Restarting the
device after uninstalling the app does not help. My device is BQ Aquaris E4.5
Ubuntu Edition with the latest updates (as of 21JUN2016).

2015-06-20 Thread Juraj Somorovsky
Until there is a fix, could anyone please recommend a workaround for
this?

Every time I suspend my t450s, I estimate there is a 50% probability
that I will have this white screen problem after I wake up. Restarting
my system every time gets annoying...

Thanks a lot!

https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723be - works for B5400. However, it is
necessary to manually declare few constants in the code:

#define IEEE80211_CHAN_NO_IR0
#define REGULATORY_CUSTOM_REG   0
#define REGULATORY_STRICT_REG   0
#define REGULATORY_DISABLE_BEACON_HINTS 0

Put them somewhere, e.g. into wifi.h.

[Bug 879659] [NEW] windows minimizing animation plays in background

2011-10-21 Thread Juraj Vajda
Public bug reported:

lets say when you minimize window on your desktop in ubuntu what
happends.. the window will minimize in the unity dock... but in Compiz
Manager u can add an animation to the minimizing effect ...for example
Magic Lamp, so your windows will minimize with nice Magic Lamp effect..
but when you open more windows on your desktop and you minimize a
window, you expect to see that Magic Lamp effect...but you DONT, because
the minimize effecet will play in behind all other windows and not in
foreground..so that minimizing effect should be played in foreground all
other windows for you to see the effect and not in background all other
windows.

PICTURE: the window Documents was in foreground when i clicked on
minimize.. but as you can see the minimizing is playing on the
background .. so if you have some maximized window it will play behind
them ..so you will actually not see that your window is minimizing...

i tried it on a different laptop (Virtual Machine) ..fresh install
Ubuntu 11.10 + newest updates (compiz also) and it does the same
thing...

2010-09-22 Thread Juraj Lukac
Hi,

are you guys crazy? This goes round and round the same way:

Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?
Me: Yes, there is still a bug.
Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?
Me: Yes, there is still a bug.
Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?

...

I just don't care about this bug anymore, if I need to load a bubtitle
file I use another player.

Good luck to you:)

Re: [Bug 577916] Re: lucid regression: does not resume from hibernation

2010-06-10 Thread Juraj
I'm running win/ubuntu dual boot system. After 10.04 was released I wiped
9.10 and performed clean install. No swap partition remained from the
previous installation of Ubuntu. Also resume, fstab and sudo blkid were
having the same UUID for swap partition.
As an next I re-formated swap partition. After that updated fstab and resume
files according the information I got from sudo blkid and ran sudo
update-initramfs -c -k all. Still the same behavior.

On Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 8:15 PM, Usama Akkad uahe...@gmail.com wrote:

 replacing the uuid in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
with the actual swap partition uuid fixed my problem

maybe that happened because I've had 9.10 with 10.04 and then I removed
9.10 and it seems that the swap was not enabled on Lucid and I enabled
it manually. I don't remember what happened exactly but I usually told
the second system to use the same swap of the first one.

[Bug 568565] Re: gdu-notification-daemon closed unexpectedly - Lucid RC Live CD

2010-05-20 Thread Juraj
I have the same issue. I really wanted to report it but as stated above,
it is not possible. Moreover, after this 'unreportable' error another
one comes (gdu-volume monitor closed unexpectadly). Also this one is not
reportable. After few seconds the whole system completely freezes with
distorted stripes all over the screen and all I can do is hard reboot.
So I do not have a chance to send any log or whatever needed!!!

Obviously there is a problem with VGA drivers or something like that. I
do not have any special PC and what is the most important, IT HAS BEEN
WORKING flawlessly since 8.10 till 9.10 including!! I do not
understand how can happen that once working graphic can be after one and
half year corrupted in so-called 'LTS' release.

I really would like to contribute, send any log, anything that would
help but I simply cant because as said my computer booted with Lucid
Live CD freezes few moments after startup, and after reported gdu errors
appeared. The bug report I submmitted has been ignored so far so I am
trying to repeat it here as it is the same problem.

[Bug 546322] Re: udev (version 147~-6.1) uses constantly ~40% CPU

2010-05-11 Thread Juraj
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 546429 ***

This nasty bug has been reported several time I believe, also internet
is full of the same reports at least half a year back. Just an example:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/482544 - see the
links in notes below (bug reports #379780 and #440411 )

It really seems to me like an endless loop, just report, report , report
the same issues through the months and then... over again without any
change. Would it be possible to fix it finally

[Bug 576604] Re: Downgrades compiz performance

2010-05-09 Thread Juraj Seffer
Hi Sebastien,

I've unlocked my version and updated to the latest available
(1:2.30.1-0ubuntu1). It seems to be working fine now. The packages that
are tied to libgnome-window-settings1 are:

capplets-data
gnome-control-center

Perhaps there was something wrong with them. Anyway, it appears to be
fixed.

Thanks

[Bug 508699] Re: [K8M800] Xorg freeze / Kernel 2.6.32-10-generic freeze

2010-03-10 Thread Juraj
Just did following exercise on my ancient IBM Thinkpad 570 machine (see
lshw/lspci -a attachments):
Used livecd from 10th Mar (uname -a attached)
In the boot menu removed quiet splash from the boot line

Assuming by default fbdev used got distorted log in screen (see picture
attached)
Used xforcevesa and during the boot got Console: switching to colour frame
buffer device 80x30 message. After logged in from commandline, retrieved
following (Xorg.0.log,xorg.conf) from the system after tried startx

[Bug 370959] Re: No keyboard response in Remote Desktop Viewer 2.26.1

2009-06-17 Thread Juraj Lukac
The same problem here. I can't see what I'm typing when connected to another
desktop via Remote Desktop Viewer 2.26.1. In order to see what I have typed I
have to close connection and connect again. I also cannot drag windows.
The keyboard works technicaly, because after reconnect I can see what I have
typed, so the problem seems to be with the refresh of the session.

I forgot - the client and server are both Ubuntu 9.04. In Ubuntu 8.10
everything worked fine.
