[Bug 1960005] [NEW] Exceptions crash
Public bug reported: There is a serious bug in libunwind 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 which causes a crash when handling exceptions (C++ in my case). I have observed libunwind incorrectly restoring registers while executing DWARF opcodes in .eh_frame. In my case, the restore of the register r6 (rbp on x86-64) was prematurely commited. In certain complex scenarios with optimization enabled, gcc emits DWARF instructions which express the offsets for save addresses of higher-numbered registers against rbp (instead of against the canonical frame address, as is usual). If rbp is prematurely committed, higher-numbered registers are restored incorrectly, i.e. corrupted. I have described the issue in great detail at https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-help/2022-February/141189.html The current version on Arch (1.6.x) seems to have this bug fixed. I don’t known at which point or which bug was it exactly, but it would be a really good idea to backport this fix. In my case, my application had libunwind linked in instead of using the builting gcc unwinder due to a 3rd party dependency, Google glog, used by the Google Ceres solver. However, it is only an optional dependency, and glog can be built without libunwind (it is just the preferred unwinder for printing stack dumps in glog). I had to rebuild glog without libunwind to stop my application from crashing (the builtin gcc unwinder works fine). Google has a strict policy against using C++ exceptions so I’m not surprised that they haven’t stumbled upon this. ** Affects: google-glog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libunwind (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: focal ** Description changed: - There is a serious bug in libunwind 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 - which causes a crash when handling exceptions (C++ in my case). + There is a serious bug in libunwind 1.2.1 on + Ubuntu 20.04 which causes a crash when + handling exceptions (C++ in my case). - I have observed libunwind incorrectly restoring registers - while executing DWARF opcodes in .eh_frame. Hi. Since you're already monospace issue reported in #1700218, I will concentrate on the white commit description text. It is broken using both Ambiance and Radiance, see screenshot. [Bug 1636827] Re: wireless network list disappears
1) No, it definitely did not occur in 14.04. I believe it's a regression. 2) James Ferguson noted here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1590985/comments/7) that he gets the bug after resuming from suspend. I will update later with more specifics, but I consistently get the bug when running Ubuntu for some time (an hour, couple of hours?), perhaps doing a suspend. [Bug 879659] [NEW] windows minimizing animation plays in background
Public bug reported: lets say when you minimize window on your desktop in ubuntu what happends.. the window will minimize in the unity dock... but in Compiz Manager u can add an animation to the minimizing effect ...for example Magic Lamp, so your windows will minimize with nice Magic Lamp effect.. but when you open more windows on your desktop and you minimize a window, you expect to see that Magic Lamp effect...but you DONT, because the minimize effecet will play in behind all other windows and not in foreground..so that minimizing effect should be played in foreground all other windows for you to see the effect and not in background all other windows. PICTURE: the window Documents was in foreground when i clicked on minimize.. but as you can see the minimizing is playing on the background .. so if you have some maximized window it will play behind them ..so you will actually not see that your window is minimizing... i tried it on a different laptop (Virtual Machine) ..fresh install Ubuntu 11.10 + newest updates (compiz also) and it does the same thing... ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879659 Title: windows minimizing animation plays in background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/879659/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 577916] Re: lucid regression: does not resume from hibernation
I'm running win/ubuntu dual boot system. After 10.04 was released I wiped 9.10 and performed clean install. No swap partition remained from the previous installation of Ubuntu. Also resume, fstab and sudo blkid were having the same UUID for swap partition. As an next I re-formated swap partition. After that updated fstab and resume files according the information I got from sudo blkid and ran sudo update-initramfs -c -k all. Still the same behavior. On Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 8:15 PM, Usama Akkad uahe...@gmail.com wrote: replacing the uuid in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume with the actual swap partition uuid fixed my problem maybe that happened because I've had 9.10 with 10.04 and then I removed 9.10 and it seems that the swap was not enabled on Lucid and I enabled it manually. [Bug 568565] Re: gdu-notification-daemon closed unexpectedly - Lucid RC Live CD
I have the same issue. I really wanted to report it but as stated above, it is not possible. Moreover, after this 'unreportable' error another one comes (gdu-volume monitor closed unexpectadly). Also this one is not reportable. After few seconds the whole system completely freezes with distorted stripes all over the screen and all I can do is hard reboot. So I do not have a chance to send any log or whatever needed!!! Obviously there is a problem with VGA drivers or something like that. I do not have any special PC and what is the most important, IT HAS BEEN WORKING flawlessly since 8.10 till 9.10 including!! I do not understand how can happen that once working graphic can be after one and half year corrupted in so-called 'LTS' release. I really would like to contribute, send any log, anything that would help but I simply cant because as said my computer booted with Lucid Live CD freezes few moments after startup, and after reported gdu errors appeared. Hi Sebastien, I've unlocked my version and updated to the latest available (1:2.30.1-0ubuntu1). It seems to be working fine now.
