[Bug 84448] Re: Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Working-Hanging

2007-02-12 Thread Matt Medland
Hi,

Okay, I'm guessing it's a problem to do with installing it via ubuntu-
desktop rather than the actual control-center or theme-manager itself,
as you said earlier that other apps were affected.

I'll mark the source package as ubuntu-desktop until I know for sure

2007-02-11 Thread Matt Medland
Hi,

I think you might be missing a bit of the system that some bits use.

If you could paste the results of 'dpkg -l libgtk2.0-0' (paste that into
the terminal without the quotations) that might help.

If it says that it can't find it, try 'sudo aptitude install
libgtk2.0-0' (in the again) and then retry using the them manager.

I didn't see this before I replied last time. A 'dupe' is a duplicate,
in other words if it's already been reported.

I was just asking some of the experienced bug helpers whether they

[Bug 80856] Re: F-Spot as default for importing photos

2007-01-22 Thread Matt Medland
If that is the case then i think one or the other should be default why
have two? There are better email app than evolution but it is the most
complete and similar to outlook, which is why it is default. Why are we
having such a tough time with a photo app?

I think we should let the user have the best available by default, and
if they want to change to an older application that's their choice.

I think we should now file a specification about this, it is not a
real bug report any more. There might be something similar filed
already.

That's true, I'll get onto it when I've got my exams over and done with
(tomorrow). If anyone wants to make a start I see no reason why not. :)

Hi,

I got the theme here: http://www.gnome-

And no errors at all I'm afraid.

One thing, on the link above they state that it

Requires clearlooks or ubuntulooks engine..

I'm wondering if the engine it is using changes the scrollbars? That
might be it, but I don't know gtk enough to say, so its a shot in the
dark.

[Bug 78702] Re: [Edgy] Command can't be run as root in the GUI

2007-01-10 Thread Matt Medland
Hi,

It doesn't exactly solve your problem, but there is a way to open the
folder that you're in as root.

If you go here: http://g-scripts.sourceforge.net/nautilus-
scripts/Execute/Misc/root-nautilus-here

and save that in ~/Nautilus/scripts.

You can then click on the background of the folder, choose scripts (I
think) and then choose the script.

As I said before, it doesn't completely solve your problem but it helps.

Thanks,

Odd.

In the bottom right of Thunderbird there's a little thing saying how
many unread mails you have, and how many in total.

When I click on the root 'folder' (above inbox) for my account in

2007-01-09 Thread Matt Medland
Thanks Christian and Freddy, :).

I can't edit anything, it just lets me browse the directory.

To me this seems like a kind of bad way of going about it, maybe it
would be better if firefox (or epiphany) told us that the file wasn't
there, and asked us if we wanted to find it. That might be better.

Have you tried reinstalling firefox? Sometime something that simple
sorts it out.

[Bug 53587] Re: Preferred Applications in Gnome doesn't allow choice in CD/DVD Burning software

2007-01-08 Thread Matt Medland
I'm not sure if thats the same bug. That probably deserves to be a bug
by it's self, and I'm setting this as rejected now anyhow.

Thanks for the report.

Matt

Actually,

I think I might stick in a spec for extending the current Preferred
Application box with more options.

Cheers for the inspiration. :)

2007-01-08 Thread Matt Medland
I'm glad you like the idea. :)

I'll get on writing the spec (my first one :D) and see what the powers
that be think of it then.

If you want to work with me on this that would be grand.

I've put the spec together, I'm not sure what the quality is like
compared to specs made by the pros, but its a start:

I've marked this as a duplicate of https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source

There's quite a lot of discussion on there that might help.

[Bug 50629] Re: Firefox starter in starterbar doesn't use homepage

2007-01-07 Thread Matt Medland
I get something similar, but not quite.

For some reason when I do it it opens http://www.%u.com/.

The reason yours would be going to the arizona site would be because of
the google I'm feeling lucky feature occuring automatically whenever you
type a word into the address bar.

I'll confirm this because the starter doesn't open firefoxes homepage.
Thanks for the report :).
