[Bug 1050258] Re: crystalhd-dkms 1:0.0~git20110715.fdd2f19-7: crystalhd kernel module failed to build

2013-02-21 Thread Ryan Schwenker
The reason behind the issue with the driver is acually a change in the
kernel. I don't remember much, but somthing was removed from the kernel
between Precise and Quantal that the CrystalHD driver depends on, so it
does not work. As the driver is unmaintained (I'm paraphrasing a dev
here: computers are powerfully enough without it, and if you need it,
you need a new computer) no one has fixed it yet.

Thats as much help as I can be.

[Bug 976888] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null); EIP is at 0x0

2012-11-06 Thread Ryan Schwenker
This bug is not possible to reproduce, as the kernel has changed. The
CrystalHD driver can no longer be compiled with current kernels present
in 12.10 and on. The .deb packages in the repositories do not work, and
the driver is not maintained.

[Bug 879525] Re: Rhythmbox CD ripping to FLAC broken

2012-05-17 Thread Ryan Schwenker
This issue still seems to exist somewhat in the version of Rhythmbox in
precise. I have options for FLAC, but I cannot edit settings for any of
the options that I have to encode in. I'm re-opening temporarily to see
if this still needs to be addressed. Please feel free to close if it is
invalid, or If I should open a new report.

[Bug 999406] [NEW] Apport does not open bug on Launchpad

2012-05-14 Thread Ryan Schwenker
Public bug reported:

Until Ubuntu Precise came out, when an application would crash, Apport
would do it's thing, and then open up Launchpad.net in Firefox (or any
web browser), so I could add more information, and send it to the bug
tracker. Now, with 12.04, everytime somthing crashes, Apport pops into
action, but does not open up Launchpad.net when it's done gathering and
submitting data If it even gets that far. The progress bar moves,
finishes, and then apport closes. I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a
feature that is disabled, but if it can be re-implemented, I would
appreciate it.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 946301 ***

One again, I need to express my hatered for how Launchpad deals with
private bugs. If private bugs were able to at least be searched only
during the reporting process, I would have already marked it as a
duplicate. Private bugs are fucking stupid.

Right. The kernel installs and runs just fine. It's just the CrystalHD

2012-04-11 Thread Ryan Schwenker
I can not seem to get the module to compile itself either manually from
the source or the DKMS package from the repos. I have attached my
termial log for trying to compile from source. I think it is because
there is no kernel source package available. I am willing to do anything
to help out, as long as it is NOT compiling the entire kernel from
source, as I've had nothing but problems doing that before. Any help
would be appriciated.

[Bug 976888] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)

2012-04-09 Thread Ryan Schwenker
Hmm. Well, I cannot get this specific issue to reproduce with the method
I described before, but I got a very similar behavior when I clicked on
the Videos section on the Dash home. However, I'm reporting that as a
new bug (Bug #977310), because, as I said before, I'm not an expert in
the kernel area. Also, for what it's worth, I expeirenced similar issues
in Oneiric when, while watching a video, the screen would go to text,
have somthing about the CrystalHD driver, and I would manually have to
switch back over to the Xorg session using the CTRL+ALT+F7 combo. I
still have to do that for these issues, too. Also, the driver stalls
mostly every time I use it.

[Bug 976897] Re: audacity crashed with SIGABRT

2012-04-08 Thread Ryan Schwenker
I'm changing this back to new, only because of the fact that the
packages listed as being outdated by the bot are not outdated, but are
newer versions provided by PPAs. If this bug is indeed still invalid
regardless of the packages, then please re-mark as such.

2012-03-18 Thread Ryan Schwenker
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is an actual issue or not, but to me, the wording
...until the computer next restarts. is a little abrupt or, IDK, just
struck me as odd. Maybe it could say ..until the computer's next

I attached a screenshot.

[Bug 901972] [NEW] Allow Custom Smiley Manager to write changes to /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/emotes/*THEME_NAME*/theme

2011-12-08 Thread Ryan Schwenker

When I add custom smiles to pidgin, I expected them to show up in my
conversations when other people sent me that text. for example, I added

text containing those characters, not when i RECEIVE text containing
them. This might be a bug, but I think its more of a Wishlist item.

Ok, on 11.10 final and iOS 5 GM (GM and final ARE the same release in
this case), my iPad 2 is giving me Lockdown Error -15. I swear it worked

[Bug 685438] Re: gnome-lirc-properties won't start

2011-10-11 Thread Ryan Schwenker
Sorry to bump this, but this issue is still present in Oneiric. Using
the HAL workaround fixes the issue. Maybe the package dependencies
should be changed to require HAL, now that it is depreciated and not
present in a default installation.

[Bug 795475] Re: [iOS5 devices do not work] Unhandled lockdown error (-4)

2011-10-06 Thread Ryan Schwenker
I can confirm that ideviceinfo -d when run in a terminal, does not
output anything. Maybe it writes to a file? Anyway, I have this issue
with iOS5 GM on my iPad 2 with Ubuntu Oneiric x86. Also, is error (-4)
the same as error (-15)?, because
http://libiphone.lighthouseapp.com/projects/27916/tickets/220-unhandled-
lockdown-error-4 says the issue (-4) was resolved, but
http://libiphone.lighthouseapp.com/projects/27916/tickets/221-unhandled-
lockdown-error-15 is a different error (-15) than what I'm experiencing,
and what most people are reporting having. Please excuse me if I'm being
noobish here, I just thought that was odd.

[Bug 815114] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::Area::FindKeyFocusArea()

2011-09-09 Thread Ryan Schwenker
I just experienced this issue while doing file operations with Nautilus.
Also (don't think this is related), the window decorations have not been
bringing the correct window to focus. Sometimes when I try to click on
any button on the title bar, it acts like it's not there and routes the
click to the program behind the window decoration. The window itself
works, but it looses focus if I try to do this.

I could not reproduce this issue correctly to obtain a valgrind report. When
this issue happened, I opened the file with eog, i didn't open eog, then open
the file within it. When I open the file within eog (during the attached
valgrind session) i get this smallError domain 1 code 4 on line 1 column 1
of file:///home/gothickitty93/Downloads/ed_title.svgz: Start tag expected, ''
