[Bug 1969795] [NEW] vacation doesn't add recommended rfc3834 headers
Public bug reported: RFC 3834 recommends the use of appropriate Precedence and Auto-submitted headers for programs that automatically respond to email. While the debian/ubuntu version of vacation looks for both these headers (at least as of 3.3.1), it generates neither of them, leading to unnecessary processing for other mail systems as well as spurious responses to the vacation auto message. This feature was asked for in the same bug report that led to the check for the Auto-submitted header, but appears to have been overlooked (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496916). This bug effects all supported versions of Ubuntu (including Jammy Jellyfish). The provided patch was made against vacation-3.3.3 If it would be more appropriate to report this bug to debian, please let me know. ** Affects: vacation (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "Patch to add rfc3834 recommended headers" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969795/+attachment/5582134/+files/add-rfc3834-headers.patch.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969795 Title: vacation doesn't add recommended rfc3834 headers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vacation/+bug/1969795/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878578] Re: Some menu icons are missing
I've found a workaround until the proper fix gets backported. This is not supported and may break things. Proceed at your own risk (there is a way to undo this). Install the latest `mypaint-data` from the current Ubuntu 20.10 (`groovy`) builds. 1. Visit https://packages.ubuntu.com/groovy/all/mypaint-data/download 2. Download the .deb file from any mirror 3. Install via package manager (QApt, dpkg, Ubuntu Software, etc) $ sudo dpkg -i mypaint-data_2.0.*_all.deb $ # Example: $ # sudo dpkg -i mypaint-data_2.0.0+git20200502-1_all.deb If you want to undo the changes, you can downgrade `mypaint-data`: $ sudo apt install mypaint-data=2.0.0-2 The exact version may change! Check `apt-cache show mypaint-data | grep 'Version'`. I've put a bit more information about this workaround on the upstream MyPaint issue as well: https://github.com/mypaint/mypaint/issues/1064#issuecomment-632988335 ** Bug watch added: github.com/mypaint/mypaint/issues #1064 https://github.com/mypaint/mypaint/issues/1064 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878578 Title: Some menu icons are missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mypaint/+bug/1878578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1809407] Re: [nvidia] Corrupted wallpaper after resuming from suspend or hibernation
Having recently tried upgrading an 18.04 system to 19.10, I can confirm ~rigues 's behavior - complete screen corruption after resuming from suspend when using the Nouveau driver (NVidia driver only partly corrupts). [Bug 1809407] Re: [nvidia] Corrupted wallpaper after resuming from suspend or hibernation
I've had this issue in the past on Ubuntu 18.04 with the NVidia 340.x driver series. Two days ago with driver 340.107 and the latest released system updates, the lockscreen wallpaper corrupted for about 2 seconds on resume from suspend, then the wallpaper reloaded, appearing fine. In the past, the lockscreen wallpaper would remain corrupted for at least a minute (presumably indefinitely, but I didn't wait to find out). Thanks for your reply. I had used chrome browser to print the article and the preview did not show the break in but showed the document in entirety. I just used foxfire and the document printed in entirety but with two more pages due to larger font, which is fine really, so I guess I will start using Firefox more for the the things that chrome won't do as it is becoming clearer that Firefox seems more versatile at this time than chrome (which I've been using since streaming Netflix was made possible years ago). [Bug 1781039] Re: GCE cloudinit and ubuntu keys from metadata to ubuntu authorized_keys
I've tested a "first boot" scenario using a customised image with this patched cloud-init and it works as expected (you can see both cloudinit and ubuntu keys above the 'Added by google' comment). $ cat googlekeys carbon:ssh-rsa BZCRI2M shaner@carbon ubuntu:ssh-rsa B65Otq/ shaner@ubuntu cloudinit:ssh-rsa ..6s3oSv shaner@cloudinit # USING CUSTOM IMAGE WITH UPGRADED CLOUD-INIT # $ gcloud compute instances create trusty1 --image custom-cloud-init --image-project firm-lacing-209716 --metadata-from-file=ssh-keys=googlekeys --metadata=block-project-ssh-keys=True $ ssh ubuntu@x.x.x.x cat .ssh/authorized_keys ssh-rsa B65Otq/ shaner@ubuntu ssh-rsa ..6s3oSv shaner@cloudinit # Added by Google ssh-rsa B65Otq/ shaner@ubuntu # USING EXISTING IMAGE $ gcloud compute instances create trust2 --image-family ubuntu-1404-lts --image-project ubuntu-os-cloud --metadata-from-file=ssh-keys=googlekeys --metadata=block-project-ssh-keys=True $ ssh ubuntu@${IP} cat .ssh/authorized_keys # Added by Google ssh-rsa B.z65Otq/ shaner@ubuntu $ scp cloud-init_0.7.5-0ubuntu1.23_all.deb ubuntu@${IP}:~/ $ ssh ubuntu@${IP} sudo dpkg -i cloud-init_0.7.5-0ubuntu1.23_all.deb $ ssh ubuntu@${IP} sudo rm -rf /var/lib/cloud/instances $ ssh ubuntu@${IP} sudo reboot $ ssh ubuntu@${IP} cat .ssh/authorized_keys ssh-rsa .6s3oSv shaner@cloudinit # Added by Google ssh-rsa B65Otq/ shaner@ubuntu You'll notice in this second example, the 'ubuntu' key from my googlekeys file isn't added on top like you would expect if the image had an upgraded cloud-init. I can confirm that running `sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow- ubuntu` finally worked for me. The only difference between this time and last time is that I ran it when the install screen was already launched (the initial screen, not the final one with the slideshow), which lead to a broken link page where the slideshow used to be. [Bug 1771903] [NEW] Deadlock using ASIO in multiple threads
Public bug reported: [Impact] The version of ASIO shipped with Bionic (1.10.8-1) has a race condition that can cause a program using ASIO in multiple threads to hang forever. The attached test case reproduces it in a single program, but it also can happen if two libraries are independently using ASIO and linked by the same executable. The justification for fixing the issue in Bionic is the patch is obviously safe and is not being applied to a critical infrastructure package. The attached patch was taken from a commit to the upstream repository. It appears to change the order that some state gets cleaned up. [Test Case] Save the attached files asio_stall_example.cpp and 0001-Don-t-free-the- reactor-s-per-descriptor-state-until-.patch # Download the source code and extract it wget https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/asio/1:1.10.8-1/asio_1.10.8.orig.tar.bz2 tar -xjvf asio_1.10.8.orig.tar.bz2 # Build using the extracted headers g++ -o example --std=c++11 -I asio-1.10.8/include/ -pthread asio_stall_example.cpp # Loop until the program hangs (happens within 1 to 20 iterations) while ./example ; do date ; done # Apply the attached patch cd asio-1.10.8 patch -p 2 --input=../0001-Don-t-free-the-reactor-s-per-descriptor-state-until-.patch # Rebuild with patch and run example again. # The loop runs for much longer, only hanging momentarily if all ports are blocked by a socket in TIME_WAIT g++ -o example --std=c++11 -I asio-1.10.8/include/ -pthread asio_stall_example.cpp while ./example ; do date ; done [Regression Potential] ASIO is shipped as a header only library, so the potential for a regression is limited to binaries built after this patch is applied. The fix only adds a non-virtual member function to internal 'reactor' classes, so I don't think ABI breakage of downstream libraries is a concern. Reactor classes are internal and chosen by typedef to the type `reactor` depending on preprocessor definitions. If there exists a custom reactor class downstream then it would be possible to get a compile time error about missing the method cleanup_descriptor_data(). Someone implementing a custom reactor class would need to add a typedef of their class to 'reactor' and prevent ASIO from creating it's own typedef. It could be done by defining the include guard ASIO_DETAIL_REACTOR_FWD_HPP prior to including asio. [Other Info] The attached file asio_stall_example.cpp was taken from this issue on github and minimized https://github.com/chriskohlhoff/asio/issues/180 The attached patch was made by cloning upstream and running git format-patch -1 669e6b8 The original reporter on github says the issue only occurs if compiler optimizations are turned on; however, I see it both with and without optimizations. ** Affects: asio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "Example program reproducing issue, and a patch to fix it." https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771903/+attachment/5141061/+files/deadlock_asio_example.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771903 Title: Deadlock using ASIO in multiple threads To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/asio/+bug/1771903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: The openstack-dashboard /server-status page is accessible by default. While useful for some, the existence of the this page may be considered a vulnerability. [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working
I have the same issue and the trigger seemed to be moving from an AMD to an Nvidia graphics card. Switching to console (CTRL Alt F1) and back fixes it but can cause some issues with any graphical applications running at the time. [Bug 994063] Re: do-release-upgrade can't be continued after drop to shell
Potential recovery: For what it's worth. I just ran into this issue and recovered using reptyr. I had to build it from source from https://github.com/nelhage/reptyr though, as apt was locked up. * run 'pstree -p' to find the PID to reconnect to. The tree looked something like: - trusty - ??? - bash - emacs You want to PID of the leaf node here (in this case emacs) * Then run 'reptyr PID'. This will land you back in your editor with potentially a bunged up terminal state (which is why you're in this mess to begin with). Exit your editor safely (in my case, emacs wouldn't accept C- commands, but handled ESC-x save-buffers-kill-terminal). * Clean up whatever you were cleaning up (being careful of course) * Run 'exit', as do-release-upgrade instructed In my case, I was still slightly screwed because I messed up the pty of the 'trusty' process above while I was trying to figure this out. My apt and dpgk state was okay though, so I could just restart the upgrade. But I think this will allow you to resume your current release upgrade unscathed. I'd be interested to hear reports if anyone tries this. Hopefully this helps someone! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994063 Title: do-release-upgrade can't be continued after drop to shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager-core/+bug/994063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1421184] Re: Merge latest version (2.48.3-1) with Debian
Tim Edwards, there's another way to work-around this that might be easier. I should've added a comment on it. For the command-line client ONLY: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/unison For both graphical and command-line client: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/unison-gtk Make sure to download the right architecture from below, most likely 'amd64' for 64-bit, or 'i386' for 32-bit. You shouldn't need any of the dependencies; Ubuntu 14.04 has new-enough versions. If you have both packages installed (no need), you'll have to upgrade both or remove the old 'unison' package as 'unison-gtk' seems to offer the same program. I've had success directly downloading the .deb packages for Unison 2.48.3-1 and installing them on my desktop and laptop running Ubuntu 14.04 with latest updates. Nothing seems to break, just a slight sensible re-arrangement of the GUI buttons. This isn't the best idea, but it's a viable work-around for now. A proper backport to trusty- updates would be better. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421184 Title: Merge latest version (2.48.3-1) with Debian To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unison/+bug/1421184/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1421184] Re: Merge latest version (2.48.3-1) with Debian
Would someone with the appropriate permissions mark this as affecting Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, too? The original bug report remarked on trying to use newer Unison clients with older Ubuntu servers, and in my case, I have the reverse issue - old clients, new server. For ease of transition as users upgrade their desktops and servers at different times, Unison in 14.04 could be upgraded to 2.48.3-1 with the old package available as 'unison-2.40', akin to the current setup for 'unison2.32.52': http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/unison2.32.52 Or, for least disruption to 14.04-only systems where server might not be managed by those with the clients, the opposite would also work, albeit perhaps less ideal - packaging 2.48.3-1 as 'unison2.48.3', leaving 'unison' untouched.

[Bug 1543374] [NEW] [regression] Unison segfault when transferring data, "input_value: bad bigarray kind"
Public bug reported: After installing the latest round of updates to Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial, Unison segfaults when synchronizing some files across SSH. Steps 1. Install unison on a local machine running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and a remote device running Ubuntu 16.04 and unison_2.40.102-2ubuntu2. 2. Synchronize certain types of files. In my case, the Rhythmbox database and 1 GB+ .tar.gz archives both caused issues. What happens Unison aborts on the server side while the client displays: Uncaught exception Failure("input_value: bad bigarray kind"). What should happen Files are synchronized as usual. Reverting to the previous version unison_2.40.102-2ubuntu1 from Wily and below works around the issue. As Unison was rebuilt without changes ( http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/u/unison/unison_2.40.102-2ubuntu2/changelog ), I don't know if a third-party library may have changed instead. If there's any way I may help with debugging (such as running a test build), let me know! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073488 Title: window management - if a window is always on top, it will always get focus after switching between workspaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1073488/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
