Yes, that's the commit. V0.11.1 will be released soon. Apart from this
change, it contains a few minor fixes.

Fixed in git FeatherPad and will be in V0.11.1.

BTW, the previous behavior was intentional (not a bug) but the new one
seems better.

[Bug 1522675] Re: /root/.synaptic/ not created due to locking status

2016-07-31 Thread Tsu Jan
Cleaning up Firefox bookmarks, I encountered this report again.
Apparently, apt developers don't want to see this as a bug, so don't
wait for a fix! To get rid of that annoying message, you should have an
`_apt` user (which probably you have) and change the owner of the folder
in question from `root:root` to `_apt:root`.

I'm on Debian and the above trick worked here months ago.

On Debian I get messages like this when the download process is
completed:

W: Can't drop privileges for downloading as file
'/var/cache/apt/archives/partial/PACKAGE' couldn't be accessed by user

However, after I close the dialog, I can update the packages. Of course
PACKAGE isn't there after it's downloaded completely. Why Synaptic
searches for it in that folder, I don't know.

Sadly the bugs in nvidia 319.x and 331.20 can cause several other

325.15 is OK.

[Bug 1064147] [NEW] Darkens widgets with transparent bg colors

2012-10-08 Thread Tsu Jan
Public bug reported:

I am the author of a GTK3+Gnome-Shell theme named GnomishGray, which
uses transparent bg colors for many widgets to show the gray gradient
behind them. The theme is OK on Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE, but some
Ubuntu users reported blackened areas with it.

I'm not an Ubuntu user myself but saw the same thing with the latest
version of Ubuntun Quantal Beta on VirtualBox. The darkening effect was
random but often occurred on resizing scrollable widgets.

However, after removing overlay-scrollbar, the problem was completely
fixed, so I'm reporting this bug here.

I'll attach a preliminary version of the theme for GNOME 3.4 if
Launchpad allows that.

Sorry that I can't give more info on this as my distro is Debian.

... for .23 the orig. likely would need no mod.

Strange! The upstream commit you mentioned isn't (fully?) applied to

[Bug 788437] Re: Crash when band width is exhausted

2011-06-03 Thread Tsu Jan
Just a guess:

The function cd_weather_update_from_data() is used in
cd_weather_launch_periodic_task() in weather/src/applet-read-data.c:

myData.pTask = cairo_dock_new_task_full (myConfig.iCheckInterval,
(CairoDockGetDataAsyncFunc) cd_weather_get_distant_data,
(CairoDockUpdateSyncFunc) cd_weather_update_from_data,
(GFreeFunc) _free_shared_memory,
pSharedMemory);

_free_shared_memory(), which includes cd_weather_reset_weather_data
(pSharedMemory-wdata), is called there. So, perhaps
cd_weather_reset_weather_data (pSharedMemory-wdata) should be removed
from cd_weather_update_from_data()?

[Bug 546406] Re: update-initramfs Can't open /scripts/functions

2010-05-27 Thread Tsu Jan
This bug isn't specific to Ubuntu. I come from Debian Squeeze and after
a recent update of initscripts (and its related packages), I got these
messages when doing update-initramfs:

 Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-3-686-bigmem
.: 6: Can't open /scripts/functions
.: 5: Can't open /scripts/functions

I solved my problem by upgrading all bootcd packages to v3.20 from the
unstable repository.

BTW, Splashy doesn't work with the new initscripts anymore.

[Bug 429438] Re: brasero complains about files with Rock Ridge name and aborts with disk destroyed

2010-05-11 Thread Tsu Jan
@ Schily: It seems that you are right about genisoimage. I downloaded
and compiled the original cdrkit but hesitated to install it because it
overwrites so many files. However, I just didn't install the genisoimage
extensions for Brasero (fortunately, they are in a separate package in
Debian, i.e. in brasero-cdrkit) and the problem was fixed! libisofs
doesn't have this problem.

I'll consider to install the original cdrkit in a clean way soon. I
should have listened to you sooner ;)

The bug is perhaps in genisoimage, not in Brasero :)

OK, Schily's cdrtools works seamlessly (and I was wrong about its

mkisofs executable in '/usr/bin/', and recreate genisoimage as a symlink
pointing to it! Brasero will work fine!

[Bug 449419] Re: Shortcuts and Stack Plugins doesn't work properly sometimes

2010-05-10 Thread Tsu Jan
It only happens with web links.

Previously it happened with local links too, and my first report was
about that only. So, it seems that the bug is fixed for local links in
both Debian and Ubuntu now.

I've also tried to use your workaround.

My workaround was only for the Shortcut applet (local links, of course).

All in all, it seems that this is a bug in the Stack applet with web
links. We have to wait for the developer's reply. He's usually fast in
this regard :)

[Bug 449419] Re: Shortcuts and Stack Plugins doesn't work properly sometimes

2010-05-10 Thread Tsu Jan
Ok, Heinrich is right. The Stack applet has some problem with web links,
and for me, it makes no difference if the link is HTTP or HTTPS. I use
Firefox 3.6.3 directly downloaded from the Mozilla site. I don't get any
error messages but:

(1) Firefox doesn't start the first time I click on the link and the
second time, it says that another instance is running;

(2) Cairo-Dock sometimes even crashes when I click on the we blink and
gives this message: Couldn't guess if it was an applet's fault or not.
It may have crashed inside the core or inside a thread.

I hadn't found this bug before because I don't use the Stack applet for
bookmarks (the bookmarks of Firefox itself do the job for me).

There isn't such a behavior with local links anymore.

[Bug 429438] Re: brasero complains about files with Rock Ridge name and aborts with disk destroyed

2010-03-20 Thread Tsu Jan
This is an annoying bug in Brasero and shows up when a file name
contains a string of the form %1a, where 1 and a can be replaced
with any numeral and alphabet letter, respectively. Such files must be
in a folder in the composition area to create a problem for Brasero. I
reported this bug several months ago but it still persists in Brasero
2.29. It has been there since v2.26!

The fault isn't with genisoimage. I use K3b and n-c-b in Gnome and both
of them work well with genisoimage.

[Bug 428435] Re: luks encrypted partition not detected

2010-02-04 Thread Tsu Jan
I think, I've encountered this bug in Debian squeeze too, but in a safe
way. I have 9 partitions on my desktop computer (P5QC) and only the UUID
of sda9 isn't detected. Fortunately, it isn't the root partition.

I've never installed Windows on this computer but formatted its hard
with etx3 from the start. My udev's version is 150-2. I also have an old
Ubuntu Hardy, in which the UUID of sda9 is correctly detected. On
Debian, this behavior happened since a few weeks ago, perhaps after udev
was updated.

sudo blkid -o udev -p /dev/sda9 gives:

/dev/sda9: ambivalent result (probably more filesystems on the device)

Is this problem related to partitioning with an older version of parted
(GParted)? Or it's udev's fault?

As a temporary workaround, instead of Shortcuts applet you can use a
subdock with launchers like the following for your bookmarks or other
folders:

nautilus --no-desktop --browser file://FOLDER_PATH

The possibility of subdock creation is one of the Cairo-Dock's strong
points. You can even make subdocks in subdocks ;)
