[Bug 1940458] Re: Audio Device not recognized. Problem with sound.
After last Ubuntu Updates,I can watch now the HDMI/DisplayPort2, but when you go to Ubuntu Settings in Sound options (watch the screenshot attached in this comment), you can watch the HDMI/DisplayPort 2 and the config Salida Digital Estereo (Stereo Digital Output). If you change the config Stereo to HDMI 7.1 (I only have a stereo Speakers not 7.1 speakers), the config setting disappear in the Ubuntu Settings Menu and you can't select it again and you can't change it (check the screenshot). If you try to select HDMI/DisplayPort 2 it doesn't work because the 7.1 sound was selected and I have got a stereo speakers. To fix it I have opened pulse audio (check the other Screenshot attached) and in the top setting, GP102 HDMI Audio set the setting "Stereo Digital Output (HDMI2)". After that the sound was recovered. I don't know if the correct detection of the sound cards when switching on the PC was fixed or not. You will check if this part is fixed now with the last Ubuntu Updates. Thank you. ** Attachment added: "Screenshoot1.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1940458/+attachment/5518804/+files/Screenshoot1.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1940458 Title: Audio Device not recognized. I changed my motherboard and reinstalled Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS and it works well with the new kernel 5.8.0-34. Maybe the problem is the update patch when you have got the system installed. For example, when I reboot my PC, sometimes it doesn't start and stay in the msdos window that you watch at the beginning when you switch on the PC (It's the window that shows your motherboard, disk ready, etc). Another problems is that when I use Mozilla Firefox 84.0.2 64 bits, I have got some crashes randomly when I open a new tab (the crash is only in the new tab, not in all Firefox program). Please fix this kernel. Thank you. [Bug 1910763] [NEW] Steam Proton fails with Kernel 5.8.0-36 Ubuntu 20.04.1
Public bug reported: Yesterday, I updated my Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS and obtained the new official kernel (with the update) 5.8.0-36. With this kernel I have got a lot of problems with some games with Steam Proton. For example, with the Kernel 5.4.0-59 all works well, I could play Cyberpunk 2077 and Far Cry 5 without problems. Now, with the kernel 5.8.0-36 I can't play Cyberpunk 2077 and I have got low fps in some areas with Far Cry 5, obtaining for example 7-8 fps in the cinematic scene of faith. Some games doesn't start with the new kernel. Some people need this new kernel due to they have got new hardware pieces which are supported with this new kernel. Regards and thank you. [Bug 1888120] Re: Headphones detected like Speakers and Volume Problem
In Windows and in some games, you have got the option to select the sound output. For example, you can select headphones (auriculares in spanish) and the sound is lower to not damage your ears. The other option is to select speakers (altavoces in spanish), and in that case the sound is higher. I don't know if Ubuntu has got the same option in the kernel or if in Linux, maybe in Linux speakers and headphones are the same, and the output volume you obtain it's equal and indifferent. Public bug reported: I bought a Kyus Headphones, this model exactly: https://www.pccomponentes.com/krom-kyus-auriculares-gaming and when I connect the USB Headphones to my computer, the sound of Ubuntu 20.04 disappear. Currently when I connect my headphones, the sound card selected is Family 17h Audio controller (I think that this is the Jack Audio controller), and that is not the correct sound card because I am not using Jack, I am using USB connection. [Bug 1878484] Re: kernel panic on i915
It looks like it doesn't happen with 5.7.0-050700rc7-generic. I cannot be 100% sure as it happened randomly. I have got, however, something suspiciously similar that has never happened before. It has happened several times already, as randomly as when I got a kernel panic before. Screen hangs for a while, but system stays alive. Logs show: kernel: Asynchronous wait on fence :00:02.0:Xorg[33564]:a28c timed out (hint:intel_atomic_commit_ready+0x0/0x50 [i915]) kernel: i915 :00:02.0: GPU HANG: ecode 8:1:86dd, in Xorg [33564] kernel: i915 :00:02.0: Resetting rcs0 for stopped heartbeat on rcs0 kernel: i915 :00:02.0: Xorg[33564] context reset due to GPU hang -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878484 Title: kernel panic on i915 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1878484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878484] Re: kernel panic on i915
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I'm using 20.04 fully up to date on an Asrock N3700. I'm getting random crashes every now and then. [Bug 1878484] [NEW] kernel panic on i915
Public bug reported: I'm using 20.04 fully up to date on an Asrock N3700. I'm getting random crashes every now and then. Total crash, no ssh or anything (later I found out it's a kernel panic). Not tied to any app, but it happened more often during gaming. Logs didn't show anything, they just stop. I set up netconsole, with debug and ignore_loglevel in the command line and I got this: [77196.866485] BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: 00a72860 [77196.866527] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [77196.866535] #PF: error_code(0x) - not-present page [77196.866542] PGD 0 P4D 0 [77196.866552] Oops: [#1] SMP PTI [77196.866567] CPU: 2 PID: 1408 Comm: Xorg Tainted: P O 5.4.0-29-generic #33-Ubuntu [77196.866575] Hardware name: To Be Filled By O.E.M. [Bug 1271513]
As noted in the Release Notes of Firefox 52.0 [1], released March 7, 'Display (but allow users to override) an “Untrusted Connection” error when encountering SHA-1 certificates that chain up to a root certificate included in Mozilla’s CA Certificate Program.' So, it applies to all certs that have "AC Componentes Informáticos" in the cert chain. Untrusted Connection error with code: "SEC_ERROR_CERT_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM_DISABLED" is expected on all websites that have certs like https://www.edu.xunta.es/webmail/ (referenced before). Users may feel they have the same error like before Firefox 51.0. The only and unique version of Firefox where certs like this one works, is 51.0, released January 24, which was updated to NSS 3.28.1. [1] https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.0/releasenotes/ (Websites that have certs with "AC Administración Pública" in the cert chain ARE NOT impacted, as "AC Administración Pública" is signed with SHA-256.
