Bug https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/634211 also affects me.
Is there any way to get working older programs that require /dev/dsp?
Thanks.

[Bug 663441] [NEW] NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidiactl (Permission denied) when running firefox-4.0

2010-10-19 Thread Cedric Pinson
Public bug reported:

It happens on Maverick

I dont know exactly if it's related to firefox 4 ppa or nvidia package. But
when I tried to run firefox-4.0 I have NVIDIA: could not open the device file
/dev/nvidiactl (Permission denied)
I have tried to chmod 777 chown me chgrp video, nothing to do to have it works.

I have seen this bug reported so, is it only me ?

Here the ppa I used that could be related
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu

To reproduce the problem you have to activate layer in firefox-4.0
about:config
search for layer and activate on all

Fix is committed on upstream, but not on mainstream Ubuntu kernel 2.6.32

When will Canonical update mainstream to 2.6.34? If not soon, would it
be possible to merge the fix please ?

[Bug 580305] Re: Version of hid-quanta in Lucid kernel is broken

2010-08-04 Thread Cedric Priscal
On Ubuntu kernel (2.6.32-24-generic):
[9.714605] quanta-touch 0003:0408:3000.0001: hiddev96,hidraw2: USB HID
v1.10 Device [Acer T230H] on usb-:00:06.0-2/input0

On upstream kernel (2.6.34-rc7):
[ 11.004061] quanta-touch 0003:0408:3000.0003: input,hidraw2: USB HID v1.10
Device [Acer T230H] on usb-:00:06.0-2/input0

On Ubuntu kernel, it seems the hid-quanta module registers a hiddev96 input
device instead of a standard input input device.
Nevertheless, I do not see any modification in the code between Ubuntu and
upstream kernels regarding hid-quanta.c, maybe the driver for hiddev96 is
missing on Ubuntu kernel.

No i did not do apt-get install libc6
I wanted to be sure :)

i just installed the libc6 from #25 and i can't reproduce the bug
anymore, so it seems to fix the issue.

Thank you for your helps.

What should i do now ? stay with the version #25 or do anything else ?

[Bug 560135] Re: g++ internal compiler error when trying to build OpenSceneGraph 2.8.3

2010-04-13 Thread Cedric Pinson
I tried with gcc 4.3 and gcc snapshot. I have the same problem 'internal
compiler error: Segmentation fault' but for other version it's not at the same
file.
Would it be possible that the bug comes from a dependencies ? like libc or
something like that ?

I am still stuck because of this bug, if anyone can help. It ll
appreciate a lot.

[Bug 560135] Re: g++ internal compiler error when trying to build OpenSceneGraph 2.8.3

2010-04-13 Thread Cedric Pinson
I did a test like listing all command line to put them in a script then running
this script to build the project. I executed this script, some .cpp files have
been built but i saw some that fails with the gcc internal error.
After i tried to run again make to test, and i was able to build the files that
failed with the script.

I dont really know what to think, i would think to an hardware problem,
but it seems that we can repeat the process and have the same error.

I asked to someone on the irc to build it and he was able to build
successfully the project. My hardware is lenovo w510 with icore 7 820Q

dont know if it's related or not with hardware, any idea will be
appreciated

[Bug 448908] Re: Artec T1 AN2235 DVB USB device is no more detected

2010-04-09 Thread Cedric
As mentionned by Benjamin, Andy Whitcroft fix solved the firmware load
part but the bug #448811 prevent using the box.

The kernel with CONFIG_DVB_USB_DIBUSB_MB_FAULTY=y solved a problem of
hardware detection. By rmmoding usbtest, and then connecting the artec
box the firmware loaded in the box with the green led, and then it was
able to detect the dvb hardware.

[Bug 460298] Re: Installation failed when path to the ISO contains non-ascii characters

2010-02-12 Thread Cedric Veilleux
Just lost a few hours because of this bug. My system is in French and
the process would fail with Installation failed message and nothing
else..

Took me a while to find the error in the log.

I understand this is a python bug and that is fine, but the process
should at least fail with a more useful error message or a pointer to
the log file!

[Bug 444757] Re: Can't click butttons inside flash (like play/pause in youtube)

2009-10-13 Thread cedric munger
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 410407 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407

Having exactly the same issue with latest karmic beta,

Used the link provided by andrew
(http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html) to get the latest flash
player version.
Tried to replace the /usr/lib/flashplayer-install/libflashplayer.so with the
new version but did not work, no idea why.
Finally i had to uninstall flashplayer-install and manually copy
libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

Everything now works fine even with compiz turned on. Will try to
reinstall flashplayer-install when karmic will hit the final release
stage. Hope it will help.

2009-07-07 Thread Cedric
Somehow the problem disappeared once I edited /etc/default/hal by adding
the --verbose=yes option to the daemon. And then the problem did stay
away when removing the --verbose=yes.

It sounds like the default /etc/default/hal option has some problem,
maybe a missing end of line or something. I cannot reproduce it though.

[Bug 352197] Re: ata timeout exception with ahci libata driver (was with 2.6.28-11, but i confirmed it affewcts previous kernels too)

2009-05-08 Thread Cedric Schieli
I can confirm this bug on my Dell Vostro 1710 running Jaunty
(2.6.28-11-{generic,server}).
It occurs only once on every boot, when GDM starts (and thus does its
prefetch), provoking a ~30s blank screen with heavy disk activity before the
login screen.

[Bug 270223] Re: Can't install svg viewer plugin for firefox

2009-02-24 Thread Cedric Neve
My understanding is that the SVG support is provided by Firefox itself
since version 1.5. The fact that we require a plugin to make it work now
and the fact that there is no plugin for Firefox for SVG is all
originating from the fact that the native SVG support seems to be
broken. To me, it is indeed a firefox issue.

[Bug 322879] Re: Verizon CDMA PCMCIA card no longer works

2009-02-02 Thread Cedric Mordrin
I noticed this as well, with my UM150 and reverting to the 2.6.27.9 kernel
allows for the device to work again.
I tried on a co-workers Fedora 10 box w/ 2.6.27.12 and it had the same error I
was seeing on mine. We also tried his ATT Aircard and it also did not work.

[Bug 249448] Re: Bluetooth mouse does not re-establish connection after reboot

2008-12-06 Thread Cedric
Here is a workaround that worked for me ( who uses a Logitech Mouse.)
But I think it will occur with ANY mouse !

I identified that hciconfig reported that hci0 interface was RUNNING
but NOT SCANNING

I tried sudo hciconfig hci0 pscan

Then... it works until reboot.

So I inserted hciconfig hci0 pscan into /etc/init.d/bluetooth at the
end of the START) section (just before the log_end_msg 0)

I guess the problem is that some option is not kept at reboot for hci
module (or that I do not know how to specify this option in the
appropriate file).

Anyway, now everythng works (mouse reconnects after reboot or after
timeout).
