make-ab-view-text-selectable.patch

Yes, everything can be selected. But I think it makes not much sense to
select the whole pane as the output isn't well formed to use directly.

Better all can be selected than nothing how it is now.

[Bug 235101]

2022-05-26 Thread Richard Marti
Is the header really needed? When you select all the content (without
the headers) the formatting isn't like the card view. But if you really
want the headers, you need to add ".CardViewHeading".

[Bug 1901089] Re: Ubuntu kernels 5.4.0-51 and 5.4.0-52 break ir-keytable loading

2021-06-17 Thread Marti Martz
@tom-horsley

It's alright. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this "wonky" state.
Hard term to search on. I just retested on:

```
Linux 5.8.0-55-generic #62~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 2 08:55:04 UTC 2021
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
```

... this morning and it still repeats.

Please make sure to add to the "bug heat" icon at the top of this page so it
gets addressed sooner. And add yourself to the "affects me" list too at the top
of this bug.

It's a little confusing on all the replies here on exactly which kernel
has fixed the IR and when it will land in an apt release so drudging
merrily forward. :)

I've temporarily worked around by using a RF media remote for the time being
but I really miss the IR remote features I've assigned.

I leaved it like it is. With `vertical-align: middle` it is too low, see
screenshot, at least with normal scaling.

562977-progressmeter-statusbar.patch

This approach uses our colours to paint the progressmeter to also better
fit with our themes. Or do you propose a different colour than
--primary?

For the indeterminate state I used the approach FX is using on the
download panel.

I hope this helps with the CPU usage. I can't say if it's better as for
me it is still the same low value.

[Bug 1901089] Re: Ubuntu kernels 5.4.0-51 and 5.4.0-52 break ir-keytable loading

2021-05-16 Thread Marti Martz
Haven't fully tracked this issue in all kernels updated via apt but:

Kernel 5.4.0-51
Kernel 5.4.0-52
Kernel 5.4.0-65
Kernel 5.8.0-44
Kernel 5.8.0-49
Kernel 5.8.0-53

... all still have this issue.

At Kernel 5.8.0-49 IR went wonky with repeating key button presses for
quite some time although it does finally appear to stop after seventy-
six (76) times of:

```
44076.138469: event type EV_KEY(0x01) key_up: KEY_VOLUMEUP(0x0073)
44076.138469: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
```

Same "work-around" that is discussed at https://github.com/clontarfx
/kodi-rc6-mce-nolirc/issues/3 needs to be applied even in the wonky
state.

I'm too for only changing to copy the whole email with name and address.
All other headers can be copied with right click.

If someone, or the geek, wants to copy all headers he can open the
message with CTRL + u and then select what he want.

In TB 78 we use now the HTML progressmeter. I hope this helps a bit.
I tried the FX approach with using a SVG as throbber but I see on my system no
difference to the PNG throbber with 2% CPU.

For the throbber I could create a patch.

Strange that both together use the same CPU like when only one is
active.

Please could you try
```
.tab-throbber[busy] {
  list-style-image: none !important;
}
```
Then I can see if the animated PNG is the cause of the CPU usage.

It's not as simple as that; for example manufacturers like Samsung will
disclaim warranties after writing more than 75 TB for smaller disks. See
https://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/warranty.html

[Bug 1347305]

2014-11-01 Thread Richard Marti
This looks already promising.

I think -moz-mac-vibrancy-light is mostly used on sidebars, or not? It
makes the header part again different from content, which isn't the goal
of this bug. I think first we should do it without vibrancy.

Here some feedback:

- The header background color should be picked from the defined content
background color. This can be set in
Preferences/Display/Formatting/Colors.../Background
(editor.background_color). Else when a user changes this color the
header would differ in his background color. And unfortunately in HTML
compose mode, msgcompose.background_color needs to be checked. But this
could be a different kind because the user can change this color during
editing, and should we then also change the header background color?

- The aw-menulist is lacking a hint to be a menulist. A dropdown arrow
on the left should be shown as a minimum.

- The msgIdentity dropmarker is so far away on the right from the
address. What about including the From: label into the menulist and move
the dropmarker to the left directly above the aw-menulist dropmarker?

The two last notes can be reverted with bug 440377.

A tip: For selecting the text/border colors in the header you could also
use the toolbar[brighttext] ... selector to switch between dark and
light colors. Actually it's only used on Windows but it is working on
all platforms.

2014-08-07 Thread Marti
I installed all the binary packages from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/1.2.2-0ubuntu13.1.3 , then
enabled trusty-proposed repository and did a dist-upgrade from there,
then rebooted.

But still I am getting this error when trying to start a libvirt domain
using vfio:

error: internal error: Process exited prior to exec: libvirt: error :

[Bug 1349288] Re: Apache CVE-2014-0226 update broke mod_status ABI

2014-07-28 Thread Marti
Oh I see now why this didn't affect many other users: Ubuntu by default
restarts updated services immediately. I am using an /etc/policy-rc.d to
prevent restarts of critical services (like apache2) at unpredictable
times.

[Bug 1349288] [NEW] Apache CVE-2014-0226 update broke mod_status ABI

2014-07-28 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

On 2014-07-23, Ubuntu released a security update for Apache. Most of our
systems use unattended-upgrades and installed this update automatically.
On 2014-07-27, logrotate did its weekly rotation and issued the "reload"
command to Apache. Since the new mod_status.so was no longer ABI-
compatible with the running Apache, it died with an "undefined symbol"
error. This happened on 3 of our systems.

I guess the majority of Apache users are using logrotate too, so it's
too late to fix anything for them. But for some users, this may still be
a ticking time bomb. I hope the people responsible for the patching are
made aware of this mistake and will avoid similar ABI changes in the
future.

Sorry, I added a Debian bug reference, but somehow now it thinks the bug
is for "Dabo Application Framework for Python". I don't know what it
should be.

Because open source is all about freedom. The freedom to demand that other
people should do free work for you.

[Bug 1290271] [NEW] Spams cron errors when policyrcd-script-zg2 is installed

2014-03-10 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

On all 13.10 machines where I have atop and policyrcd-script-zg2
installed, they send emails every night:

  Subject: Cron  invoke-rc.d atop _cron

the same bug.

[Bug 1278875] [NEW] XFS filesystem created with 4k sectors by installer on LSI SAS RAID

2014-02-11 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 13.10 Server on a server (Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX300
S8) with the LSI SAS 2008 RAID controller (Fujitsu D2607) and
configuring it to use the XFS filesystem, the FS is created with sector
size set to 4 kilobytes. The installer should respect the sector size of
the underlying hardware.

XFS refuses O_DIRECT accesses that are not a multiple of the configured
sector size, breaking assumptions made in some software that uses
O_DIRECT, such as libvirt disks using cache=none, and the the PostgreSQL
pg_test_fsync utility (didn't try running Postgres with open_sync):
http://www.postgresql.org/message-id/CABRT9RBkfUPjemsA-
jhQ=me0tclggnk6ffywkanw+xgbykg...@mail.gmail.com

Partition after installation:
# xfs_info /dev/sda1
meta-data=/dev/disk/by-uuid/987c0579-bd67-4f80-bbc6-50f975ee4c1d
isize=256agcount=16, agsize=4341104 blks
 =   sectsz=4096  attr=2
[...]

Yet kernel knows that the underlying storage has 512-byte sectors:
# cat /sys/block/sda/queue/logical_block_size
512
# cat /sys/block/sda/queue/physical_block_size
512

Even a new fresh filesystem created with mkfs.xfs defaults uses 512B sectors:
# mkfs.xfs /dev/sda5
meta-data=/dev/sda5  isize=256agcount=4, agsize=489856 blks
 =   sectsz=512   attr=2, projid32bit=0
[...]   ^^^

This can be reproduced by manually specifying sector size:
mkfs.xfs -s size=4096

# lspci |grep -i raid
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008
[Falcon] (rev 03)

After re-creating my root partition with XFS defaults, the issues are no
longer occurring.

[Bug 1093665] [NEW] 'next' button icon points up

2012-12-25 Thread Richard Marti
Public bug reported:

See also https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=801514

The 'next' button icon point up like the 'previous' icon when in Small
Icon mode. This happens only on Ubuntu. I wrote in BMO to Chris Coulson
but until now received no answer.

I'll add a patch I also made in BMO. This patch is only against from TB
17's extracted primaryToolbar.css and not against your repository.

[Bug 567480]

2012-11-06 Thread Othmar Marti
I get multiple requests for the master password
- Thunderbird 16.02
- Lightning 1.8
- SOGo-Connector 10.0.3
- Windows 7

It looks as if there is a pop-up for every mail-account. If I type in
the master password on the i.e. third pop-up, only the mail in the third
account and above are fetched. If I close all the additional pop-ups
until the first one (the one hidden behind the main window, see below)
then everything works as expected.

Another annoying behavior is that the first pop-up window is at the
bottom of the window stack, even behind the main window. I would like it
to be the top-most.

In my opinion, the original bug might be solved, but there is another
popping up ;-)

Othmar

[Bug 1073082] [NEW] Login always warns about fsck, but doesn't actually fsck on reboot

2012-10-30 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my Amazon VM to Ubuntu 12.04, every time I log in I get the
following warning:
*** /dev/xvda1 will be checked for errors at next reboot ***

Normally this warning should go away when rebooting with the "reboot"
command -- the FS should be checked at next startup as explained by the
warning. But this doesn't seem to happen when I reboot my VM.

[Bug 1073077] [NEW] zsh complains about locale_warn on launch

2012-10-30 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my Amazon machine to Ubuntu 12.04, every time I run zsh I get
the following output:
locale_warn:13: * not found

Apparenlty this is caused by the file /etc/profile.d/Z99-cloud-locale-

glob like * fails to match any files.

[Bug 1053911] Re: libguestfs-tools shouldn't have hard dependency on zfs-fuse daemon

2012-09-21 Thread Marti
To be clear, I don't even know what all the fuss about
appliances/supermin/febootstrap is.

I just want virt-sparsify to compact my libvirt ext4 disk images. Would
be nice if I could do that without all these dependencies.

[Bug 1053911] [NEW] libguestfs-tools shouldn't have hard dependency on zfs-fuse daemon

2012-09-21 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

As it stands, libguestfs-tools has hard dependency on lots of file system tools:
% sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends libguestfs-tools
[...]
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  augeas-lenses btrfs-tools cryptsetup febootstrap jfsutils libaugeas0
libconfig8 libguestfs-perl libguestfs-tools
  libguestfs0 libhivex0 libintl-perl libstring-shellquote-perl libsys-virt-perl
libwin-hivex-perl libxml-xpath-perl
  ntfsprogs scrub zerofree zfs-fuse

However, as far as I can tell, these are technically recommended
dependencies -- libguestfs just doesn't support certain file systems if
the relevant package is not installed.

The most annoying of these is zfs-fuse, which insists on starting a
hefty daemon by default -- even though most people in a Linux
environment don't want to deal with ZFS file systems. zfs-fuse doesn't
even provide any libraries, so it doesn't make sense as a hard
dependency.

** Tags added: apport-collected precise

** Description changed:

  When tracking down performance problems in a GStreamer app, I noticed
  that the "perf top" command cannot resolve symbols in most GStreamer
  plugins, even though the debug packages are installed. Whereas gdb has
  no problem finding the symbols.

  % sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends linux-tools
gstreamer0.10-tools gstreamer0.10-plugins-good
  % sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends libc6-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg
libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-dbg

  Launch pipeline:
  % gst-launch-0.10 filesrc location=/dev/zero \! audio/x-raw-int, rate=8000,
channels=1 \! alawenc \! fakesink
  And then monitor with perf in another terminal:
  % sudo perf top

  The status bar displays:
no symbols found in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstalaw.so,
maybe install a debug package?

  However, gdb can successfully find the symbols for this library:

[Bug 1039998] [NEW] perf top (linux-tools) cannot find debug info for some gstreamer plugins

2012-08-22 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

When tracking down performance problems in a GStreamer app, I noticed
that the "perf top" command cannot resolve symbols in most GStreamer
plugins, even though the debug packages are installed. Whereas gdb has
no problem finding the symbols.

% sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends linux-tools gstreamer0.10-tools
gstreamer0.10-plugins-good
% sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends libc6-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg
libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-dbg

Launch pipeline:
% gst-launch-0.10 filesrc location=/dev/zero \! audio/x-raw-int, rate=8000,
channels=1 \! alawenc \! fakesink
And then monitor with perf in another terminal:
% sudo perf top

The status bar displays:
  no symbols found in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstalaw.so,
maybe install a debug package?

However, gdb can successfully find the symbols for this library:

% gdb /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstalaw.so
[...]
Reading symbols from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstalaw.so...Reading symbols from
/usr/lib/debug/.build-id/34/5c9aa83c5e63082d994b6cc1436a561abdeb32.debug...done.
(gdb) break gst_alaw_enc_getcaps
Breakpoint 1 at 0x1860: file alaw-encode.c, line 301.

[Bug 985462] Re: Ubuntu Estonian mirror broken (again!)

Kajar, just run this command to switch all sources to Finnish:

sudo sed -i 's/ee\.archive\.ubuntu\.com/fi.archive.ubuntu.com/'
/etc/apt/sources.list

Maybe there's a better way, but that works for me.

2012-04-23 Thread Marti
I installed a Ubuntu Server 12.04 amd64 today and by default it chose
the ee.archive.ubuntu.com mirror out of the box -- presumably because I
told its location was Estonia. I have no idea where these are
configured, but the problem still exists in Precise.

[Bug 985462] [NEW] Ubuntu Estonian mirror broken (again!)

2012-04-19 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

The ee.archive.ubuntu.com Estonian Ubuntu mirror is broken again. Last
time this happened, the mirror was offline for over 1 week. Someone
either needs to put pressure on ftp.estpak.ee to keep the mirror stable,
or remove the mirror from the installer mirror selection.

[Bug 545966] Re: [util-linux] cfdisk cannot read 1MiB-aligned partition tables

2010-10-18 Thread Marti
I have updated the summary because 1MiB-aligning partitions is the
*intended* behavior. cfdisk is at fault here -- it fails with partitions
created by recent Windows releases as well as newer Linux partitioning
tools.

The statuses on partman-base/ubiquity should be marked as invalid as far
as I can tell.

[Bug 574665] Re: kvm + virtio disk corrupts large volumes (>1TB).

2010-09-08 Thread Marti
@Kendall: I wouldn't be surprised, there have been lots of disk corruption bugs
in the 0.12 series and the qemu-kvm project obviously has problems with project
management (bug reports being ignored, poor QA etc).
Anyway, see:
http://www.linux-kvm.com/content/qemu-kvm-0125-released-bugfixes
http://www.linux-kvm.com/content/qemu-kvm-0124-released

This is the reason why I've postponed the upgrade of my VM servers from
Karmic until now. Hopefully 0.12.5 has fixed all of the block device
corruption bugs.

So if cfdisk cannot read a partition table that's 1MiB-aligned, then
surely it's a cfdisk bug, not the installer?

This also explains why cfdisk fails with disks formatted in Windows

[Bug 572095] [NEW] apt-cacher-ng leaks file descriptors: Too many open files

2010-04-30 Thread Marti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt-cacher-ng

Every time I do an "apt-get update" behind the apt-cacher-ng proxy
(package version 0.4-1), the proxy seems to leak 6 file descriptors. At
this rate it runs out of file descriptors pretty quickly and eventually
fails to service connections. It doesn't, however, consume 100% CPU on
my computer as described in the Debian bug.

At first apt-get starts printing HTTP errors like:
* 503  Cache storage error
* 503 Cache storage error while opening data file
* 500 Connection failure: Too many open files
and eventually just freezes up with "[Waiting for headers]"

apt-cacher was running fine for a week with ~10 servers, but now it
keeps crashing repeatedly. After restarting it works fine until it hits
the limit again. The cache server is running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic inside a
KVM virtual machine.

I tried with "apt-get update" from localhost (Karmic) and another Lucid
machine, over both IPv4 and IPv6.

In /proc/PID/fd descriptors 5-1023 are all sockets. Netstat shows some
connections to 127.0.0.1:3142 and to Ubuntu archives in various closing
states.

I obtained the strace using:
sudo -u apt-cacher-ng strace -f apt-cacher-ng 2>apt-cacher-ng.strace
while true; do apt-get update; done

[Bug 568926] Re: Missing udisks-tcp-bridge binary for remote management

2010-04-29 Thread Marti
Thanks.

Any chance of creating a separate optional package for udisks-tcp-
bridge? Maybe in a PPA?
