[Bug 2061239] Re: After logging out and back in, X recognises a non-existent screen
I just found out that this happens only after I log out of gnome and back in again, or if I reset the X server using control+alt+backspace. After a full restart, the system behaves normally. gnome settings still show the non-existent screen, but the mouse pointer cannot wander into its "territory", and apps behave normally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061239 Title: After logging out and back in, X recognises a non-existent screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x11-xserver-utils/+bug/2061239/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2061239] [NEW] X recognises a non-existent screen
Public bug reported: I have one monitor only. However, x11 recognises two screens, and places one of them to the right of my real screen. This causes several issues: I can "lose" my mouse pointer at the right hand side of my real screen. Some apps start on the non-existent screen, and it is hard or impossible (in case of some steam games) to pull them out to my real screen. Gnome settings shows the two screens, my real screen first and the non-existent one second, but does not let me fiddle with the settings of the second one. [Bug 1966613] [NEW] Navigating with arrow keys broken for RTL text
Public bug reported: RTL text renders fine, and navigating within a line with the arrow keys works as expected. However, using the left and right arrow keys to move to the next or previous lines is broken. To reproduce: 1. Open gnome-text-editor and paste the following into its window: זוהי השורה הראשונה זוהי השורה השנייה זוהי השורה השלישית make sure it is aligned to the right, as it should. 2. place the caret in the middle of the 2nd line. 3. With the arrows, move the caret to the left of the line (its end). 4. Press the left arrow key one more time. Expected results: 1. The caret moves to the right hand side of the next line. Actual results: 1. The caret moves to the left hand side of the previous line. The same issue exists in reverse: if you move the caret with the arrow keys to the right of the line (its beginning) and press the right arrow key one more time, it will move to the right hand side of the next line instead of the left hand side of the previous line, as it should. This make navigation in RTL files highly uncomfortable. [Bug 1918014] [NEW] Switching application keyboard shortcuts not working
Public bug reported: After last updates, Alt+Tab no lonnger moves between all open applications. It only switches between the two last focused windows without loading the switching overlay. Super+Tab behaves the same way. My keyboard settings are reset to default, and they behave strangely: 1. "Alt+tab" is not there at all. 2. Switch Windows is "Super+;", Switch Applications is "Super+Tab". 3. Super+Tab works just like Alt+Tab, i.e. switches between the last two focued windows. 4. When I try to set Switch Windows to "Alt+Tab" it complains that it is already in use for Switch Applications, although it does not say so in the settings 5. When I try to set "Switch Applications" to be "Alt+Tab", this shortcut still only moves between two last focused apps. This is what I get from gsettings: ~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-applications ['Tab', 'Tab'] ~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-windows @as [] So now I have no way of moving between more than 2 applications using the keyboard. [Bug 1909599] [NEW] LibreOffice fails to fully resume focus with alt+tab
Public bug reported: Using updated focal, with nvidia proprietary driver, rtl (Hebrew) interface, all gnome-shell extensions disabled. When navigating to an open copy of LibreOffice with Alt+Tab, the application window receives focus, but fails to reflect user input. The carret is not shown, typed characters are not shown, clicking menus does not show response, etc. In order to resolve this I have to use Alt+Tab to navigate away to another app and back to LibreOffice. [Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04
I think that we have here a derious regression no matter what we choose to do, because non-latin hotkeys were usable in previous versions of Gnome. But I also think that users of apps like Eclipse and JetBrains are programmers who rarely have to use non-latin languages, while users of LibreOffice use these languages all the time and are more dependant on them. Still, I hope this problem grabs someone's attention. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212025 Title: Upgrading to Saucy crashes with a unicode error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1212025/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1212025] Re: Upgrading to Saucy crashes with a unicode error
The crash still occurs after deleting all the files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and restarting. I guess that somehow, one of the automatic system tools inserted a translated Hebrew string somewhere and the current upgrader can't handle it.

[Bug 1155797] [NEW] Synaptic UI is broken for RTL locale
Public bug reported: Using Synaptic with an RTL UI (Hebrew in my case) yields the following problems: 1. Not all columns are seen. The column showing weather the package is installed or not is invisible (see screenshot). 2. When trying to re-size columns by dragging their border with the mouse, they move at the opposite direction. Dragging to the left actually drags the border to the right. 3~. I am not sure if this is related, but there is one package with residual config which is invisible in Hebrew UI. When clicking on the white space where this mysterious package should be listed, synaptic crashes with the message: (synaptic:24475): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/yotam/.config/ibus/bus is not root! [Bug 1045914] Re: Keyboard layout doesn't show in GNOME Shell session
I can confirm that the PPA brings the layout indicator back. However, it brings a new problem. Now it is much more difficult to set a keyboard shortcut for changing layouts. In the Typing section of the keyboard shortcuts I am not able to set the "next engine" to be a combination of shifts and/or alts (it will just not record them), and if I choose the Menu key it is set but does not work (it is intercapted as "right-click key" and is not recognised as a shortcut). This section is willing to accept only combinations containing letters - but letters are the very things that change when the layout changes! The only reliable way I found to change layouts with the keyboard was to assign one of the F# keys as a shortcut. This works no matter what is the current keyboard layout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045914 Title: Keyboard layout doesn't show in GNOME Shell session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1045914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1044856] [NEW] Regression: gnome-shell notifications are broken in RTL UI
Public bug reported: After upgrading from precise, gnome-shell notifications are not displayed properly in RTL user interface (such as Hebrew). When they are sent, an "info" icon appears in the mid-bottom edge of the screen, but the notification itself is not shown. When accessed later from the lower left corner of the screen, a short, almost vertical and empty "bubble" is shown, but the message text (and icon) is not shown in it. To test this: 1. Login into gnome-shell using an RTL ui (Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, etc.). 2. Type in terminal: notify-send "This is a test message". See attached screenshots. Note how the message cannot be read. This means that this bug belongs in nvidia-current package, BTW, this bug also prevents every wine game from loading. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => nvidia-drivers-ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/852873 Title: GLX is broken for several commercial OpenGL games To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/852873/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 852873] [NEW] GLX is broken for several commercial OpenGL games
Public bug reported: After updates which took place during the last several days, several OpenGL commercial games stopped recognising GLX and would not load. This happens on gnome-shell and unity, with nvidia-current and nvidia 173. Lugaru says: SDL_SetVideoMode() failed: Couldn't find matching GLX visual forcing 640x480... Atom Zombie Smasher says: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 8 (X_MapWindow) Resource id in failed request: 0x0 Serial number of failed request: 32 Current serial number in output stream: 34 X-Plane says: Whoah -- no matter how hard I tried, I failed to get a GLX visual. [Bug 852021] [NEW] I should be able to define specific dictionaries within a server for use in gnome-dictionary
Public bug reported: The default server of gnome-dictionary offers no less than ~70 dictionaries. It always brings results from all of them. This takes a lot of time. I cannot even control the order of results, so I have to search for a simple, useful definition in a lengthy page instead of just having a handy dictionary. See the attached image for a taste of the ridiculous current situation. I need a way to tell dictionary which dictionaries to use (and, of course, it should remember it). [Bug 841434] Re: Libreoffice writer marks all saved documents as in need of recovery for no apparent reason
No crash reports are created. This happened at least five times today (it s less frequent when Java is not enabled), but the only libreoffice related crash reports in /var/crash/ are from several days ago when I forced a shutdown. Crashes keep happening even after I delete ~/.libreoffice. It seems that libreoffice believes it has crashed while it was not. Are there any more logs I can supply? ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841434 Title: Libreoffice writer marks all saved documents as in need of recovery for no apparent reason To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/841434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 841434] Re: Libreoffice writer corrupts documents with Java enabled
Now libreoffice started marking documents as "in need of recovery" even with Java disabled. Deleting ~/.libreoffice did not help. Opening a document, inserting a space, saving, exiting and restarting libreoffice yields the recovery announcement. Cancelling the recovery does it have any visible effect on the document. ** Summary changed: - Libreoffice writer corrupts documents with Java enabled + Libreoffice writer marks all saved documents as in need of recovery for no apparent reason -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841434 Title: Libreoffice writer marks all saved documents as in need of recovery for no apparent reason To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/841434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
