Hello Everybody,

Just end to migrate from 12.10 to 13.04. And i've noticed that the issue
i've reported is still present ... and not yet resolved.

Less often than it used to be but still happens sometimes.

Sorry Christopher i've ain't see your last message until today. Yes I've
update my bios to the latest (no bios update since august 2010). But as
i've said before, the problem happens when i've migrate from 12.04 to
12.10.

[Bug 1069269] Re: 168c:002b Wifi disconnects and can't reconnect until reboot, no wifi problem under 12.04

2012-12-25 Thread Joel Chav
Hello everybody,

Since kernel-ppa i've no longer need to reboot my computer to activate
wifi, only thing needed is to deactivate and reactivate wifi.

That's an improvement (for me), no longer need to connect an ethernet
cable while wifi disconnects ...

About rfkill, it seems there is no soft / hard lock on wifi while it
disconnects.

joe@Mediacenter:~$ uptime
 23:13:53 up 1 day, 4:12, 2 users, load average: 1,47, 1,38, 1,18

UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I've install the new kernel, il will try it soon, and give an update
about that issue.

Thanks again.

Sorry,

This PPA release does not fix that bug for me.

I've found on ubuntuforums.org a way to track why wifi is stuck (it
seems to be solved for some users at least) :

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1962191

Today i've succeed to reconnect wifi

joe@Mediacenter:~$ rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

next time i will try again while it disconnects for seeing if i've got
an clue to fix that issue.

Thanks again.

Hello. I think I am affected by this bug too. My wifi just disconnected
with no reason, and then I saw the networks but I could not reconnect,
it kepts asking me the wifi passwords..

Whenever I suspend my laptop to RAM, I am nearby assured I won't get a
working wifi chipset at the wake up. This bug's been here for like a
year for me. Only recently did it start to disconnect on normal user
sessions.

[Bug 1069269] Re: 168c:002b Wifi disconnects and can't reconnect until reboot, no wifi problem under 12.04

2012-12-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Joel Chav, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the
mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the
bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel
version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel,
please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.7-rc8

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

2012-10-24 Thread Joel Chav
Hi,

About bios updates, everything is up to date.
Wifi network is secured (WPA2-PSK AES only).
No MAC Filtering.
Firewall is active from the setup of my wireless router.
cant access beacon interval on my router.
No tweaking on my wireless router since i've installed Ubuntu 12.04, a few
months ago.
Distance is less than a meter
Wifi N 150
All other devices connected (Windows computers, tablets, laptops) did not
experience disconnecting.

about wireless hardware in my computer : (lspci -v)

Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
Subsystem: Atheros Communications Inc. Device 30a1

Memory at fe9f (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]

I've been using before wireless connection a least a year before this
