[Bug 550040] Re: Don't work CPU fan cooling at TOSHIBA satellite U505-S2925BN in the Ubuntu 10.04 beta1
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Visibility changed to: Public ** This bug is no longer flagged as a security vulnerability -- Don't work CPU fan cooling at TOSHIBA satellite U505-S2925BN in the Ubuntu 10.04 beta1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550040 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 543042] Re: pressing CANCEL in policykit super user mount dialog shows silly error message
Martin: I guess you can simply run 'sudo killall polkitd', and it will forget your authentication. One would have to check whether gvfs actually redirects POLKIT_ERROR_CANCELLED to G_IO_ERROR_CANCELLED, and if so, then add it to the ignore case in Nautilus. Or simply add that condition in Nautilus, and see if it works! If it's not the case, it would be worth considering canceled authentication as G_IO_ERROR_FAILED_HANDLED, which seems to be intended for this case. -- pressing CANCEL in policykit super user mount dialog shows silly error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/543042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 535417] Re: mdadm monitor feature broken, not depending on local MTA/MDA or using wall/notify-send
** Description changed: Binary package hint: mdadm Anybody who cares about redundancy to use mdadm probably cares enough about redundancy to want being informed if redundancy is degraded. Debian systems do have at least local mail enabled and package mdadm asks for a mail address to notify during mdadm install. By default ubuntu system support no local mail and mdadm package was patched to suppress the debconf email question, without setting up mdadm --monitor to use wall or notify-send as an alternative. As informing a human is a serious data protection topic mdadm should depend on a package providing at least local mail services and/or use wall/notify-send to get the message out. + + --- + + The monitoring facility of mdadm is very important to get notice if + somthing goes wrong with your raid. + + So you can replace disks etc. ahead of a total failure. + + To send out notifications mdadm needs a sendmail command (MTA mail + transport agent ). + + To deliver mail localy you need a mail delivery agent (MDA) + + Things like exim, postfix open network ports and are large and not easy + to configure, but of course provide the sendmail command and delivery. + + If none of the large MTAs is installed, yes mdadm should pull in a + replacement like esmtp + procmail but no postfix on desktops. -- mdadm monitor feature broken, not depending on local MTA/MDA or using wall/notify-send https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/535417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Evolution wouldn´t send or receive mail.
--- The monitoring facility of mdadm is very important to get notice if somthing goes wrong with your raid. So you can replace disks etc. ahead of a total failure. To send out notifications mdadm needs a sendmail command (MTA mail transport agent ). [Bug 550910] [NEW] Latest update makes fonts unreadable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: netbook-launcher I am using lucid-beta-1, with all updates, on an Acer Aspire One netbook. The netbook-launcher fonts have become white blocks after the last update. Up until that point they looked great. The blocks are different sizes, according to the character, but not even close to readable. Each character is just a single white rectangle, approximately the size of the letter. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p alsa-base 471867 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. [Bug 548924] Re: aufs broken in ti-omap kernel
This[1] is not an oops, but a BUG_ON() called on purpose inside the aufs code. The function follows: static int do_open_nondir(struct file *file, int flags) { int err; aufs_bindex_t bindex; struct file *h_file; struct dentry *dentry; struct au_finfo *finfo; FiMustWriteLock(file); err = 0; dentry = file-f_dentry; finfo = au_fi(file); finfo-fi_h_vm_ops = NULL; finfo-fi_vm_ops = NULL; bindex = au_dbstart(dentry); /* O_TRUNC is processed already */ BUG_ON(au_test_ro(dentry-d_sb, bindex, dentry-d_inode) (flags O_TRUNC)); h_file = au_h_open(dentry, bindex, flags, file); if (IS_ERR(h_file)) err = PTR_ERR(h_file); else { au_set_fbstart(file, bindex); au_set_fbend(file, bindex); au_set_h_fptr(file, bindex, h_file); au_update_figen(file); /* todo: necessary? */ /* file-f_ra = h_file-f_ra; */ } return err; } From the fragment, triggering the BUG_ON(), it seems to check if the aufs file/branch is readonly and if a truncate flag is set on the file.
