In this time, I have experienced completely random freezes on almost a daily basis. They are completely unpredictable. I have experienced crashes while browsing, playing music, working on office stuff and while I am not at the computer. I've reinstalled once and updated the kernel multiple times. I have Ubuntu installed on a laptop as well, it does not have this issue. I'm not a very experienced user, but I'll gladly perform any troubleshooting with instruction. [Bug 662213] [NEW] vmbuilder uses the locale from the host
Public bug reported: When creating a new virtual machine through vmbuilder, the locale from the host is used. But in many times, this is not desirable, because the machines created will be headless server instances in which using English as the default language is the norm (many server script who depend on command output expect this). The desktop however is a different case because most people do want a desktop in the native language. I'm Dutch my self, so my desktop is in Dutch, but al my server appliances are in English. There are many work-a-rounds: - change the desktop language (temporarely) to English - change the locale: sudo /bin/sh -c 'echo LANG=en_US.UTF-8 /etc/default/locale' sudo apt-get install language-pack-en but what I like to see in English as the default language for vmbuilder and not depending from the language (local) on the host. For people who do want a different language then English, a new option in vmbuilder could be appropriate. ** Affects: vm-builder (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- vmbuilder uses the locale from the host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662213 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 662212] [NEW] sends job to printer, activates printer, no printing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups I am printing to a Sharp AR-207 Digital copier. Printing on 9.10 works with no problems. When trying out the 10.4.1 and 10.10 CDs I might be able to print on about 1 out of every 10 reboots (installing the sharp driver each time). I have now installed 10.10 dual booting with 9.10. When it doesn't print I go into Printing and click on the printer icon, change the make and model to generic pcl6/pcl xl printer. Then print a test page. 14 paper comes out with test off center. Not usable, but it prints. I then go back and change to the correct printer driver using the new ppd option. [Bug 273535] Re: bluetooth always enabled since 2.6.27
I've got a IBM ThinkPad/Lenovo T61 which is running Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook and whenever I turn it on Bluetooth is always enabled, this has always been the case with previous versions. I would also ideally have it remember the previous state upon startup rather than it be fixed on/off. I have in the past added a hciconfig line to rc.local to have it disable bluetooth upon startup but this is not a great solution. [Bug 650665] Re: no default ALSA-device
** Description changed: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx + Bug still exists in Ubuntu 10.10 cx88_alsa, usb-audio I use an USB-audio-interface and a cx88-TV-card. Out of the box sound doesn't work with many applications like vlc or zapping because there is no alsa-default-device specified. No sound can be heared. (Other applications, totem for instance, work.) Some applications throw errors not finding a mixer device. For example alsamixer does so if started without a command-line-parameter specifying the device. The reason can be found in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf The following section is to blame: # Prevent abnormal drivers from grabbing index 0 options bt87x index=-2 options cx88_alsa index=-2 options saa7134-alsa index=-2 options snd-atiixp-modem index=-2 options snd-intel8x0m index=-2 options snd-via82xx-modem index=-2 options snd-usb-audio index=-2 options snd-usb-us122l index=-2 options snd-usb-usx2y index=-2 options snd-usb-caiaq index=-2 If there are only those abnormal drivers in use alsa starts counting the devices by 1 instead of zero. Therefore there is no ALSA-default-device causing the mentioned problems. Workaround: Uncomment the appropriate line.
