This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 3.10.0.1-0ubuntu1 --- gdm (3.10.0.1-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=medium * New Upstream Release (LP: #1269981) * debian/rules: - remove obsolete --with-incomplete-locales configure option - enable parallel builds * debian/patches/08_frequent-users_greeter.patch: Dropped, gnome-shell generates the greeter list by directly querying accountsservice, so this patch now achieves nothing * debian/control.in: Drop depends on dbus-glib, pango, fontconfig, upower, nss * debian/patches/93_private_lib.patch: Refreshed * Move schema file to libgdm - gnome-shell requires direct access to this now. * Merge some changes from Debian - debian/rules: + Also drop gdm-simple-greeter.desktop, simple-greeter is definitely gone + List non-installed files + Append --libdir=\$${prefix}/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH) to DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS - debian/control.in: + Drop Depends on policykit-1-gnome, with the gdm-fallback session gone, this dependency is no longer required. + Make build depend on debhelper (= 8.1.3) and cdbs (= 0.4.93~) and add Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends} to shared libs packages to support Multi-Arch + Split libgdm adding a libgdm-dev package + Rename libgdm to libgdm1 and update the package description + Add a gir1.2-gdm3 package for GObject introspection data - debian/patches: + Drop 93_private_lib.patch. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. [Bug 1270327] [NEW] Large transfers to/from Android phone via mtpfs lock X.
Public bug reported: If I wasn't experiencing it, I wouldn't believe this one. Basically, every time I do a multi-GB copy to/from my Nexus 4 using mtpfs (either on the console, or via Nautilus), X locks until the transfer completes. The only thing that stays working is the mouse cursor, everything else freezes completely for the duration of the transfer. As soon as it moves to processing the next file, it unlocks for a few seconds, and then locks up again. If it's many small files, it stays working correctly. It's baffling, as I can't see how FUSE could affect X like this, especially when the behaviour occurs by running copies from mtpfs on the CLI in screen with no access to the X server. [Bug 1269992] Re: 2.02~beta2 requires manual testing
Elfy (#5): Thanks for your report. We run across this pattern with every substantial enough change to GRUB. It's not actually a problem with the new upstream per se - it points to a misconfiguration in how GRUB is installed, and unfortunately we've never quite tracked down the root cause. However, I bet you'll find that if you run sudo debconf- show grub-pc you'll find that grub-pc/install_devices is set to something that doesn't include the device you're actually booting from (and please do tell us the current value). You can fix this by using sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc and telling it to install to the master boot record of every disk in your system (it may be possible to get by with less, but this is generally a reasonable approach). Edwin (#6): Thanks for your report. Timeout handling has changed around a bit recently, and not all the packaging is quite up to date yet (the transition is a bit tricky). You might like to review: info -f grub -n 'Simple configuration' ... to see how to adjust your configuration. If it still doesn't work, then do attach your /etc/default/grub so I can see what might be going on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1269992 Title: 2.02~beta2 requires manual testing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1269992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1265983] Re: php5 cli one instance/process limit
I appreciate everyone trying to help. I do know the difference between the two, but your updated example still does not work. It will still freeze the current script until the former script finishes. The problem appears to be in with php-cli and how it is using the exec function. I don't expect the devs to fix an bug that exist in php-cli, but so far this bug only exist in Ubuntu and not any other distro that I have tested (arch, redhat, centos, mandriva, mageia, fedora, gentoo, slackware, mint, debian, opensuse, amazon linux,). Yes, I have tested all of those, across many difference versions and arch (32 and 64 bit) The issue has never up until now, but only because others were reporting the issue to me. So it works in all of those and not in Ubuntu; what is different in Ubuntu? Again, thanks for all the time and help. The code that caused the installation problem was in the module el-get.el. The xemacs21 installation completed successfully, and xemacs21 and xemacs21-nomule configured correctly, with this program not installed. On 1/5/14, John Bandy jbandy1...@gmail.com wrote: After having problems with the xemacs21 install through Synaptic and apt-get, I downloaded a package from xemacs.com. The installation was not successful, with the installation script crashing with a message that the compiler is broken, returning a value of 0 for the size of a short (integer). I checked gcc, and it returned 2 as sizeof(short), which is correct. Further checking showed that the package requires an older version of autoconf (2.13) than what Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installs by default (autoconf 2.68). Although Synaptic installed xemacs21 with errors configuring ...-mule and ...-nomule, it is an older package with outdated internet support and it generates error messages at times when executing some elisp code. The other version of emacs available in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, emacs version 23, seems to be more up-to-date and work with fewer problems. Re: [Bug 574563] Re: Rhythmbox's track progress bar doesn't work
Hi Jon, Do you need any of my comments here? Regards, Ashish Verma Sent from my nexus On Jan 18, 2014 9:16 AM, Jon Elofson jon.elof...@gmail.com wrote: In 13.10, I find this only happens with music that is stored on my NAS, mounted locally at /media/whatever -- You received this bug notification because you are a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574563 Title: Rhythmbox's track progress bar doesn't work Status in “gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When playing most songs in Rhythmbox, the track progress bar doesn't move. It stays at the beginning and cannot be dragged to seek either. The current play time at the top-right displays correctly though, and Rhythmbox does advance to the next song when the current one is complete. I have noticed that the songs for which the progress bar doesn't work all have Unknown for their Time column in the library. The songs for which the progress bar _does_ work show their correct time there. So obviously that's the root problem. This bug is the same as bugs 442304, 459571, 499708, but I have been directed to open a new one. The workaround described on bug 499708 did not work for me. Removing all songs from the library and then re- importing them doesn't fix the problem of the Time column being Unknown for most songs. FYI, I observed this problem back in Karmic too. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
