@Sergio, if you can easily reproduce this issue, can you ensure
G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all is set in the environment, and attach the resulting
~/.cache/unity-scope-click.log file here, when this happens?

[Bug 1256961] Re: new glib (2.39.1) causes some indicators nautilus to not load promptly

2014-01-17 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Another workaround is to change X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase from Panel to
Applications:
1) sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/gnome-panel.desktop
2) Locate line - X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Panel
3) Comment it out by adding # in front of that line or change Panel to
Applications

[Bug 1269916] Re: Update Mutter and gnome-shell to 3.10

2014-01-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-shell - 3.10.3-0ubuntu1

---
gnome-shell (3.10.3-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (LP: #1269916)
  * Merge from Debian, remaining changes:
- debian/control.in:
+ Recommend gdm instead of gdm3
+ Add Recommends on network-manager since this
is required for network panel to work. (LP: #1225787)
- debian/patches/revert-notification-settings-link.patch:
+ Don't link to Notification Settings since that's only available
with gnome-control-center = 3.8.
- debian/patches/40_change-pam-name-to-match-gdm.patch:
+ Disabled not needed on Ubuntu
- debian/patches/revert-disable-periodic-gc.patch:
+ This is safe to re-enable with mozjs17
- debian/patches/ubuntu-lightdm-user-switching.patch:
+ Allow user switching when using LightDM.
Rebased for 3.10 Usermenu changes (thanks Parin)
- debian/patches/ubuntu_lock_on_suspend.patch
  + Respect Ubuntu's lock-on-suspend setting.
Rebased for 3.10 Usermenu changes (thanks Parin)
- source_gnome_shell.py: Now we have upstart user sessions most
logging goes into the gnome-session.log, so add this to the
  apport hook.
  * debian/patches:
- revert_new_bluetooth.patch: revert changes requiring Bluez5
- revert_new_brightness_widget.patch: In its current
form this requires gnome-settings-daemon 3.10. If trusty ends up
on g-s-d 3.8, then this should be backported to the old API
- revert-shelldbus-export-timestamps.patch: Revert
api change to fix keyboard shortcuts, this can be dropped when
  g-s-d gets updated to 3.10

[Bug 1269981] Re: new upstream release 3.10

2014-01-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 3.10.0.1-0ubuntu1

---
gdm (3.10.0.1-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * New Upstream Release (LP: #1269981)
  * debian/rules:
- remove obsolete --with-incomplete-locales configure option
- enable parallel builds
  * debian/patches/08_frequent-users_greeter.patch: Dropped, gnome-shell
generates
the greeter list by directly querying accountsservice, so this patch now
achieves nothing
  * debian/control.in: Drop depends on dbus-glib, pango, fontconfig, upower, nss
  * debian/patches/93_private_lib.patch: Refreshed
  * Move schema file to libgdm
- gnome-shell requires direct access to this now.
  * Merge some changes from Debian
- debian/rules:
  + Also drop gdm-simple-greeter.desktop, simple-greeter is
definitely gone
  + List non-installed files
  + Append --libdir=\$${prefix}/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH) to
DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS
- debian/control.in:
+ Drop Depends on policykit-1-gnome, with the gdm-fallback session gone,
this dependency is no longer required.
+ Make build depend on debhelper (= 8.1.3) and cdbs (= 0.4.93~) and
add Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends} to shared libs packages to
support Multi-Arch
  + Split libgdm adding a libgdm-dev package
+ Rename libgdm to libgdm1 and update the package description
+ Add a gir1.2-gdm3 package for GObject introspection data
- debian/patches:
+ Drop 93_private_lib.patch. Don't install the shared library
in a private directory.
- debian/gdm.lintian-overrides:
  + Drop gdm: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath
usr/lib/gdm/gdm-simple-chooser /usr/lib/gdm since the gdm libraries
are not private anymore.
- debian/gdm.dirs: Drop usr/share/gdm/greeter-settings/, not needed anymore
  since 3.4.1-1
- debian/gdm.install: Install the files debian overrides as the last ones
so we don't accidentally include upstream versions.
- Apply patch from Paul Wise to avoid userdel error messages
from being used as input for debconf if gdm3 is purged while
processes are still running as Debian-gdm (Closes: #657751)
  [ Rico Tzschichholz ]
  * debian/rules:
- Drop authdir references

[Bug 1154867] Re: [Sony VAIO VPCF119HX] suspend/resume failure non-free: nvidia

2014-01-17 Thread Adam Colligan
The problem has occurred in various forms since I started using Ubuntu
during Precise. There was a brief period in which it did work correctly;
I think that may have been during the Raring cycle. So technically it
may be a regression, but it isn't a new one, and I don't think I can
pinpoint the window in which it worked on this machine.

[Bug 1270276] Re: trying to install

2014-01-17 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1270327] [NEW] Large transfers to/from Android phone via mtpfs lock X.

2014-01-17 Thread Graeme
Public bug reported:

If I wasn't experiencing it, I wouldn't believe this one. Basically,
every time I do a multi-GB copy to/from my Nexus 4 using mtpfs (either
on the console, or via Nautilus), X locks until the transfer completes.
The only thing that stays working is the mouse cursor, everything else
freezes completely for the duration of the transfer. As soon as it moves
to processing the next file, it unlocks for a few seconds, and then
locks up again. If it's many small files, it stays working correctly.

It's baffling, as I can't see how FUSE could affect X like this,
especially when the behaviour occurs by running copies from mtpfs on the
CLI in screen with no access to the X server.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10
Package: mtpfs 1.1-4.1

[Bug 1270276] Re: trying to install

2014-01-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1269992] Re: 2.02~beta2 requires manual testing

2014-01-17 Thread Colin Watson
Elfy (#5): Thanks for your report. We run across this pattern with
every substantial enough change to GRUB. It's not actually a problem
with the new upstream per se - it points to a misconfiguration in how
GRUB is installed, and unfortunately we've never quite tracked down the
root cause. However, I bet you'll find that if you run sudo debconf-
show grub-pc you'll find that grub-pc/install_devices is set to
something that doesn't include the device you're actually booting from
(and please do tell us the current value). You can fix this by using
sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc and telling it to install to the master
boot record of every disk in your system (it may be possible to get by
with less, but this is generally a reasonable approach).

Edwin (#6): Thanks for your report. Timeout handling has changed around
a bit recently, and not all the packaging is quite up to date yet (the
transition is a bit tricky). You might like to review:

info -f grub -n 'Simple configuration'

... to see how to adjust your configuration. If it still doesn't work,
then do attach your /etc/default/grub so I can see what might be going
on.

It's bug, because it's difficult to unlock PC. You need to click Change

[Bug 1249474] Re: server install iso and netboot pxe hang in ethdetect

2014-01-17 Thread Ryan Beisner
Hardware = Dell Latitude E5430 with BCM Eth Wireless.

The 13.10 Server installer hangs on the purple text screen. Switching
to console 2 and inspecting syslog reveals failure to load bcm wireless
firmware.

Disabling Wireless device in BIOS during prior to installation was what
I did. Blacklisting the brcmsmac should do the trick too.

I believe this model of laptop IS on the Ubuntu certification list, so
this probably merits a little heat.

[Bug 1265983] Re: php5 cli one instance/process limit

2014-01-17 Thread KnightMB
I appreciate everyone trying to help.

I do know the difference between the two, but your updated example still
does not work. It will still freeze the current script until the former
script finishes.

The problem appears to be in with php-cli and how it is using the exec
function.

I don't expect the devs to fix an bug that exist in php-cli, but so far
this bug only exist in Ubuntu and not any other distro that I have
tested (arch, redhat, centos, mandriva, mageia, fedora, gentoo,
slackware, mint, debian, opensuse, amazon linux,). Yes, I have tested
all of those, across many difference versions and arch (32 and 64 bit)
The issue has never up until now, but only because others were reporting
the issue to me.

So it works in all of those and not in Ubuntu; what is different in
Ubuntu?

Again, thanks for all the time and help. I do appreciate the attempts to
make it work, I wish I had more time to zero in on what the issue is,
but it is beyond my free time at the moment. Thanks again!

[Bug 1270342] [NEW] WICD encryption menu fails to list WPA2 with AES

2014-01-17 Thread Zortan Kotani
Public bug reported:

Very simply, there is no reliable encryption that works with Wireless N
except WPA2 with AES.

The menu in WICD to set up a connection doesn't list anything close to
this so the user doesn't know what to choose.

I understand that WPA 1/2 might be the correct choice (it is working for
me) -- but why make it trial and error for each and every user?

Can you:

1) Please change the menu to read:

WPA 1 or 2 (autodetect encryption method)

if this is what is meant. As it is now it reads WPA one-half (that is
what wpa 1/2 looks like)

2) if there is another encryption choice that works that is fine but I can't
figure out what it is... from the menu.

This also happens with the headphones port on the Dell XPS 13 9333
(Haswell) that features the same sound card.

My computer doesn't output any unusual background noise using Windows,
so this is clearly a driver problem.

[Bug 1241608] Re: gnome-tweak-tool window not sensitive to font size

2014-01-17 Thread Romano Giannetti
Another effect of the font size is the one you can see in the attached
screenshot. Even without changing font size, the description of some
options are so long they cannot be seen in the dropdown menu. I have no
idea what the marked two are doing (less about in which way they are
different...).

A possible solution would be hovering tips with the complete text.

[Bug 1270349] [NEW] gnome-tweak-tool windows is too big for notebooks

2014-01-17 Thread Romano Giannetti
Public bug reported:

I understand this is a minor issue, but I think it's still useful to
report it.

The new look (gnome 3.10) of gnome-tweak-tool is great, but it is non-
resizable (why?) and it is too tall for my notebook, which has a
vertical resolution of 600 pixels. You can still access the hidden part
with the alt+left click trick, but you have to know it...

Make the window resizable and remembering the size would solve the
problem.

2014-01-17 Thread John Bandy
The code that caused the installation problem was in the module
el-get.el. The xemacs21 installation completed successfully, and
xemacs21 and xemacs21-nomule configured correctly, with this program
not installed.

On 1/5/14, John Bandy jbandy1...@gmail.com wrote:

 which is correct. Further
checking showed that the package requires an older version of autoconf
 (2.13) than what
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installs by default (autoconf 2.68). Although
 Synaptic installed xemacs21
with errors configuring ...-mule and ...-nomule, it is an older
 package with outdated internet

 elisp code. The other

 Title:
Rhythmbox's track progress bar doesn't work

Status in “gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg” package in Ubuntu:
   Confirmed

 Bug description:
   Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When playing most songs in Rhythmbox, the track progress bar doesn't
move. It stays at the beginning and cannot be dragged to seek either.
The current play time at the top-right displays correctly though, and
Rhythmbox does advance to the next song when the current one is
   complete.

I have noticed that the songs for which the progress bar doesn't work
all have Unknown for their Time column in the library. The songs for
which the progress bar _does_ work show their correct time there. So
   obviously that's the root problem.

This bug is the same as bugs 442304, 459571, 499708, but I have been
directed to open a new one. The workaround described on bug 499708 did
not work for me. Removing all songs from the library and then re-
importing them doesn't fix the problem of the Time column being
   Unknown for most songs.

FYI, I observed this problem back in Karmic too.

[Bug 1270106] Re: package cpufreqd 2.4.2-2 failed to install/upgrade: 子进程 已安装 post-installation 脚本 返回了错误号 134
