[Bug 1394502] [NEW] Can not attach to running screen session
Public bug reported: I have ubuntu 14.04 LTS version and there is a screen session. The session is alive, it has a program running which is generating files. I can also see it on the process list (ps aux): sampie1377 0.0 0.0 87140 1736 ?Ss marras03 0:00 SCREEN -R -d However, I am unable to attach to that session. screen -list command says: No Sockets found in /var/run/screen/S-sampie. screen -r says: There is no screen to be resumed. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but how can I attach to the existing screen session? [Bug 53887] Command completion should be enhanced
Public bug reported: When bash has more than one completion alternatives, it prints the list of possible completions. If user presses the TAB again, the list is showed again. There should be a completion mode which browses/suggests a item from the completion list instead of showing the list again. There is a patch to demonstrate how this could work. This is only a proof-of-concept patch. There is a new completion mode called browse-complete. [Bug 70129] Usability problems
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gaim I upgraded Ubuntu from Dapper to Edgy and received a new Gaim. I experienced following problems with the new Gaim, (some of them make Gaim almost unusable for me): - I can't find SEND button from message dialog. ENTER-key seems to send the message. Which is not what I want. [Bug 123992] Re: Problems with USB-speakers
I did some further testing. It all depends on what devices are selected: Playback: Logitech Logitech USB Speaker USB Audio (ALSA) does not work ALSA - Advanced Sound Architecture works Mixer: Playback: ALSA PCM on front: 1 (USB Audio) via DMA hotkeys works Logitech USB Speaker (Alsa mixer) hotkeys does not work. So, by trial and error the user is able to select working devices. Why there are many bogus devices on the list? If I disconnect the USB and connect it again. [Bug 123992] Re: Problems with USB-speakers
Volume control of the panel keeps using wrong audio device. It uses integrated audio device instead of external USB speakers. However, double clicking the panel volume control opens window with correct audio device. This seems not to be an issue anymore with ubuntu hardy. - Probably the same issue occurs when using physical volume buttons of the USB-speakers. Volume control box pops to the screen and the volume bar moves correctly, but the actual volume of the speakers does not change. With ubuntu hardy for some reason the volume bar does not move correctly with a shortcut key. There seems to be white background noice, when using external USB speakers (tested with two different machines). The noice is not present with Windows. [Bug 123992] Problems with USB-speakers
Public bug reported: There are several problems in Ubuntu 7.04 (Gnome desktop) with external USB speakers (Logitech V20). - Volume control of the panel keeps using wrong audio device. It uses integrated audio device instead of external USB speakers. However, double clicking the panel volume control opens window with correct audio device. - Probably the same issue occurs when using physical volume buttons of the USB-speakers. Volume control box pops to the screen and the volume bar moves correctly, but the actual volume of the speakers does not change. - Unplugging the USB-speakers and plugging them again results non- working audio. Only logging out and in again remedies the problem. - Bass of the speakers changes by itself (randomly). Bass level does not change during a desktop session, but when booting or unplugging/replugging. Additionally, clicking bass boost on and then again off results less bass than given initially after boot (after boot the bass boost toggle is off). - Every n:th boot the USB speakers are not in use. However, this problem occurs very very rarely (= n is quite large) and is remedied usually in next boot. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Problems with USB-speakers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123992 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 500226] [NEW] Freeze
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hi, Running this simple Jmonkeyengine demo (/example code) freezes X on Ubuntu. I have tried this with 3 different ubuntu machines. Basically this freeze starts to happen when the application is run about 3 - 5 times. The freeze happens when trying to exit the program. In fact, the program somehow messes the graphics handling in such a way that if I run OpenGL program, say, OpenArena, exiting openarena freezes X too. (It might be that with this bug, a java applet could be created to Internet which does Denial Of Service to Ubuntu or at least messes local OpenGL applications making them to hang X.) [Bug 70129] Re: Usability problems
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, my problem still remains. Let me clarify the case. As long as I have used instant messaging (almost a decade now), I have written and edited (like in a text editor) my messages, and then pressed the send button to send the messages. It is easy to use and easy to understand (perfect email metaphor). Now it seems this elegant way of using messaging is gone. Now I have more empty tool panel, because the button is missing. I would gladly give up the empty space to have the button back. Of cource, the send button is still on the menu. But using menu for a common task is just not feasible. My choices seem to be to change the messager (at least some messagers still support my use-case) or get used to the ENTER-sends way of sending the messages. It seems to me that gaim has lost more than it has gained by this new design. At least in terms of usability. -- Usability problems https://launchpad.net/bugs/70129 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 587428] [NEW] Skype video call does not work
Public bug reported: I have logitech webcam for notebooks pro (usb). I upgraded ubuntu to lucid. Now skype video calls do not work. The webcam microphone stops working after starting video.
