[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 820832] [NEW] xorg 100% when scrolling in gnome terminal
Public bug reported: When gnome-terminal starts scrolling continuosly (i.e. tailing a log), the Xorg cpu usage bumps up to 100% and my machine becomes deadly slow (even though it's a 8 cores westmere). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 702550] Re: X forgets xinput settings on suspend
I'd like to strongly emphasize my opinion that this is certainly NOT a duplicate of #554984. Bug #554984 is about enabling tracpoint scrolling generally. THIS bug, however, is about X forgetting certain settings, namely the trackpoint wheel emulation, which have been enabled via xinput, during an S3 (suspend to ram) cycle. Since X is not being restarted in the course of this event, it should also not change or forget its settings. Putting the required statements into .xsessionrc as recommended in #554984 as a workaround does not apply for this bug, too, since that file is only evaluated at X startup and not at resume from s3. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 554984 [lucid] enable trackpoint scroll emulation by default -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/702550 Title: X forgets xinput settings on suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinput/+bug/702550/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 702550] Re: X forgets xinput settings on suspend
Although this bug is most certainly not a duplicate of bug #554984, it might (or might not) be related to bug #489830 which seems to have useful hints in the comments. Whether or not this actually is the same issue should be properly investigated before flagging this as dupe again, IMHO. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 820918] [NEW] The screen gets garbled after a few hours of use
Public bug reported: Hi, I have noticed this problem on my desktop (hoping details were picked by apport) on Ubuntu 10.10 also and was expecting it to be fixed on 11.04 but I still see the issue. It gets really annoying as I can't do much with the screen in this state - A Ctrl-A and Esc usually clears up some of the mess. I don't see this issue on any other machine so I am sure it is a problem specific to the hardware. I am attaching the screen capture along with. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 129041] Re: xterm icon available by default
Since the default session is unity, which doesn't have a menu as classic GNOME, I'm inclined to close this bug as 'opinion' rather than implement 'NoDisplay', as the package in oneiric does install .desktop files by default. The rationale is that apart from Ubuntu/Xubuntu, the other variants don't seem to include xterm by default, so if people install it they most likely want to see the app in the desktop menu as well.. ** Changed in: xterm (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xterm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129041 Title: xterm icon available by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xterm/+bug/129041/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Sitsofe: I reported the bug on my i945 with the desktop etc corruption at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/820881 However I suppose the bug on my i915 is the same one as described here, because I see mainly font corruption. Window buttons are a small exception which is quite hard to notice, but this was also reported in the original bug report on i915. I believe these reports belong together, because they both consist of similar defects (extra vertical lines on small sprites). Or do you suppose there should be also separate bug report on window buttons for i915? And I want to stress that I didn't have the font corruption problem on Ubuntu 10.10 (and before), or at least it didn't happen often enough for me to notice it (although I still think I have seen it couple of times during past years). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745608 Title: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745608/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 807161] Re: [Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller] Display sluggish, black background and repeated windows drawn when external monitor is connected
Just tested these systems with the 2.6.38-11 kernel from -proposed, they still have the same behavior as originally described. Again, if I bring the external display's resolution down to 800x600 (640x480 on one system as nothing higher will work), both displays look/work fine and performance is good with no sluggishness. But with the default optimum resolution on the external panel it has sluggishness and corrupted display. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807161 Title: [Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller] Display sluggish, black background and repeated windows drawn when external monitor is connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/807161/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics)
I have a HP dm4-1100 (sometimes notated dm4t) with the 5470 switchable graphics. I tested bisects 001, 004, 005, 006, and 011. 001, 004, and 006 each booted properly 10 times out of 10. 005 failed the first three times before I gave up on it. 011 booted 10 out of 13 times. The last two times I booted 011 I didn't get the evergreen error, and my cursor appeared (and would move properly), but I couldn't do anything else. I took some pictures with my phone of the error on the last two times, and if you think it would be helpful I can transcribe them, but I'd rather not if you do not think it would be of any help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727620 Title: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/727620/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Likewise, my HP ProBook 4320s works fine with the older kernel but the clickpad is broken with the 10.04.3 kernel. I just changed GRUB_DEFAULT=2 in /etc/default/grub followed by sudo update-grub2 to make that kernel default (and it will more or less break if a newer kernel comes out, thereby alerting me to the change at which point I can try the new new kernel and see if the problem persists.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582809 Title: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/582809/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 821181] Re: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I notice you're running Ubuntu 10.04, and trying to install the NVidia drivers for that version (nvidia-current 195.36.24). However, your kernel version is 2.6.38-10, this is not the kernel that shipped with Ubuntu 10.04 (that should have version 2.6.32-21 to 2.6.32-33). Thus, it is possible that the nvidia drivers fail to compile because they weren't written for the kernel you're running. Is there a reason why you're not using the 2.6.32 kernel, or why you haven't upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04, which does include the 2.6.38 kernel, as well as NVidia drivers version 270.41.06 which are compatible with kernel 2.6.38? I could suggest two things, both to try to solve your problem and to confirm my hypothesis. First would be for you to install and boot the 2.6.32 kernel for Ubuntu 10.04, then retry installing the NVidia drivers. However given the newness of your NVidia card, it might be that it it not supported by that version of the driver. Second, if at all possible, would be to upgrade your system to Ubuntu 11.04, and then try to install the drivers that the stable 11.04 release will suggest. Please do let me know whether these suggestions work, as it will let me know how to classify this report.
