We are having a very strange storm in the entire Southern Ontario, it is not
snow but freezing rain. Do not put this stuff on test for it is a killer.
Remember the ice storm that hit Quebec in 1998? We are most likely facing
that class this evening. Do not get outside and do not drive. And that not
driving includes if you have a 4 X 4, I have seen so many on the pavement
today. Many emergency services have been cancelled, and we are soon only
remaining with what is classified as “Highly emergency” Services. This ice
storm is going to hit us throughout the night. Now here is what is the good
news. If everything with this storm goes as the models we are looking at
from Environment Canada, tomorrow is the worst. We are expecting tomorrow
Sunday at minimum a pile of 20 inches of ice storm. We work through the snow
storms but this stuff please leave it alone. We can run our lives from
Monday next week, but this Saturday and tomorrow Sunday if you are in the
entire Southern Ontario, please park the car and stay home. There is a very
possibility that we will start to lose power by tomorrow morning, if the ice
becomes very heavy on the tower lines. Have some means of light in your
residence as a caution. We will survive this and let us survive it together
but in homes.

Just remember that last Tuesday or Wednesday we had a high of 18. Feed on
that as you enjoy the beer.

Just a very quick reminder as we start the weekend {a} As we were closing
the day, a few hours ago a Toronto Superior Court judge has denied a request
to extend the voting period for the Ontario PC Party leadership race. The
party is set to announce its new leader Saturday, today, afternoon as
scheduled. {b} We are shifting all clocks this weekend forward by an hour.
Thus we are going to lose an hour of sleep. Always remember we fall behind
in the fall and we spring forward in the start of spring. If you still have
any equipment not manufactured to shift the hour automatically, make sure
you shift them this weekend forward by an hour. As a law Monday we are going
to get the most pedestrian accidents, watch out for that. And very lastly if
you shift your clocks, remember to replace the batteries of all your smoke
and carbon monoxide detectors. It is a very good habit.

Enjoy the weekend.

Through my MP Mr. Morneau, the Federal government introduced its 2018 budget
last week. It is a huge document, but there is a point I need you to be
careful about. Through this budget, the notes of $2 and $1000 have been
declared null and void. These two notes were taken out of circulation a
couple of years ago, but if you saved them , you would use them for they
were still regarded as a legal tender. Banks have been accepting them only
that they were retaining them when they get them. With this budget, the 2
dollar note and the 1000 dollar note are no longer going to be accepted as a
legal tender. Make sure you have cleared them from your position or they are
a historical collection. If you did not read the budget here we go:-

passed away this afternoon in Trillium Health Center Mississauga. To those
that knew him when he was still living in London Ontario, and those in
Mississauga where he made his second home in this country, when he came to
Toronto, our condolences to you all.

I need to take a moment and raise the name of a dear friend, a friend I held
on as long as I knew him, the late Charles Kiyemba. I lost that friend
years ago, but his family remained with us in this city, thus the wife
Annett, and the sister Reverend Rose. Those two very good friends have lived
in this city for as far back as I can remember, and they have lived with
their mom. If you have attended Uganda functions in this city you surely
have seen her, and she has been a very loving mom for most of us. I have
been informed that mom has passed away while in Uganda. Annett, Reverend
Rose and Reverend Kazibwe with the kids, our prayers are with you at this
point, a point where you need the comfort only handed by the good Lord.

We are praying for you and we are sad with you as you go through this very
hard time.

During last campaign when we won the majority, the party promised to cut
small business tax. This morning my MP Bill Morneau also the Federal Finance
minister introduced the Prime Minister Justine Trudeau in a Main Street
Pizzeria in Stouffville, as the minister was announcing the cut in small
business tax. Thus effective January 01 2018, small businesses in Canada are
going to enjoy a 10% tax rate, come January 01 2019 that tax is going to be
reduced to a 9%. The tax cut will take full effect 10 months before the next
federal election. It is important to note here that business in United
States are paying between 34% and 42% depending in what state you are doing
business, and The Democrats are out to war in stopping president Trump from
revising that percentage, to tell you the truth I do not think Trump is
going to get that tax cut for the swamp wants to suck its population dry. If
you have kids, jobs are coming in this country and very fast, encourage them
to apply for as long as Democrats sabotage tax reform, American companies
are coming here. It is a campaign promise fulfilled

We are going to have a tough night for we are going to spend it through a
very high wind. Environment Canada few hours ago issued a high wind watch
for the greater authority of Toronto and suburbs, in the speeds passed 100
KMHs. As I post this writing, trees have started to snap up and power lines
are going down. If you are on power that is not underground, expect your
power to go off or to remain on thus take all precautions possible before
you go to bed especially for your refrigerator, Medical equipments if you
own one, and alarm systems, for it is very possible that you are going to
lose power when you are in your sleep. Ontario hydro is already listing
power losses on customers in Greater Toronto, Power stream is as well
listing thousands of customers in Vaughn with power losses. If you are
driving into or out of Toronto towards Niagara falls/Michigan, it is not a
good idea to drive over the skyway, for the wind is not friendly on the
bridge. It is going to be a rough night so take all precautions to live
through the night, and if you’re driving a trailer or a tinny car, kindly
park it till tomorrow morning. We are going to have a couple of unfriendly
days but passed Wednesday we are going to go right back up in passed 20 plus
and laughing.

Enjoy the night with all yours very truly.

I am apologizing for taking this long to come back on this very serious issue,
I have been travelling in and out of the country at a very terrible pace, that
it has taken me a time to come back on this very sad issue. To those that have
lived in this city as long as myself/family, we lost a great man out of us, his
name is John Drake Semakula, a man that was among the very few Ugandans that I
came to know in this city. I do not know who arrived in Canada first, whether
it was Mwami Ssemakula’s family or Ems family first, but I think the difference
in our arrival in this country/city has a difference of barely months, at most
two. His lovely wife and children are truly in our hearts today, and we are
praying God to protect their strength, for they need it at this particular
moment.

There are those that became our very first fist contact when we arrived in this
city, not for they were of that age, but for they cared to see that as
immigrants we can survive in this society, and I raise the names of The Omukulu
Igga and family, Professor A B K Kasozi and family, Omukulu Wanzama Piro and
family, Omwami Kasasa out of Hamilton, Mwami Male and family, Omukulu Zzimbe,
Omukulu Mbarire, the Kavuma and Lui lwayo, now I am bringing you the real names
of who was the who when we came into this city we today call the home. Apart
from Mwami Kasasa that came way earlier than all the listed above, probably I
have forgotten a very few, but when you look on all those names, and you add
in the Mwami Ssemakula’s family and myself, the difference in arriving into
Canada is actually in days if not months, at the end of the day we all built
the base of the Uganda community in this city. Is it a successful community?
That Is the debate our very learned children will chew on when we are at rest.

I am going to make a statement, and I stand corrected, for these are historical
facts I got from way far back in the years, to those that have served in the
diplomatic arena of our country, if my memory is right, Mwami Ssemakula served
as a diplomat in our embassy of Khartoum in the 70’s when embassies had an
actual meaning, it is from that position he fled into this country.
-> And on that fact I stand to be very corrected.

On May 8th 1946, God blessed a family in Uganda with a child they thus named
John Drake Semakula, on September the 22nd 2017 the good Lord decided to take
him back. On September the 30th the family of Mwami Ssemakula is going to
walk into the Brampton chapel, on 52 Main Street South, Brampton Ontario, to
celebrate his life between the hours of 11.00am to 1.00Pm. At 3.00 pm that same
day, the family is going to take Mwami Ssemakula to his final resting place,
which will be Brampton Memorial Gardens, at 10061 Chinguacousy Road, Brampton,
Ontario. That is going to be Chinguacousy and Bovdair about. The family out of
the graciousness of their heart, has allowed us as Ugandans in the community,
to accompany them as they do this process on both addresses and listed times,
as they celebrate the life of this very good man.

I am going to do my best to be in the city, as I struggle with my travelling in
and out of the country, but kindly if you are a Ugandan in this city, if you
are a fried of Uganda, Drake Semakula is a man you must escort, for in all
years I have known this man, I do not know a single person that has ever
complained about him, let us all collect ourselves from all places of this
city, province and country, to support this family as it passes through this
very tough time. And until when you have lived through it, you have no
definition of tough time.

To send flowers to the funeral home, their phone number is (905)-451-2124 Let
us kindly go in and stand with this family, for that is what is what it right.

will replace Crisanti as deputy mayor of Etobicoke.

Just as a reminder, Doug Ford has clearly stated he is standing to be a

We have had an incident in Gatwick airport today when one of our Air Canada
Rouge flight into Toronto took off and blew a tire as it was taking off, as
usual the pilot called in a May day and they circled around to dump the fuel
and re landed back into Gatwick. I do not understand why they decided to
re-land when they had taken off but that was the decision made at the time.
As by this posting, AC 1925 an air bus out of Gatwick is still reading
delayed, if you are expecting any one on that flight call the GTAA for the
update on the flight. It is important to note as well that this is not the
first time A/C has had a problem with tires, in April a London Heathrow
–bound flight lost one of its wheels during a takeoff from Montreal’s
Trudeau Airport, that flight was allowed to go and it landed safely in
Heathrow. In February or there about, an Air Canada flight made a hard
landing at Toronto Pearson airport, the impact blew a tire before the plane
came to a sudden stop.

There was a metal on the runway in Gatwick that took out our tire.

Message from the Governor General of Canada
Following the Announcement of Canada’s 29th Governor General

BEIJING, CHINA - From Beijing, China, where I am currently undertaking an
official visit with a delegation of distinguished Canadians, I am delighted
to congratulate my successor, Ms. Julie Payette, on today’s announcement by
Her Majesty The Queen and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, appointing her as
Canada’s 29th governor general upon her installation this Fall.

Ms. Payette is one of Canada’s most remarkable and accomplished citizens,
and her appointment to the position of governor general of Canada is
wonderful news for our country. It’s a function I’ve been so privileged to
hold for the past seven years, and I am certain that she will fulfil this
role with intelligence, grace and energy, and that she will bring qualities
of curiosity, courage and compassion to her mandate.

In Ms. Payette we welcome a Canadian of extraordinary achievement, admired
by all, especially for her time as an astronaut who flew two missions in
space. She has made Canada very proud and will continue to do so by
connecting, honouring and inspiring Canadians as the next representative of
Her Majesty The Queen.

It has been an immense honour to serve Canadians as governor general. My
wife, Sharon, and I wish Ms. Payette the very best in her new role and offer
her our fullest support and collaboration during this transition period.

It is too early to know when the area roads will be opened.

[Ugnet] TO THOSE IN THE CITY WE FELL ON THE SWORD OF THE SWEDISH

2017-05-22 Thread Herrn Mulindwa Edward
Friends

This is what I have Been warning you about all long, in all these teams let
alone Finland, Russia or Norway, we are the only team that can beat these
craps. But we beat them for we get a chance to be lined up against them, in
the first games. The moment we do not get the chance to be lined up to play
Sweden, they become an eminent danger. And here is why, when we play them at
the lower level we use lethal force and simply yank them out. We simply
cannot win them on the final game, and we have always had this problem. You
see in the final game emotions get very high, we try not to make so many
mistakes, and the under play gets into the belly. You do not want to split a
piece of meat off a leg of an opponent in the final game for now they are
going to cry we were attacked, but in lower games everything goes. I
watched this game and we simply played too well and a soft play, the attacks
were very modest and we lost this cup which was ours by all standards.

Sweden is a very tough player and there is no two ways about it, but the
only way they will always lose a cup is if we play them at a lower game and
smash them out. There is always that under belly fear of playing them at
final. So what happened here, we left the job of men, which is to eliminate
Sweden way early, to the boys like Russia and Finland, they failed to do
what was right and we have paid the final price. We protected the goal and
we feared to attack, when all games we win, it is to blow the brains out of
the goal keeper. The Swedish were laughing their heads off for we were
simply not going there. We controlled all the power plays and we refused to
be scored that is fine, but look at the final score, 2-1, they just whizzed
by. When we come back to this eventuality, we need to accept to be very bad
neighbors and do the right thing, Attack Attack Attack and Attack, at the
end of the game the heads of the Swedish are going to firkin spin. We cannot
lose a final to The Swedish again, either kill them at the beginning of
competition or crash them into final they need to be beaten. Congratulations
to The Swedish, but remember this always, we created Hockey and we are
coming back for that God damn cup.

You might as well store it in Arlanda international for an easy pick up to
Pearson International.

The win is Sweden’s first in four tries against Canada since the IIHF
instituted the playoff system in 1992, and their first since 2013. Sweden
stops Canada from being the first team to three-peat since the Czechs
accomplished the feat between 1999 and 2001.

Just like in Saturday’s 4-2 semifinal comeback win over Russia, there was no
scoring in the first period. After competing in separate groups in the
preliminary round, the Swedes and Canadians went through a feeling-out
process. Shots were 12-10 for Sweden in the first, with Canada easily able
to kill off two penalties against the ninth-ranked Swedish power play.

Hedman got Sweden on the scoreboard with Nicklas Backstrom serving his
second penalty of the game. Hedman’s bouncing shot from the point off a
broken play eluded Pickard with 20.8 seconds left in the period.

The Canadians once again used their lethal power play to get back into the
game in the third with Elias Lindholm whistled for high sticking at 1:48. It
took just 10 seconds for O’Reilly to tie the game at 1-1 by flipping a Mitch
Marner rebound over the right shoulder of Lundqvist. It was the first
special-teams goal that Lundqvist had surrendered in five tournament games.

Canada tested its tournament-best penalty kill when Mike Matheson took a
tripping penalty with 3:18 to play in the third period, but the Swedes
matched them with an untimely too-many-men penalty with 1:24 left on the
clock.

Sweden had a slight territorial edge in overtime by outshooting Canada
11-10. Sean Couturier was whistled for tripping with 10:51 left in overtime
but the Canadian penalty killers were up to the task.

Alex Killorn fed Matt Duchene with a nifty spin-o-rama pass late in
overtime, but his shot was stopped by Lundqvist.

Sweden called a timeout to set up an offensive-zone faceoff with 21 seconds
left to play in overtime. Claude Giroux won the crucial draw to allow the
Canadians to get the puck out of danger and set up the shootout.

In the shootout, William Nylander was denied by

Joint Statement from President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau

February 13, 2017
Washington, D.C. (États-Unis d’Amérique)

President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held their first
official meeting today in Washington, D.C. and affirmed their longstanding
commitment to close cooperation in addressing both the challenges facing our
two countries and problems around the world.

No two countries share deeper or broader relations than Canada and the
United States. We are bound together by our history, our values, our
economy, our environment, and our resolve to improve the lives of our
citizens. Our close relationship and ongoing collaboration allow us to
successfully meet any challenges we may face over the coming years, and to
build a prosperous future for the people of both countries.

Neighbours in Growing our Economies

We recognize our profound shared economic interests, and will work
tirelessly to provide growth and jobs for both countries. Canada is the most
important foreign market for thirty-five U.S. States, and more than $2
billion in two-way trade flows across our shared border every day. Millions
of American and Canadian middle-class jobs, including in the manufacturing
sector, depend on our partnership. We affirm the importance of building on
this existing strong foundation for trade and investment and further
deepening our relationship, with the common goal of strengthening the middle
class.

The United States and Canada also recognize the importance of cooperation to
promote economic growth, provide benefits to our consumers and businesses,
and advance free and fair trade. We will continue our dialogue on regulatory
issues and pursue shared regulatory outcomes that are business-friendly,
reduce costs, and increase economic efficiency without compromising health,
safety, and environmental standards. We will work together regarding labour
mobility in various economic sectors.

Given our shared focus on infrastructure investments, we will encourage
opportunities for companies in both countries to create jobs through those
investments. In particular, we look forward to the expeditious completion of
the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which will serve as a vital economic
link between our two countries.

Energy Security and Environment

U.S.-Canada energy and environmental cooperation are inextricably linked,
and we commit to further improving our ties in those areas. We have built
the world’s largest energy trading relationship. We share the goals of
energy security, a robust and secure energy grid, and a strong and resilient
energy infrastructure that contributes to energy efficiency in both
countries. We collaborate closely on energy innovation, particularly in the
clean energy sphere. As the process continues for the Keystone XL pipeline,
we remain committed to moving forward on energy infrastructure projects that
will create jobs while respecting the environment.

We also look forward to building on our many areas of environmental
cooperation, particularly along our border and at the Great Lakes, and we
will continue to work together to enhance the quality of our air and water.

Partners in Keeping our Border Secure

We recognize the security of our borders as a top priority. Together, we
address security at our shared border and throughout our two countries,
while expediting legitimate and vital cross-border trade and travel. We
demonstrate daily that security and efficiency go hand-in-hand, and we are
building a 21st century border through initiatives such as pre-clearance of
people and integrated cross-border law enforcement operations. In addition,
our two countries are committed to a coordinated entry-exit information
system so that records of land and air entries into one country establish
exit records for the other.

Recognizing the success of pre-clearance operations for travellers, we
commit to establishing pre-clearance operations for cargo. We intend to
accelerate the completion of pre-clearance for additional cities and
continue to expand this program. Not only will these efforts enhance
efficiency at our shared border, they will also strengthen our shared
security. In the spirit of a more efficient and secure border, we will also
examine ways to further integrate our border operations, including analysis
of the feasibility of co-locating border officials in common processing
facilities.

Because we share a strong concern about the increase in opioid-related
deaths, our countries will work together on common solutions to protect our
people from opioid trafficking.

Given the integrated nature of the infrastructure that supports our
intertwined economies, cyber threats to either country can affect the other.
We therefore commit to further cooperation to enhance critical
infrastructure security, cyber incident management, public awareness,
private sector engagement, and capacity building initiatives.

We are getting reports of a plane crash in Kelowna. We are getting
information that everyone on board has passed away, and if we are going by
the passenger list as it was filed at taking off, the name of The Former
Alberta Premier Jim Prentice, is included. So as details are coming in, we
are not sure on who boarded and who did not, but by now the name of the
former premier of Alberta is listed as among the passengers in the ill-fated
flight.

We have some very bad news, the friend that passed away in Uganda was
actually in this city. And to those that have lived here for a while you
remember Dr Joseph Galiwango, that was based in Windsor Ontario, but many
times a visitor to Toronto. Joseph ended up marrying a Uganda lady out of
Toronto here, and they both ended up deciding to head back to Uganda to
retire. If you attended Uganda meetings in this city when some of us were
still thinking that we can live as an organized community, you surely
remember Joseph, a man that had no problem with any one, and a man that gave
shelter to any Ugandan that needed it in Windsor. Dr Joseph Galiwango sadly
passed away at around 8.30am. On behalf of myself, my entire family and the
Uganda community in the city, I convey our condolences to Evelyn and the
children.

May the Good Lord give you a way to find peace in this hard time.

Canadian doctor found dead

Written by JOHNSON TAREMWA

 Created: 10 June 2016

Kampala Metropolitan police detectives were yesterday investigating the
sudden death of a Ugandan-born Canadian doctor in Wakiso district.

Sources told The Observer that Dr Joseph Galiwango was yesterday morning
found dead in a family house at Gobero village in Wakiso district. He was
about 70 years, and a resident of Plot 17 Kimera road, Ntinda, in Kampala.

The deceased was married to Evelyn Henrietta Galiwango, and they had four
sons who live in Canada and America Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman
Patrick Onyango said they were informed of Galiwango’s death by Aaron
Ssemate, the Gobero LC-I chairman.

“It was around 8:20am when Ssemate went to Kakiri police station and
reported how Dr Galiwango was found dead in his house,” Onyango said.

Police detectives found a dead adult male in bed, with blood flowing from
his nose and mouth. He was identified by locals as Galiwango. Onyango said
the police was suspecting suicide but only a postmortem report would tell
the exact cause of death.

MISSING PERSON

Galiwango’s widow Evelyn Henrietta told us that she got the sad news at
around 10:00am from neighbours in Gobero. She said her husband had gone
missing at round 2:30pm on Tuesday May 6.

“I thought he had gone to Ntinda and that he will come back shortly,” she
said.

When she called at around 5:30pm, his phone was off.

Evelyn then reported a case of a missing person at Ntinda police station and
informed her sons in America and Canada. She said she was planning to run
media announcements on Friday when the phone call came.

She said she had lived with her now-deceased husband in Canada from 1972 to
2012, when they returned to Uganda to retire.

The wife of former Quebec premier Jacques Parizeau says the longtime Quebec
sovereigntist icon has died. Lisette Lapointe says the 84-year-old passed
away after what she called a ``titanic fight.'' Apart from her twit there is
no information that has been released yet to explain what exactly happened
here, but Parizeau has been out of the picture for some moment. And it is so
funny for I was in Montreal all day yesterday and someone raised his name of
why he is not heard from any more, and here we so are. Again as by a twit
posted by his wife tonight, former Quebec premier a man that gave us so much
grief with his sovereign stand, Jacques Parizeau has passed away.

Hope we know more when the day breaks.

given that it is at the core and all systems are just kicking in, so it is
not clear yet who is shooting who or what. Let us remember that this is the

that we have a Santa Clause parade for this morning that has to go through
the very same intersection.

This has just come in very few seconds ago. In a press conference held at
Mt. Sinai hospital where Mayor Rob Ford is hospitalized, Dr. Zane Cohen has
just stated the following, the Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford has been diagnosed
with malignant liposarcoma, a very rare type of cancer that makes up less
than 1 per cent of all cancers. It arises out of the fatty tissue, has not
spread to any organs, the malignant tumour in Mr. Ford’s abdomen is about 12
centimetres by 12 centimetres. Dr Cohen also added that a second nodule has
been found in the mayor’s left buttock. The mayor is going to undergo
chemotherapy for about three days, before a “wash-out period” of 18 days
where doctors will reassess the results.

Our prayers with the family of His Lordship the Mayor.
