hi stewie,

I should mention, from my limited understanding, the "modern" UIs are
using standard toolkits with pre-defined "widgets". So you just pick the
data display format required from one of these "widgets" ie. so just
select "circle widget" rather than "bar widget". This is reason why they
all look similar.

Jivelite is based on code written from scratch by Logitech and AFAIK
there is no equivalent of a "circle widget".

I don't recommend using the built-in wifi, use a USB wifi adaptor. If
you use wifi, use the standard pCP .

We have to work out where these pops and cracks are coming from before
we can answer this.

I haven't heard of this before. Hope we get more feedback.

What audio formats are you using?

piCore is RAM based by default. You can also increase the size of your
buffers.

You will find that squeezlite/alsa is a different animal than MPD.

Anyway, What is your output setting on the squeezelite page...then
also expand the "more" and let us know what are the outputs found by

Hi stewie,

Who are you directing this suggestion too?

As there is no longer an official software development team (driven by a
Marketing department), this is very unlikely to happen. I think you will
find, the people capable of doing this are not interested in spending
the time necessary on a UI refresh.

But you never know, there could be someone out there doing this now!

I understand, but since the very same Rpi3 work great with the official
Raspian + MPD + the same USB DAC even to 384 kHz, I suppose that is
something not dependent to the HW.

Anyway the DAC is this: HiFace DAC by M2Tech
http://www.m2tech.biz/it/hiface_dac.html

I am listening right now and confirm that 3.11 is better that 3.20 and
playing without the touch LCD is better than with the LCD.

Moreover, since until 6 month ago I was running the "old" Rpi2, I can
confirm that on the Rpi2 pCP is really better than pure MPD: I suppose
that MPD cunsumes more CPU and the Rpi2 + MPD can not compete with PCP
that is very very light.

Thanks.

Most of the sound development on the RPi system is for i2s sound cards.
USB Dac's are always going to be problematic with the rpi.

Post the specific information about your USB dac, and perhaps someone

For me it sounds like there ist an failure in the filestrukture of the
modified jivelite.tcz. Maybe there is a folder named /opt_1 instead of
/opt or the folder /opt exists twice or something. Did the original
jivelite.tcz properly working? Then I would check if the folderstrukture
of your jivelite.tcz is 100% similar to the original one.

I've updated the shairport-sync package to 3.0.2 with metadata enabled,
included shairport-sync-metadata-reader and updated the init.d script to
enable metadata (using /tmp/shairport-sync-metadata) with picture
support.

I did not add the configuration file option as changes to other scripts
in pcp is also required, perhaps we can add it in a later version.

Turn off shairport in the webgui, reboot, and enable shairport again to
update to 3.0.2

The traditional look with rounded corners, gradients and stuff feels
very dated. While the technology of the squeezebox system is still able

Get a copy of the code. Explore the images folder. Replace files. Post

But to be quite honest? I still consider circular input controls on a

I have not edited the jivelite.sh on the raspberry pi. I unsquashed the
jivelite.tcz in a virtual linux machine and edited the jivelite.sh like
you said above. Then I run squashFS to get the modified jivelite.tcz an

[SlimDevices: Unix] Newbie of pCorePlayer (coming from pure MPD)

2017-05-05 Thread steff

It is my very first time here in this forum and I am quite new in
playing with piCorePlayer.

I am running a Raspberry + MPD since years; the flac files are stored on
a NAS and the audio system is
connected to the raspberry by a USB-DAC M2Tech.
With some tweaks and a recent upgrade to pi3, I am playing even high
resolution FLAC (up to 384 kHz and 24 bit) without any audible pops. All
is perfect even pulling data from the NAS using the built in WiFi.

I was looking for an improvement: avoid using the smartphone with app
such as MPDroid to control the device.
So I switched to Volumio, since it is based on MPD but can offer a built
in support for the official rpi3 LCD and touch.
Volumio was almost as perfect as my previuos pure-MPD setup, but
whenever I use the LCD\touch... my God...
it is a terrible experience. The CPU usage of the rpi3 gets higher due
to Crmoium web browser used by Volumio to control the GUI. A lot of pops
and glitches on high resolution FLAC.

Then I started to look aroud for something different and I found
piCorePlayer and... I am here.

pCP is very interesting, very "light" and... once activated the touch
LCD... WOW!
It is GREAT!

Unfortunately, after playing for some weeks, I am not able to find the
"perfect" setup... I mean I am not able to get the same performances
running the pure-MPD setup, maybe because of me or because of the pCP
architecture, so I am going to asks some question.

1) since I am going to use the built in WiFi and an USB-DAC, should I
use the standard pCP or the Audio Optimezed version?
2) Why I am getting better performances (less pops and cracks) using the
3.11 release versus the latest 3.20 ?
3) Why I am getting more pops and crackes with the touch LCD interface
than without?
3) Why no audio at all playing files with resolution higher than 192
even if the DAC supports is (and with MPD I am able to play) ? The file
of course il played by MPD
5) Is there the (maybe undocumented) possibility to play from memory? I
mean to buffer the 100% of the file before playing it (for example
JRiver offers this feature)

Of course, the above problems occur even with the wired Ethernet and not
only with WiFi

Thanks for your help.

2017-05-05 Thread htctyo

Any different between 3.2 audio and normal ver. I meant the sound
quality.
Before I use 3.1 audio ver with WiFi is OK but I cannot use 3.2 audio
