Adding the dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d line between the Begin-Custom and End-Custom lines in config.txt worked for me. (I also commented out the line that says "gpu_mem=16" but didn't test it uncommented). However Squeezelite then stopped working, but I just worked my way down the list of suggested output devices until I found one that worked (iec958) - a really helpful feature! Connected it up (with attatched monitor to watch the boot) There did not seem to be any major delay, everything booted as normal. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Now booting from SD, want to boot from USB. But how?
You have to add a few seconds to the value of waitusb=xx in the file cmdline.txt The reason..the rpi bootloader loads the files on the boot partition, but you need to give linux a little bit of time to recognize the USB stick before it tries to boot with it. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Now booting from SD, want to boot from USB. But how?
It's a 3B+ I have tried sticking the SD in the card reader in a USB port, but it does not boot up. I'm only pCP on this device, not LMS. So I don't think that necessitates a USB thumb drive, as little is written to the SD card. Not too bothered about a few extra seconds boot time ;) lencoth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69748 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115004 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I have tested this: My system: RasPi Model 3B, Official 7'' screen, external USB HDD for music library, pCP 6.1 (until now), HDMI audio out to Marantz SR 6013 receiver. In-situ-updated to pCP 7.0. Squeezelite did not start (as known). Did the changes to config.txt --> works! In-situ-updated to pCP 8.0. Squeezelite started, changes in config.txt were still there (even the commented "gpu_mem="). Had to change audio out once to "none" and then back to "HDMI audio" --> works! Generally a good idea, but the lms is running on another host and the player will be turned off You can run squeezelite on Raspberry Pi OS, too. That's the component dealing with the playback. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Hi, Thank you for this wonderful software. I've a pi zero that runs squeezelite and jivelite outputting audio and picture to a TV over HDMI. This has been working on picoreplayer 5.0, but I can't get Jivelite working on picoreplayer 8.0 (squeezelite is working well). I see the boot sequence text on the screen, then the piCorePlayer Squeeze Audio Device splash screen, then it goes blank. This has been a fresh install on 2 different SD cards. I've tried both leaving the Jivelite size at the defaults (0) and setting it to1920 x 1080. I've left the frame buffer, frame rate and frame depth at their defaults (/dev/fb0, blank and blank). Any ideas what could be wrong? Both USB sticks and memory cards are originally designed for occasional writes, e.g. for backups, manual transport of files between isolated systems, storing photos on a camera. Since in particular micro SD cards are now also used for video devices such as dashcams you are much more likely to find an SD card that will sustain a lot more writes than in the original use case, at a raised price of course. AFAIK no such need exists for USB sticks and with only a few people wanting to pay extra for it they would be very expensive indeed. gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115004 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Now booting from SD, want to boot from USB. But how?
@LENCOTH or get one of these https://thepihut.com/products/micro-sd-to-sd-extension-cable as @carsten_h , here is a short instruction https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-boot-from-usb/ and a more detailed explanation can be found here https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/computers/raspberry-pi.html Some people put a blank formated SD in the raspberry pi slot as this will help with a quicker return when the pi polls for a sd card. Also, a card reader will, or should work, as you intend but a proper usb stick might server better in the long term, in my opinion :) ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115004 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

is there any chance for an apache2 - php 7 extension? pCP was designed to do one task, and do it easily. Ok, it does more today. But it's not a general purpose OS.
