Not sure about without Jivelite I have never used it like this I've

The Pi has no power off after shutdown, after you hit this button the Pi
will still be on and drawing power it will not restartable until power

Dosent look so hard, The TSOP IR Receiver when installed will be
connected to GPIO23 According to this article
https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=286230

You do not need any scripts just set the correct GPIO in the WEB GUI

To control Jivelite you need to create and upload a
linux-kernel-IR-remote-keytable

Hi Paul,

I replaced "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,noaudio" with "dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d"
in config.txt and all seems to work fine now.

When I posted the dmesg output before I left out a proceeding line which
read

Code:

rc rc0: two consecutive events of type space

In helping someone else with an IR remote I now realise that this was
CEC

This line still appears when I switch TV input but no longer get the

Code:

vc4_hdmi 3f902000.hdmi: Unknown register ID 58

Thanks for your help as usual !

I am using the vc4-kms-3d driver with noaudio

When I first change input on TV from pCP after booting I get a single
"vc4_hdmi 3f902000.hdmi: Unknown register ID 58"

This does not repeat on more input changes or poweroff of the TV

If I boot and then poweroff the TV I get the same "vc4_hdmi
3f902000.hdmi: Unknown register ID 58"

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0

2022-01-19 Thread Jeff07971

Hi All,
I use my TV for the display of Jivelite on my Pi2B, I have done this for
a good few years now without trouble until now.
Now if I select the input on the TV while the Pi is booting all works
fine until I change inputs on the TV.
If I change the input on the TV to another when I come back to the Pi
input my TV says "No Signal" "Not connected"

This is a relatively new problem and was working fine until an upgrade
(clean install) to pCP 8.0 or 8.1, not sure which TBH

I have uncommented "config_hdmi_boost=4" in config.txt

Code:

  # uncomment to increase signal to HDMI, if you have interference, blanking, or
  # no display
  config_hdmi_boost=4

but makes no difference, has anyone any ideas ?

Flirc is nothing to do with lirc, in fact if you're using a Flirc you
don't need lirc or ir keytables

If Flirc is not working you probably need to go to the Flirc forum and
work out what you're doing wrong.

Hi Greg,

I'm sorry to say I don't think it does work.

My system is now not clean installed but it does not appear there is an
output device.

I added "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,noaudio" to config.txt in order to get
the Video output working, which it did.

To test for you I removed the ",noaudio" from config.txt and rebooted

I then set SL to use HDMI via Web Gui and rebooted

after reboot SL was not running.

I SSH'd in :-

35226

Not sure how the HDMI should show up (I've never used or been interested
in it) but I don't think its here

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0

2021-07-13 Thread Jeff07971

Have clean installed pCP V8.0.0 on RPI 3B+ x 2

1st with RPI touchscreen, all is great including JL. Thanks !

2nd with HDMI output to TV (Video only Audio via HifiBerry DAC)

All works fine until I install JL, when the system boots I see the JL
splash screen and then nothing, no JL Setup page

With pCP versions before 7(?) I had to manually set the framebuffer
Resolution to 1920x1080 in config.txt
With V7 and V8 I set Res via WEB GUI
I checked that the config.txt was being edited by the GUI and it is.

Jivelite does seem to be running

35218

35219

Anyone have any ideas ?

As Kidstypike says, Has always worked for me also.
In fact have just installed pCP 8.0.0 and used it today.

When "Off" there is no visible button in my case (Screen Off and 0

I'm guessing the screen you have won't accept the resolution of the
default joggler skin.

Have you tried plugging into a TV and setting to an acceptable

I could not test as do not have your remote, but keytables has accepted

then reloaded my keytables via GUI and retested

Can you recheck yours ?

Then that suggests the new keytable is not being accepted and therefore
the new keytable is not being saved

I had this scenario (I think) when my conf file had an invalid format.

I will try and find the post, I think Ralphy found the error.

Hmmm

Yes I see you're point when I clear the keytable the remote stops
working immediately

Code:

  tc@SqueezeBox-Pcp-Lounge:~$ sudo ir-keytable -p all -c
  Old keytable cleared
Protocols changed to other lirc rc-5 rc-5-sz jvc sony nec sanyo mce_kbd rc-6
sharp xmp imon
  tc@SqueezeBox-Pcp-Lounge:~$

Something less obvious then I guess.

See it there is any difference

When using the Flirc USB Dongle you do not use lirc or keytables, the
FLIRC emulates a keyboard

So program the FLIRC dongle to send the appropriate keys for the remote
control operation you want

Hmmm Its not a simple regulator circuit then !

The EZ1085ACT is a simple 3 terminal regulator but its a 1-4v output in
a "simple" circuit

I really need the circuit diagram to work out how they're using it if
you have it

Dependent on what regulator is in there already yes but power (heat)
dissipation (temperature) will nearly double so this must be watched for
!

I do not think you'll easily get a transformer to replace this one but
the fact that it appears to be regulated will not help you.

What is the part number on the regulator (the TO220 Part attached to the
heatsink ?)

It is likely there is another issue which affects Jivelite also. I
discussed this with Ralphy some time ago but never found a solution.

The time it took to appear was hours to many days (never anything like
24) but only on screensaver (Photos or Clock) a once a week reboot has
virtually but not completely eliminated it

I can't say for certain but any USB Keyboard (which this seems to
emulate) should work fine

Well I use a GPIO connected IR reciever but you can use the Flirc USB
dongle to control Jivelite as well (I've done both), If you're not good
with a soldering iron it may be easier with the Flirc

You need to set the screen resolution to 1920 x 1080 in the Jivelite
settings in the Jivelite section of the pCP web setup page first.

After a reboot you can then use the HD Skin (1920 x 1080)

I do exactly what you want to do, I use IR remote though for control.

The most likely cause is that you're setting a skin resolution that the
display can't handle.

What screen and skin resolution are you trying to set ?

Well I never had any problems with pCP 6.1.0 / Jivelite it has always
been plug and play with the same TSOP38438 and SB3 remote !

You've got the expected signal from the TSOP so maybe the GPIO pin is
dead ?

Maybe try another GPIO ?

IR-Keytables is for Jivelite

LIRC is for Squeezelite

Install clean and config Jivelite and IR-Keytables

This will prove everything except software if it works

Have you tried setting up jivelite ?

If it works with Jivelite (IR-Keytables) then you know the receiver and

Do you have an oscilloscope to check the signal ? If not you can usually
see a change with a DVM. The modulation is slight but detectable.

The TSOP38348 is open collector output so should sit at roughly 3v3 and
drop to 0v for signalling, you won't see this with a DVM but you shoudl
see a slight change.

Of course it could be Pi/Software related but start at the source.

I've used the JB Remote with the 38Khz TSOP48438 receiver and it worked
fine.
If JB supplied the IR Receiver in their kit I'm sure it will be fine,
looking at the JB page it is indeed a 56Khz part

To answer your question there is no config for the "carrier" frequency

Use a 38Khz type IR Receiver, Examples being TSOP38238 and TSOP38438
(There are other types that work fine) I personally use the TSOP38438

https://www.vishay.com/search?searchChoice=part=tsop38438

Wire this to 0V (Pin 20), +3v3 (Pin17) and GPIO25 (Pin 22) and then you
can use the default IR-Keytables in pCP

There are a few ways to do this:-
Using virtually any linux on the Pi and as suggested using a kiosk mode
browser or Jivelite

By far the easiest is to use pCP running Jivelite with the player
(squeezelite) "switched off"
You can add an IR remote as well

I believe the system on SBC is SqueezeOS, Jivelite is I believe a cut
down "version" of this as Squeezelite is as a player.

I do not think Jivelite has direct access to networking in pCP so could
not do this.

It would be nice if I was wrong and it could be done though !

The RasPi Zero W has neither the DSI connector for the RPi Touchscreen
nor an Ethernet connector.

I realise these could be USB ethernet and a non DSI screen but just
flagging it.

Not sure that is particularly true, limiting outbound connections is a
security step that many do but you have to have the knowledge and
equipment to do it.

I set an internal (LAN) NTP server IP address in "Bootcodes" and it all
works fine for me

I do this as my network only allows the LAN NTP server to communicate
with external NTP servers so won't get the time with defualt settings

I just mounted a share from a Win 2019 server using only the pCP WEB
GUI, works absolutely fine

I still can't work out why you'd wan to mount a share from a server to
another server for that server to serve music when you could do it in
one step !

Hi Ralphy,

When I set that option the remote works correctly and toggles between on
and off and seems correctly "debounced"

As regards whether this is the same as the "When off" screensaver issue,
I'll reply on the other thread.

Thanks for that !

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] pCP 6: can't turn Jivelite *on* with Slim remote power button

2020-05-10 Thread Jeff07971

Hi Ralphy,

I have now tried 6.0.0 Standard (Thanks :D )

The behaviour is exactly the same with the default ir codes and the SB3
remote, it is also the same with my custom keytable the only difference
is scancode 0x6e1d = KEY_S (0x1f) rather than KEY_ESC (0x01)

I noticed that with the screen connected I have to press KEY_RIGHT at
least twice fast to switch "On" JL

I also tried the Justboom IR this behaves the same as the SB3 remote, IE
Only flashes "On" briefly when the power button is pressed.

Hope this helps

Let me know if you need anything else

Hi Ralphy,

I was playing with ir-keytables the other night to help out diode84 in
creating/using a conf file

I was a little rusty on this so was using a system with Jivelite but no
touchscreen (My Lounge Player) and monitoring using ssh (sudo
ir-keytable -t)
Once I had got what I needed to answer the question I thought I'd tryout
the power button on the remote after peterw's post.

On this system the power button on the remote does indeed toggle the
power on and off, this system uses a custom ir conf file (for my B119A
remote).
I reloaded the defualt conf file and the power still toggled (with my
SB3 remote)

This was odd as I've never been able to do this on my Bedroom system
which has a RPi Touch Screen (With pCP 6.0 anyway, I have a memory that
it may have worked on earlier versions but not sure, maybe lirc ?)

This morning I took my Bedroom system and burned a new 6.0.0 RC1 (Audio)
SD card, setup Jivelite and IR-Keytables and voila the power button did
NOT toggle the power
The screen flashes briefly but nothing else, I connected an LED to GPIO
13 and set up "Power On/Off GPIO" the LED flashed but never stays on
when using the power button however quickly the button is pressed.
If I use KEY_RIGHT the screen comes on and remains on, the LED remains
lit (Power is On)

I then removed the ribbon cable from the TS.
After this the power button DOES toggle the power/screen/LED

When I recconnect the TS the original behaviour comes back.

Could this be related to the problem noted here ?
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103330-Jivelite-for-piCorePlayer=972816=1#post972816
This also seems to depend on the connection of a touchscreen
