sodface wrote: > Great, glad you got it sorted. I'd be interested in any feedback you > have! I'm really quite impressed, so thanks for setting up the repo. I had a chance to buy a cheap 3040 so took the opportunity to free up an 8GB RPi4 from it's LMS duties so I can use it for other projects. I've set up the 3040 on a spare HD that had a backup of my music for testing, setting up Samba etc. Before I disconnect the RPi4 to swap disks, I'll do a full rescan and compare times taken. I've only set up the 3040 as an LMS box, so won't need it as a player. This little 3040 is a nice little box for 45 with PSU; it's quiet, runs cool and seems 'nippy' over ssh from a Q4OS Debian PC. It does take a relatively long time to boot/reboot compared to the RPi4, but that's more an inconvenience than a problem I'll report on any issues I have as time moves on, and possibly ask for help along the way. Hi Just set up LMS on Alpine on a Wyse 3040 using your repo. All is good until I need to install/update "libcrypt-openssl-rsa-perl" to support the Shairtunes plugin. I've tried apk search but am drawing blanks (I'm more used to Arch and Debian based distros. so I'm sure the issue is me!) Can you help? It was a while ago, but from memory, assuming you have 20.04 server up and running, andyour preferred LMS installed via dpkg -i: 1. Git clone https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor.git, from here https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor 2. As per the readme, sudo apt install the following (some of which may well be already installed): nasm make, gcc rsync patch g++ libc-bin zlib1g-dev libgd-dev libmodule-install-perl 3. cd to the CPAN directory (created in the clone process above) and run ./buildme.sh, as per the readme. 4. Assuming no errors, then cp the relevant directory, again as per the readme instruction 5. Start LMS by running sudo systemctl start logitechmediaserver 6. If all is well, sudo systemctl enable logitech mediaserver to autostart LMS on boot. If I can recall any other details, I'll edit this post, but the above should get you a running LMS. I believe that the slimserver-vendor github is 'managed' by Michael Herger, so he should be able to help with any issues... Good Luck! Thinking Ubuntu may be the problem, I subsequently installed Raspbian, hoping that that would solve the Shairtunes issue, but to no avail. However, I stuck with Raspbian, and have a server uptime of 57 days (we have a fair number of power outages in rural Northern France...) Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ubuntu 20.4
That tutorial is a bit misleading, as it is based on upgrading form a previous version to Ubuntu 20.04. On a fresh install you do not have to edit any init'd scripts, you just need to 'sudo systemctl enable logitechmediaserver' You can install any version after downloading the appropriate .deb file, then using 'sudo dpkg -i' You will, however, have some problems with perl versions, which can be overcome. Are you sure the LMS Servcie is running? At the command line, type: Code: systemctl status logitechmediaserver.service If it's not running, type: > systemctl enable logitechmediaserver.service Followed by: Code: systemctl start logitechmediaserver.service You may need to sudo these commands, depending on your user settings. I had something similar when my RPi was not getting sufficient power/volts to run it and the USB drive. Is your drive on a powered hub? Khadas Tone Board works fine in PCP as a USB device, and has done so for a couple of months without issue. However, I find it is improved with SPDIF input from an IQAudio Pi-Digi+, with only power via USB. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
Hi Paul I owe you an apology for wasting your time; It seems that the information on the Goodix touch controller was incorrect. It now appears that the Waveshare HDMI driven screens try and imitate the standard RPi displays, hence no need to install a driver, which is why I had to nothing more than set the resolution. Almost by accident, I found that if I unplug and re-plug the USB connector on the display, the touch facility works. Any ideas on this? All I have to do now is calibrate the screen... It is the 'c' version of the screen, with HDMI and USB connectors. Any other suggestions? Up to and including V3.50, the touch on the screen worked. However, with V4.0b7, there is no touch facility. Other than that, everything works fine. This is the entry I use in config.txt to enable the screen: Code: #Custom Configuration Area, for config settings that are not managed by pCP. #pCP will retain these settings during insitu-update #---Begin-Custom-(Do not alter Begin or End Tags)- # Added by APE for 7" screen hdmi_drive=1 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt 1024 600 60 6 0 0 0 #---End-Custom My pCP journey started at V3.21, so I may have done something in the early days with Jivelite etc that carried through to V3.5 during in situ upgrades; but with V4.0b* I had to flash a new image (in situ upgrade would not work; squeezelite would not start) Any help, pointers etc would be appreciated... Armed with this, I updated my Pi Zero without issue, it rebooted and 'preserved'my previous settings, so didn't need to alter anything. Just one question, I assume that the 'audio' kernel is not compatible with the piZero? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.5.0
Did 2 in situ upgrades (from 3.22); 1 on a Pi Zero W and 1 on a RPi2 (running an Allo Mini Boss and a Boss, respectively). Upgrade appeared to work, in that both systems rebooted and found the wifi etc, but in both instances, squeezelite was reported as stopped on the main page, and would not restart. LMS is running via Dietpi on an Allo Sparky SBC, version 7.9.0 - 1451894331 Where can I look for more information on what went wrong, and how to fix? Anything with an RT5572N chipset is pretty much plug'n'play on RPi's running most OS's.
