Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
Hi Guys, I am still using PCP 3.2 and have recently ran out of disc space on my attached usb drive. Rather than buying another drive I figured I should learn how to share a folder on my always on Windows 10 pc that still has plenty of drive space. I have set up a shared folder that I can see and add files to from my Mac but I cannot seem to get the folder to mount with PCP. I get as far as being able to see it as mnt point in LMS but when I browse the location it does not show any music files. As a result a rescan shows nothing from the shared file. Would someone please take a look at the screenshots and let me know what I am doing wrong? I have input my username and password but did not include them in this post for obvious reasons. Any help is appreciated... +---+ |Filename: Screen Shot 2018-08-09 at 10.56.37 AM.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25422| +---+ usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107352 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can PCP/LMS Do This?
One other app to try if you have an iPhone is iPeng. While it is primarily a remote for your squeezebox it also can turn your iPhone into a squeezebox player that can connect to your LMS server over cellular. I believe that Pippin has a tutorial on how to do this on his website for iPeng. I really think an app on a phone or tablet is the simplest way to get FLAC playback in your car. Some ANDROID devices accept micro sd cards that you can load up with up to 256 gbs of music if you didnÂt want to stream your music. Finally you could buy a purpose built music player like this one and see if it can work with your carÂs controls https://www.razordogaudio.com/products/sony-nw-wm1a-signature-series-walkman-digital-music-player-with-hi-res-audio-1?utm_medium=cpc_source=googlepla=53086338948=EAIaIQobChMIirnPldqN2gIVk2B-Ch3TDAxTEAQYASABEgKQPvD_BwE usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108853 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

If you use Google Music you will upload your music to Googles servers (up to 50k tracks I believe) and they will stream it back to you in mp3 format. No need to take up space on your device. If you want to use FLAC instead and you have an iPhone there is an app and service called VOX that gives you unlimited storage for $5 a month for your music. I think they can even handle hi-res if you are into that https://vox.rocks ---- usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108853 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can PCP/LMS Do This?
Will your car support the media controls within certain apps? My wife's 2015 Honda Pilot will work with all manner of apps on her phone and provide basic control from the steering wheel controls such as play, skip etc. For example, she can start a Spotify playlist on her phone and then be able to skip tracks and even view album art on the vehicle center display from her steering wheel controls. I believe but am not certain that it will do this via bluetooth connection in addition to the Iphone plugged in via lightning cable to the USB port. We have not tried an Android phone. My car, 2008 Infiniti G35S, will provide basic controls and some metadata (no artwork) as well when plugged in to the "Ipod" control. You may be able to load your FLAC music on your phone and utilize a third party app in the case of an Iphone to playback the music with full steering wheel controls. Many vehicles were programmed with basic music control of IPODS as they were the dominant music players and many of them can still control Iphones if you happen to use one of those. With my Iphone I have access to all of my FLAC music through Google Music. I believe Google Music stores my uploaded tracks as 320 kbps MP3 (which I know is not what you asked for but I personally cannot hear the difference between FLAC and 320 MP3 in a car driving down the road). With my vehicle controls and my phone hooked up to the IPOD input I have some control from the steering wheel. The google music application on my music computer watches my music folder and uploads any new additions automatically keeping my FLAC collection and MP3s in the cloud completely in sync. This is what I listen to whenever I want something that is not on Spotify. My biggest concern with Google Music is that gapless playback does not work well. You may be able to find a different app that you can use on your phone that will interface with your FLAC collection at home. ---- usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108853 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.10
So my rpi was unplugged by one of my kids last night and when I went to plug it back in today LMS did not just reboot. It started from the first screen asking for my mysqueezebox.com credentials and now it looks like I have to set everything back up including my favorites, plugins etc. Is this expected? Is there something I can do to locate the settings I had before it was unplugged? Going forward, what should I do to make sure this doesn't happen again? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Help mounting a drive with PicorePlayer
So after a nice long re-format and changing the file system to NTFS it appears to have worked! For the record, exFat is not a valid file system for usb sticks on picoreplayer. I am very glad to have this finally sorted out. usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107129 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Help mounting a drive with PicorePlayer
i just stuck in an extra usb stick I had that was formatted as exfat and it was able to read it and I was able to see my files in LMS. I was very excited to finally see my files in pcp even though it wasn't the drive I plan on using. I guess it doesn't like my 256gb drive. Now that I know that pcp can read a drive I have decided to reformat the 256gb drive as NTFS and will try again. Hopefully it will work this time. usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107129 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

They are formatted as exfat. What is the preferred format? [SlimDevices: Unix] Help mounting a drive with PicorePlayer
I have asked this before but I still cannot for the life of me get my music to show up in Picoreplayer 3.11. I am trying to use either a 256 gb usb stick or a 3tb powered external drive but have had no luck. [SlimDevices: Unix] Mounting LMS library on external hard drive with Picoreplayer
Total linux noob here with a simple question that I can't seem to sort out. I am trying to use Picoreplayer and have downloaded and installed LMS on it.
