(https://www.meridian-audio.com/product-support/earlier-products/dacs/explorer2/#faqs-5whenplayingmqafilestheappropriateledontheexplorer2onlyilluminateswheniturnthevolumeuptomaximumwhyisthis) This is because your audio player produces bit-perfect audio only when its built-in volume control is set to maximum. To overcome this, leave the players volume control on maximum and use the volume control on the computer itself. This will adjust volume within the Explorer 2 and the MQA LED will stay on. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
I have recently upgraded my DAC from Topping D90 to a Gustard x26 Pro. I am running v8.0 on an underclocked 8GB RPI4 with a PI2AES providing outputs via coax, optical, AES and IIS. All sound great but after a while the sound cuts and the Gustard appears to lose lock. This can be 30 mins or after being run overnight. PCP is still running, restarting squeezelite does nothing but it works after a reboot. This happens on all outputs from the PI2AES. It does not happen with the Topping. The RPI is running at 56C. I am not sure if its the DAC, RPI4, PI2AES or PCP. Has anyone experienced something similar? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Hi, I'm trying to get a piCorePlayer running on a new Rpi 4b (4G) using the internal wifi. I installed 8.0.0 and it came up working as expected using an Ethernet connection. I am able to see it on my LMS server and use the web page interface. For now I am using the headset jack audio. But when I try to set it up on WiFi I get nowhere. It never shows a connection, and when I scan (using the web page WiFi settings), it never shows anything. I have tried the User Maintained and the Maintained by piCorePlayer methods talked about in the help section. Here is the wpa_supplicant.config using the later... # Maintained by piCorePlayer ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=staff # Two Character Country Code country=US update_config=1 network={ ssid="yourssid" psk="password" key_mgmt=WPA-PSK auth_alg=OPEN } except that I of course use my ssid and psk. I use Notepad++ to edit the file and save it to the root (where the wpa_supplicant.config.example is). I don't have any special characters in the ssid or password. I've tried booting it without the ethernet connected (never connects over wifi) and with the ethernet then trying the scan on the web interface. Scan is empty. I've also tried changing and saving settings through the web interface as well. I can never get any scan results. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe its generally a better idea to go with a smaler httpd solution urknall's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67774 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
is there any chance for an apache2 - php 7 extension? pCP was designed to do one task, and do it easily. Ok, it does more today. But it's not a general purpose OS. I'd say you better use Raspberry Pi OS if you need a full fledged web server. -- ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Your welcome to try at your own risk :) Plug it into the a pCP rpi usb 2 socket Reboot the rpi, go to the Squeezelite Settings select USB as Audio output, save and follow the instructions. @JESSICA_KH and @GARYM from the manual Digital input sampling frequencies supported 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz Digital Input 1/2 Press Select again to select Digital Input 1. Note that rather than exact word width, some sources report data as either 20 bit maximum (displayed as < = 20) or 24 bit maximum (displayed as < = 24). But to be clear, when you run Tidal master from the PC USB, you connect the PC USB output to the converter, then from the converter, you connect OPTICAL cable to the DAC? I recently updated my router and I wanted to use http://picorelms.local to get to picoreplayer version 8 from my Windows 10 laptop, using Edge. All I get is a blank page. The icon on the tab changes to include the pCP logo so it is doing something. Connecting using the ip address works fine. However, using picorelms.local on my ipad does work, ie the main page. The Display has a 1280 x 400 resolution and I got it working perfekt under pcp 7.0. It took me a lot of time to change all lines in Grid and in JogglerSkin. I even adjusted all icons to have a perfect view. 35471 The only menu I didn't get working is the search menu. I don't know, how to change the dimensions of the virtual keybord. Today I had some additional tests with pcp 8.0 and got it working with a pi2B+ and a normal display (800x480). But even here there were some blackscreens after changing the skin. Now the installation runs without issues. It is no problem with the tricky display and pcp 8.0 - I use 7.0 and I'm very satisfied with this display and above all, with the perfect player piCore. Hallo Paul, thanks a lot for the response. Unfortunatly in my fresh installation those settings were not there. The hardware volume did not work. I can see this on a small OLED that is connectet to the dac. With additional entrys in various options on sqeezelite page the hardwarevolume worked. So I looked to the older versions to see, what's different. In "Squeezelite command string - more" in the WebGui I could see, that the commandstrings where different. So I tried adding some commands and it worked. All 3 were fresh pcp installations and that's why I wondered about the differences. I did't make any changes, only settet the dac. I'm not so familiar with squeezelite commands. Never mind - it works. mini11's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71915 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Yesterday I tried to run one of my players with with Audiophonics I-Sabre Q2M dac with the new pcp 8.0 (fresh install, no update). After I had configured squeezelite, the hardware volume of the dac did not work by changing volume on display or with justboom ir-remote. There was only software volume control. So I compared the squeezelite command strings that are setted after adjusting the dac in squeezelite. Here is the result: piCore 6.1: /usr/local/bin/squeezelite -n " Player " -o hw:CARD=DAC -a 80:4::1: -D -D -v -V Digital piCore 7.0: /usr/local/bin/squeezelite -n " Player " -o hw:CARD=DAC -a 80:4::1: -v piCore 8.0: /usr/local/bin/squeezelite -n " Player" -o hw:CARD=DAC -a 80:4::1 The dac only runs with all functions if the settings are like in pcp 6.1. Music can be played with all of the 3 settings but the additional functions are not availible in 7.0 and 8.0. Adding "-D -v -V Digital" to Various Options of the squeezelite configuration page solved the problem in pcp 8.0. mini11's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71915 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

If the kernel is at /home/tc/kernel, likely you have run out of memory. The kernel should be stored on a persistent drive. Can you plug in a USB drive to do the work? Hi, Upgraded 7.0.1 -> 8.0.0 on an RPi 2B with a Realtec 8188eu wifi dongle (so I know I have to compile firmware). Currently, PCP is running with Ethernet connected. The Pi is up, I can play music (well, I don; have speakers where I have Ethernet, but LMS is not complaining). However, the web server seems not to be running, so I cannot connect over http. I can ssh and do everthing there, but not through a browser. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Well not fully automatic Press the "Manual Update" button. Since you are changing versions, the automatic update check from within LMS does not work. But the upgrade links from with the update script do pull and load the correct version. Thanks Paul for the clarification! You're right, of course. The LMS built in update checker would NOT get you the next dev version. This is confusing even me with each release :-). Basically you'd never get the next dev release automatically unless what you've installed already is more recent than the latest release. So if you were on 8.2, you'd stay on 8.2. You then have to take the step to the dev version manually after each release to get past the released revision. Thereafter you'd be on the right branch and stay there until the next release. ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

With the original pCP mmap=1 only worked in some circumstances, so the default was mmap=0. Then for many years, mmap=1 worked for everything, so it was set as the default. Then we noticed with recent kernels, mmap=1 doesn't always work in all circumstances. So for sound cards Headphones and b1 configuration files, we set mmap=0. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Update ... I now have it working. In options I added sec=ntlm and changed vers to 1.0 from 2.0 I already had username=guest (from getting it to work with pCP7). So my full options now read sec=ntlm,uid=1001,gid=50,vers=1.0 There may well be other ways of getting there. Old CIFS defaulted to sec=ntlm - but current defaults to sec=ntlmssp So I have forced it to work the old way. Using vers=2.0 (which worked with pCP7) did not work here because mount reported a "bad option" - presumably it did not like the combination of various things. I also tried with sec=none and it gave me the same error - which I thought was odd. But maybe the other end tried to negotiate it upwards. for me (Ubuntu 20.04.2), lsmod does *not* show hmac as a loaded module. I tried installing a perl-hmac something but that had no effect. Not sure how to get hmac loaded. This is a new problem for me though at pcp 8.0 (all worked at 7.0.1). I know that 3.1.1 (or 3.11?) is supported - when I connect from windows to this samba share and check the dialect/version (Using powershell command Get-SmbConnection), I see: Code: ServerName ShareName Dialect NumOpens -- - --- musicman IPC$ 3.1.11 and when I query from the linux side (smbstatus, to show the above windows connection) I see this: Code: PID Username Group Encryption --- 119890 tom tomSMB3_11 I have tried the following versions (vers=x.x, complete options: uid=1001,gid=50,vers=x.x) with no good results, the complete mount command that shows the error is this (for example): mount -v -t cifs -o username=xxx,password="xx",uid=1001,gid=50,vers=3.11 //192.168.5.163/"pcp" /mnt/musicmanbackup Note I can see that the username /password are correct. Code: version (vers=x.x)note --- - 2 unknown version 2.0 (message as in previous post, "Could not allocate crypto hmac(sha256),Error -2 during NTLMSSP authentication ") 2.1 (message as above) 3.0 (message as above) 3.1 unknown version 3.11 (message as above) 3.1.1 (message as above) Sorry if I am being stupid, just looking for ideas. Happy to ssh in and try things as well - I've tried the mount command above with no luck ("mount: /mnt/musicmanbackup: special device //192.168.5.163/pcp does not exist."). My smb.conf on the linux side does have a pcp share, and I have used it in Windows (and previously in pcp7.0.1). I realize the problem could be on the linux side but it did work with pcp 7.0.1. Samba4 is a server, it has nothing to do with client connections to a remote server. CIFS is the file system. Between the note in dmesg, and the help that is in pCP, you should see that you are missing the vers=x.x on the mount options. Where x.x is the version supported by the remote. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. piZeroW, just did an in-situ upgrade from 7.0.1 to 8.0.0. piCorePlayerZero | piCorePlayer v8.0.0 | www v00017 | linux 5.10.42-pcpCore (32) | piCore v13.0 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1386-pCP Music plays fine.
