Re: [libreoffice-users] Index of Tables doesn't update

2014-01-11 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić

LibreOffice 4.0 or LibreOffice 4.1?

Works fine for me with 4.0.6 on Debian Wheezy.

Does tables have captions? Check again how Index of tables is inserted,
try delete it and insert it again.

I can't do better, sorry!

Re: [libreoffice-users] LO text

2013-11-18 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić
Well, I think there's always some kind of formatting enabled, you can't
kill styles.

But - if I understood right you are trying to have some lines (those
five items) numbered but after hitting enter you wont to write normally
until that second item, right? Then you wont a number again, is that right?

I done it by hitting F11, docking the new window by dragging it to the
left, going to Paragraph style (first icon) and right clicking to a
Default style then choosing Modify. Next you should go to Indents &
Spacing tab and remove tick from Automatic.

Then click OK. Again right click on Default style and now choose New.
Name the style, go to Outline & Numbering tab and from Numbering style
drop-down menu choose Numbering 1. Go to Organizer tab and for Next
style choose Text body.

When you need to number a paragraph you choose newly made style, you
write what you wont and when you click enter it will make new paragraph
Text body so it will look just like newly defined but without numbers.

When you would like to have numbers again - just double click newly
defined style.

That's the way I'm doing it because I like to have paragraphs instead
hitting shift + enter. So, all you need is two styles...

A hope I understood right what you are trying to achieve.

Maybe you should walk this poster through "design a style".

I have been using LO since "day one" but never designed a style and really

You can't, but you can modify default style as you wish and save that
document as a template _and make that template default_ so when ever you
open LibreOffice you'll be working with your custom styles.

Set the styles you wont and apply them to your title page. Make sure
that title page has different page styles then rest of the document.

Word's title pages are also a preset templates of different styles. once
you're finish with formating, save it as template so you can easily
reuse it. Word has them preset, in LO you have to do it yourself - but
only once.

Options in Format - First page might help.

Re: [libreoffice-users] bibliography after endnotes

2013-08-28 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić
I don't know which operation system and LO version are you using but on
4.0.5 on Linux the section for main content does the trick - I can put
main content in a section, and in a section properties tick Collect at
the end of section, Restart numbering, Custom format. Adding an endnote
attaches it to a end of a section, and I can do Alt + Enter to exit that
(main) section and make manual break with Ctrl + Enter so Bibliography
can be added to a new page. It all works with double spaces (for
endnotes and main text).

Just wonted to tell you that because maybe changing the LO version would
solve your problems. Also, see here:

The only way of placing the bibliography after the endnotes in correct

double spacing is applied.

Does this method bode well for MS Word compatibility? Is there a
better method?

Many thanks,

Yes. Citations are just fields (each field in LO has plain-text fallback value,
so it does not have to be recalculated and can be displayed by software not
understanding it). Bibliography is plain text in section.

The hard part starts when you want the other person to change your document

[libreoffice-users] Bibliography entry system and word/character counting

2013-08-17 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić

Hi,

think that LO should have (a little bit) better bibliography entry
system. Every thing works just fine, but I miss some features with thing
I'm writing now.

When I do Insert - Indexes an tables - Bibliography entry I can insert
entry from the document or from Bibliography database. Thing is that the
reference system I use require shortening of textnotes:

Some text some text [author, year_of_publishing: page_of_citation], some
text from the same author and the same book, just another page, so I
should not enter authors name (short name from bibliography database), I
should put word "ibid." instead [ibid: page].

Now I can't insert [ibid: page] as field or to relate it somehow with
bibliography field inserted above. Since that kind of reference is not
field, if I change something in my document, I need to hunt all these
inserts and change it manually to [author, year: page] format because
[ibid...] works only if the first reference before [ibid...] is from the
same author and the same book.

Think that feature should be added to LO: Insert - Indexes and tables -
Bibliography entry and the dialog box should have some additional
fields: check box and empty text box. Now, I should be able to choose a
bibliography entry from bibliography database, then chose that new check
box and enter the word I wont to display in document. Chosen
bibliography entry from dialog box should be related to the word from
text box.

LO should connect [ibid:page] with [author, year: page] and display
[ibid:page] only if right above Bibliography entry (as field) is the
same one we connected earlier. If I change the document and remove above
bibliography entry field, [ibid:page] should change to [author, year:page].

I'm forced to use [ibid: page] and I'm unable do it as fields - now I
have to hunt down every manual [ibid:page] I make.

Is there way to do this?

Also, think it should not be a problem to add some additional
information in the same place with word and character count. Think it
would be nice if we had:

Words (characters) [cards] | 1249 (7568) [4,204]

Look here (well, I'm not writing in Serbian but idea of typography card
stays the same):

http://www.proz.com/forum/money_matters/126748-equivalent_of_characters_including_spaces_in_words.html#1047157

Now I have to open KCalc over and over again. Think that should not be
very complicate to add?

You do the outline numbering with Chapter, Heading 1 , ... with normal
outline numbering. You need to define a paragraph style "Chapter" and
alter the assignment between paragraph style and level in the outline
numbering dialog.

LibreOffice uses the field "Number range" for numbering in captions.
Therefore these are not at all in the outline numbering. But when you
insert a caption to a table or figure, you will see a Options-buttons.
There you can tell LibreOffice to count newly for each chapter.

The "caption" item in the context menu is only a shortened way to set a
caption. You can also write your own caption inserting the field
"Number

range" manually. That will be the right way for numbering formulas.

The Autotext FN puts the formula and the formula-numbering in a
table. I

would not use it, because it is not easily possible to move paragraphs,
when the movement crosses a table. I would position the formula number
using a tab. For display formulas in own paragraphs you can define a
suitable paragraph style.

The captions are normal paragraphs, so you can add the needed brackets
manually as you need them.

Each "Number range" will generate its own index later on.

The numbers of the outline can be inserted using fields.

Do not try to mimic the way things are done in Word, the concepts are
different. But you can be sure, that you can write well formatted
academic papers in LibreOffice.

Kind regards
Regina

Using LibreOffice internal captions or "Number range" has some problems
that MUST be solved to be used:

1. Cross-Reference in the text body: Assume you has inserted a new
"Number range" named "Fig" either using "Caption" or inserting manually.
Regardless of the need to manually correct brackets and the whole
format, when you want to insert the Fig number in your text using
Cross-reference, there is NO way to insert the whole Fig number while
preserving its format. For example if you has entered the text "Fig
(2.1) something" under a picture, there is no way to automatically
insert "Fig (2.1)" in your text using Cross-reference.

I first must admit that I didn't read this whole thread and I'm not
sure what you actually need, but think you can insert text "Fig (2.1)"
in a cross reference.

I hope I understood you well and I really wont to help you:

First you should insert your picture and set anchoring as Regina said.
Then insert text "Fig." after that go Insert - Cross-reference, choose
Variable tab and there (in format box) select Text, enter e.g "(2.1)"
and then write rest of the caption text.

Now select only "Fig. (2.1)" or what ever you need and go to
Cross-reference tab, choose Set reference, enter it's name in Name
box, and choose Insert.

Place your cursor in desire position and then in Cross-reference tab
choose insert reference, select reference, and in a white box left to
the Name select Reference, hit Insert.

I hope that's what you wont to do. You still have to manually insert
Variables and set cross-reference, but you sort the brackets problem.

Kruno

And, you can always define a custom style for that "Fig (2.1)" variable
text and then go Insert - Indexes and tables - Indexes and tables -
Additional styles, choose three dots right to label and define that
style to level you need...

Not sure does thins helps you, but hey... :)

For now, working in Writer, only capability is the manual insertion of a

That is done, while completing a paragraph, by immediate keyboard entry of
a triplet of: - (dash), _ (underscore), = (equal), * (asterisk) ,

* Improved color palette: In MS office powerpoint noticed that I can

the font

color and background color - fill a shape and generally where I have to
choose color. If he has, is good to have and the corresponding
option and

buttons that it font color and click th is for color filling.

A feature to be able to specify a custom font color.
This would require a search at the LibreOffice bugzilla in case it is
already filed.
I am not sure if LibreOffice uses the OS palette widget, which in
this case

it would be an issue to enable in that palette the ability to select a
custom color.

* Ability to select multiple images Admission: Once I Insert image from
Impress allow me to introduce only a picture. The corresponding
choice of
MS office gives me can choose more than one insert images. In
LibreOffice

need to enter one by one while ms office I can Enter all together

A feature to multi-select images when inserting an image to a
document. I

think this should be an easy-hack. If there is no bug report already on
this, a feature request should be filed first. Again, it should be an
issue

of enabling the multiple-file selection for FileOpen, and adjust
LibreOffice to accept multiple images into the document.

Where I do feature request?

* standards may be stored in the "closed format": When becomes a

and some bullets do not look good when you re open the Impress.
Which does

not help either document sharing and either in migration in LibreOffice.

This is a request for compatibility with the presentation templates
(.ppx),

which in some cases they are not rendered correctly in LibreOffice. Here
there should be a bug report (or more) on specific issues on .ppx files
which are not used properly in LibreOffice. The bug report should
specify a

.ppx, and how it is used wrongly in LibreOffice.

Where I do report the bug?
* Ability to save as image: At the Ms office Powerpoint noticed that
I can

select text or an object and save it as a picture thing to do a group
picture along with other images
and text and save it as an image thing that helps especially do logos on
site. It would have been and this feature the LibreOffice Impress.

This is a feature request to be able to save a selection from a
document,
into an image. The selection would either be a paragraph or text
along with

images or other objects.
I think this could be implemented through an addon.

Personally i do not blame Impress. I just want the LibreOffice be
worthy
replacement for MS Office because I believe in the idea of free
and open
source and I want to contribute. If there some of them would like
to tell

me where to Impress. Still will like if some of the above features are
developed for future versions LibreOffice."

In all these issues, I think Dimitris can search the LibreOffice

a new

Then, post the URLs for those reports to the list in order for the

left margin by 5 default LO units, combination Alt+R+3 should crop right
margin by 3 default LO units and so on? It's hard to work with dialog
boxes if you have a lot of cropping to do...

Thanks

I would definitely use more columns for this. Possibly in groups of 3
perhaps with an extra column as an empty gap to make it easier to

'portrait' in case i needed to print it out.

So, something like
Column A = time, for it's heading i would use the date or the
day-of-the-week
Column B = value, for it's heading i would say something like
"Imported data" (perhaps turned sideways or something?)
Column C = calculated code (instead of colour), for it's heading i
would say "code"
Column D = calculated value, for it's heading i would say something
like "Result"
Column E = blank but narrowed to half width or less. It's often handy
to have an extra column "just in case" but it's main purpose is to
split the groups of columns up

Column F = time, for it's heading i would use the date or the
day-of-the-week
Column G = value, for it's heading i would say something like
"Imported data" (perhaps turned sideways or something?)
Column H = calculated code (instead of colour), for it's heading i

I will try that in Calc.

The currently uploaded file's layout looks a bit random so it might
help to make it more formal even though that takes a bit of the magic
out of it, as does losing the colours and replacing with "Code".

Well that ods file is just example, as I mentioned before. I do
not have document created. This is just a preparation and because
of that file from nabble is a scheme. Thats the reasen Im using
this mailing list. Just wonna know is posible add values/numbers
based on cell background color.

We can say that Column A is one day and column B is another. We
can say thats needed the rows represents time of the day (morning,
noon, evening). So, first I need to fill column A and rows
respective to the column, and another day rows resprective to
column B.

This weather thing is the closest to what Im doing, and i really
doubt I could explain it on the real project. Is it possible do
edit xml file or something and do it with some find/repleca - if
in xml file founded line "background color:red" "devide by 2.7"
and put that number betwen string x and string y?

Thanks for your time!

No, there is no build-in function to get the color of a cell. You need
to write a macro. The background color is the property
"CellBackColor". It is set, when you color the cell directly and when
you color it by style as well.

You can use macro functions in nearly the same way as the build-in
functions.

I can not enter summed, devidded or multiplied values directly to collum
because I need to initials values summed (for each collum) so I want to
set some kinde of formula to a different place in sheet with modified
values. Maybe it can be done with sumif?

Maybe I am doing it wrong, maybe it can be done different way?

I would not put such information as color to the cell, but I would use
a separate, parallel column, which only contains these flags; not as
color but as values, which you can use directly in a build-in function.

Kind regards
Regina

Nice - I really could use numbers in different collumn insted of colors
- thats practicly it.

Make new page styles. Make one (e.g) "first_in_master", and rest of them
put as "first_page". The header for style "first_in_master" should be
presented only in that one, not on first pages of sub-documents.

I assume you are making master with documents which are made from
different tamplates. Best way to do master is make one template,
reorganize all sub-documents and than make master. Master formating
applays will re-redit document formating if called the same name. If
first page of master documents has page style "first_page", and first
page of sub-document is called "first_page" those will have "first_page"
header.

Hopes this will work.

If - as is now evident - the calculations you want to do require
knowledge of those averages, they also need to be included in the
spreadsheet as a separate table. Then you can leave your calculations
to the spreadsheet - which is the whole idea of them, of course.

... and thus I doubt I can set a second - or the second one would be
bigger and far more complex that the primary one.

Sorry: I don't understand this bit.

Values for the secend table can expand - start with 5 average values, in
2 months there can be 12 values, or the original five can change. New
values needs to replace old ones for coresponding condition but should
not erese or recalculate values calculated with old (original) 5. :D

Now, imagine you need sum only the values (temperature) that is above
average for this time of the year and below average of that month.
[...] So I must say that I am now sure if sumif can handle that.

Provided you have the various average values listed in the
spreadsheet, the SUMIF() function can easily achieve what you need.

I do not need sum numbers higher or lower from x, ...

Er what's "x", please?

X is rondom number.

... I need sum number collected from the real world and those are
quite random.

You are tying yourself in knots here: no-one is suggesting that your
values should not be "random", as you put it. But if you need to do
calculations that depend on certain values, those values (in this case
your averages) need to appear in your spreadsheet. Otherwise you are
asking Calc to read your mind!

Yes: why not just describe what you are *actually* doing?! (There is
no need to divulge anything confidential.)

Tom uploaded file I sent him ... . [...] But if the value is higher
then the year average and smaller then month average I put it green,
if the value is lower then the year average and higher the month
average I put in red, if the value is equal to year average and month

A quick look at this confirms, I think, what I suggested in a previous
message. What you are doing is to compare your input values to other
values - not currently in the spreadsheet - and to colour the cells
according to the result of your mental arithmetic. That comparison is
something that spreadsheets do easily and reliably but humans less
so. So that is a bad move: let the spreadsheet do this for you. You
are also choosing to encode the result of these comparisons as colours
of cells - something that is immediately meaningful to the human eye
but very difficult for the spreadsheet to use!

Now, if cell is colored red, I divide it by 2. If the cell is blue i
multiply that value (in blue) with 1.5, and if green I do plus
operation (x(blue) + y).

I can't see these aspects in the sample spreadsheet you submitted. Do
you mean that you applied these calculations *before* you entered the
data? (I hope not.)

Here is what I suggest:
o Enter all your raw data into the spreadsheet. This includes the
averages (or whatever they are) that you are currently using (in your
head) to determine which colour the cells should have.
o Evaluate what you currently have as colours within the spreadsheet,
either within other formulae or as values in additional columns.
o You appear to need the sum of a series of products to calculate what
you need, so SUMIF() is probably not the best way. Instead, you may
find SUMPRODUCT() useful, but this depends on exactly how you design
your sheet.

Note that these suggestions do not need you to colour the cells at
all. If you still decide to colour them, I recommend that you do so
using "conditional formatting" (found in the Format menu), based on
values you will now have in the spreadsheet. This will be more
reliable that manual formatting.

Note also that, if you don't want to see all the additional values

[libreoffice-users] Summing a cell value by a backgroud color cell style

2013-03-25 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić

Hello,

I need to make a Calc table. Table is "structured" verticly. Tables sums
number values from collums in the last row of table. Every collum stands
for itself, and has nothing do do with oder collums.

But values are enterd in collum by different variables. I have set
different cell background color for every variable. Is there a way to
tell Calc to sum, devide or multiply values by the cell style color?

I can not enter summed, devidded or multiplied values directly to collum
because I need to initials values summed (for each collum) so I want to
set some kinde of formula to a different place in sheet with modified
values. Maybe it can be done with sumif?

Maybe I am doing it wrong, maybe it can be done different way?

Sory for bad english, I can explain more in depth if necessary.

Spell checking works. Words get underlined, repleaced if spelling is wrong...
Thesaurus (can`t click it in Tools>Language or with ctrl + F7) and Hyphenation
are problematic ones...
Tools>Options>Languages Settings>Writin Aids>Available Language Modules>Edit
sayes I
have croatian spelling (Hunspell Spellchecker) and Hyphenation (Libhyphen
Hyphenator) and
spell checher works, hyphenation doesn`t and thesaurus doesn`t have anything in
that section.

Somebody on Croatian Ubuntu forum told some other guy with that probem to
install something for
Ubuntu, not LibreOffice. Guy did it and thing worked. I can`t find that file in
my repos.

Hyphenation should juist work while typing, like spell checker, is that right?

Thank you for your patience!

No particular reason, juist didn`t. If I don`t get it working I`ll try
from this site and yes, I can choose Croatian version from this link.

Already have that installed but nothing hapens.

Well, I have installed a lot of things, and I can get Croatian in
Tools/Options/Language Settings/Writting Ads/ Available language modules/Edit
listed but for some reasons I can`t get it thicked. I choose
croatian and than click close and when I go again on Edit it is
still/again english. Spellchecking is good it`s undelining words and
automaticly correct them. In Available language modules HunspellSpellChacker
and Libhyphen Hyphenator are thicked. Maybe I juist don`t
now how to use? I choose Automatic hyphnation in paragraph style and typing
to the end of the line but it is not braking words it`s put them in new row.

It is breaking the words if I put ctrl + (hyphen)-, but I get it done
automaticly...

No thesaurus (greyout) and hyphnation is avaliable in
Tools/Language/Hyphenation but nothing hapens when I click it, message
is thats work is done, but nothing get changed. I can`t choose croatian in
/Tools/Language/For Paragraphs and /Tools/Language/For All text, only in "for
selection"

In Tools/Options/Language Settings/Languages I have Croatian for Locale
settings and in Default languages for documents.

Tools/AutoCorrect options I have Croatian selected.

Il will try to reinstall LO from link you gave me when will have some spare
time.

Hope you can read my ban english with lot of croatian syntax constructions :D

Thanks,

Kruno

[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice croatian hyphnation

2012-05-15 Thread Krunoslav Šebetić

Hello!

I have problem with hyphnation in LibreOffice 3.4.6 installed on Debian
Squeeze from backports.

Debian Squeeze comes with OpenOffice 3.2 I think. So I purged it and
installed LibreOffice from Debian backports (3.4.6). Now, in Debian
repos is openoffice-hyphnation-hr, but I can not install it because it
depends on OpenOffice Writer witch is not installed on my machine. Tryed
with mythes, myspell and some other things (libreoffice-l10n-hr) but
can not get it working. In Debian I can not add a Ubuntu ppa and install
it that way. It looks like a LibreOffice hyphnation files are present in
Wheezy repos, but not in Squeeze. They named it
"openoffice-hyphnation-hr" and that breaks the install. They should put
that hyphnation and thesaurus files in Squeeze backports didn`t they?

I managed to find dict-hr in LibreOffice portable (3.4.3) with
hyph_hr_HR.dic file, and now - can I just copy that folder (and file) in
a right place, rename some paths and that everything works fine?

Thanks,

Kruno

Have you tried to change owner? If you are the only user try this: sudo
chown

 = your login name
= location of the font (end of the location must end
with the full name of the font
e.g. /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-liberation/liberationmono.ttf)

After that try to use

For me works: fc-cache -fv

You might need to use that comand like sudo user.

Hope that will work

Hey,

This is my first mail and I am hopping not doing something wrong...

Think PDF-function is related to the size of the document. I have always
use that function on smaller documents, recently I had to convert file
of 1200 pages - it breaks. I manage my probem diferently, pasted text to
Geditn, add and and now I am using that as a web-page. It
is fast and easy.

But I am not finding that as a problem, who does 1200 pages on every day
basis? Although never tried on a document with 200 pages - I think LO
must be able to convert kind of file to PDF.
