Leander, that seems to be just the ticket! Looks like that's solved the issue at first sniff, but I'll have more time to poke around tomorrow and make sure it's all happy. Thanks again, and I'll post back when I've had more time to run it through its paces. Thanks! I guess that I am just surprised that we have not had a new kernel for a while. I don't think you have a route for the 192.168.11.0/24 network. While you added an alias to your NIC (enp2s0:0) and an IP address for that alias (192.168.11.1), you have not added a route for that network so it's using your default route (which goes out 192.168.1.1). You'd need to add a route via: ip route add 192.168.11.0/24 dev enp2s0:0 to force it. You should also be aware that if the web server you're trying to hit is on THIS machine, simply adding an alias/IP to the NIC and adding a route won't work if that network manipulation was done after the web server was started. The web server typically starts listening on the IP addresses that are up at the time the webserver starts, and you have to make sure it uses something like Apache's "httpd.conf" file: Listen *:80 OR Listen 80 Ngnix's "nginx.conf" file: listen 80; to make sure it listens on port 80 for ALL of the IPs on the machine. You can see which IPs the server is listening on by using: netstat -lpnt OR ss -lpnt and looking at the local address parts of the display. If the local address is "0.0.0.0:", then it's listening on all IPs on the machine. -- - Rick Stevens, Systems Engineer, AllDigitalri...@alldigital.com - - AIM/Skype: therps2ICQ: 226437340 Yahoo: origrps2 - -- - "Celibacy is not hereditary." - - -- Guy Goden - -- ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/VVT4KQMB7UHN5YMDBUNUOW6KWZ2KF6OM/

I'm following the terminology used in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_tunneling, which is also used by my VPN provider (ExpressVPN) and others (e.g. NordVPN). (ExpressVPN actually support split-tunneling, but only for Windows and MacOS.) None of these mention load-balancing or using different tunnels for transmit and receive. Of course it wouldn't be the first time a technical term is overloaded with several meanings. poc ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/UBHYQJXU2PYTXEOWEL73WG2PKFLWLCSL/

No, not exactly. That is more an example of the use of multiple routes. Destination-A goes through gateway-A Destination-B goes through gateway-B All-else goes through default-gateway... Either GW-A or GW-B could be VPN. Split-tunneling is more that transmit and receive use different tunnels, Or traffic to SAME destination is load-balanced over multiple, parallel tunnels. "> tricky part, which I haven't tried to solve, is that you can't resolve > private DNS entries from the VPN connection." VPN-server processes can push routing info, and DNS-server addresses. AFAICR systems accept three DNS-resolvers. This can be tricky. If the VPN-process pushes three resolvers, the old ones will be gone (while the tunnel exists), Thus you are unable to resolve NON-vpn-URL's. Situation can get even more complicated, when using split-horizon DNS. Same URL with internally, and externally different IP-addresses. ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/IWARJZCPHY6Y6USNYS6Z7HJS72Q63LED/ Dit bericht kan informatie bevatten die niet voor u is bestemd. Device defaults -
It seems too often I struggle with the problem of dealing with a device that, when "reset" or new, is on a different subnet and my computer address needs to change temporarily for the device to be accessedwith the Firefox browser long enough to change the device address too something in my 192.168.1.xxx range. What is the simplest way to do that with Fedora 27 or 28,NetworkManager? My immediate problem is that I have an Buffalo router /have been using as an ethernet bridge for a long time and I forgot the address I assigned to it and I can't access it. It came with dd-wrt. I t looks to me like I need to reset it to gain access with the browser. /Bob -- Bob Goodwin - Zuni, Virginia, USA http://www.qrz.com/db/W2BOD box10 FEDORA-27/64bit LINUX XFCE Fastmail POP3 ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/X2OWCOTI43GC6EABXUUNBWBAH4FZAAAS/

[389-users] Having problem setting a read only replica (different database generation ID)
Hello, I had an DS instance with data. I had problem setting a read only replica. The master server can connect to the slave but it had problem initialize the slave. I had tried to use the same method to create another slave instance in the master server (using a different port) Replication does not start. The error message is the same. For both cases, the slave instances are brand new, it is empty without any data. slapd-cms1 (master) [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.362357876 +0800] - DEBUG - NSMMReplicationPlugin - repl5_inc_run - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389): State: backoff -> backoff [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.367449793 +0800] - DEBUG - NSMMReplicationPlugin - conn_connect - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389) - Trying non-secure slapi_ldap_init_ext [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.369104649 +0800] - DEBUG - NSMMReplicationPlugin - conn_connect - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389) - binddn = cn=replicator,cn=config, passwd = [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.372538122 +0800] - INFO - NSMMReplicationPlugin - bind_and_check_pwp - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389): Replication bind with SIMPLE auth resumed [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.374333105 +0800] - DEBUG - NSMMReplicationPlugin - conn_cancel_linger - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389) - No linger to cancel on the connection [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.378484502 +0800] - DEBUG - _csngen_adjust_local_time - gen state before 5b7bc8c70001:1534838983:0:0 [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.379573648 +0800] - DEBUG - _csngen_adjust_local_time - gen state after 5b7bc960:1534839136:0:0 [21/Aug/2018:16:12:16.398745479 +0800] - DEBUG - NSMMReplicationPlugin - acquire_replica - agmt="cn=Replication Agreement cms1 to cms1b" (cms1:2389): Replica was successfully acquired. Re: Split tunnelling

To be clear, split tunnelling is when network traffic to some destinations (or for some apps) is tunnelled over a VPN, while the rest of the traffic goes through normal channels. I've tried messing with network namespaces, which would seem to be the way to go, but not managed to get everything lined up so far. All the howto's I've seen are for various flavours of Ubuntu. I guess I'm asking if anyone has already done the work and feels like sharing it. If you use NetworkManager, you can check the option "Use this connection only for resources on its network", in the IPv4 tab of the VPN settings. ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/T5HKZHNFBESQCFGIGVAD452WTDZ7M3PH/

Ansible is there only to automate things, it does not change the end result. Simply described, my process is 1. remove kernel parameters rhgb and quiet from /etc/default/grub 2. run /usr/sbin/grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg But if you already tried removing these parameters "by hand," this probably does not help. That is because it isn't what I've asked of you. And, I thought my instructions and examples were clear, but you are *creating* a 98-monitor.conf. -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information.
