That's why I asked about the update.
The update process renews somee certificates, and as it wasn't updated for a
 long time - now you have issues.

I hope someone from the community can assist you.

My recommendations:
1. Check on all hosts all vdsm.log and extract the VMs' xml
2. Get all network's xml

The auth file is located at /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/virsh_auth.conf

The simple alias:
alias virsh='virsh -c
qemu:///system?authfile=/etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/virsh_auth.conf'

Is enough to play with the toys directly :)
It's quite handy if you need to play with the HostedEngine VM :)

I'm not very pleased of this article.
Last time I needed to fix my HostedEngine, I couldn't find anything useful.
Looking into retrospection , If I knew how to attach a rescue media and boot
from it - it would take no more than 10 min to fix it - way faster than to
restore from backup.

More information:

- the host that ovirt hosted engine is running on is not running libvirtd.
When we attempt to start it, it complains about expired certs and fails.
Any ideas on this new development?

Looks like content for ovirt site:
https://github.com/ovirt/ovirt-site

To get read-only access you can use:

virsh -r list

Without special configuration.

Using read-write access and modifying vms managed by oVirt is asking for
trouble. Should be
used as a last resort if there is no way to control the vm via oVirt.

Subject: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine stalled and unable to restart

Hello,

We are on an older version (3.x - cannot be specific as I cannot get my ovirt
hosted engine up).

We experienced a storage failure earlier this evening - the hosted engine was
originally installed with this storage domain although we have moved all VM's
and disks off of it.

The storage was restored and all the VM's are now running, but the ovirt engine
is not pinging and is unreachable.

I have attempted to locate it on my HV's using 'virsh list --all' but only one
of those is taking my credentials - all the others fail to authenticate.

Is there a way to locate what the credentials are on each HV since the default
is not working? Additionally, is there any other way to locate the hosted
engine and restart it directly from a HV?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello oVirt Community / infrastructure team,
we would like to get guidance on how to mirror the oVirt content publicly. We
replicate content using our own networks so we'd only be pulling the content
from the oVirt content server from one location in Chicago.

Please advise.

Thank you,

So, how would I go about disabling global maintenance when hosted engine isn't
running?

I tried editing /var/lib/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/ha.conf and setting both values
to False but that didn't help.

local_maintenance=False
local_maintenance_manual=False

I keep running into this error when I try to (re)deploy self-hosted engine.

# ovirt-hosted-engine-cleanup

# hosted-engine --deploy

...

...

[ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Fail with error description]

[ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The host
has been set in non_operational status, deployment errors: code 9000: Failed
to verify Power Management configuration for Host physhost01.example.com
 ,   fix accordingly and re-deploy."}

I shut down all of the VM's and detached the storage before cleaning up and
trying to re-deploy the hosted engine, first time I've run into this particular
problem.

Any help appreciated

Brett

[ovirt-users] Re: Failing to redeploy self hosted engine

2020-04-01 Thread Maton, Brett
No that was the first thing I tried.

I ended up flattening the physical hosts and reinstalling from the OS up.
Then it was simply a case of importing the detached storages domains.

PITA and took a lot longer than anticipated, but at least it's all working
again.

[ovirt-users] New Issue - Ovirt Status shows '?' or Down for all elements

2020-04-01 Thread Mark Steele
Yesterday we had a storage crash that caused our hosted engine to stop and
not auto-restart. We manually restarted it and this morning, all elements
are showing a status of either question mark '?' or a red down chevron.

We are running version oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6.

We are chasing it down and see this in the log:

2020-04-01 10:15:53,060 WARN
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.VdsManager]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-23) Failed to refresh VDS , vds =
e98f8f1d-dd1d-47c4-b039-d6eaaf578317 : hv-06, VDS Network Error,
continuing

Any insight into what might be causing this or the fix would be appreciated.

[ovirt-users] Re: Hosted Engine stalled and unable to restart

2020-04-01 Thread Mark Steele
Thank you all!

We were able to locate it on HV-02 and restart it using virsh.

This is how we got virsh working on that HV:

Virsh Authorization
If Virsh is set for Auth
If attempting to use any virsh commands and get auth request you will
either need the auth credentials or to create your own.Example:
$ virsh list
Please enter your authentication name: root
Please enter your password:
error: Failed to reconnect to the hypervisor
error: no valid connection
error: authentication failed: authentication failed
Solution
$ saslpasswd2 -a libvirt

[ovirt-users] Re: DR on hyperconverged deployment

2020-04-01 Thread wodel youchi
Hi,

I re-did the test and it seems that the minimum RPO is one day and if
someone could confirm that would be great

As for the snapshot this time it was synced

Then I tried to test the fail back and I found that the documentation is
not clear :
- it is not clear what is the purpose of the dr-clear playbook
- it is not clear what does mean : put the target volume in read write mode
and source volume in read-only mode
- Do we have to sync back using a new georeplication link from the dr
volume to source volume?
I tried to so, in my first trial I forced the creation of the back
georeplication without deleting the content of the source volume then I
started the replication manually (I didn't use the checkpoint) and I
stopped the replication once it reached the changelog state, but I couldn't
import the source volume I got the error : volume is not empty

In my second trial I deleted and recreated the source volume from scratch
and the i started the replication back manually at the end I got the error

In my third trial I deleted the source volume and recreated it from scratch
but I replicated back using the check point method and this time the fail
back worked.

 Could someone sheds some light on this?

Thank you
Regards.

This seems like a bug, introduced by:

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/q/I967f1f3a27a3caa459518017b626b539a5f20f91,n,z

Dominik, seems like some versions of openvswitch do not create the
group hugetlbfs. Can you have a look?

A workaround, for now: Create the group hugetlbfs, e.g. using:

groupadd -r hugetlbfs

and try engine-setup again.

bingo.

the problem was port security, enabled by default on my system.

Thanks a lot for the support!

Hi.

 on engine all seems fine.

on host the command "ovn-sbctl show" is stuck, and with a strace
a se the following error:

connect(5, {sa_family=AF_LOCAL,
sun_path="/var/run/openvswitch/ovnsb_db.sock"}, 37) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)

.Hello Tommaso,
   on your oVirt engine host run
check the north bridge controller
ovn-nbctl show
this should show a software switch for each ovn logical network

check the south bridge controller
ovn-sbctl show
this should show the software switch on each host with a geneve
tunnel.

on each host run
ovs-vsctl show
this should show the virtual switch with a geneve tunnel to each
other host and a port for any active vnics

Hi to all.

   I'm trying to connect two vm, on the same "local storage"
host, with an internal isolated network.

My setup;

VM A:

  * eth0 with an external ip
  * eth1, with 1922.168.1.1/24

VM B

  * eth0 with an external ip
  * eth1, with 1922.168.1.2/24

the eth1 interfaces are connetter by a network created on
external provider ovirt-network-ovn ,

If manage to install, please let me know.
