*Subject:* [SOGo] SOGO configuration

Hi,

I installed a new SOGo server on past July and everything works
fine except that:

     - I'm going mad looking for where I can change the destination
EMail address to which are sent the notifications of the state changes
of the autoreply of each user. Right now these mails are sent to
*sogo@mydomain* where I would like them to be sent to a dedicated
existing address (for instance not_autorep@mydomain)

     - I encounter trouble with the Personnal Address Book: I can't edit
entries, I can't even not see them by moment and I get a "Request
failed" pop-up. My SOGo version is 5.8.0-1

Some help about these two topics would be appreciate.

     All the best,

François

[SOGo] Create calendar and addressbook using CLI

2023-08-04 Thread Paul van der Vlis

Hello,

Is it possible to create a calendar and addresbook using a CLI command
for a new user, so I can add that to my new_user script?

Now a user has to login to Sogo to create them. But some users first use
a mailclient like Thunderbird what can connect to the addressbook and
calender during setup. But only when it's allready there.

It will change some tables, but not rename them.
You can safely run it as often as you like, it will change nothing after
the first run.

This is a very small server, I think there is only one active user left
at the moment. He had problems on his phone, but after reinstalling
DAVx⁵ that problem seems to be gone. But I still saw errors in the log.

I did run the script again. I saw some errors:
-
ERROR 1060 (42S21) at line 1: Duplicate column name 'c_hascertificate'
ERROR 1060 (42S21) at line 1: Duplicate column name 'c_hascertificate'

ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'sogo.sogojk0013c1348af_quick'
doesn't exist

-

After this, I see some errors about that table in the logs, it seems to
be the only table what gives errors:

---

REASON:Table 'sogo.sogojk0013c1348af_quick' doesn't exist

---

What could point at that table-name?
There is also no "sogojk0013c1348af" or "sogojk0013c1348af_acl" table.

Sorry, I misread your error message.
You don't have that table altogether, instead of "just" missing a column.
I never had that myself.

In any case the only thing that's been upgraded is SOGo.

I traced the connection to the imapproxy port with tcpdump and I could

changing it to "127.0.0.1" made it work again

i.e. I changed

   SOGoIMAPServer = imap://localhost:1143;

to

   SOGoIMAPServer = imap://127.0.0.1:1143;

For the record, using "localhost" SOGo replied with RST,ACK to every SYN

Exactly. And if you don't see the "file the message in" action, that means that your Sieve server
doesn't support (or advertise) the "fileinto" action. You can inspect the JavaScript variable
"sieveCapabilities" from your browser's console when visiting your preferences.

I found that Sieve did not work in the newer SOGo version, so no
"fileinto". In my Cyrus config I had a line:

sieve cmd="timsieved" listen="localhost:sieve" prefork=0 maxchild=100

In my sogo.conf I do not connect to localhost, but to the real hostname.
What I did is remove "localhost:" and now it works.

Another option would be is to connect Sieve to localhost in sogo.conf.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, I could do what you write on a machine using SOGo 3.2.6. But on

This function has moved.
You have to select an email by clicking on the person icon in front of
it in the list, then use the three dots menu above the list --> "Move To".

You can move multiple emails at the same time with this, by selecting
multiple emails at once.

I want to make a filter what moves mail. For example move all mail with

The person who creates an event can do this with it's own calendar.
People who accepts an invitation will get it in it's own calendar, so
the postmaster calendar is not really needed.

If you like something as an postmaster-calendar I see that as something
extra, you could make one person responsible to keep that calendar
up-to-date. That's less error prone.

Hope this helps!

I normally wait till Debian comes with a new version.

There is no local calendar, the appointment is gone.

My customer gived me a time where he changed an appointment without
switching calendar. After that the appointment was gone.
I see two MOVE's in the log at the same second.

You can see this hapening in Ical, because you see some kind of
animation. But it can take a minute. So you need to wait a minute and
look if you see the animation, this is unusuable...

So, if you change an appointment there is a change that the appointment
is gone. If you switch calendar this is always, if you change something
else, this is sometimes.

I am using Sogo "2.2.9+git20141017" what comes with Debian stable.
Before I've used Sogo "1.3.17" without this problem.

Are more people seeing this problem?

The app on the Iphone does not work good too, when you move an
appointment from one calendar to another, the appointment is copied and
not moved.

I think it's used by Ical when moving an appoinment from one calendar to
another calendar.

When Thunderbird does this, it does not use MOVE.

[SOGo] Ical and MOVE

2016-11-09 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

Sometimes I see problems with users using Apple Ical and sogo 2.2.9 from

In the logs I see this:

Has somebody else seen this too?

When do I get a MOVE in my logs?

The Sogo connector does not give an error when it cannot contact.

Maybe post the URL you are using, I use this in Thunderbird:

Normally an address book is created automatically.

Sogo does not use a seperate server for address books or calendars, so
when you use Sogo you don't need Baikal server.

[SOGo] Sogo slow when in another virtual machine then IMAP

2015-01-29 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

I try Sogo in another virtual machine then the IMAP (=Cyrus), both
virtual machines are on the same host.

The mail in Sogo is really slow this way. Showing a message what's not
in the cache takes always more then 5 seconds.

It does not seems to be a DNS problem, a telnet to the mailserver on
port 143 is fast. And I have the same problems without TLS.
I don't see errors in the maillog.

Is here somebody with more experience running Sogo on another VM?
Is it always so slow?

 - Contact photos are not shown on LDAP addressbooks neither on the web or on

 - It is not possible to show the LDAP entries when looking at the addressbook
   (that one is http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=438)

Sogo connector is not perfect.

The Mozilla-people published they are rewriting the addressbook, not
sure this stopped. I think nobody wants to spend much time on a backend
what will be replaced.

As my LDAP is not as big (I have 120 active users, more or less) I dumped my
LDAP directory from Roundcube and loaded into a SOGo Addressbook and the
previous problems dissapear (well, I still need to autosubscribe my users to
that Addressbook, but apart from that it works).

What I have seen, Sogo Cnonnector does not sync when you configure a
read-only address book in Sogo. See:
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=2929

Looking at that I guess my best option is to sync my LDAP with the SOGo
Addressbook, but I've searched a little for a tool to do that and I have not
found one, so my question is... is there any utility to do that with SOGo or
should I learn about CardDAV and code it myself? If I should do it myself, any
library recommendations with a python interface? (I already have python
 scripts to
work against my LDAP server, so using the same language is the best option if
its has to be a new development)

I have no experience with it, but maybe take a look at this:

Can you not find addresses while searching in the global addressbook?

Hmm, it works now!

I searched for someone who was not correct in the LDAP. I can find other

What error message do you get?

id is the internal reference for that User Source.
Therefore it must be unique within the configuration of SOGo.

[SOGo] LDAP filter question

2013-04-23 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

I use LDAP authentication on a server, but there are some users in LDAP
who I don't want to give access to Sogo.

They should be easy to filter, because they don't have an e-mail
address. Do you have an idea how to filter this?

This does not work:
filter = (!(mail=''));
filter = (!(mail=));
filter = (!(mail='*@*'));
filter = (!(mail=*@*));

When I see the code of 'crypto_v5.patch' then it looks likes that salt

Url's for Thunderbird, something like:

calendar: https://your.server/SOGo/dav/paul/Calendar/personal/

In 1.3.9, there is a means to set the default calendar. In Preferences,
Calendar Options, Default Calendar. You get a dropdown with options for
'Personal calendar', 'Selected Calendar' 'First Enabled calendar'

I think this pref only appeared in 1.3.9. If its not sowing up for you

 Hope this helps

No. I already saw this setting, but I don't want the personal calendar,
and it's not first enabled calendar but first calendar (and that's
the personal calendar again). The only thing what works is selected
calendar, but a selection is lost when you logout and login later. So
you have to select it every time after a login.

You may have to recreate the cache files in calendar-data in your
 users
 Thunderbird profiles.
 How do you do that?
In Linux, you'll find a .thunderbird in your users home dir, in Windows
type in %Appdata% in the run box and you get to your user's 'documents
and settings' folder. Go to Thunderbird. Then you'll see a
 'calendar-data' sub folder.

In here you will see 2 (possibly 3) files.

  * cache.sqlite
  * caldav-acl.sqlite (possibly only seen with lightning 106i)
  * local.sqlite (if you had any calendar events stored locally in
Lightning before)

I'm not an expert on this, but if you delete the .sqlite files (when
Thunderbird isn't running), and restart, then Thunderbird will recreate
these files again as a local cache of calendar events and tasks. This
might take a few minutes, and Thunderbird won't respond to normal
 requests whilst its doing this.

Likewise the caldav-acl file (much much smaller in size) I believe is
the acl data, permissions on your lightning/sogo calendars.

You can of course look at these files, and edit them if you want with a
sqllite browser such as the GPL SQLite Database Browser In Linux and
 Windows too.

I've found that if you get issues with broken calendars, quite often its
because the cache data isn't the same as that on the server. The server
is likely to be correct. Sometimes, events are deleted from the sogo
server, but aren't properly deleted from the local cache, due to issues
 with permissions.

This is a trick I use sometimes if I get problems, your mileage may
vary. I've also found that deleting the cache files helps if a user
somehow ends up upgrading to Thunderbird 7/8 with its newer lightning
version, and you need to go back to Thunderbird 3.1 with SOGo. I think
there was a significant change in working with acl between sogo
lightning builds of 105 and 106, and same in std lightning builds, which
this can help correct, if necessary.

Might be handy if Inverse can comment or have any further docs on how
these cache files work, to better fully understand what happens.
Thanks for the information, this can be handy in case of problems.

But I don't think this is a nice upgrade path for my customers... There
are not so many, but this is complex to explain.

Not sure this happens all the time, I've tried it on two machines now,
and both have this problem. Are here other people who have this problem
or don't have this problem after upgrading to 3.106 ?
 yep
While migrating from thunder 2 to thunder 3.16 we have a lot of
calendars which hangs with the 3.106 extension. the main thunderbird
interface does'nt show and the only way i have is to kill the
thunderbird process and destroy the sqlite files. Then i can restart
 thunderbird.
What's more some calendars are very long to get their cache after
 destroying it ( 20min for a 8Mo cache.sqlite ?) . the other problem
is that the main thread of thunderbird doesn't respond while the
extension is trying to get the cache.
i'm searching explications or solutions too

For me the migration is from extention 3.105 to 3.106 on the same
version of Thunderbird. I did it with Thunderbird 3.1.12, a customer
with the latest Thunderbird 3.1, I believe it's 3.1.16.

Strange that I don't read much in this group about this kind of problems.

Paul.

I don't know Integrator, but without it, it's no problem.

I ask this because with Integrator/Connector Thunderbird wants to

That's my experience too. Are here people who say: addressbooks and

If I remove Integrator, then address books stay local; but then the

No, when you remove integrator you can subscribe to a Sogo calendar.

You cannot create a new one in Thunderbird (so far I know), but you can
create a new one in the webinterface, and subscribe to it from Thunderbird.

 destroying it ( 20min for a 8Mo cache.sqlite ?) . the other problem
is that the main thread of thunderbird doesn't respond while the
extension is trying to get the cache.
i'm searching explications or solutions too
For me the migration is from extention 3.105 to 3.106 on the same
version of Thunderbird. I did it with Thunderbird 3.1.12, a customer
 with the latest Thunderbird 3.1, I believe it's 3.1.16.
So are you saying you migrated with no issues ?

No I had issues. I am back to 3.105.
The calendars where read-only with 3.106.

Strange that I don't read much in this group about this kind of problems.
There have been mentions of issues with either 1.3.9 SOGo, and/or
Lightning 3.106i. I think as they're normally deployed together, its not
completely clear if the issue is with Lightning 3.106i. But I believe it
 is.

I will search on 1.3.9. Thanks for your help.

Paul.

Yes, you can. First compose a new mail, from this browser window

Great, this works!

Is something like this possible from Thunderbird too?

 Yes,

How?

but categories are not synchronized between Thunderbird and SOGo.
So you can't use both easily.

They are synchronized ;-)

I did a test with Family and that worked fine. Maybe because it's a
default category what was on both sides. I changed it in the Sogo
webinterface, and I saw it in Thunderbird.

But I have problems to add a categorie to a card in the webinterface of

and it does not work well with all browsers (Iceweasel, Chromium, Epiphany).

You may have to recreate the cache files in calendar-data in your users
 Thunderbird profiles.
 How do you do that?

In Linux, you'll find a .thunderbird in your users home dir, in Windows
type in %Appdata% in the run box and you get to your user's 'documents
and settings' folder. Go to Thunderbird. Then you'll see a
 'calendar-data' sub folder.

In here you will see 2 (possibly 3) files.

 * cache.sqlite

Is there documentation on how to upgrade to 3.106 ?

Paul.

Yes. This is our problem. We have some users that have no issues at all
with using the SOGo address books, mainly using Windows7. But we have
other users that seem to have no end of problems using address books
stored remotely on SOGo (only seen on WinXP).

You still can use a normal address book.

But we also use SOGo Connector and Integrator which means I believe that
you get additional icons in the Thunderbird Address book, allowing you
to add an address book. But the problem is that this would add SOGo
address books by default, not local ones. We don't want to stop using
Integrator as its useful when adding extra calendars on SOGo for users.

I don't use integrator, so I don't know this.

If your account e-mail is imap, you can de-install TB7 and re-install TB
 3.1 without problem

But in Thunderbird there is more then only IMAP mail. There are
accounts, there are filters, there is learning data for spam, settings,
signings, identities, etc. And also downloading imap mail can take some
hours when you have much mail.

That's the reason that I am intereted if it is possible to uninstall TB7

[SOGo] How to repair an address book?

2011-06-25 Thread Paul van der Vlis

a card or do a sync in Icedove, I don't see anything in the sogo log on

A problem is that there are many mailinglists in the addressbook, I
cannot move or copy mailinglists so far I know.

I am using Icedove 3.1.10 (=Thunderbird 3.1.10) as a client with the

Look for exceptions in the Thunderbird error console (or even in the

There are no exeptions in the Thunderbird error console (it's empty) and
in the sogo log file.

But I am glad to say that I do see a Profind line now again in the

Not tested it myself (and not freeware)

Hello André,

I've asked the author and he says:
-
currently there is only a free as in beer version of CardDAV-Sync. The
DAViCal Wiki entry has been written by an user not by me.
As my website states I'm planning to make both of them open source once
they are worth it. I don't want to open the code right now because it is
just not ready to be published.
By not ready I mean that I'm still in the process of finding an
architecture and defining interfaces. My plan is to put some stuff in
separate libraries and publish them under GPL on Sourceforge as soon as
I think its interface (and most of its implementations) is good enough.

I like when it's OSS, for me it's not so important if it's freeware.

With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird adress book does not sync

2011-03-31 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

I have removed all calendars and address books from Thunderbird and
after that I've added them again, now the address books syncs.

The error in the logs is still there, I think it's unrelated.

 There's no easy way.

You could reset the column c_defaults from the sogo_user_profile
 table for all users.

I have seen there are not only defaults in this column.
E.g. a filter what I created is in it too.
And a changed default value is in it too.

A better solution would be to craft a SQL statement that only removes
the SOGoFirstWeekOfYear value from the c_default column.

Hmm, I would have to study how to do that.

Or is here maybe somebody who knows an SQL command to change one field
in a column with many fields?

BTW: I would like it, when the users could choose for an absolute
value in the settings, but also for default. Not in all settings
this is possible, there you have to give an absolute value.

That's a good idea. You could file a feature request on the public
 BTS (http://sogo.nu/bugs).

I will think about it.

Thanks for your support!

[SOGo] Changing the defaults after creating an account

2011-03-24 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

The default weeknumbers in Sogo are wrong, I have seen there is a bug
about it. So I try to make a fix for all users.

This is in my /home/sogo/GNUstep/Defaults/.GNUstepDefaults :
SOGoFirstWeekOfYear = First4DayWeek;
But the default weeknumbering is still wrong. When I change the
weeknumbering in a test account, it works fine.

I found the settings of my testaccount in the database. I see there is a
copy of the default-settings in it from the time the account is created.
So I cannot change the default settings after creating an account.

Is there a way to get the new default settings into all exsisting accounts?

Is there a correct way to remove all defaults from the database, and use
the default settings from .GNUstepDefaults?

With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.

Sogo is not a mail server, it does not have mail-server functionality.
It has only mail-client functionality.

Even though we can access the dav calendars, contacts, and
tasks with evolution we can not do so with Thunderbird (connector or
integrator Lightning). In Evolution the Caldav subscription process
asks for the user password but Thunderbird does not -- I think this is
the problem. I understand that Thunderbird is trying to use the user
email information and password for this purpose but in our case we are
not using the sogo e-mail server and it cannot make a connection. We
have tried to setup dummy accounts with

You think wrong. Sogo does not use the e-mail password from Thunderbird
to access the calendar and addressbook. And Thunderbird does ask for a
password.when you first access the calendar, and it saves it in her
password store (I can see it). But it saves the password only one time
per server, so in my Thunderbird password store I see only 1 password
for my server https://sogo.vandervlis.nl/ SOGo even when I am
subscribted to many calendars and addressbooks on the server.

When you use SOGo's webinterface to access you mail, the webinterface
will use the sogo login-password to access your mailserver over IMAP.
But that's something else...
