Re: [xwiki-users] XOffice : login problem
Hi, is there a issue for that now? We got the same problem and in the documentation theres a description how to get short URLs which includes that you change the 'xwiki' directory to 'ROOT' http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ShortURLs So i think that you should be able to have that setting. Hi, id also like to suggest, that we come to some form of cooperation in doing the german translation since i did most part of it till yet (and hope that not all of it is incorrect german :). [xwiki-users] IE-Display problem
Hi, got something intresting, i have a table with divs with headings (syntax 2.0, XE 2.0.2) |((( === Heading === ))) The Heading is displayed fine in Firefox but is not displayed in IE with Colibri skin. Using the Toucan skin it is displayed in both browsers. For further investigation I looked at the source code of the page where i get something like tabletrtd div h3Heading/h3 /div /td/tr/table In IE somehow it seems the span is displayed but not its content. Changing the font-size in IE the text appears, refreshing the page the text disappears. Any suggestions cause i really cant figure out what happens there. Could you also explain what you'd like to have? breadcrumb is breadcrumb title is title (at least i see a difference in the function - title=title of page, breadcrumb=navigation aid) . In most cases it will be appropriate that the title is displayed in the breadcrumb. But when i have e.g. very long titles it may be better to have a short form of the title in the breadcrumb. vmassol wrote: - Only heading 1 and 2 possible as heading of page, if different heading and no title - page name in breadcrumb Ok true. To be honest, I would personally remove the level 2 as a header candidate since I don't see any logical reason to have it. Could you explain your need to have level 3-6 headers to be considered as dynamic titles? If i use the wiki for documentation and to create structured hypertext, i will have my document at severel levels in the wiki (which has some real gread advantages - topics reusable in severel contexts, topics interlinkable in strucure and cross structure ...) But i will also have the need to create printable versions of my documentation form time to time. XWiki has a real good export mechanism (with still some need of improvement) where i can also export page structures (includechildpages). If i use this i'd like to have the structure also reflected in the titles (in this case headings). So a title in topic in level 3 should become heading 3 ... If all topics have heading 1 the exported document doesn't reflect the wiki structure anymore. I agree, this will work in most cases (in fact in almost all cases;). Guillaume Lerouge wrote: For this use case I think it should be the job of the exporter to maintain a right title structure by automatically recalculating all titles and turning them into level 1, 2, 3 etc titles on the fly according to the logic of the final document. Thus the child page of a child page of the original page would have its title automatically transformed into a heading 3 and its heading 1 turned into heading 4 and heading 2 into heading 5 so that the exported document looks good. This way the page would look good while on its own but also when exported. Wouldn't this be a better solution? That would be great, but seems to add a rather complex task to the export. In the end it's a question on how much control the user has over the content and how its displayed and how much is controlled automatically by the wiki (which may be seen as a restriction, especially when things that worked before don't work anymore:). hel. - semantic-web.hel.at h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/xwiki-2-0-issues-tp3729506p3828836.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Thanks for both replies. First of all, I'd like to use the new strategy but in my opinion it's not ready for use now and has some restrictions. My problem is not that i didn't use titles. I do use titles quit a lot and think that the use of titles is somhow restricted now. Further more, i'd like to choose the level of the heading of my pages more flexible. Re: [xwiki-users] xwiki 2.0 issues
Hi, and thanks for your answer. Now i know what works and what does not work anymore. Guillaume Lerouge wrote: Do you mean a title different from the link in the breadcrumb? If this is what you mean then yes, you can no longer have a title that's different from the breadcrumb. We could maybe improve how breadcrumbs are displayed and truncate them when they're too long. In fact i think you are right, cause the title was not used as page title in the past, it was the title thats displayed in the breadcrumb. So mayby it shouldn`t have been called title or changed to the behavior we have now. Still sometimes it may be necessary to have a short title for the breadcrumb and a full title for the page. Don't know if its a good idea to truncate the title because that gives now control over the part displayed in the breadcrumb and if it makes sense. Guillaume Lerouge wrote: You can have a level 1 heading right at the start of your page after the title as long as it's different from the main title. Well, actually it somehow is: if you don't use the title field at all, the first heading of your documents will be considered a title like it used to be. In the moment only heading 1 and 2 are used as title if theres no title given. I sometimes have pages that have heading 3 or 4 as title - when theres no title the page name is used - not good You know this is hypertext and i dont want to have endless topics but i also want to have the headings set to the correct level if i export my topics for print output and i think that is necessary if you use the wiki for documentation or writing more complex documents. There's also the problem that xwiki at the moment is not able to display special characters (äüö) in the breadcrumb if you don't use the title. Guillaume Lerouge wrote: Sorry about that. I was (and still am) on of the strong proponents of the new behavior. I've heard many users complain about title handling in the past and I think the current version addresses these longstanding issues. However I know it's annoying for existing users such as you and I'd like to apologize for that. I know that sometimes things have to be changed and mayby this was changed for the better, but at least existing users should be informed about consequences and the release notes should reflect the new behavior. Looking at this discussion and the release notes for 2.0 they don't. http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise20#HNewTitlehandling By the way (because i don't only want to complain all the time) xwiki 2.0 is really a great release and with every release working with xwiki becomes even better. Re: [xwiki-users] xwiki 2.0 issues
Hi, i'm still wondering if the new title handling is really working how it should be. My main issue is, that its not possible anymor (as far as i can see) to have different title and heading (e.g. title - short form of heading). Also it's not possible to disable the new title handling and get back to the old behavior. It's a little bit annoying cause i use title and headings quite a lot and now evertything is messed up and i get doubled titles everywhere. hel. - semantic-web.hel.at h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/xwiki-2-0-issues-tp3729506p3781448.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Re: [xwiki-users] Links, WYSIWYG 2.0 (1.8.2)
Hi, Anca Paula Luca wrote: Hi Hel, thanks for reporting this behaviour! Of what I experimented just now, this seems to be caused by the REST API (used by the tree) for getting pages and the way it uses the passed parent parameter. Specifically, it does not interpret the value of the document parent field wrt the document's space. I see 2 solutions: 1/ either we change the panel to set the parent field to a fully qualified name (when a user inserts only a document name in the parent field, we append the space) 2/ either we fix the REST API. Solution 1 might cause problems when it will come to multiwikis, when the parent can be prefixed by the wiki name as well (wiki:Space.Page). Or: 3/ we change the parent-child relation in the explorer tree so that we make it survive such situations. Happy coding, Anca Luca Shouldn't there be a general concept for that in XWiki, wether its okay when you only use Page in links or that Wiki:Space.Page is the only way thats accepted? Don't know but it seems to me that this example shows there could be a bunch of problems if different syntax is allowed. hel. - h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Links%2C-WYSIWYG-2.0-%281.8.2%29-tp2733494p2747791.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Hi, the link dialog works much better than in 1.8.1, but one thing i found: i don't use the space for the page parent when i add the parent manually (which i had to, since it wasn't added automatically in the new syntax) because i found, that it's not needed to work (as it is in links when the link is in the same space). Re: [xwiki-users] GWT-WYSIWYG Bugs
Hi, To remove the list formatting you can either use the outdent button from the tool bar or place the caret before item1 and press Shift+Tab. The behavior you describe can be reproduced also in the default editor ( http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midasdemo/ ) and I think it is the correct one. It may not be natural at first look, but consider the following example: Dont know but just tried openoffice and there you remove list formatting with the list formatting butten and change the indent of the list with the outdent button. 3. When you undo the list formating and redo the list formating a paragraph is added between the two list items - item1 - item2 I need more input on this. How do you get the list in the first place? i had an list with two items - item1 - item2 removed the list formatting with the list formatting button item1 - item2 and changed the formatting to list formatting again - item1 - item2 tried that with the outdent button too, same behavior. also tried it in the default editor mentioned above, same behavior. but theres one difference, if i remove the paragraph (line break) what ever in XWiki i get - item1item2 In the mentioned editor i get - item1 - item2 hel. - hel. h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/GWT-WYSIWYG-Bugs-tp2441118p2571321.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Re: [xwiki-users] Programming rights in virtual wiki
Hi, use case would be, that any action a local user might want to do that needs programming rights is not possible (using codes, macros, applications (Import Export Application) from the code zone or creating own scripts using Velocity). And i would not like to grant every user who needs programming rights, because he wants to do one of the things mentioned above a global account. For me it is not that much of a problem, because i have also an global account and i really understand your concerns about security. But its also limiting the abilities of a virtual wiki environment. But what i get from what your saying is, that its not possible to restrict the programming rights for a local user only to his virtual wiki. hel. Imagine if somebody could do anything on the whole Blogspot farm... and is it planned for a future release to have the possibility to have programming rights in a virtual wiki? No. It depends. There is an issue on jira.xwiki.org about having an option for this, defaulting to false, but there's no requirement for this. Programming rights are really a dangerous thing, I don't see any need to grant them to anybody except one global account that decides what is safe. Indeed, if you need programming rights for a given api maybe a better way would be to provide that API without programming rights (if it's safe). What's your use case? Thanks -Vincent hel. Re: [xwiki-users] GWT-WYSIWYG Bugs
Hi, new thing i found: When you reach the end of the editor box and you make a new Paragraph the Cursor disappears and you have to scroll to see the new paragraph. When you start writing text, the display is updated and you see your paragraph but shouldnt that happen as soon as you start the new paragraph (type return)? Also tried with the old editor, there it worked that way. hel. - hel. h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/GWT-WYSIWYG-Bugs-tp2441118p2472270.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users
Re: [xwiki-users] Export (Pictures, 1.8RC2)
Hi, Marius Dumitru Florea wrote: hel-o wrote: See http://www.w3.org/Style/Examples/007/center#block IMO FOP has an issue if it cannot render images with display block. Adding a semantic-less div wrapper with text-align:center and leaving the image in-line just for FOP doesn't seem right, especially since it can generate some complications for the WYSIWYG (like deleting the image and leaving the wrapper as garbage, placing the caret inside the wrapper, etc.). May be right, but fact is rtf/pdf export with centered graphics worked in syntax 1.0 and does not work in syntax 2.0. And it does not look good if you get an error on export. Marius Dumitru Florea wrote: See http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_class_float.asp By aligning the image on the left you let the text float on the right, and the other way around. In the old WYSIWYG editor (syntax 1.0) you had left and float left for horizontal alignment. I now what float left is standing for but IMO when i align a graphic left i do not expect a float left but a left alignment. hel. - hel. h...@hel.at -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Export-%28Pictures%2C-1.8RC2%29-tp2455946p2460167.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users
Re: [xwiki-users] RTF-Export (1.8RC2)
Hi, and first of all. My mistake, rtf works and i just didn't notice. But two things I'd still like to know: I'm working on OSX and can't open the exported RTF with Pages or TextEdit (Default for rtf in OSX). Installed OpenOffice, there it works. I get the message that the file is possibly damaged, not complete or in a format that was not expected.
