Apologies for such a lame request, but does anyone have a working
startup script for qmail/vpopmail with SMTP-AUTH under daemontools
for a BSD/non-rc.d system kicking around?

My big mail/web/primary DNS server died (very thoroughly) yesterday
I had to rebuild it differently from the way it was before due to the
qmail port being removed from OpenBSD.

OpenBSD 3.2/vpopmail 5.3.9/qmail 1.0.3

At least I finally got approval to put a RAID controller in. Maybe
they'll even go for the backup system I wanted now...

TiA
-Kit, rebuilding the DNS web stuff now...

You waited less than 2 hours, on a Saturday, since your last post?

that domain is not my list of valid rcpthosts.

so what changes i do to set it as to send mail to all domains .

This is a FAQ:

  http://cr.yp.to/qmail/faq/servers.html#authorized-relay

You need to add your IP to your tcprules database and set the RELAYCLIENT
variable to . You can also configure vpopmail with --enable-roaming-users=y
so that when you POP3 in to check your mail your IP is automatically added.

Good luck,

Cory

[vchkpw] forced changing of passwords at command line

2002-11-30 Thread Rick Updegrove

Hello,

I had a disaster when I used rsync to transfer some
existing domains from one machine to another. I am attempting to restore
service to this domain on the new machine but I have a problem.

-bash-2.05b# vdominfo bsdpeople.comdomain
bsdpeople.com does not exist
-bash-2.05b# vadddomain bsdpeople.comPlease
enter password for postmaster:enter password again:Error: Username
exists
Ok so I comment out the postmaster in the vpasswd
file

-bash-2.05b# vadddomain bsdpeople.comPlease
enter password for postmaster:enter password again:Error: Domain already
exists
What should I do now? I am root, can I
override the password for postmaster from the command line?

I have tried renaming the vpasswd.cdb and then
trying the various /home/vpopmail/bin/ tools. I have the vpasswd
file and all the Maildirs so I should be able to salvage this and not have to
rename the existing folder, delete the domain name, and then recreate the
domain, and from there move all the mail back and then fix all the permissions
which are bound to get screwed up.

Thanks

Rick Up

Ok the domain is not anywhere to be found now,

That command does not do what you want it to do, try this:

  grep bsdpeople *

Your grep command searched files named anything followed by a period
followed by anything.

DOH!

Excellent point Cory!

However I manaully opened the files prior to that post and the domain is not
listed in any of them. Sorry for the confusion with my hasty pasting.

-bash-2.05b# pwd
/var/qmail/control
-bash-2.05b# grep bsdpeople *
-bash-2.05b# grep bsdpeople /var/qmail/users/assign
-bash-2.05b#

-bash-2.05b# pwd
/home/vpopmail/domains
-bash-2.05b# ls -la bsd*
ls: bsd*: No such file or directory

See. I have removed all traces I could find of the domain.

-bash-2.05b# vadddomain bsdpeople.com
Please enter password for postmaster:
enter password again:
Error: Domain already exists

Thanks again

It's possible that users/assign and users/cdb are not in sync. If you have
cdb installed (http://cr.yp.to/cdb.html) you can run the following command
to see:

  cdbdump /var/qmail/users/cdb |grep --binary-files=text bsdpeople

If the domain is still listed there then you need to re-run qmail-newu, but
be careful that what is in /var/qmail/users/assign is what you really want.
