[videoblogging] Video editing

2006-01-22 Thread jaguarfan888
I'm looking into purchasing some new editing software because I'm
quite fed up with windows movie maker, does anyone know of any really
good editing programs that export in the quicktime format and cost
less than $100? Thanks.

2006-01-22 Thread Eric
www.flashkit.com is an amazing site for anything flash and tutorial
wise. Check it out, I used it to learn the basics on Flash back when
Flash 5 was new.

Currently I'm using Adobe premier elements and sometimes movie maker

Look into either of the following, they are both great for around $100
or less:

1) Adobe Premiere Elements
2) Pinnacle System Studio Plus 9

Hope those suggestions help!

A lot of people like Sony Vegas and they have a lite version that's
well spoken of. Not sure if it's under $100 but it's in that range.
I don't have expereince with Vegas personally, but again, it's highly
regarded by a lot of people who are a lot more knowledgable and
competant than I.

Re: [videoblogging] TV/radio covering blogs

2006-01-22 Thread Arnþór Snær
I don't usually watch CNN, but caught it one day while they had a
program running called In the blogs... a sign of the times.

The topic of decentralized vs centralized media, especially news, is a
very complicated one with alot of hard questions.

While i like the decentralized media myself, there is always the
questions of echo chambers. I guess the real question is if we want
one big echo chamber (mass media) or increasing number of smaller ones
(rss feeds, social news networks, etc)

It's all getting cyper punk :)

became places where people discussed what was going on in the
  blogsphere?
like Hollywood or the Beltway, people would discuss certain
personalities, the in's and out's of coverage, nuances of certain
  posts.

as more people turn to the web during their off time, traditional
media will be forced to cover what people are talking about.

  just a interesting idea.

[videoblogging] Re: question about sony vegas software

2006-01-22 Thread Gena
Well, it is the transitions. What works on TV and movies does not
necessarily work well with web video. My understanding of this is that
you should try to avoid using transitions other than fades and dissolves.

Now this is not a bad thing. If you can work around the constrictions
you can come up with some nice looking stuff that will not hurt your
visitor's eyes.

However, for every rule cited someone will bring up a bunch of
wonderful exceptions. I have used Swish Max (a low cost flash
alternative) if I really wanted to create something that I can overlay
in my video editing program.

Just my two cents,

Why not get Avid Free DV? I'm not certain it has as much functionality as Ulead VideoStudio 7, but it's free and available at http://www.avid.com/freedv/Harold J. Johnson

Just thought of an better alternative that would be legal.

I purchased a firewire card from CompUSA. Included in that was a copy
of Ulead VideoStudio 7 and a firewire cable. For $30. And it can do
way more than WMM2.

This I feel would be the best option.
