[videoblogging] Why I'm grateful to this group, reason #2,454,782
I'm really thrilled to announce that I was asked to join the statewide board (IAG) charged with restoring marriage equality in California by repealing Proposition 8 in California. You can read the press release here: http://www.restoreequality2010.com/2009/09/restore-equality-2010-welcomes-jeffrey-taylor-to-interim-administrative-group/ I want to make clear that this is YOUR result. Without the training, contacts and values of this community, I never would have developed myself to be qualified for this position. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to me since I joined this group in 2005. If you have any questions or would like to help, feel free to drop me an e-mail. And if you have any friends in the press, especially in California, please feel free to forward them this e-mail and refer them to me for questions. Hi guys. I do a show called The Creative Fool where I basically talk to a camera for four minutes. It's pretty cool. There are robots. While I feel like it's already marketable to at least a few hundred potential viewers, what would you want to see? What would make it marketable to, say, a few thousand viewers? [videoblogging] HD video via superzoom digital PS cameras, Canon SX200 Panasonic ZS3
I'm getting interested in the super zoom PS digital cameras, which do HD videos. Canon SX200, Panasonic ZS3, Sony H20, Samsung HZ15W. People think the top 2 are Canon SX200 Panasonic ZS3: http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_TZ7_ZS3/verdict.shtml http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_PowerShot_SX200_IS/verdict.shtml Canon does H.264 encoding, puts the video in a .mov wrapper. Panasonic uses AVCHD, which is said to be import unfriendly to video editing programs. Canon doesn't have zoom during video mode (!!), Panasonic does. Panasonic uses Leica lens (very sharp), people note that its pictures are sharped than the Canon. Canon has full manual mode (with aperture shutter priority, etc), while Panasonic is all automatic modes (no full manual control). Has anyone tried any of the above 4 cameras? If so, what is your workflow like? What video editing programs do you use? I saw a ZS1 video, man it looked GOOD!! I thought was from a camcorder, it was that good. See: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/trail-conditions/40405-arroyo-station-fire-video.html Up to now, I've been using cellphone videos which are choppy. Audio is bad. I want to shoot better quality videos, with a compact mobile media solution. I need something to bridge the gap..to my SOny HDR- HC3 HD camcorder (mini DV tape, HDV format) I got in 2006..3 yrs ago. These days, many of these camcorders are tapeless, going direct to SD cards. I just got a Canon 5D II, which does incredible HD video (haven't tried it yet).

That's hard to say, as it's just a general geek type rant, like countless other blogs I'm afraid. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I imagine it would be hard to get a bigger following, you have to find people that think your general random rants are entertaining. That's harder than if you had some more specific content for example. My blog (www.eevblog.com) has now got over a thousand regular viewers, and I'm sure it's not because of my personality or presentation skills :- I seem to have hit upon a niche market of people that watch for my content rather than just to listen to and watch me rave on. Don't give up though, you have to keep at it and get your blog out there. My biggest gains have come from getting linked on various forums and geek sites, and they are usually my more controversial rants which get people fired up! Good luck. Dave.

Have you considered other models other than the top two? You might find one that is a better compromise between your key requirements and video quality. Don't forget audio quality. If you do mostly commentary behind the camera then front mic models might not be as good as say top mic models etc. Panasonic does. Panasonic uses Leica lens (very sharp), people note that its pictures are sharped than the Canon. Canon has full manual mode (with aperture shutter priority, etc), while Panasonic is all automatic modes (no full manual control). For quick'n'dirty field use on a portable device I woundn't be concerned with lack of manual control for video. Has anyone tried any of the above 4 cameras? If so, what is your workflow like? The Canon 5D MkII is equivalent to many HD movie production cameras, and you can mod it for better video features: http://www.edn.com/blog/98298/post/660048666.html Dave.

Wear a blonde wig, act like an idiot and speed up your voice? Wear a blonde wig and grow boobs? How about just a blonde wig? Sorry. I know that isnt helpful in the least. If everyone knew the magic formula to getting viewers, we'd all have millions. Keep plugging away at it and try to find a niche that hasnt been filled. If that's not possible, (no such thing as an original idea anymore) do something better than how someone else does it.
