[videoblogging] The Wire Article
The Wire magazine is a contemporary music magazine (not to be confused with Wired magazine). There was a chart-list of Weblabels in the April issues which I've posted here. It's not online but in print hence the length of the list. There is no direct link. I only made it halfway through the list before become hopelessly distracted, and the music may not please everyone, but from what I saw the list has an impressive collection of sites, of which many are Creative Commons, or simply listed as free to sample, download, or distribute. A number also have their music releases archived at archive.org. So if you like you can probably use it. I'll work out a way of posting it to the forum or the wiki. Which is it to be? It seems more sensible to have one resource rather than duplicating the information on twwo separate sites. Anyway... This is the unexpurgated list that was originally compliled by Matt Spendlove, Polymorphic, London, UK from www.polymorphic-music.co.uk. 8bitpeoples www.8bitpeoples.com 12rec www.12rec.net Archipel www.archipel.cc Autres Directions in Music www.autresdirections.net/inmusic Beat is Murder beatismurder.com Comfort Stand www.comfortstaqnd.com Nishi www.notype.com/nishi One.dot9 one.dot9.ca Polymorphic www.polymorphic-music.co.uk Sijis www.sijis.com Stadtgruen www.stadgruenlabel.com Sundays in Spring www.sundaysinspring.net Sutemos www.sutemos.net Thinner/Autoplate www.thinnerism.com Daryl http://feztv.blogspot.com SPONSORED LINKS Fireant Individual Typepad Use YAHOO! [videoblogging] Re: RE: Creative Commons music sites
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, Magnatune looks great, with real humans working there! As I scoured through the sites I was lead to: http://creativecommons.org/audio/ Which has a bunch of links, a couple I think deserve a special mention as they were not specifically mentioned in the posts. They use tags which certainly made my navigation a whole lot easier, and tended to centred in Europe. http://www.jamendo.com/ http://www.opsound.org/ This site doesn't have tags but the navigation was still clear and simple. http://www.electrobel.be/muzik/ Apologies if this info has been posted beforehand! [videoblogging] Re: Shotgun Microphone?
Hi Monique, Although this doesn't directly answer your question, I came across a blog a while ago that has a few DIY tips for recording sound. http://postsound.blogspot.com/ While it won't help you directly it might provide a few helpful suggestions or trigger some other thoughts about recording sound and improving sound quality. Wikipedia also has a good entry on microphones, that might help to determine what kind of microphone best suits your needs. I.e. Omnidirectional, cadioid, hyper-cardioid, bi-directional, shotgun. We've been using a camera mounted shotgun microphone for our FEZ TV stuff. We've recorded some interviews using radio microphones, (not yet edited) but this was cause the guy who does camera is a sound recordist in his day job and had the equipment on standby. Hi Guys, Alot of folks have been complaining about the sound on my vlogs. I've done all sorts of things to improve it, but to no avail. Jay Madore suggested a shotgun microphone. A few questions about that: My camera is a a Panasonic PVGS39. You have to plug the microphone in the front - there is no mount, therefore I'm having a hard time finding a good microphone. Any idea where I can find a good, relatively inexpensive $75 to $175 shotgun microphone that will work with my camera? [videoblogging] Re: massive infringement (was: Veoh Transcoding Feeds...)
Copyright is an issue for filmmakers as well as vloggers. So how do film-makers ensure their films are correctly credited and the copyright status of their films made clear to their audience? They include it within the film/video itself. Is it that hard for a vlogger to include a plate at the end of each vlog that gives credit to the author of the vlogger, and a symbol indicating it's copyright status (trad. Or creative commons or otherwise)? And add a link-back as well so the vlogger can be contacted if need be? This wouldn't solve the Veoh issue, but it would mean that if your work was being used in contexts outside of your knowing, it would at the very least retain attribution and an address that would enable you to be contacted so interested parties could find more of the work that you've made. For me, the problem is that the videos of mine that Veoh has are videos that I made to advertise my wifes business. On the original posts on my site, I put a link to her site. Veoh does not link back to my site. Thus my wife is losing possible clients. Also, I am not credited with making the videos. A violation of my copyright. The rerun month was a success and a lot of fun. I ended up with just a few more videoblogger intros than I needed so the community comes through yet again! I got to meet a few new people and hopefully I was able to send some new traffic to those that contributed. Thanks so much to those that sent me something. If any of you need anything that I can help you with from me just let me know. Also I was thinking of continuing, at least part of this project, in some small way. So if you want to make a little promo for your vlogs-- say like a ten second spot I'll include them on my feed. So if you're interested just let me know. [videoblogging] Fez TV
Hi all, I wrote a while ago to ask about the virtues of blogspot vs wordpress. I ended up going with blogspot as I was following the easy to follow freevlog video tutorials. Anyway the site is up. Check it out! http://feztv.blogspot.com It' a Vlog based around events happening during the current festivals in Adelaide, Australia. It's off to a bit of a shaky start but the site is at http://feztv.blogspot.com The Promo and 1st Episode can be downloaded via itunes at: Itunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=128639989 It seems we are having some problems with getting the feed to the site refreshed. Episode Two hasn't shown up on itunes yet. Anyone care to troubleshoot or has had similar problems and solved them it would be great to hear a solution (I've been to the tech pages at Apple and tested with the url pings but no luck :( Anyway, enjoy! Re: [videoblogging] Digest Number 1691
Hi all, I'm new to vlogging and I'm in the process of setting up a site. A Blogspot site looks good but I'd like to consider more options. What are the pros and cons of blogspot? What other blogging sites/softwares are people using? Are there better alternatives to use? Thanks in advance for any advice! Daryl (Aus.) Yahoo!
