[videoblogging] Vlog Site Advice

2005-08-30 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya
I have just uploaded a video clip, through ourmedia, to my site and for all the previous posts when you click on the video (wmv) it opens a up windows media player, buffers the clip and streams it and when you want to download you right click and click save target as. For this post whenever I clip on it it straight away downloads it and does not stream it. Is it maybe because I just uploaded it, really not sure why. It also might just be on my side pls could someone check it out, thanks so much.

[videoblogging] weekly or daily post debate

2005-08-30 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya
I have been running a weekly magic show (magicforafrica.blogspot.com) and its going pretty slower than I expected. I am thinking the reason could be because it is a weekly posted clip as apposed to a daily posted clip. The shows with narrative on the net are weekly as they have a type of story to them. Since mine is magic tricks I have been thinking of posting a magic trick everyday instead of every week. Does anyone agree with the fact that a daily magic show would attract allot more people than a weekly magic show.
Thanks

[videoblogging] DVD authoring help

2005-08-27 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya

I am looking for a stand alone dvd recorder unit that has the ability to create pretty nice menus. I have looked at the Sony GX7 but it look as though the menu you create looks really bad, as in it just displays a black screen with a title. I want at least to put a picture and have the ability to create chapters. I have been looking through Pioneer, Panasonic and LitOns sites and it seems there are definately some dvd recorders that create decent menus. Just not sure exactly if the menu can have a picture or chapters. So please if anyone knows of a DVD recorder with the ability to create nice looking (obviouly not on DVD studio Pro level) menus, pls let me know which ones?
Another question while still typing, what is the cheapest 3CCD camera you would recomend. Would it be the Panasonic GS75 (I come from PAL country so not sure what NTSC equivilant is) or just looked at a JVC one that camcorderinfo.com has said is great. What would be your choice for cheapest 3CCD video camera, also taking sound into consideration. Sure all the cheapest 3CCD cameras dont have XLR input prob all have mini jack input. Is mini jack still fine to put a mic into. And what mic would one recommend. And saw an adapter that converts mini jack to a mount which has 2 XLR input jacks. Would those two XLR jacks still be in stereo since it does into on little tiny mini jack. Is this recomended. Alternatively if filming on a low end 3CCD camera to use an extrenal audio recodring device, if so which one; mini disk, mp3.
Well excuse me for all these question pls feel free to only answer one, haha.
Pref the stand alone DVD recorder making nice menus question.

Thanks so much

[videoblogging] dvd question

2005-08-24 Thread Tyrone Rubin

hiya all

i am looking to back all my video up on dvd, aside
from a dvd writer. i have alot of my footage on vhs
and want to get a dvd recorder to realtime capture the
footage instead of dumping into my pc then waiting for
hours while it compiles it to dvd. reckon with a dvd
recorder can just press play on vhs the recoder on dvd
recorder and realtime. question is i also want menus.
i looked at the sony gx7 but looks like can only
really crappy menus. heard about a pioneer that can do
better ones. Anyway also want to know if anyone has
either matrox RT or a pinnacle card that can do the
same then then be alowed to creat a menu. Thing is
love the idea of dumping tape footage and capturing
onto dvd format realtime just need to also create
menus.

thanks

[videoblogging] Desperate sound help

2005-08-16 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya All

Was hoping someone could identify with a problem I am having. I am capturing dv footage from my panansonic. Everything seemed fine until about a week ago all the footage I capture has sound glitches. Video is perfect just sound is not. The sound problem is hard to explain, basically the sound is fine but every couple of seconds there is a type of glitch being heard. When I play the footage from the camera directly to the television the sound is perfect (no peaking, levels fine everything good). At first I thought it was bit related or khz related but not. I tried a different sound card as well as firewire cable. I am just stumped. By the way I am using both Movie Maker and Premier 6.5 to capture and both give audio problems.

Thanks

Thanks very much for that. I have tried to get them as quicktime files but with no luck. I edit on Premier 6.5 and from there cant seem to get it right compressing the file to quickime (not sure on exact codec and such). I also have quicktime 6 and every file I export from quicktime 6 does not seem to be a proper quicktime file. Please if anyone knows exact procedure form Premier 6.5 to get to quicktime right compression please let me know either an option in Premier 6.5 or exporting from quicktime into another programme. Thanks again.

Seriously I go to the page from my pc and all I see is one text post no video. Then when I go into archives then there is the video. It's not on the main page from my pc. Anyway, its my first time as u can see havent been able 2 design the site like I want and want to put a title next to Magic for Africa saying that it is a weekly magic show. Will prob get into it. also was struggling with compression and stuff. Does it seem alright. Can I better the compression to make it a better quality or is the quality I have fine. I am editing in premier 6.5 then exporting an uncompressed avi (320x240) then importing into movie maker 1 and compressing it there. Should I maybe compress it straight in Premier 6.5. Just not sure of setting and codec ect. Tried Quicktime but no luck as heard its better to have .mov than .wmv. Anyway got lots to learn.
