Re: Help! Zello messed up my noise levels!

Hi Greg
I don't exactly if what I did is what I remember doing. Here goes
anyway. I opened cello and a channel. I switched to headphones without
putting them in. Anything got really quit. I closed Cello I opened
settings and fiddled a bit with the volume as well as with voiceovers
volume. I put both on a level I would normally like. I opened cello
again. I switched to speakerphone. Things are once more normal.

Re: Help! Zello messed up my noise levels!

2012-09-01 Thread James Mannion
I would suggest going back to basics and making sure all of the volume
levels are set where you would want them. There is the main volume
which you can get to in the app switcher by 3 finger swiping to the
right to move to lower pages. You will get to the one that has the
volume control. Check where that is set. Then there is the voiceover
volume. It will be relative to the main volume as will everything
else. Set the main volume at like 40 or 60% and the voiceover volume
in the rotor to whatever works. Then set it all to your liking. My
point is that instead of trying to figure out what it did and doing
random things to fix it, take the systematic approach knowing there
are a limited number of volume settings and they are relative to the
main volume level which is the first one I mentioned. The main volume
level should go up and down with the volume buttons. There is a place
in settings that synchronizes the ringer volume with the buttons and I
would set that to no so as to not further confuse things and make it
harder. Unfortunately so many apps insist on screwing with volume
settings. I think because the entire sound thing is so secondary to
most sighted users that you could screw the entire thing up for them
and they may not notice for two weeks. What they did notice they would
hardly care.

Re: Wifi issues continue

2012-09-01 Thread Scott Howell
Marie,

I apologize if you have covered some of these questions, but I do not recall,
so here are a couple of questions.
First do you have any bluetooth devices paired to your iPHone? If so what are
those devices and if you can provide model numbers of devices such as Braille
displays. I only have APple routers here in the house, but I think I might
still shave an old Linksys WRT54G which probably has some pretty outdated
firmware. I may be able to drag it out and setup a wireless network here to do
some testing.
If you like to contact me off list you can send a message to
scottn3...@gmail.com. In fact I would prefer you contact me directly with the
information regarding your devices and especially if you have a Braille display.
I hope I can offer some help here.

THanks,
Scott

Re: Blog post will be regarding Thoughts on the Apple app store

2012-09-01 Thread Jan Blüher
Hallo Vashaun,

I would like to have a rating for each app on the App Store indicating its
accessibility. Some from not at all to fully supported. If developers do
upload an app to iTunes, they have to rate their own app (sex, drugs, violence
etc.). We could have an accessibility rating there, too. If developers have to
make their selection, they will perhaps think about it and will take care on
accessibility issues next time.

MLB At Bat update, good accessibility improvements

2012-09-01 Thread Richard Turner
I discovered an MLB At Bat update yesterday.
It mentions making the box scores more accessible. It does indeed!
Also, when you select the scoreboard tab, the final scores are read more
like a sighted person would read them out loud.

For example,
Giants Versus Cubs, Cubs Won 6 to 4, final.

I am going to write MLB and thank them for the accessibility improvements.

Apps not working

2012-09-01 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi all,

I have been facing another issue about which I wrote a few days ago.
Whenever I connect my iPhone to my Mac, for charging, transferring
songs or for whatever reason, all the third party apps stop working
after I disconnect my phone from my Mac.
They stop working in the sense that the screen merely blinks after I
tap twice on the icon of the app concerned and then returns back to
how it was before.
Usually, removing and installing a few of the apps fixes the issue as
all apps start working perfectly again after doing that.

Has anyone here faced a similar issue?
Why does this happen, and how can I permanently fix this extremely
frustrating issue?

Rahul

Re: copy and paste with voiceover

2012-09-01 Thread Ryan Mann
Hello. First, you would select what you want to copy. To do this, do the
following:
Set the rotor to how much you want to be selected at one time. For example, if
you want to select a line, set the rotor to Lines.
After you do that, tap on what you want to select.
Then put two fingers together on the screen and pinch out.
After you have selected what you want to copy, set the rotor to Edit. Then
swipe down with one finger until you hear Copy. Then double-tap.
Now you can go to where ever you want to paste the text to. Then make sure the
rotor is on Edit.
Swipe down with one finger until you hear Paste. Then double-tap.
Let me know if any of this is unclear.

iTunes help needed -- playlists not syncing

2012-09-01 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi all,

Recently when I sync my phone with iTunes, any playlists I've created
on the phone are not being synced back to my laptop. The songs are
being synced but not the playlists. This is a recent problem but I
don't remember making any changes to either the laptop or the phone.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kimber

WiFi Issues Continue

2012-09-01 Thread Jeff Molzow
Marie:

This is probably not the answer, but worth a check. Under Settings/Wi-Fi,
make sure you have the Known networks will be joined automatically switch
enabled. Also, what type of security do you have setup on your Linksys
router i.e. WEP, WPA-2 or some other security setting. Finally, are you
using MAC address checking on your router?

Hope that will give you some ideas.

Re: Help! Zello messed up my noise levels!

2012-09-01 Thread Anne Günther

Hi
Well, trying to set the volume back to normal was the first thing I
tried. I didn't work.

Guenni

Am 01.09.2012 08:50, schrieb James Mannion:

What they did notice they would
hardly care.

matter waht I tried with switching speaker on and off. Closing zello
with of without the headphones. As long as the headphones are put in
things are fine. Otherwise the usual alerts and warning sounds are
really quit turning up the percents doesn't help. On the other hand
voiceover is really loud the voice itself and the tones that belong with
it. When i switch voiceover off and on again the noise level is at 75%.
When I turn it down it gets quiter but even at 1% I understand it just
fine. Is it possible that I messed things somehow up by pressing some
strange button combination on the headset?
I don't know what else I can do and it gets annoying really fast.
thanks for tips, Guenni

 Google Latitude is a location-aware
mobile app developed by Google as a successor to its earlier SMS-based
 service Dodgeball.
Latitude allows a mobile phone user to allow certain people to view
their current location. Via their own Google Account, the user's cell
phone location is mapped on Google Maps.
The user can control the accuracy and details of what each of the
other users can see - an exact location can be allowed, or it can be
limited to identifying the city only. For privacy, it can also be
turned off by the user, or a location can be manually entered. Users
have to explicitly opt in to Latitude, and may only see the location
of those friends who have decided to share their location with them.

How to navigate by headings on Iphone?

2012-09-01 Thread Gerardo Corripio
HI guys: Using an Iphone 3gs with Ios 5.5.1 In Newsline or other
newspapersmagazine aps as well as with safari, how do I navigate via
headings like in Jaws you'd do h to go to the next one and Shift+h for the
previous headings? I thought I understood that the rotor had a move to
heading but can't find it! Within Newsline, or Safari when wanting to move
by heading, I only hear Characters, Words, Lines, the Language option I
added in to switch from Spanish to English, something that I think in
English would translate to form Controls, but where or how to get to move by
headings?

Thanks for ideas.

RE: How to navigate by headings on Iphone?

2012-09-01 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
Go into settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, Rotor.
Go through and if something says selected, then it will show up in the
rotor, if it doesn't say selected then it won't.
My guess is that headings are not selected.
There are a lot of other things like links, form controls, search fields,
buttons, etc., that you can have on the rotor.

HTH,
Richard

I discovered an MLB At Bat update yesterday.

It mentions making the box scores more accessible. It does indeed!

Also, when you select the scoreboard tab, the final scores are read more
like a sighted person would read them out loud.

For example,

Giants Versus Cubs, Cubs Won 6 to 4, final.

I am going to write MLB and thank them for the accessibility improvements.

RE: downloading purchased music from the itunes store

2012-09-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Don,

I find it easiest to go into Edit and Preferences in iTunes, then go to
the Stpore tab and check to automatically download books, music and apps.
You can, of course, just check, for example, music. You can do the same on
your phone in the Settings under Store and that way it doesn't matter
whether you purchase something on your phone or on the computer, whatever
you purchased will also be downloaded on the other device.

Still unclear Getting directly to top and bottom of windows

2012-09-01 Thread Gerardo Corripio
HI guys: Yes I know I asked the other day about how to get directly to top
or bottom of a Windows on my Iphone, but I still am unclear on how much
distance from the top or bottom of the screen I have to tap the four
fingers, and how to put them together or spread out? I ask these because
when I touch the top or bottom of the screen I get the Center of Screen,
Bottom Part of Screen Top part of screen etc.

Thanks in advanced for any info.

RE: Still unclear Getting directly to top and bottom of windows

2012-09-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Gerardo,

If Voiceover announces top of screen or Page 1 of 3, centre of screen
you are only doing a 3-finger single tab or at least Voiceover is
registering it as such because the correct response to a 3-finger tap is for
Voiceover announce the position of the tap. If you do this on one of your
home screens it will also tell you which screen you are on and how many
there are, e.g. if you have 3 pages of apps and you do a 3-finger tap on
page 1 at the top of the screen, then Voiceover would say Page 1 of 3, top
of screen.

I suggest you go to Settings, General, Accessibility, Voiceover and
double tap on the practice gestures button, on the resulting screen you can
practice any gesture you want and Voiceover will tell you which gesture you
did. I guess the trick with 3-finger and 4-finger gestures is to make sure
all 3 or 4 fingers touch the screen at the same time.

Good luck,
Sieghard

lainey undertook this process on behalf of the ACB, and all blind baseball

I discovered an MLB At Bat update yesterday.
It mentions making the box scores more accessible. It does indeed!
Also, when you select the scoreboard tab, the final scores are read more like a
sighted person would read them out loud.

For example,
Giants Versus Cubs, Cubs Won 6 to 4, final.

I am going to write MLB and thank them for the accessibility improvements.
