I found that it was easiest to just download the individual books to either 
my iPhone or my iPad or to both right from the BARD app.  No syncing 
necessary.

Is there a reason why you don't just use dropbox? I have to be sure to use the 
zip file rather than the unzipped folder and I have to do share and then I 
think more actions and open with. But once I do that, the book appears in my 
audiobooks bookshelf. I do find that I have to then either go out of the app or 
go back and then go into the bookshelf again for my book to appear. I confess 
I'm not familiar with UbiDisk so I assume there's some reason you are using 
this instead of dropbox. I did look up UbiDisk and I don't really see any 
reason why it shouldn't work. Is anybody doing this specifically with UbiDisk 
and having it work? I guess that would be the first thing to establish so you 
know where the problem lies.

Hi, Brian.
Same story, only a few hours later. I also tried deleting books from the
bookshelf in case there was a limit and I was exceeding it. But that didn't
do anything to fix the problem.

Try having the Bard app open on the phone when you do the transfer through

Feeddler not connecting to Twitter

I just noticed this today, but I haven't used this feature in a while, 
so maybe I've had this problem for a bit. While viewing a feed in 
Feeddler, I hit the share button and then the Twitter button and when I 
double tap the post button, I get a cannot connect to Twitter message. I 
noticed that Feeddler isn't listed in Facebook or Twitter under the 
section of apps allowed to use these services. Reinstalling Feeddler 
didn't change anything, and I didn't find anything in the Feeddler 
settings. Can anyone shed any light on this for me or give me some ideas 
of some things to try or look for?

I noticed this maybe a month ago, and again this morning in fact. I'm not sure, 
maybe they were left behind by the last API update? I guess a note to the devs 
is in order. There was an update for iOS 7 compatibility as I recall, so 
someone is still working on it.

Is there a reason why you don't just use dropbox? I have to be sure to use
the zip file rather than the unzipped folder and I have to do share and then
I think more actions and open with. But once I do that, the book appears in
my audiobooks bookshelf. I do find that I have to then either go out of the
app or go back and then go into the bookshelf again for my book to appear. I
confess I'm not familiar with UbiDisk so I assume there's some reason you
are using this instead of dropbox. I did look up UbiDisk and I don't really
see any reason why it shouldn't work. Is anybody doing this specifically
with UbiDisk and having it work? I guess that would be the first thing to
establish so you know where the problem lies.

I solve this problem by reading two different books depending on where IM right 
now I have one book going on my iPhone which I usually read in the bedroom in 
the evenings and I have one on the iPad which I read during the afternoons or 
on a day off it sounds confusing but actually I like the versatility of doing 
it this way

Yes I have my iPhone, 2 iPads and an iPad mini on the same iTunes and iCloud 
account. All the devices share apps, music, books, documents etc. Makes 
managing my 3 kids devices easier for me.

I didn't care for downloading a book through iTunes as I had no control over 
the speed at which I was reading and no sleep timer but that was three years

It is been my experience that if you actually look at the book titled you're 
downloading you can see progress however it doesn't announce it on it's own you 
have to ask a touch that title in order for this to happen

These seem to be some odd encryption/obfuscation method used by
certain providers. I wrote to Winston at VoiceDream asking about using
the files from archive.org on VDR, which would be wonderful, and
generally asking what encrypted files meant in this context. He
explained as follows:

Theses are DAISY files with encrypted file names used mainly in Europe.

I too updated Prizmo.
I just did a test using the Standscan pro with a concert program.  The quick
capture worked better than the create a new document.  That seems very odd
to me.  Here is the quick capture result.  There were several words that did
funny things with r's like his name, which should have come out Morton
Lauridsen.

Welcome to this celebration of the composer Moden Laufidsen's choral
masterworks.
We have been thdlled to have Lauridsen in Portland this week. Since his
arrival on Wednesday evening, he has worked with each of our choirs, given
public lectures and composition master classes at Lewis  Clark College and
Marylhurst University, and offered nuanced insight into his beautiful
writing for choir.

Last spring, the three of us met to discuss the idea of collaboration
between our three choral programs in Southwest Portland. We knew we wanted
to combine our choirs to 3erform a major choral-orchestral work, and we had
only to decide which work would most inspire our choirs. When Justin
suggested that we might bring the living legend V~orten Lauridsen to town,
Wendy and Kathy immediately jumped at the chance, knowing how exciting and
life-changing this opportunity would be for our singers.
Fortunately, Dr. Lauridsen was available this fall and, indeed, this has
been an incredible learning experience for all of us.

We hope that this evening's concert, and Dr. Lauridsen's soaring, exquisite
and deeply felt music, will move and inspire you as much as this
collaboration has inspired us. From the simple tunefulness of Dirait-on,
to the rich, earthy evocations of nature in the Mid-Winter Songs, to the
soaring, Gregorian chant-inspired Lux Aetema and O Magnum Mysterium, it will
be a truly memorable evening of music.

As far as I know, neither BARD nor Voice Dream Reader will sync books
between devices.  You have to load them on each device.
You probably could use iTunes File Sharing, but I personally think it is
easier to simply down load the books you want onto each device.
Voice Dream can easily use DropBox if the files are something other than
BookShare books.

What Files are on my iDevice?

Hi, Everyone.

Is there a way to see what files are on my iPod Touch? I need to confirm
whether iTunes and the Bard Mobile app are playing nicely. If not, I need to
figure out why not.

 

I'm asking because I'm trying again to use iTunes file sharing to get books
in to the Bard Mobile app; I need them for schoolwork, and the inability to
access the books or the app proper is making me nuts.

 

I have the app open, have gone to iTunes and followed all the instructions
right up to clicking on the Add button. If this in relation to a book I've
tried to download previously, I get the message that the file is already
there, would I like to replace it. If I try downloading something that is
new (downloaded from BARD itself), and click the Add button, there is no
doorbell chime to let me know anything's been downloaded. 

 

When I shift+tab to look at what documents are associated with the app,
there's nothing in the tree view.

Ideas, please???

Sorry, I know I must be missing a piece of information, I am totallyh baffled 
by what you are doing. If I am understanding this right, you already have books 
in your bookshelf in the bard app so you know that works. You seem to be 
jumping from UbiDisk to dropbox to iTunes trying to transfer books. You 
actually should be able to do this. But if you can't, why not just add the 
books you need to your wishlist either using your computer or your iPod and 
then download them directly in the Bard app since you know this works. I'm sure 
there is a piece of this I must be missing but it seems to me that you are 
taking a lot of time and effort to do something that can be easily done without 
having to transfer. What am I misunderstanding here?

Right now the app Wishlist is out of commission, so I can't add the books I
need that way. That was how I got the books that were on my shelf.
The only other way that I know to get the books to my iPod Touch is by
downloading them to my PC, then file sharing, whether it's through Dropbox,
Ubidisk, or iTunes.

iTunes has been a bust, but one of my specialties is beating dead horses.

Ubidisk gets me halfway there i.e., it's on the iPod, but I can't figure out
why the app isn't seeing it. There isn't any progress bar or chime, and yes,
I'm being patient and waiting, and have made sure everything that needs to
be opened is open.

Dropbox is the newest thing I'm trying, especially since after reading the
info on the site, it seems that it'd be more than just handy for downloading
books.

That's my story ...

Okay, now I understand! The wishlist was working for me last time I tried it 
but not now. So that's a system problem apparently with NLS.

I'm doing a transfer on dropbox so I can give you all the steps.

1. Put the zip file in your dropbox folder on your computer. Make sure it has 
time to have uploaded into dropbox.

open dropbox on your device. If your zip file doesn't show up there, just wait; 
eventually it will.

3. Find the zip file. Double tap it. Then wait till the progress says 100%.

4. Double tap share.

5. Double tap open in.

6. Double tap open in bard mobile.

The bard mobile app will open but will still not show the new book. This time I 
just left it open and and after a couple of minutes I got an alert that said 
the request had timed out. This may or may not happen to you. Remember the book 
has to do more than just be in the app; it has to be authorized which means the 
server is being contacted if I understand correctly.

7. Go out of the app. I didn't remove it from the app switcher; I just pressed 
the home button on my phone and then pressed the home button twice to get back 
into the app switcher and found the bard mobile app and double tapped on it.

I think it might have still said 5 audiobooks but as I flicked through the 
books, I found my new one. Then I checked again and it did say 6 audiobooks. 
Order of this may vary.

Yeah, I have the same problem. It tells me to sign in if I have an account but 
I see no way to sign in. It's fine on my computers and one of my phones and I 
think my iPad - haven't checked there! I'm thinking of uninstalling and 
reinstalling the dropbox app on my 5S to see if that helps.

Are people still having trouble accessing their titles in the wish list?
Both   my wife and I are having the same issues. Not sure it is due to our
new phones or bard. Also, did I read that you could get books into bard

Super frustrated with seemingly faulty iTunes syncing

All right, folks. I have no clue what I am doing wrong, but though my songs 
list says 491 on my iPhone, and my music library has over a thousand songs, my 
iPhone is playing songs when I listen to my music that should not be synced.  I 
have sync only checked songs.  I have iTunes Match off. I have the songs I 
want checked and those I don't unchecked. Based on the number of songs showing 
on my iPhone, I should only be hearing my selected songs. (Yes, I have songs 
selected in Music.) What on Earth is going on?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

There's no return to press. There's no keyboard, buttons, nothing. Maybe if you 
are using a bluetooth keyboard but I'm not doing that right now. May try it 
later. If you have to use a bluetooth keyboard to do it, something is broken. 
But thanks for the idea. If I decide to get out my bluetooth keyboard and try 
it, I'll post if it works.

I have a syncing question

I want to sync my entire music library so have this option checked.  
My library says there are 1300 songs but when I sync my iPhone 4s only 1276 
songs appear.  
What am I doing wrong?  I have an iPod touch 4 and the sync went fine on that

Bard wishlist problem plus transfering to Bard app with dropbox: was: Re: Bard Mobile

The error looks to me like it's a bard problem but I think it's definitely not 
a problem with anybody's individual phone.

I just posted steps for dropbox. Here they are again.

1. Put the zip file in your dropbox folder on your computer. Make sure it has 
time to have uploaded into dropbox.

open dropbox on your device. If your zip file doesn't show up there, just wait; 
eventually it will.

3. Find the zip file. Double tap it. Then wait till the progress says 100%.

4. Double tap share.

5. Double tap open in.

6. Double tap open in bard mobile.

The bard mobile app will open but will still not show the new book. This time I 
just left it open and and after a couple of minutes I got an alert that said 
the request had timed out. This may or may not happen to you. Remember the book 
has to do more than just be in the app; it has to be authorized which means the 
server is being contacted if I understand correctly.

7. Go out of the app. I didn't remove it from the app switcher; I just pressed 
the home button on my phone and then pressed the home button twice to get back 
into the app switcher and found the bard mobile app and double tapped on it.

I think it might have still said 5 audiobooks but as I flicked through the 
books, I found my new one. Then I checked again and it did say 6 audiobooks. 
Order of this may vary. You might have to go out of the bard app and back in 
more than once.

blue tooth for the ear.

Hello, are there any recommendations for a blue tooth speaker for around the 
ear so when I am traveling outside I can hear blind square talking?  I don’t 
want something that will block my ear though for the obvious reasons that I

Radium info needed

Please would someone either point me to some instructions for using the 
Radium player or, in lieu of a podcast or something, please provide a 
few pointers as to the use of this app.Also, I used to use Music 
Dock, so I would appreciate comments from persons familiar with both apps.


If I remember correctly, there were two apps with the name radium, and 
I got the one called radium perfect.

In the dropbox app, did you go to settings?  There you can double tap the 
login which will then ask for your email address.  Type that in.  Under that 
it asks you for your password.  Type that in and double tap continue in the 
lower right-hand corner.  That should get you logged in.  Then you should 
see your folders if you've created them etc.

The only thing I can think of is, iTunes has another checkbox which says, fill 
unused space with music. If this box is checked, your other music will be 
placed on the phone in memory which can be overwritten at any time another app 
requires the space.

Double-tap and hold the app on your screen. In other words, tap twice quickly, 
but on the second tap, keep your finger there. After you hear the distinctive 
tone, vO will say: “moving” and the name of the app. Simply lift your finger at 
this point. Now you’re in edit mode. Find the app again and double-tap it. 
you’ll get a confirmation dialog asking if you want to delete. Press the delete 
button. Once you’ve done this, double-check to see if the app is still there. 
If it isn’t, press your home button to get out of edit mode.

Sorry, but in this dropbox app on my 5S, there is no settings; it's just like I 
said, there's a welcome screen that tells you to sign in but no way to do it. 
The other pages tell you about photos, etc. but there is no way to get to 
settings. I even looked for a dropbox in Settings on my iPhone but some apps 
have a separate settings area in Settings, but there was nothing there. I do 
know what you are talking about because I've signed in to Dropbox before on 
devices but no can do on this one.

Now solara becomes more and more fun.
But the only problem for me is that, when I fight, I lost, and I don’t know how

This is actually a good question.

 

I wish I could get the attention of the development team for Solara. I would
ask them to provide descriptions of what our oponents' capabilities are, in
the same way they do our heroes. It would make sense in the game's universe
since these are monsters which one encounters as one sojourns.

here is an answer to the original question.  You have to level up your
heroes.  so for example if you are at level 5 and your heroes still say they
are level 2 you have to train them using food and gold to get them up to
level 5.  otherwise, they will not be equal to the challenges.  yes, would
be nice to know more about the opponents too.

In the meantime, if you know how to transfer books via iTunes, you can go to 
your wish list on the computer, download the book, then transfer it. You can 
put books onto your wish list on your IOS device, just not download them 
directly from it.

Well, there are a few things you can do. When you lose, you should get a 
tip. Sometimes those tips are useful like a certain enemy is especially 
subject to magic damage or an enemy likes to attack the last person in 
the party instead of the first person in the party. Unfortunately, 
sometimes the tips are pretty useless.


you can also notice what happens to your party during the battle. I'll 
do a two finger swipe up periodically during the battle and then try to 
notice what's happening to my party, like the first heroes in the party 
are going down first, or the heroes with no magic resistance are taking 
the brunt of the battle. Between this and the tips you get you can 
change up your strategy and eventually come up with a winning combination.


In general, I like to put heavily armored heroes up front and keep the 
magical heroes in the back. Sometimes the enemy likes to go after heroes 
at the bottom of the party, so you'll need to switch this up. Obviously, 
if you're going up against magic using enemies, you'll want to use 
heroes with good resistance and use an alchemist to heal the party, 
since they also help with your party's resistance. If the enemy party 
deals out a lot of maleigh damage, then you'll want a heavily armored 
party. Periodically review your heroes characteristics, so you'll know 
what their strengths and weaknesses are with respect to armor, magic, 
range damage and so on. When things aren't working, step back and come 
up with a different strategy. For example, right now, I like loading my 
parties up with footmen and knights and try delivering that killer knock 
out blow up front. If it works, the enemy party loses a hero right away 
and you have a advantage. If it doesn't work, you might win a long drawn 
out battle or just lose in the long run. I call this my old school 
strategy because as you get new heroes, like druids, hawkeyes, sentinels 
and so on, you tend to forget what your healers, footmen and knights can do.

Ryan Seacrest has a thing about keyboards. The TV host and media personality 
has long carried two phones -- an iPhone and

a BlackBerry for its physical QWERTY keyboard.

But he has seemingly decided that's no way to live his life anymore. Along 
with his friend Laurence Hallier, Seacrest has

created the Typo Keyboard Case, an iPhone case with a physical keyboard.

According to All Things D, Seacrest has invested $1 million into the case, 
set to debut in January 2014 at the annual
Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The company would not confirm 
Seacrest's financial investment when reached by ABC

News.

The $99 Typo Keyboard case will work with an iPhone 5 and 5s. Similar to a 
Mophie Case for the iPhone, you slide two
parts of the keyboard-equipped case onto the phone. You then power on the 
case and connect it via Bluetooth to the
iPhone. The keyboard looks extremely similar to the keyboard on the 
BlackBerry Q10, with frets to separate the keys. The
case does conceal the iPhone's home button but a button to the right of the 
keyboard replaces the function.


It is available now for pre-order and will ship in January.

But the Typo Keyboard case isn't the first product to attempt to bring a 
QWERTY keyboard to the iPhone. Others from
BoxWave and Dobi have all tried to solve this age-old problem, but the use 
of Bluetooth is frustrating and the keyboards

themselves were slow and added a lot of heft to the phone.

Seacrest and Hailler said they felt the same way about those, which is 
apparently why they embarked on creating the Typo
case in the first place. After ordering every iPhone keyboard available, we 
realized that there was no solution that

worked well, they state on the Typo Case website.

They vow that this case provides a butter-smooth experience and adds only 
a fourth of an inch to the thickness of the
iPhone. If that proves to be true, Seacrest and the rest of us die-hard 
keyboard fans may have one more thing to

celebrate on New Year's Eve.

I'm not wearing a diaper, so don't try to change me.

Has anyone upgraded to IOS7 on an iPhone 4?

Guys,
I have an iPhone four. Currently, I'm using iOS6.  I would like to use iTunes 
radio on my iPhone. Have any of you upgraded an iPhone 4 to iOS7? Can you 
recommend a link where I could learn more about the things that iPhone for 
can't do with iOS7? Are there any real problems using iOS7 on iPhone for as 
opposed, say, two of 4S or a five?

Kevin, yes, and I regret the upgrade. I have since sold my 4 but can 
remember how usable but sluggish it was compared to iOS 7 on my shiny 
new 4s, which is at least ten times better. The 5s well I can't comment 
on other than it comes with iOS 7 anyway and therefore should run at 
optimum speed. If you want iTunes Radio use iTunes on the Pc or Mac or 
other iDevices you may have that will not slow down when running iOS 7. 
These are of course my experiences so as the saying goes your mileage 
may vary.
