2016-09-04 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Well, I didn't reply since you already got a reply that the monthly
subscription is $9.99. I just signed up for the free seven day trial on
Thursday and I was told I'd be charged $9.99 a month starting on the 8th
unless I unsubscripted. I think I'll keep it since I get access to NFL,
NBA and NCAA college games with it.

Thanks Chris, if this is still true, well, $9.99 per month isn’t quite

could say definitively what the cost is.
I will write to the developer, but what I also will do is try out some
of the other radio apps before I put any money out. There are quite a
few of them on Apple Vis, and I might like one or more of those better.
And I can still use the free TuneIn app anyhow.
Thanks again.

Hello Evan,
Just to let you know, Tune in premium is a monthly subscription that
cost $9.99 a month. Premium not only gives you access to listen to
sporting events of many leagues, but also gives you a bigger number of
premium radio stations of all kinds to listen too.
Tune in pro is a one time cost of $9.99, and not only takes away ads,
but also gives you a recording feature where you can record from any
station allowing you to listen to it at a later time.
I do not know if they have changed their prices since I bought the app a

Since there is some confusion, you could always contact the developer

I believe it is the only radio app which has all the professional sports
events. If you are a sports fan it can be well worth the price when you
consider that the NFL Game pass is $99 per season for just the one sport.

Facetime only works with Apple devices, however Google has an app that
functions similar to facetime called duo which works on both devices and
makes it possible to video call with Android users. The only difference
is that duo requires that you have phone service because it works based
on your phone number. However you can use wifi or mobile data with duo.

Hi Christine,

Not sure if this will work but try turning off Siri and then turning it

I found that sometimes helps.

Also maybe try reset all settings.

apologizing, but the message was not understood. Clearly, since it was both
repeated and written correctly, it *was* understood. If I write the recipient’s

supposed to work. *And, when it does work in that instance, the number is

I have tried:
1. Powering off the phone;
2. Rebooting the phone;
3. Restoring the phone;
4. Syncing the phone;
5. Syncing after rebooting both the phone and my MacBook.
I have called Apple twice. Nothing is correcting this problem. Since I
frequently dictate messages because of severe tendinitis in my dominant hand,
this is actually a rather frustrating issue for me.
Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this? I am using an iPhone 6 with the

Hi Jim again, the unit is easy to clean for the most part. With a very damp
cloth I clean the top and bottom. Same with the dirt bin after emptying and not

vacume is cleaning the brush. If you live with a woman who has long hair well
that's the part that sucks. The hair gets intertwined into the brush and you
have to be very careful when loosening the hair from the brush. If it's just a

Re: Completely Baffled at TuneIn Pricing

2016-09-04 Thread Evan Reese
Thanks Chris, if this is still true, well, $9.99 per month isn’t quite as
tempting as $7.99 per month. I confess to being a little surprised that I
haven’t gotten a reply from anyone who’s bought it recently who could say
definitively what the cost is.
I will write to the developer, but what I also will do is try out some of the
other radio apps before I put any money out. There are quite a few of them on
Apple Vis, and I might like one or more of those better. And I can still use
the free TuneIn app anyhow.
Thanks again.

2016-09-04 Thread Mary Otten
It's too bad you can't copy music from the SD card into the music folder on
your actual device. The blurb for the app in the App Store mentions PDF, but it
doesn't say anything about compressed files or EPUB files. They do give a
website.

Yeah they say that duo will soon support audio only. You can get audio
only by locking your screen while on a call. It's definitely a work in
progress, but I like the idea.

Facetime only works with Apple devices, however Google has an app that
functions similar to facetime called duo which works on both devices and
makes it possible to video call with Android users. The only difference
is that duo requires that you have phone service because it works based
on your phone number. However you can use wifi or mobile data with duo.

Re: THE FORTHCOMING APPLE EVENT

2016-09-04 Thread Wayne Merritt
In addition to what's already been mentioned, the Macbreak Weekly show
will be recorded shortly after the Apple Event and then put out as a
podcast later on Wednesday. Though this is not blindness specific, it
does cover Apple very well. The Macbreak Weekly podcast is from the
TWIT network. Look in any of the top podcast related apps/sources.

Hello,
I’m copying the below from
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tunein-radio-pro-streaming/id319295332?mt=8
so people can see what I’m so baffled about. There seem to be different prices
listed for the same app. Does anyone else know how to figure out what the price
actually is? There are two different prices listed for TuneIn Premium. What’s
the deal? Then there’s TuneIn Pro, and TuneIn Premium Pro. I like the free
version of the app, but I’m getting tired of the ads pretty quickly and I’ll
buy it if the price is reasonable. But from the below, I can’t figure out what
I’ll have to pay to get rid of the ads. It’s either $9.99 or $7.99. Does anyone
know what’s what here?
Thanks much.

Re: Completely Baffled at TuneIn Pricing

2016-09-04 Thread Evan Reese
Thanks, I suspected there would be a monthly fee, but the way the page was laid
out, I couldn’t figure out what the fee would be. I didn’t think of the
possibility that one price might be for the app and the other would be for the
monthly fee.
I’m very tempted to get it. $7.99 is not unreasonable considering how much I’ve
been using the free version lately. There’s a lot of stuff on there I like.

I respectfully suggest you go through the TuneIn web page and submit a question

Hello,
I’m copying the below from

so people can see what I’m so baffled about.

Hi,

can see how your Googlegroups are set up; whether you get all email; no

I'm not positive it'll work but try the double tap and hold and then a swipe
down. The double tap and hold is the pass through gesture in VoiceOver.

RE: A Neato Question.

2016-09-04 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Barry:

Thanks much for your response. Both the neato and the Roomba 980 can be
controlled via Apple or Android apps but I chose the Neato because of the
reviews and tests and because of the big price difference.

Again, thanks all over the place.

Subject: Re: A Neato Question.

I have to say that we are very pleased with how well Neato picks up the dog
hair. I have a German Shepherd and even with regular brushing he sheds. Not to
mention our two cats.

It is very easy to clean compared to the Roomba. But the big deal of course is
that it can be controlled via iPhone or Android- not sure about android
accessibility as I haven’t played with it much.

When we purchased it several months ago it was available for $850.00 CAD at
Bath and Beyond.

One thing I have found is that sometimes after having corrected an error I
can’t seem to get it going again by pressing the home key. I then have to do a
reset by holding down the home button for 15 seconds. The problem with that is
that you are back at the start of the cleaning cycle.

Another small issue is that our bathroom has about a 3/4 inch lip which Neato
can climb but in doing so the little side brush often comes off.

However, I am very pleased with the overall performance and ease of
maintenance of the Neato.

Completely Baffled at TuneIn Pricing

2016-09-04 Thread Evan Reese
Hello,
I’m copying the below from
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tunein-radio-pro-streaming/id319295332?mt=8
so people can see what I’m so baffled about.
Evan

Absolutely Infuriating Issue With Sending Dictated Messages using Siri

2016-09-04 Thread Christine Grassman

The issue: I have always been able to use Siri to send messages, fully
dictating the recipient’s name and the message. Suddenly, there is this bizarre
issue: if I dictate both the name and the message, it is written and repeated
back correctly, but when it is sent, it comes back to me with a message
apologizing, but the message was not understood. Clearly, since it was both
repeated and written correctly, it *was* understood. If I write the recipient’s
name in the To field,*or* if I dictate their phone number, it works as it is
supposed to work. *And, when it does work in that instance, the number is
associated with the correct recipient, so there is no disconnect between
recipients and numbers in my contacts.
I have tried:
1. Powering off the phone;
2. Rebooting the phone;
3. Restoring the phone;
4. Syncing the phone;
I am using an iPhone 6 with the
latest iOS update.
Christine

Re: A Neato Question.

2016-09-04 Thread Barry Abbott

I'm not positive it'll work but try the double tap and hold and then a

Re: FaceTime calls

2016-09-04 Thread Gordon
Facetime only works with Apple devices, however Google has an app that
functions similar to facetime called duo which works on both devices and
makes it possible to video call with Android users. The only difference
is that duo requires that you have phone service because it works based
on your phone number. However you can use wifi or mobile data with duo.

Subject: any neato users out there?

hi,

I know it's not strictly on topic, but…

I am going to be leaving my neato alone for 4/5 weeks and he won't be doing
any work during that time, does anyone know best practice with regard to
battery protocols? should, sample, I leave it on the dock with the battery
switch off? any info gratefully received!

Thanks, Sandy

Hello,
What you have to do is go into VoiceOver Settings, find the button that lets
you add and delete items from the rotor, and find the punctuation setting
and add it. Then, you just find it in the rotor and adjust like any other
setting.

Hope this helps,
Jeffrey

Since updating this phone to 9.3.5 Voiceover now speaks the colon when
saying the time on the lock screen as well as other areas? I have tried
clearing all apps from the app switcher and restarting the phone but no
luck. Even tried doing a reset by holding the home key and the power
button for 15 seconds with no luck. Any ideas? It is not terrible but
very annoying.

Grab the Sero Beta While You Still Can

2016-09-04 Thread Joe
Hi,

If you haven't checked out the Sero beta, you might want to jump on the
bandwagon. For Sero beta testers who do not have existing accounts, you'll
be able to sign up for the Sero package for $99 for the year. That deal ends
tomorrow though.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, think TV shows, movies, news,
email access and an overall unique combination of entertainment and
productivity all from the convenience of a single app that now works across
multiple platforms. Start a show on your iPhone, resume it from your Apple
TV.

If you're familiar with the iBlink Radio app, we're talking about the next
generation of services. Sero is the backbone to soon handling more than just
your multimedia and computer tasks.

Full disclosure: I'm a contractor with the company. Me posting about the
product here on a Sunday morning though? Totally my own idea in hopes you'll
check out the potential of this app. Learn all about it here:

Hello,
What you have to do is go into VoiceOver Settings, find the button that lets
you add and delete items from the rotor, and find the punctuation setting and
add it. Then, you just find it in the rotor and adjust like any other setting.
Hope this helps,

I am in multiple leagues both on Yahoo, and NFL. I mainly manage my NFL leagues
using the web browser. However I do conduct the draft using the app. As far as
Yahoo goes I do basically everything on the phone app. It works really well. I
have no experience with ESPN.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Any ideas? It is not terrible but very
annoying.

Re: How to print a pdf from a text message

2016-09-04 Thread Chris Chaffin

Yes, you can print it as long as you have a WI-FI printer.
In your text message, you should have received an image or picture, double tap
on that.
Then on the next screen you will find a share button near the top, double tap
on that.
Within the pop up menu, you will find a print button.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi!

I'm going o answer to the original post here since I've lost the
topic

thread.

I agree Freedom Scientific, GW Micro and NV Access are
responsible for

how will their respective products will interact with different
kindsof

software on Windows compatible PCs.

However, I don't agree they are completely responsible. Software

developers have the means and ability to make their apps more
simple,

more accessible and more hookable to some standards so the
screen

readers can use the most of the app interface with no further
adjusting,

making scripts, set files or external modules.

iTunes, as an app in question, is way complicated and
graphically

furnished than it should be for its purpose. Long story short,
iTunes is

just a player with ability to synchronize with iDevices, nothing
more

nothing less and it could be much, much simpler than it is.

Regarding its design, basically it has left side with some kind
of tree

view with various categories and the right side with options,
settings

and controls for selected category. Tis can easily look like
Winamp

Preferences dialog or Jaws Settings Center, both accessible and
usable

to the core.

OK, now someone will tell Winamp needs some Jaws scripting which
is true

and it is obvious Jaws Settings Center has to be accessible but
similar

dialogs found in other apps are not screen reader supported and
still

are accessible. Right now I can think of Settings dialog of
Utorrent,

Free Download Manager and there are tones of apps with this kind
of

interface.

If the app is designed in some standards screen reader will have
a

better chance to interact with it and Apple is the first who
should know it.

S poštovanjem
