Chris,

I am running the latest version of the Watch app on my iPhone 6 with a Series 2
device; and I see no option that reads anything like, “on screen, show last
app.”

Any ideas where this option may now be located?

Thank,

Hello, I also have a series 1 Apple watch, and I was having the same problem
while on the tredmill. This is what I do.
First, I set my watch to keep the current app open, so when I tap the screen
during my workout, I am right on my workout screen. The way to set this is to
do the following:
Open the watch app on your phone.
Go to general then swipe to Wake Screen and double tap.
Now swipe to, on screen show last app. You will have different choices,
double tap always.

Now after starting your workout, I swipe on my watch to the information you
want to get, like distance, time remaining, etc, and leave the focus there.
Now Every time you tap your watch, the focus will remain on the information you
want, and it will read it to you.

I hope this has been helpful.

Chris

I have tried the barcode reader on several obscure products and have been
surprised by and picking up on a few things. It found a bottle of what is

enough to make the second search worthwhile. Sorry about my grammatical errors.

have very pronounced laces for your feet, it's just that I don't
always hit them perfectly before it takes a reading. That may be true
on all of them though.

RE: PureFlix

2017-07-21 Thread Merv Keck
Hi,
www.pureflix.com has a listing of movies and shows. I gave up Hulu a long time
ago in anticipation of Pureflix. They have some content that I have been
waiting for a while.

Just wondering if there is much that is offered on PureFlix? I already pay for
Hulu and NetFlix, so just wondering if it would offer more to warrant paying
another $9.99 a month. Is there a listing somewhere of what kind of stuff you
can expect to find on PureFlix? I know there is a 30 day trial, but I thought
someone could enlighten me more before I take the 30 day free trial. If it
doesn't offer much, I would rather not waste the time.

Interesting you would ask this. It was not Krogers brand but Win Dixie.
Maybe it needs brands that are not store brands.

RE: URGENT: Message from Belcan's Director of Global IT Security: Critical Vulnerability in Apple iPhone

2017-07-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am not sure what the game is, but this message is a bunch of BS and should
simply be ignored. I was waiting for a link or something which is why I wonder
what whoever wrote this is after. Simply the fact that the so-called “Belkin
Manager of Global IT Security” is supposed to have written this is a big red
flag. It sounds awefully impressive, but I wonder if such a title even exists.
Every iOS update includes security patches so of course you should update, but
if there was a really serious issue with versions of iOS 10 prior to 10.3.3 it
would have been all over the news.

Critical Vulnerability in Apple iPhone

Paula

My company never sends these alerts out, but they felt it very urgent for this
one so I thought I would pass it on

Mike Herzog

Critical Vulnerability: URGENT APPLE IOS VERSION UPDATE REQUIRED:

A CRITICAL VULNERABILITY has been identified in the operating system (IOS)
version for Apple iPhones (5 or later), IPads (4th Gen or Later), and IPOD
Touch (6th Gen or Later) devices. This flaw will allow an attacker to gain
access to the phone through the Wi-Fi chip, resulting in gaining access to the
entire phone. Due to this vulnerability, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that users
with the devices in question to the latest IOS version (10.3.3) at your
earliest opportunity.

Process to upgrade:

1. Within your IOS device, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
2. Tap either Download and Install or Install Now, whichever displays.

Interim measure:
If you are unable to update your software, immediately, you can disable your
wireless adapter to prevent the attack, described above, from happening.

How to Disable Wireless Adapter:

1. Within your IOS device, go to Settings -> Wi-Fi.
2. Click on the slider to the right of Wi-Fi to disable Wi-Fi (the color
will change from green to gray)

Re: The Aria Fitbit Scale

2017-07-21 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I have an Aria scale, and to get it on my wifi network, I had to use my
browser on my PC. I'm not sure what else I tried, since it's been a
while, but that's how I got my Aria scale on my network. I think your
scale and your phone have to both be on the same network as well, so if
you have a 2.4G and a 5G network, you may need to ensure both your phone
and your scale are on the same network.

BTW, I'm pretty sure these instructions on the web are the ones I
folloed to get my Aria scale set up
https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1159

On 07/21/2017 04:29 PM, Esther Levegnale wrote:

Hi, Listers!

I recently purchased and received an Fitbit Aria scale from Amazon. I scanned
the card which indicated how to set up the unit. I pulled the tab from the
battery compartment which was mentioned, then, on my iPhone itself, I went into
the app, entered on my account, and added the Aria scale where it said to add a
device. I logged into my account and followed all the instructions, including
removing one of the batteries for 10 seconds, then placing it back. I don't
know what the scale display said at that point, but I set up the wireless
component of the Aria which also connected well.

Now here's the kicker. When I went into my Fitbit under Dashboard, it
mentioned my Charge HR device which was the original one but did not show the
scale in there. I don't know what I did wrong. I assumed the software
downloaded onto the app, but I apparently didn't do something right. I
probably need sighted assistance for some of these components, but I would
appreciate any help. I know there was someone on this list who mentioned that
he/she had the Aria scale and it was very accessible, and I thank them for that
fact.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

The seeing AI app recognizes stre brand products when using the product channel
& scanning the bar code. I used the app to scan a baby wipe container & it was

Interesting you would ask this. It was not Krogers brand but Win Dixie. Maybe
it needs brands that are not store brands.

Chris

In order to stop your phone's tone volume from changing with the
volume button do the following.

Go to settings and look for sounds. In sounds find the heading that
says "Ringer and alerts". There Is then an option that says" Change

Just wondering if there is much that is offered on PureFlix? I already pay
for Hulu and NetFlix, so just wondering if it would offer more to warrant
paying another $9.99 a month. Is there a listing somewhere of what kind of
stuff you can expect to find on PureFlix? I know there is a 30 day trial,
but I thought someone could enlighten me more before I take the 30 day free
trial. If it doesn't offer much, I would rather not waste the time.

The Aria Fitbit Scale

2017-07-21 Thread Esther Levegnale

RE: question about the seeing AI

2017-07-21 Thread Richard Turner
You have two options.
I’d say first try the Short Text channel and make sure you are pointing at the
side of the can, from about 8 to 10 inches away. Slowly turn the can and see
if it can get enough of the name to identify it.

If you have an iPhone 6 or later, or an iPod Touch 6th generation, or an iPad
Air 2 and newer, you will also have the Product channel that identifies bar
codes. Try that and take the same approach. When it starts beeping stop and
see if you can get it to beep very fast and hold steady or move slightly closer
or farther away and it should get you want you want.
I sent a demo link of the product channel yesterday. If you need that link
sent again, let me know.

Richard

Eclipse Soundscapes Project

2017-07-21 Thread Richard Turner
Greetings,
I don't recall if I sent this out already. Just in case, here it is again.
The link to the page is at the end along with the Email address to contact them.

Eclipse Soundscapes

Eclipse Soundscapes
banner end

During an eclipse, we gaze in amazement as day becomes night. But, along with
the striking visual effects, the soundscape of natural environments changes
dramatically. The changes in the sounds of the eclipse are not only of interest
to sociologists, birders, and naturalists, but will also give the blind
and visually impaired an opportunity to experience this rare celestial event.

The Eclipse Soundscapes project will use a specially designed app to allow
citizen scientists to record environmental sounds before, during, and after
the August 21, 2017 eclipse. These recordings will be shared across the world
in order to give everyone the opportunity to experience the awe of a total
solar eclipse.

FW: URGENT: Message from Belcan's Director of Global IT Security: Critical Vulnerability in Apple iPhone

2017-07-21 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
I don't know if any of you have seen this, but thought it might be worth
sharing.

God bless!

Subject: Fwd: URGENT: Message from Belcan's Director of Global IT Security:
Critical Vulnerability in Apple iPhone

Paula

My company never sends these alerts out, but they felt it very urgent for
this one so I thought I would pass it on

This flaw will allow an attacker to gain
access to the phone through the Wi-Fi chip, resulting in gaining access to
the entire phone. Due to this vulnerability, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that
users with the devices in question to the latest IOS version (10.3.3) at
your earliest opportunity.

Process to upgrade:

1. Within your IOS device, go to Settings -> General -> Software
Update.

2. Click on the slider to the right of Wi-Fi to disable Wi-Fi (the
color will change from green to gray)

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thanks,

Well, it seems to be working for me if I put the phone flat on a flat surface
with the camera facing up and then find the barcode with the product above the
phone and then lift it up a little bit. I was successful with three bottles of
wine that way. Much more so than if I try to position the phone just right.
Maybe if you're still having problems you can try that. Nice demo, richard.

Pureflix App and the Apple TV 4

2017-07-21 Thread Merv Keck
Hi,

I have been waiting for the Pureflix app to come to the Apple TV 4 for about
a year now. It has finally arrived. However, I have no clue if it is
accessible. I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet with Voiceover?
Pureflix is like Netflix but with family friendly programming.

Thanks in advance.

Merv

Re: Seeing AI Product Channel Demo

2017-07-21 Thread Kay Malmquist
I discovered that if I know a can is right side up, by turning my iPhone upside
down so that the camera is on the bottom and holding the phone about 6 to 8
inches away, I set the can and the camera on the same table and when I turn the
can it picks up on the barcode right away. Of course, you have to make sure
that the camera is definitely pointed at the can. A little weight off one side
of the other does make a difference.

RE: SeeingAI and product

2017-07-21 Thread Richard Turner
Mr. Ed,
You don't have to double tap at all.
Just flick up to Product and point the camera.

That is unless you had double tapped on pause announcements and have to resume
having it automatically announce what it finds.

Richard

Hi,
After you swipe down or up on the channel and you hear product, then you have
to double tap to open product then you can start scanning a product.

That's interesting that it would think soup as medicine for zits. LOL I wish I
could get the product option to work for me, when I swipe up and down and stop
on product channel and it says adjustable, I never even see the camera try and
figure out what it says. Even when I double tap it, nothing happens. How do you
get it to work?

Re: Accessible parental control app?

2017-07-21 Thread Kliphton Miller
Unfortunately I am not with AT I loved there service when I had it back in
2012. Could set custom schedules, could have a list of numbers that were never
blocked, it was lovely. T-mobile has a service, but it is nowhere near as
good. Can’t even have a custom schedule. They have a school shut off time for
9:00AM until 2:00AM. Well, my kids are in school from 8:25AM, until 2:35PM so
that won’t work. Oh well, thanks anyway.

2017-07-21 Thread Donna
Hi Kliphton,

Not sure what internet or cell phone provider you have..At has a plan called
Smart Limits which does what you are looking for. Here is a link to the Smart
limits app.
AT Smart Limits℠ by AT Services, Inc.
https://appsto.re/us/3h342.i

There is also an app called net nanny, but it doesn't have good reviews. I
don't know much about the net nanny subscription service. You can explore the
service. Here is the link.

Net Nanny for iOS by ContentWatch, Inc.
